A low and cold voice sounded from Captain Hayes as he looks out into the blackness of space. He wore a white navel officer uniform has short black hair, almost buzzed like a marine and had icy blue eyes that showed the hardness of a man that has seen what many would go insane after seeing. A blue figure of a man wearing a navel uniform appeared on his terminal. This is the Redemption's AI Omega. "All systems normal Captain." "How far off are we from the edge of UNSC controlled space." "Judging by our speed I'd say we will hit the edge in 6 hours,14 minutes,and 10 seconds sir." said as the captain raised form his chair and moved to the front of the ships bridge windows. Omega shut off momentarily and reappeared at the terminal next to the window. "do you have any reading of planetary gravity near by?" "No sir." The Captain took in a sigh, he has fought though most of the Human-Covenant War. he still wonders to this day how he survived with his ship while so many others have fallen victim to the onslaught of the Covenant fleet. "I can tell something's bothering you Captain do you care to share what you are so worried about." The Captain turned his attention to Omega. "I feel that these exploration missions will come with a consequence." "I understand that, but one question, Why do you and your kind seek so much territory?" This question took the Captain completely by surprise never has an AI asked about human motives. Just then he though he saw Omega flicker red. "Humanity needs space to expand and to gain resources to maintain our needs so we expand our territory to get them. also we lost a number of colonies to the war and we need new once to replace them." "I still don't see the point Human have enough as it is have you not learned for the covenant?" "Omega go offline." "Answer my Question!" The AI blurted out as the cockpit started to go hay wire. Omega was now flickering red repeatedly. 'Oh no' Captain Hayes thought in his mind, he knew what was happening. UNSC Redemption Near the ODST Drop Pods Rookie was leaned up against his drop pod as he slept from boredom. he was wear his ODST armor as usual no one saw him without it with his helmet on. Most of the crew don't even know what he looks like, well all of them don't. The only people in the UNSC that knew who he looked like was the men he trained with and those in extreme high command. Sadly all the men he trained with have been killed in the war. He was the only survivor of his class. No one even knows what his voice sounded like he was mute. He never talks and only does gestures when he gives a response. His squad named fire team Theta are use to him by now and have taken a liking to him, even thou he's mute and is a social outcast. There's only one thing they know about him no one else know which was his age. he was only 20, he signed up for the ODST at 18. Rookie opened his eyes when he saw the light to the ship start to act up. Just then a voice sounded over the coms. "We have an AI going into rampancy in the bridge, all-" The coms were cut off and went static. Rookie just raised a brow under his helmet confused on what was happening. he understood the rampancy since he has an AI of his own. Given to him after his first campaign and impressing the high command. His AI was new thou so he didn't have to worry about it for a while. oddly enough his AI was named after his squad Theta. Within a few seconds the ship jerked causing Rookie to faceplant the metal floor with a loud thud. Rookie Groaned as he got up rubbing his head. he got back up and heard the coms came online again. "All hand to your cyro-tubes, all hand to your cyro-tubes, the Redemption has entered slip space, I repeat the Redemption has entered slip space." Rookie quickly got up and headed for his cyro-tube where his squad was already inside there tubes. He enters the tube and after a couple of seconds he is iced. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1: Where the hell? //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1: Where the hell? UNSC Redemption August 13, 2561 06:00 Hours Rookie was waken up from his cyro sleep the next day. His vision was blurry at first but as it cleared, there in front of him stood Captain Hayes. Rookie left the cyro tube and saluted him without a word. Hayes returned the salute. "At ease ODST." Rookie put his arms behind him with his leg shoulder width apart in parade rest. "Rookie come with me to the bridge I'm sending you on a mission." Without another word Rookie followed Captain Hayes to the bridge where a hand full of people on consoles. Rookie raised a brow at what he saw outside the view window. Outside was a green planet much like earth. Rookie knew it wasn't earth do to the planets geography for orbit. Captain Hayes lead him to a hologram table in the middle of the bridge, pressed a few buttons, then the screen lit up with the planet on the screen as well as a diagram of the Redemption. "I'll give the news bluntly, we are stranded in the planet's orbit. Omega has been detained but not without doing his damage. He's destroyed the slip space drive and our engines, our ship can not move. Our location is unknown we are in uncharted space. This part is where you come in, I'm sending you to drop onto the planet surface to recon the area. Since you have an AI of your own you should be fine down there, take what ever you need. We will drop a warthog with you, it wont have turret so your on your own. Any questions?" Rookie simply shook is head. "Alright prepare to drop and good luck." They saluted each other and Rookie went off to the armory. On the way to the armory, it was dead silent. you could probably hear a pin hit the ground from all the way across the hall. once Rookie got to the armory, he quickly grabbed standard weaponry of an spec ops mission. he grabbed a silenced M7 Caseless Submachine gun, as well as a M6 Magnum. With plenty of ammunition Rookie headed towards his pod and strapped up. His hatch closed as the pod turned and descended. Now hanging under the Redemption he got a quick glance at the planet. With 2 low beeps then 1 at an high octave the pod launched and began its decent. After a while the window of the pod started to glow red meaning he is now entering the atmosphere. Didn't take long until Rookie's pod went thought a storm cloud. The window began to collect rain but was blown clean off due to the pods speed. Rookie saw where his landing location would be, and of course it was in a forest how fun. Canterlot Castle, Equestria Before Drop Luna was looking out of her telescope looking into space. Everything was normal until she found something strange. A large metal object was sitting outside the atmosphere. Luna was so concentrated on this sight she did not notice her sister Celestia near her. "Luna may I ask what you are looking at?" Celestia asked coming up to Luna's side. "Ah, Sister it seems I discovered something that I've never seen before. Care to tell me what it might be, I've never seen anything like it." Luna looking up to her sister as she backed away from the telescope. Celestia took her place and looked though the telescope to see what she has seen. "Hmm...I've never seen anything like it, I'm afraid I don't know what it is. wait there's something written on it. it says Redemption." There on the side of the metal object in big white letters the word redemption what spelt. Luna took the place of Celestia and saw the writing then something moved on the object. "sister I see something moving on the strange object." As Luna spoke she saw something eject from the metal object. she followed it to see a smaller metal object. "It might be a meteor." Celestia said while looking towards her sister who was still watching the strange object. "No it can't be it's too symmetrical to be a meteor. It coming strait towards the planet." Luna at this moment was kind of panicking and excited at the same time. This could be a threat or a brand new discovery nothing like Equestria has every seen. "What do you think we should do sister?" Luna looking away from the telescope to Celestia. Celestia put her hoof under her chin and thought about the situation. After a moment she turned back to Luna. "Monitor the larger object I'll send a message to twilight and the elements to investigate the smaller one." Luna nodded in agreement and looked back to the telescope to see yet another object eject for the larger metal object. She decided to ignore it and continue to watch the Redemption. Ponyville, Equestia Twilight was doing her usual studies, she couldn't go outside due to the weather. Cloudsdale scheduled a pouring today. She looked away from her book to look outside. The streets were pretty much deserted due to the storm as the rain poured outside with audible thuds as the rain hit the windows. All of a sudden a bright orange glow appeared in the sky. Twilight looked in awe as the glow grew larger. she snapped out of her trance when Spike let out a burp and a scroll materialized. "Twilight, a letter from Celestia for you." Twilight grabbed the letter, opened it and read it. Dear Twilight, I must inform you that me and Luna have discovered an odd metal object we have never seen before orbiting the planet. It also come to my attention that another smaller object fell off of the larger one and is heading for the surface. Judging by the objects decent it will hit near Ponyville very soon after you receive this message. I wish for you to gather the Elements and investigate it as soon as possible and report to me about your findings Sincerely Princess Celestia "This must be pretty serious if the Princess is getting worked up." Just then she saw the glow hit the ground inside the Everfree, it was far away from Ponyville but still could see a bit of dirt fly into the air as it hit. " I better get the girls once the rain stops, but I do have a bad feeling about this." Everfree Forest Rookie's pod hit with a large thud. luckily he landed in an opening in the forest, it wasn't a fun feeling smashing into trees inside a pod. Rookie quickly activated the explosive bolts to release the hatch. with a beep the hatch rocket forward letting in the rain from the outside hit rookies visor. Rookie climbed out of his pod and pressed a button on his gauntlet, a few seconds later a small blue and orange figure dressed in Spartan gear appeared next to his right shoulder. "how may I be of assistance sir?" Theta ask in a young boy's voice. Rookie is able to talk to Theta telepathy since he is technical in his head, basically telling him to locate the dropped warthog and to scan the area. Theta nodded in response and with in a few seconds came up with a result. "The warthog is about 7 clicks to the west of your position also no life forms have been detected near by." Rookie nodded his thanks and told Theta to keep an eye out. Rookie took the time to look at his surroundings, it was rather dark in the forest and really silent except the storm above them. He had to wipe his visor that was now full with rain just to somewhat see. Rookie returned to his pod to grab his M7 and ammunition and started to walk west in the direction of his warthog. It didn't take him long to hear movement from a bush nearby. Rookie gave a questionable look to Theta, he said nothing was near by. "I swear reading show no life forms sir, I didn't make a mistake." Theta quickly coming to his defense. Theta has always been a shy AI the only one he has ever opened up to was rookie. For that reason he like to please and help him in anyway and not get on his bad side. Rookie sensed that Theta was feeling scared that he might have made the silent ODST mad but if there's one thing Rookie learned in his time with the AI is that he was unable to get mad at him. He always like Theta, it was the reason he agreed to have him. Training kicked in as Rookie level his SMG at the source of the disturbance. As things went silent he heard a low growl coming from the bush in front of him. Rookie slowly stepped back trying not to provoke what ever was inside the bush, he could feel his heart beating faster as he cautiously retreated. But whatever was in front of him decided that was the time to strike. with a furious snarl the creature lunged at Rookie. Rookie rolled to his right to dodge the coming attack, he turned to the beast and level his SMG and shot 2 bullets strait into its head. The creature let out a pained yelp and collapsed to the ground. SMG still leveled Rookie slow walked towards the creature he just shot to see how this thing was able to sneak under a Bio scan. When he got a closer look the creature was in the form of a wolf, the interesting thing was that it had no muscle system or organic material on it at all. It was made completely out of wood, Without any bio material no wonder the scan missed it. Rookie noticing the threat and left the area quickly to avoid any more surprises. This time nothing happened, it was all silent nothing but the rain pouring down on the forest on the lone ODST. The ODST looked over to Theta and motioned to the sky then putting his hand over his head blocking the rain then pointed to Theta. " You don't have to do that to me you know, I can read your thoughts. Anyway I'll see if I can find shelter near by." After a moment of silence Theta looked to Rookie. "There's a cave not to far from here, its about 400 meter to the north." Rookie nodded his thanks and walked north. About 15 minutes later he found the cave Theta mentioned and went inside. Rookie turned on his flash light on his SMG and peered inside. Cave wasn't that deep it was only about 10 yards deep, adequate enough to wait out the storm. He leaned on the cave wall and looked out to the forest as the rain sill poured. Besides the wooden wolf attack it was quite peaceful here. Rookie was always on planets that was crawling in Covenant activity during the war. He's been in space ever since the war ended being on multiple ships until he was sent with the Redemption. Rookie placed his M7 down next to him and watched as the storm takes it course. Author's Note I like this idea of a story. The main Character is based of Rookie from Halo 3: ODST as well as Theta from Red vs Blue. I will still be doing my other story just having writers block on it at the moment. any way hope you enjoy the story so far. I kind of bad telling stories. //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2: Recon //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2: Recon Ponyville, Equestra August 13, 2561 14:00 Hours All of the main six were gathered at twilight's library after the storm. "Alright girls, as you might know by now due to the rumors. Something landed in the Everfree forest and the Princess wants us to investigate. So any Questions before we leave?" Twilight asked. Rainbow was the first to ask. "Umm. Yea do you have any idea what that thing could be?" Twilight shook her head. "No I have no idea, neither does the Princess. So anymore Questions?" They all shook their heads. "Alright good. Now let's get going shall we." The Elements left the library and started to make their way to the forest on there quest to find the thing that has landed on their planet. Everfree Froest August 13, 2561 14:10 Rookie woke up to the sun rays hitting his visors, he must have fallen asleep during the storm. Theta appeared in front of him as his view cleared. "Ah your awake. I would have woken you up when the storm cleared but I decided it would be better for you to rest. I also took the liberty of marking a waypoint to the warthog." Rookie got up from where he was and picked up his M7. He pressed a button on his helmet and a gold diamond appeared with a number under it showing the location of the warthog and the distance. He left the cover of the cave and continued his march to his dropped warthog, hopefully nothing in this wilderness has found or damaged it. By this time Rookie was only a click and a half away from his destination when Theta appeared. "Sir I getting readings of life forms nearing your drop pod. I advice we quicken our pace so they can't catch up." Rookie nodded in agreement and quicken into a jog. Whatever was nearing his pod, he did not want them to find him. UNSC Redemption August 13, 2561 14:15 "Sir, the Slip-space drive and engines are beyond repair." Captain Hayes was seeing if the engineers were able to make any progress on repairs, but it seems that it was hopeless to repair the damage Omega has done. Hayes taking in a sigh before replying to the engineer. "So your saying we are stranded here until we can get replacements." "To put it bluntly yes." Hayes face palmed knowing that the situation his crew was now in was dire. They are stranded in uncharted space with no chance in repairing at least their engines. The chance of sending a distress signal to a UNSC ship was slim to none. The ship had less than a year of supplies and he knew rationing the ships food wont go well with the crew. "I hope Rookie is having more success than we are." Hayes said to himself. Everfree Forest August 13, 2561 14:25 Twilight and her friends have been in the forest for nearly half an hour now moving towards the location of the object that came from the sky earlier today. Most of the trip went smoothly except the one time where some bushes rustled causing Fluttershy to bolt. Of course it was only a squirrel. Besides that nothing really happened. They come up to a clearing and find what they have been looking for. In front of them was a large metal object. Twilight moved up to the opening while her friends looked around the area. What she found was interesting. It looked like what ever this thing was could hold something. "Twilight over here!" Rainbow Dash yelled. Twilight came up to where Rainbow was hovering to find yet another metal piece. She looked at it for a while then back to the other object and realized that something was inside of it,and it was now gone. Panic swept over her as she knew what ever was inside that pod could not have been good. "Girls we need to get back to Ponyville now and inform the Princess." The ponies regrouped and rushed back to Ponyville. "Sir, the six life forms near your pod are leaving in a different direction than ours it seems we've gone unnoticed." Theta stated. By now Rookie was only 250 meters from his objective. "Wait picking up new life forms. 2 of them are heading towards your warthog at a fast pace." With that Rookie picked up his pace into a full sprint. Whatever the life forms were he was not about to let them damage the vehicle. As Rookie quickly closed the distance to the warthog he was met with the two creatures. One was something he has never seen before. it resembled a horse but smaller with a black coat. It also had holes in it legs, red insect like wings with the same color shell on its back and red eyes. Judging by the panicked expression on it, The creature was being chased by a much larger being that resembled a Persian manticorn. Rookie stopped and took aim at the maticorn with his M7 only for it to be knocked out of his hand by a massive paw. The manticorn used his own momentum to tackle Rookie and send him flying to a nearby tree. Rookie quickly push back the pain and pulled out his M6 magnum and fired 2 rounds that hits the manticorn in the face. After the manticorn fell Rookie took a second to recover his bearings. "Sir the other life form is hiding behind the warthog." Rookie looked over to the warthog to see the black insect like horse cowering behind the warthog. Rookie took in a sigh before getting to his feet and walking towards the creature with his M6 in his hand. As he drew closer however he was complete taken off guard of what happened next. "Please, don't h-hurt me." The small horse can speak! Instinct kicked in as Rookie Raised his M6 at pointed it at the small creature, but was hesitant to pull the trigger. What he saw in what he now knew was a male talking horse was a look he knew all too well. Pure and utter fear. Though his experience he has seen this look over thousands of civilians. From men, women and children. Memory took its toll as he remembered these looks, only to remind him of the entire planets being glassed as millions of innocents were killed. After awhile Rookie lowered his weapon and slowly made his way towards the creature. As he came closer the being started to retreat. Seeing this Rookie lowered himself on a knee let out a hand and gave a small whistle. The creature stop retreating at the sight of the strange movement. Rookie slowly advanced, he was now able to reach a distance where he could touch this new creature. He let down his hand and rubbed the creatures ear finding it soft and warm due to its fur. The weird horse jumped at the touch at first but started to relax as Rookie continued to rub his ears. Then a low noise sounded from the horse, Rookie recognized it as this horse seemed to be purring. Rookie let a small smirk form on his face under his visor. After a while Rookie broke contact from it and moved to pick up his M7. Then Proceeded to the warthog and got into the driver's seat. Rookie watched saw the small black horse take off into the trees. Rookie simply shrugged and turned on the ignition to the warthog. The warthog roared to life. Rookie pressed the acceleration and the warthog began its advance though the forest. It was not long however when Theta appeared. "Sir, it seems that thing from earlier is following us from above." Rookie raised a brow at this but ignored it he has his mission to deal with and can't afford anymore distractions. As the warthog raced forward Rookie saw an opening in the tree line and entered a very large plain with a road. Rookie knew a road meant civilization. Knowing full well the risk of contact of this civilization, Rookie drove the warthog on the road and followed it not know where it will lead. Author's Note this took a while. I'm really surprised about the amount of support on this and I'm glad you guys are liking this so far. hopefully I can keep pleasing you further on. //-------------------------------------------------------// Update //-------------------------------------------------------// Update Its been a while since this story has had any sort of update. I have recently finished high school and now have free time due to the lack of marching band. I have to admit that any attempt of continuing this story has resulted in major writer's blocks. I was thinking of canceling the story, but due to popular demand I will be continuing this story to the best of my ability. Seems I have to read over what I currently have and continue from there.
