Another boring day in Ponyville for an earth pony named Screech. He had a red coat and white hair that stuck up and looked like he had been running for a long time in strong winds. His green eyes shifted looking for anything to make this day anymore exciting. Nothing could be found. It was a regular day at Ponyville with most other ponies smiling as they trotted around town going about their daily business. Absolutely nothing was wrong from what Screech could see. He sighed as he found nothing. He then turned around and walked on his way to his normal day. But but stopped when he smelt something strange. He smelt smoke.
He looked up and saw a very large smoke stack coming from a building a few houses down. Screech grinned, a little excitement in his day, just like he hoped. He ran over and saw 3 ponies all standing around the burning building talking. "Lazy fire ponies..." Screech said quietly, "They never do their job like their supposed to. They always goof of when ponies need them most... Can't stand them." He had stood in front of th building and inspected it. The fire was coming from upstairs. He was about to run in when he heard somepony scream. He looked up and from the 2nd story window stood a red pegasus with long, light purple hair and dark purple highlights. He yelled towards her, "Stay calm! Everything is going to be fine!" She continued to scream, but was pushed out and landed on the ground. She landed gently but grabbed her wing as if it was hurt. Screech looked up and saw that an orange unicorn had taken the pegasus's place. The unicorn had long yellow hair with and orange stripe in the middle. She looked down and without waiting jumped. Screech acted on impulse and went underneath the unicorn to catch her. He ran beneath her and looked up and she landed right on his back. They both laid their for a minute before the unicorn realized where she was and got off of Screech.
She looked at Screech angrily. Her yellow eyes were like a fire. Screech looked behind her and saw fire ponies grabbing water to put on the house. Then the unicorn blocked his view. Screech took a quick look at her cutie mark and saw that a was a fire burning from an autumn leaf. She spoke angrily towards him, "Why did you catch me? I was going to use a spell to lighten my landing. You didn't need to do that."
Screech glared at her. He just saved her and she hadn't even thanked him, but she told him off for helping. "Well, I didn't need to help. I guess a burning building is a sign for me to say 'Ohp, I don't need to help. I should just walk in another direction!' when I could actually help!" he said to the unicorn.
The orange unicorn tried to make a comeback, but before she said anything the red pegasus that was pushed out of the window interupted her. She spoke in a gentle voice and her violet eyes shined with innocence. She said, "Maybe you should go easy on him. He was only trying to help..."
"Be quiet! If he helps then I don't get paid! And I need money in order to go to that wedding that I've heard about..." the unicorn said decreasing in volume.
"Wait, wedding? What wedding?" Screech asked.
"Oh you didn't hear?" the pegasus replied. "There's a wedding going on in Canterlot between these two pegasi and it's said to be the biggest wedding since that other one in Canterlot when the Changelings invaded!"
"Exactly, and I need to go because I'm pretty sure somepony I haven't since since I was a foal is going to be there" the unicorn said.
Screech was surprised. He was from Canterlot and he knew every route leading to and from there. He had to learn all the routes after what happened when he was younger. "I could get you two there if you wanted me to." Screech offered.
Both of the mares looked at him surprised. They both said at the same time,"Really?!"
Screech nods his head and says, "Yeah, I used to live there and I know a way we can get there on hoof before the day ends."He pauses before realizing one important detail. "Though, I would need to know the names of teh ponies I'm guiding there."
Both of the ponies understood what he meant.
The pegasus said, "My name is Violet, after the flower. See?" She turned to show her cutie mark which was indeed a violet flower.
The unicorn said , "You can call me Spark. I'm from the Ponyville Fireponies. We have to put out fires to protect the innocent ponies. And who are you?" She directed the last part towards Screech.
"My name is Screech. I'm actually from Canterlot." he answered.
"Your name's Screech? Is that why your cutie mark is shattered glass?" Violet asks
Screech looked down at the ground. "Yeah, it is. I'll explain the story when we get to Canterlot. Come on. And on the way, you can tell me about yourselves." He wanted to avoid telling the story of how he got his cutie mark as long as he could. It was a dark chapter in his life. And it explains why he lived alone. Screech had started off towards the woods and Violet and Spark followed him. And their journey towards Canterlot began. Little did they know that when they reached Canterlot, their lives would be intertwined with some special ponies.
