Confrontation

Rainbow Dash scuffled her hooves across the ground, her head hanging low, the warm breeze blowing through her prismatic mane.  Her eyes were closed, but she had been to where she was going many times before.  She rarely ever walked, considering she was one of the best fliers in Equestria, but she didn't want to fly today; She didn't want to fly anymore.

Rainbow paused, and lifted her head up, eyes still closed; She knew where she was.  She slowly tilted her head to the right, and creaked open her red and bloodshot eyes. Atop the grassy hill sat Fluttershy's cottage. She immediately turned her head back in front of her, warm tears trailing down her cheeks. "Never Again..." Rainbow thought to herself as certain images flashed through her head.  She squeezed her eyes even tighter as more warm tears made their way down her face. She continued onwards.

She had reached her destination; an old hilltop with a large oak tree looming over it, casting shadows in the sunset.  Rainbow hadn't particularly appreciated any sort of scenery throughout her life, but she enjoyed the hilltop; She would always come up here to have picnics with...  Rainbow bit her lip and felt her heart drop.  She stopped her train of thought as two raspy sobs escaped from her mouth.  Rainbow kept her eyes closed for a while longer; She knew exactly where she was, but she tried to keep her eyes closed for as long as she could; Looking at the scenery would make her more emotional than she already was.

Rainbow finally opened her eyes, her magenta rings poorly complimenting the red in her eyes.  She sucked in a breath and blinked hard, she forced her to move her hooves up the small hill.  She reached the top, wiping her tear-dried face.  Dash didn't move, didn't blink, and looked down; She couldn't take it, more hoarse sobs escaped her mouth as she was practically sobbing at this point. She kept her gaze fixed on the ground beneath her, refusing to glance upwards.  Dash took in a deep breath of the warm air, and opened her mouth to speak.  She sat there for a few moments, pondering over what was going through her head.  She was at loss for words, she exhaled and closed her mouth.

Dash had been sitting on the hilltop as the day came to an end, she had been staring at the ground, thinking, questioning herself and her actions.  Minutes ticked by.  She finally had the courage to speak; "H-hey F-Flutters." She spoke in a hoarse, dry whisper.  "It sure has been a long while since w-we talked..." No answer.  Rainbow sighed, her heart hurting.  She continued to fight back against her sobs, her breathing becoming rapid as she tried to do so. "I-I just wanted to come..." she stopped, more tears streaming down her face. "...Apologize..." she continued. "No... why am I a-apologizing? I-I don't d-deserve your forgiveness..."    ...    "Not a-after what I d-did." She ended her sentence as her voice squeaked into sobs.  Rainbow didn't hold anything back, she let it all out. She needed to. She fell to her haunches and continued to sob. "Whats the point?!" she screamed into the overcast sky. "Whats the point..." she whispered to herself in a low sob.

As if the sky felt Rainbow's pain, the clouds started trickling down drops of cold rain.  A large clap of thunder echoed through the air as the drizzle became a downpour.  Rainbow wasn't paying attention to the fact that she was becoming completely soaked. In fact, at this point, nothing mattered to her.  Dash had stopped crying, the rainwater intwined with her tears.  She looked through her soaked, colorful mane.  Just in front of her, sat a tombstone on a patch of dirt.  There were three butterflies etched into the rough tombstone as there was writing below in big, block like letters that said: Here Lies Fluttershy, The Kind. Below the tombstone sat a bundle of now dying roses.  Rainbow couldn't bare to look at the tombstone anymore.  She sniffled, and shifted her eyes upwards, peering at the sunlight that evaded the overcast and managed to shine down onto Ponyville.  "Some Loyal pony I am." Rainbow choked out. Rainbow moved from her haunches to position herself on her belly.  She put her forelegs out in front of her as she lay her head on them.  Rainbow closed her eyes and drifted off.
