The New Pony in Town

Tim woke up when the unknown pegasus nurse walked in and gave him a quick check up.

"Good morning Thunder Shock, just checking up on you."

"Morning." he said with a yawn. "Say, whats your name?"

"Nurse Redcross."

"Oh god," he thought to himself, "does everyone here have a cheesy name?"

"Well, you're looking good, according to this you can leave whenever you want."

"Wow, really?"

"Yes, you've got an unnaturally fast recovery rate. You still have a terrible bloody nose, he could even still be broken, just keep this on at all times." she said as she fastened a bandage on Thunder Shock's nose.

"Ok then, I think I'll check out." he said as he got up and headed toward the front desk, the nurse by his side.

"If anything happens just come back and tell us ok?"

"All right." he said as he signed his name on one last form and walked out the door.

Thunder shock looked around. Where was he going to go?

"Uh, excuse me." said a quiet voice behind him.

Thunder Shock turned around and looked for anything alive, but could only find grass and a bush. "Hello?" he asked.

"Uh, yes, I was there when you appeared here."

"Twilight? You sound different."

"No, not Twilight, I was scared of you so I hid in the bushed like I am now, see?" the voice said as a yellow pony with a pink mane parted some bush strands to make a hole.

"Oh, and who are you?" he said starting to walk toward the bush.

"EEP." she screamed and dashed into town.

"What was that?" Thunder Shock asked to no one in particular.

"That was Fluttershy, shes very shy, but shes a good friend when you get to know her." Twilight said.

"GAH, where the hell did you come from?"

Twilight glared at Thunder Shock. "Do NOT use that word here in Equestria."

"Sheesh ok. Just tell me, where did you come from?"

"I was watching you the whole time, did you know you sleep talk?"

"Wait, so now your a stalker?"

"Sort of."

"Well, can you tell me what to do next?"

"Go down the road a block take a right, first building on your left is Sugarcube Corner, talk to Pinkie Pie, she will take you from there."

"Umm ok then, thank you." Thunder Shock said as he proceeded to follow Twilight's instructions.

When he arrived at Sugarcube Corner, nobody was there so he looked around at the wares. After a couple minutes a blue pony with an odd pink mane went up to the counter.

"Hello sir, how may I help you?"

"Twilight told me to come here and talk to Pinkie Pie."

"Ok hun, one second. PINKIIIIIIIIIE PIIIIIIIIE. GET DOWN HERE, SOMEPONY'S HERE FOR YOU."

"Who is it?" someone upstairs responded a little muffled from the ceiling, or floor, depending on what floor your on.

"I DON'T KNOW, BUT ITS A BOY!"

A pink land pony fell down the stairs obviously in a rush.

"A boy, for me, no way!" she said excitedly as she dashed over to Thunder Shock and gave him a head to tail inspection.

"Uhh, I came here because I just showed up yesterday and Twilight told me to come here."

"Oh." the pink pony said looking a little disappointed. "They never come here for me. Wait, did you say you showed up YESTERDAY?"

"Yes?" he replied a little confused.

"OH GOODIE, come back in two hours!" she replied disappearing upstairs.

"Who was that and why was she so, so, so."

"Energetic?" the pony behind the counter asked.

"Yes, energetic."

"That was Pinkie Pie, shes always on a sugar high."

"I see. And whats she doing?"

"I'm not allowed to tell you, last time I did she went berserk."

"Oh great. Should I come back?"

"Yes. It's totally worth it. Trust me."

"Oh, ok, what all can I do while I'm here?"

"Well, there are other pony's houses, you could walk around and meet somepony. Or you can use the spa. The train station has a list of help wanted adds so you can earn some bits."

"Bits?"

"The currency in Equestria is little chunks of gold called bits, but don't feel ripped off when you work for 3 hours and only get 6 bits. Stuff here doesn't cost many bits."

"Oh, ok thanks." he said as he checked his watch. 9:03. 1 hour 57 minutes left. He had lots of time, so he headed over to the spa to see the prices.

"Lets see, spa spa spa." he said quietly to himself as he looked for the spa sign. He gave up after a while and went into the nearest open shop looking building. When he walked in, a bell rang.

"Hello sir." A white filly smiled up at him. "Welcome to the Boutique, my name is Sweetie Belle, how may I help you?"

"Oh, hello there, what do you sell here?"

"Clothes."

"How much money do you earn here?"

"A lot!"

"If you earn a lot then how come almost nobody wears clothes?"

"Nobody?"

"I'm sorry, noPONY."

"Oh, that makes sense, and I have no clue."

"Umm, do you need any help here?"

"Well, my sister rarity does need help running the counter while she sews."

"Oh, what good luck, I used to be a store clerk."

"Really?"

"Yeah."

"Would you run the register please sir?"

"How much will I get payed?"

"A fourth of the sales you make and any tips you get."

"All right. I'll do it then." Thunder Shock said as he went behind the counter.

"If you need anything I'll just be wandering around."

"Ok then Sweetie."

Then Sweetie Belle wandered off and started talking to a classy looking stallion wearing fancy clothes. Then a greyish white pony with a blue mane and red eyes walked up to the counter and put a party dress on the counter.

"I'd like to buy this please." she said not paying attention and started texting.

Thunder Shock checked the price tag. "12 bits please." he said.

"Here." said the pony placing the money on the counter, grabbed the dress, and dropped a bit in the tip can.

"Wow, 4 bits in 10 seconds, I'm doing good."

Time passed fairly quickly as Thunder Shock sat at the register, he kept track of the total money earned. Eventually he checked his watch again. 10:48. "Oh man, I have to get going. SWEETIE BELLE!"

"Hello sir, I understand that Sweetie set you as the register guy?"

"Yes, who are you?"

"I'm Rarity, the owner of this store."

"Oh, ok then. Well, I have to go, Pinkie Pie told me to meet her at Sugarcube Corner at 11."

"Ok, how much did you earn while running the register?"

"I earned 40 bits total so that's 10 bits for me and I got a 10 bit tip."

"Ok, here." Rarity said as she pulled 20 bits out of an invisible pocket on her thigh and handed them to Thunder Shock.

"Thank you."

"No, thank you for running register."

"Anytime."

"Well, see you in a bit."

"Umm ok then." Thunder Shock said as he headed back to Sugarcube corner.

When he arrived, the lights were off and the door shut, but not locked. He checked his watch. 10:59. She won't care if hes a minute early right? He slowly opened the door, poked his head in and opened the door completely. Then he switched the lights on.

"SURPRISE!!" about 20 ponies shouted.

"Whats happening?" Thunder Shock asked as Pinkie Pie bounded up.

"It's a party, I always throw a party for new ponies in Ponyville." She answered.

"Awesome, hey, is that Rarity? How did she beat me here?"

"She's a unicorn, she can teleport."

"Oh, I see."

"Well, what are you waiting for, its a PARTY WOOO!!!" Pinkie shouted as she dashed into the mess of ponies.

Thunder Shock decided to wander in the crowd and meet some new ponies, still not quite sure if he likes Ponyville yet.

"Oh, hello there, who are you?" a blue pony with a blue mane and a white stripe down the center asked.

"I'm Thunder Shock, the new guy."

"No way, you're the guy?"

"Yeah, sure I guess."

"Hey man, I'm Colgate." Colgate help up a hoof for a hoof bump.

Thunder Shock hesitated then bumped Colgate's hoof with his.

"Here, let me show you around." Colgate said grabbing Thunder Shock's leg and pulling him toward the center of the group. "This here, is Octavia, you don't see her at parties like this much, shes more for stuff like orchestra music."

"Hello Octavia. I'm Thunder Shock." Thunder Shock waved friendly.

"Hello." she said and she went back to her lonesome small very boring dance.

"This mare, is my mane gal Vinyl Scratch." Colgate took Thunder Shock over to the pony that bought a party dress earlier, which she was wearing.

"Hey Vinyl Scratch."

"Yo bro, wassup, you godda try this stuff." she said, her speech slurred and looking a bit drunk as she held a cup of some green liquid up to Thunder Shock's face.

"Umm, no thank you." he said as he pushed it away..

"This gal here." Colgate said and stumbled over some cords. "Is awesome. She is about the only pony you can really trust to stand behind you no matter what." she said with a hiccup. "And dude, whatever you do, don't drink what Vinyl offers, I feel like I'm gonna die." Colgate fainted randomly and hit the yellow pegasus's leg.

The yellow pegasus turned around confused and saw Thunder Shock.

"EEP." she screamed and turned around only to be cut off by a group of ponies.

"Uhh, hi." Thunder Shock said. "I don't believe we've met properly yet."

"Oh yeah, I'm Fluttershy." she said shying away.

"I'm sorry what did you say?"

"I said, I'm Fluttershy."

"What? This musics too loud."

"I'm Fluttershy!" she said as loud as she dared.

"I still can't hear you."

"I'm Fluttershy," the song ended abruptly, "and I think you're cute!"

Thunder Shock stared at her in shock.

Fluttershy stood completely still and the color faded from her face.

"Bad timing." Colgate managed to say while on the ground.

Thunder Shock and Fluttershy stood there staring at each other and all nearby ponies stared at them also. Eventually Vinyl Scratch got up at the turntable.

"YO PEEPS, who stole the disc?" she asked the crowd as she went to the disc rack and grabbed another one to put it. "Nobody eh? Oh well, they're a bit a dozen anyways. Now, lets get this party started back up!" Another song the exact same as the last one started up and Vinyl went back into the crowd.

Everypony around them went back to dancing or talking, but Thunder Shock and Fluttershy still had eyes locked. As soon as a hole opened in the crowd, Fluttershy ran away towards the exit crying. Thunder Shock didn't know what to do, but decided to go after her. When he got to the exit, Fluttershy was sitting on the stairs to Sugarcube Corner. Thunder Shock sat down next to her.

"So, you think I'm cute huh?" Thunder Shock asked

"Yeah, don't remind me." she said refusing to make eye contact.

"You know, I think you're kinda cute too." he lied to make her feel better.

Fluttershy wiped a tear from her face. "Really?"

"Yeah. You know, everyone in there probably forgot about you saying that."

"You think so?"

"Yeah, if I know party people, and I do, most of them are drunk and they'll forget things quickly. "

"How do you know?"

"Hey, when you live in college you learn a thing or two about parties. Anyways, I'm going back in there, you can too if you want."

"Ok."

And with that, Thunder Shock got up and went back into the party. He trotted around the crowd talking to random ponies and making a few friends. Eventually a turquoise unicorn bumped into him.

"Oh, I'm sorry about that." she said.

"No, its ok, this is a party after all, it happens."

"Well, true."

Their eyes met and their gazes locked.

"My names Lyra." she said.

"I'm Thunder Shock." he replied.

They stared at each other awkwardly.

"So, how are you liking the party?" Thunder Shock asked

"I think its one of Pinkie's best." Lyra replied.

"Really? Why?"

"Because your here."

"That's, so sweet."

The two smiled awkwardly. They stood there in the most silent of awkwardness anyone could with dubstep at full volume in the background until a cream colored land pony ran up to Lyra.

"Lyra," she shouted, "we have to go NOW!"

"Why, what happened?" Lyra asked.

"I just stole every disc besides the one that's playing and Vinyl is after me!"

"Bon Bon, can you go 10 minutes without stealing something?"

"Yes, its been 3 hours, that's why I took all the discs!"

"Ugg, fine." Lyra said being dragged away by Bon Bon as she dropped a paper.

Thunder Shock picked up the paper and unfolded it. Then he read it. The note said "Go down hoof lane, third house on right, see you there Thunder. From, Lyra."

"Whatcha reading?" Fluttershy asked appearing from nowhere.

"Nothing important." Thunder Shock replied trying to tuck it in the secret pony pocket. "Where's the pocket?"

"Right here." Fluttershy said as she opened Thunder Shock's pocket up a bit.

"Oh thanks." he said as he stuffed the paper in it.

"Hey, what time is it?" Fluttershy asked.

"It is two fifteen." Thunder Shock said checking his watch.

"Oh my, I have to go feed Angel." Fluttershy said as she ran out the building.

"What was that about?" Thunder Shock asked himself.

"Oh, Fluttershy has a bunch of animals, her favorite, though she won't admit it, is her bunny Angel." Octavia replied.

"Where did you come from?" Thunder Shock asked.

"Technically, my mom." she replied

"That's not what I meant."

"It's never what anypony means." she said staring at the wall

Thunder Shock slowly crept back to Colgate.

"Whats her problem?"

"She's all alone. She has nothing to do but practice being super smart and crap." Colgate said who then collapsed again.

"Where is some of that? I need to forget tonight."

"Oh relax and party." Colgate replied.

"Dude, I'm so tired already, and it feels like I haven't been here for even 10 minutes! But, it's actually been four hours."

"Here man, take this." she handed Thunder Shock some acid.

Thunder Shock grabbed it, not knowing what it was and took a sip. Instantly he lost all sense of decency. He looked into the crowd. all of them melted into a huge rainbow puddle. He then grabbed the nearest thing he could and threw it randomly and grabbed another and continued throwing causing complete chaos. He went berserk. He destroyed everything. He only stopped when he was tackled by a grey pegasus with a yellow mane.

"Woah, I never knew someone else in this town was like me!" she said

"But green antelope pickle train."

"What?"

"Darf jibble wabble."

"Dude, your worse than me." she said staying on top of him and slowly went into a sitting position on him. "Whats that feeling?" she said not noticing what she did to herself.

"Plipur cheese wumbarfal." he said slurred obviously enjoying what was happening.

"I, uhh." she said totally embarrassed as she realized what was happening. "NO, I'm not going to do that until I'm married!" she said as she flew off and smashed through a wall.

Thunder Shock was laying on the ground completely wasted. Eventually he woke up sober in a different room and his hair messed up. "Aww crap. I hope that didn't happen." he said. Then he remembered the note in his pocket and he took it out. He checked his watch. 7:13. He made a mental decision to go to Lyra's house.

When he arrived, he knocked on the door. It opened up and Lyra stuck her head out. She looked a little drowsy.

"Thunder Shock?" she asked looking a little perked up.

"Yeah, I saw your note and decided to come by, also, I don't have a place to sleep."

"Oh, well come on in!" Lyra said opening the door completely and gesturing inside.

"Thanks." he said walking in.

"That way is Bon Bon's room, she should stay in there, just don't go in, shes completely wasted. The fridge is that way and the bathroom is over there. My room is that door, the guest room is that door." she said pointing to each item as she said them. "You can sleep on the couch there or in the guest room, your choice. I'm tired so I'm going to go to sleep. See you in the morning."

'"See ya." Thunder Shock said as Lyra shut the door to her room. Then he looked around thinking, guest room or couch? Eventually he decided on guest room, so he went in, lied on the bed, and fell asleep. Tonight, he had a new question. How did he get sober and heal so fast?
