Day 1
Dear Diary,
My name is Better Day. I am a unicorn colt who was born in the shadow to the Court of Chaos. And today is my naming day.
Am I excited you ask? No, I am afraid. Why? Because I was a unicorn born in the shadow of the Court of Chaos.
Why does that frighten me? Well if you are reading this, and you don't know the answer to that question, than you live in a happier future than I could ever imagine. For everything in this world is in the shadow of the Court of Chaos. In the shadow, of Lord Discord.
I started this diary at my mother's suggestion. It was her naming day gift to me. And she says that anypony who is in my hooves should have an anchor set firmly in reality. After all, today is my naming day. Tomorrow, I enter into the service of the Court.

Day 2
Dear Diary,
My first day in the Court was an interesting one.
I approached the massive marble structure of the Court, expecting to be driven mad simply by looking at the massive structure up close. No such luck. I had thought that if I had gone insane, the inside of the structure might have been easier to deal with.
Of course, if I was driven insane, I wouldn't know it, would I? I might think that gravity pulled everypony towards the ground or something equally bizarre.
Alas, no such luck. Upon entering through a small door sat to the side of the massive mahogany doors used for entry into the Court, I was led through a small hallway adorned with lit torches that glowed a steady color, a faint bluish-white, as they cast the hallway in a sickly glow.
The walls seemed to sway faintly if I looked at them long enough. They also made me feel slightly sick. I will have to do my best not to look at them for very long.
My guide as I entered the room at the end of the hall was an elderly looking unicorn who walked the halls smoothly, a practiced air to the manner in which he walked, though the way he seemed to bend and flow with the walls makes looking at him almost as nauseating as looking at those walls. He never looked towards me, and he never spoke a word.
He led me towards a large room that I estimate must have been fifty times the size of my entire house, and told me that this is where I was to...
Odd. I'm sorry diary, I can't seem to remember what happened in that room. I think I was cleaned and dressed when I left it, because I am currently cleaner than I have ever been in my life, and my bedroom has plenty of well fitting clothes in it.
Wait, how do I know that? The drawers are closed, I can't see into them from here.
I'm sorry diary, I am growing suddenly tired, I guess I will tell you more tomorrow.

Day 3
Dear Diary,
Today was my first real day in the Court. I won't count yesterday, since it was all orientation and the like.
I still can't really remember what happened yesterday, but what are you gonna do? Sorry, going to do. They are very strict about using proper language around here, and the best way to get better at something, is to practice it.
I was finally properly introduced to that earth pony who walked me through the halls yesterday. His name is , and he seems a nice enough fellow. Apparently he is to be my mentor while I work here, at least until I get settled.
That's odd, I swear I wrote his name down back there. His name is .
Again, the name vanished from the page as soon as I write it! How odd. I guess the Court is just chaos like that sometimes. I will just have to call him Master. Oh good, that didn't fade away.
So Master told me of the duties I was to be performing in the Court for the duration of my stay. How I was to scrub pots that grew clean as they sat in the cabinets, rubbing them with leftover bits of food from people's meals before putting them back.
He also spoke of me of rubbing dirt into carpets, weaving spider webs into corners, and pulling folded sheets off of freshly made beds and throwing them on the floor. It seems I have a talent for performing these chaotic chores, so I get assigned to them right away, rather than having to work my way up to them.
They say I will be going back into that room I can't seem to remember again tomorrow. But it doesn't matter. I plan to fight against this place, and this Master. No one will get between me and my sanity.

Day 5
Dear Diary,
I had a really bad dream last night. I guess I haven't gotten as used to this place as I had thought I was. Lucky I have you, Diary. I can look over the entries I put in each day and feel more confident that at least something is real. My anchor to reality, as mother had called it.
Funny, it seems like months since I last spoke with her, not just over half a week. I wonder if time moves differently in the Court of Chaos than it does outside of it? Well, there will be no way to be sure of that.
Master seems different as of late. I don't know what it is, but I feel like he is expecting something from me that I am not giving. I don't know what else I can do, after all, I am the fastest dirtier he has ever had! Of course, I have never met anyone else while I have been working here. Have I? I don't think I have...
Oh my, sorry diary, getting tired again.

Has it really been so long since I wrote in you diary?
I am sorry, somehow I guess the time just got away from me.
I moved on to new duties a while back. Now I am the Master's personal assistant. This means that I get to help him as he goes about his duties. I heard rumors that I am being groomed to take his position one day. Huh, as if I would ever be good enough for something like that!
But it is busy work. I get to show new recruits down the long hallway with the blue torches when the master has other things he must do. But I must be perfectly quiet when I do so. I must stand proudly and move confidently. Else I will disappoint the Master!
And diary, exciting news! Tomorrow, they say that I will get to learn how to clean things! This is so exciting, I guess the Master has finally agreed that I am truly a master of dirtying, and he will be allowing me into the big leagues!

Dear Diary,
The Master has been gone for a while. Huh, I guess since my last entry in you, isn't that funny?
No one seems to know where he is, but I am assured that he is coming back soon, and better than ever before! I am so excited! Master will return, and he will see how great I have become! I have taken over all of his duties in his absence, and I do them perfectly! I am the great cleaner, and the fastest dirtier! None can match me in any of my duties!
And the hall! The new recruits enter, they are always so small, so scared. They have just reached adulthood, and they all get to join into the family of the Court! But I must do as Master has always done. I must not speak to them, I must not look at them. They must follow me down the hall, and to the large room at the end where...
Oh, I'm sorry diary. You aren't a recruit of the Court, are you. I mustn't speak to you of what is in the room at the end of the hallway! That would make me a bad Better Deeys! Heehee!

Day LXVI,
Dear Diary,
The Master has been teaching me so much since he returned! He says that numerals are smarter than numbers! So I write in you in numerals now, because the Master is the wisest pony I ever met. If I get to become like him one day, I must do as he does diary! I must!
Today I got a new job from Master. He is so great! He tells me that if I can sit still long enough, I will get more controlled at being like him. And so I do diary! I get to sit still, and not move all day long! It's really hard though diary, because the Court of Chaos is always moving around. It is chaos after all. It's where the great Discord himself lives!
So I study the walls. When they sway, I sway. When they turn around me, I turn around me. And I am so excited diary, because I no longer get dizzy when I look at the walls! Actually, I can't remember when I last was, but it is probably like being on a ship, you eventually get used to the ocean bobbing underneath you.
And so I am still like the walls, twisting and swaying and bending. Wait till Master sees me become the best at this as well!

dear Diary,
i did it diary! Master says i move with the walls like he does now! If i move the new family members II the Room, i must now move with the walls as i do so! i must move with the walls all the time, always perfectly still, like the walls. i must not move around like the new recruits who come in. Why do they move around so much, and not stay still like me or Master?
Master says that next i must learn to think like this place to be like him. i don't understand what he means, but he says i must go back to the Room again to do so. That's okay diary, i don't mind. i know you do, but it don't bother me no more. As long as Master is happy, Butter Deeeeys is happy II.

Day 4,
Dear Diary,
Today was an ordeal. As promised, they escorted me back to the large area known as The Room. I don't understand what half of the equipment they keep in there is supposed to do, but they assured me it would all make sense in time.
While I was in there, they hooked me up to all manner of strange looking devices. There were ones with cables and plugs and glowing squares that had rapidly changing pictures on it. And then there were others that as far as I can tell did absolutely nothing when I was hooked up to them. Hah! I hope they were disappointed that they didn't work on me!
Finally, I was taken to a large tube in the back of the room. It glowed a dark shade of green, with light bands of green along all the sides of the device in intricate patterns.
I stood there on all fours for only a couple of second, waiting and wondering what odd purpose this new device was supposed to achieve, when suddenly, I was overcome with a very strange vision. The walls vanished. The room itself vanished. All that there was in all directions was a fog. A fog that I seemed to float on in this vast, eternal emptiness.
Until I heard a laugh.
I tell you what diary, that laugh scared me like nothing else about being here ever has.
Because I knew that laugh.
Sure enough, within moments, a creature appeared before me. I saw it, and all I could do was to scream. For this creature, was me. But older. Much older. And it moved in the same swaying motion as the walls of the Court had moved. Its fur was immaculate, its posture proud. But what gave me the greatest chill of all diary, was that it wasn't just me. It was also the Master. I could see right then, and I knew. I would be the Master. The Master was me.
The Master smiled at me, my own smile, yet so hellishly wrong, as the fog faded from around me. Afterwards, they took me back here, and here I am.
And now I finally understand why they did this to me diary. I am to become the very device of my own destruction.
And since the Master is the one who is teaching me, I know I can never hope to escape my fate. For I have already seen it. It is already here.
