Dash Dodgers

As Celestia set the sun over Ponyville, pegasus ponies moved in dark clouds, filled with rain over the village. Lightning flashed in the sky as the clouds grew heavier and darker.

Inside one of the quaint Victorian cottages, Scootaloo sat impatiently in her living room with a bowl of freshly popped popcorn. She and Rainbow Dash, her new big sister were having their very first girls' night. Popcorn, cold drinks, and best of all, the classic sci-fi movie HoofTrek.

"Come on Rainbow Dash, lets start the movie."

Rainbow Dash popped her head in from the kitchen.

"One sec Scoots. The shakes are almost done."

The sounds of a blender came from the kitchen. Scootaloo nervously eyed the dark clouds building up in the sky.

Rainbow came into the living room carrying two glasses in her hooves.

"Here we go. Rainbow milk shakes, my own recipe." Scootaloo sipped some of the shake.

"Awesome. Hey Rainbow Dash? Do you think it'll be okay in this rainstorm."

"No sweat squirt. I scheduled this storm to have only a little bit of lightning, but not enough that we have a problem with it. Now how bout we start the movie."

Holding the videotape in her teeth, Rainbow placed it into the VCR and pushed it in with her hoof.

"EBI WARNING: The content on this videotape is protected by the International Copyright Laws of Equestria. Reproduction of this tape is strictly prohibited."

"Uhh let's fast forward."

Rainbow fast forwarded the tape to the beginning of the movie.

"And now our feature presentation."

On screen was an image of Princess Clelestia with a bright light glowing form her horn, and the words "Celestia Pictures".

Celestia Pictures Presents, A Green Brickleberry Production, HOOFTREK: The Motion Picture; but just as the opening credits finished an unexpected loud crack of thunder startled the two ponies, and took the power out.

"What the hay?" Rainbow Dash looked around at the dark room.

"Hey! The movie's gone." Scoots squealed.

"The electricity is out."Rainbow Dash flicked the light switch with her hoof. Nothing happened.

"But what about our movie. You said this wouldn't be a bad storm." Scoots whined.

"Hold on, I'm going to call the weather patrol. Find out what happened."

Rainbow picked up the phone and dialed the weather patrol.

"Hello. Cloudsdale Weather Patrol. This is Thunderlane."

"Hey Thunderlane, it's Rainbow Dash."

"Hey Dash! How's it hangin."

"Not too good. What's up with this storm? Power is out all over Ponyville. We scheduled this storm to be only moderate in severity."

"I'll see what happened. Let me put you on hold."

The hold was a musical hold and was the G1 My Little Pony theme song. Rainbow waited twirling the receiver chord with her hoof.

"We gotta get a better hold song."

Thunderlane came back on the line.

"Dash, we found the problem. The dial that controls the intensity of thunderstorms, somepony spilled hot chocolate on it and shorted it out."

"What! Who?"

"Well there was a half bitten muffin there too. I'll give you three guesses."

Rainbow Dash clenched her face in annoyance. She took a deep breath and collected herself.

"When do you think you can fix it?"

"We have a team fixing it right now, but the wiring and circuitry is all fried. It'll take till morning. In the meantime I'd say we gotta a doozy of a thunderstorm on our hooves. Have a good night." Thunderlane hung up.

Rainbow sighed and hung up the phone.

"Well what did they say?" asked Scootaloo.

"There's been some technical difficulties at the weather factory, so we're stuck with this storm until morning."

"So there's no movie night?" Scootaloo looked up at Rainbow with wide watery eyes.

"Sorry Scoots. There's nothing we can do about it."

Scoots snorted and went into full mope.

"Our night is ruined."

Rainbow smiled. She wasn't going to let their good night get rained out.

"Hey. Come on. So we don't have the movie to watch. We can find something else to do."

"Like what." Scootaloo huffed.

"I don't know anything. Play a game, draw, read a book. I got the new Daring Do book."

"I don't like Daring Do."

"How bout we play with your action figures."

"Nah."

Rainbow Dash sweated a little bit. Scootaloo had been looking forward to this night for a while, and it was about to go down the manure pit.

"I was really excited about seeing that movie. I love sci-fi stories." Scootaloo sighed.

Suddenly, a light went off in Rainbow's multi-colored brain, and she had a briliant idea.

"Say. I got an idea. You're gonna love it. Instead of watching a sci-fi story, how about I tell you one."

"Say what now."

"I'll make up a sci-fi story, and I'll act it out."

"Make it up? But it won't be the same as in the movies."

"Well where do you think they get this stuff for the movies, they make it up. And you have the best movie screen in all Equestria right up here." Rainbow tapped Scoot's head with her hoof. "Your imagination."

Scootaloo was skeptical about this, but anything could be better than sitting in the dark.

"Now close your eyes, and I want you to imagine outer space." said Rainbow.

Scootaloo closed her eyes and put her hooves against her head.

"You're not imagining it, I really want you to imagine it."

Scootaloo imagined as hard as she could, and began to picture the vast black star field of outer space. Rainbow Dash began to tell her story.

"The vast reaches of Outer Space. Here in this black sea of emptiness lies the Equestrian Galaxy. Home to billions of stars and planets. The planets in this galaxy are united into the peaceful Equestrian Republic of Planets. When trouble threatens to tear up the long fought tranquility, the galaxy calls for one hero."

A spaceship zooms past us from out of the void. It bears a similar shape to the SR-71 Blackbird, and sports a rainbow contrail in its wake.

"A pony unmatched by her bravery, loyalty, and awesomesness. The one, the only, Dash Dodgers!!!"

Dash Dodgers explodes on screen with a blue background. It's Rainbow Dash with a blue spandex suit, dark blue gold trimmed gauntlets on her hooves, and with a large image of Rainbow's cutie mark on her chest. She sneers at us in Rainbow Dash's usual brash way.

Dash's spaceship, the Wonderbolt 4 zoomed across the stars. Inside the cockpit, Dash is in the pilot seat napping(just as her creator usually does). Her ship is apparently running on autopilot. Suddenly a buzzer starts going off indicating a video call is coming through. Dash turns in her chair onto her stomach as if she was in a bed. She murmurs and drools in her sleep.

"I wanna ride the little pony."

"Incoming call from Planet Canterlia. Incoming call from Planet Canterlia." said the ship's computer. Dash groggily woke up.

"What's that now?"

"Incoming call from Planet Canterlia."

"Ponyfeathers! A call!"

Dash sat up in her chair, wiped the drool from her mouth, and fixed her hair.

"Onscreen."

A projector came up out of the control panel and flashed on. Princess Twilacorn (Twilight Sparkle) appeared in a projected hologram.

"Dash Dodgers." said Twilacorn. "This is Princess Twilacorn of Canterlia requesting your audience."

"Yes princess, what's the trouble."

"A great threat to the peace and tranqulity of the galaxy is emerging, and we need your help."

"Keep your shoes on princess, I'm on my way."

The hologram clicked off and went back into the panel.

"Computer. Set course for Canterlia, and prepare for rainbow drive."

Dash hit a few buttons on the console.

"Course for Canterlia set. Awaiting jump to rainbow drive."

Dash pulled a lever on her console, the stars streamed toward the ship and the Wonderbolt 4 sonic rainboomed into a rainbow colored tunnel with a bright light at the end.

"I love this part!!!" Dash squealed as her ship zoomed through the space at an unimaginable speed.

Minutes later, the ship rainboomed out of rainbow drive and approached the planet, Canterlia. The Wonderbolt 4 flew its way through the planet's main city filled with mile high buildings and flying ponycrafts, landing at the cities spaceport. Dash walked down the the ships access ramp as two robot attendants, bearing likenesses to Snips and Snails approached with hoses and tools.

"Just a washdown and some fuel. Keep the change." She flipped the robots two bits.

Dash entered one of the teleporters at the side of the spaceport. She punched in her destination to Princess Twilacorn's palace. Hitting the green button, her body vaporized in the glass tube shaped teleporter, and re-appeared at the palace teleporters. Dash saw stars and felt nauseous after her re-animation.

"Ughh. I never get used to that." She shook her head and headed for the palace gate. The guards stopped her.

"Halt! Who goes there!"

"Dash Dodgers, the most awesomest space pony ever."

The guards nodded to each other, and let her through. Dash went up to the door of the palace and rang the doorbell, which rang the My Little Pony theme song in successive electronic tones. The door opened revealing a small purple dragon like droid.

"Greetings. I am SP1K3. All automated cybertronic service relations droid. How might I be..."

"Save it. Take me to the princess." Dash cut off. The baby dragon droid hung its head it annoyance at the pegasus's rude introduction.

"Right this way please."

The dragon droid led Dash to the throne room where Princess Twilacorn was perched upon her throne, her two enormous wings spread out from where she sat, held in place by harnesses.

"Dash Dodgers, glad you responded to my request so quickly.

"What's the trouble princess?"

"Come, we have much to talk about."

Twilacorn got up from her throne to come down. As she stepped off her two large wings suddenly detached from her back.

Dash was aghast that the princesses grand wings were fake.

"Right this way." said Twilacorn as she walked past. Dash and SP1K3 followed.

"The Equestrian Republic of Planets is facing an unprecedented crisis, which is why I've sent for you Dodgers."

"Let me guess, the Great and Powerful Trixstia is up to her old tricks again."

"Unfortunately with this new threat I wish it was Trixstia. The ponies and droid entered a huge room which had a 40 story blue wall, and took there place on an anti-gravity platform in the middle of the room. The platform rose to half the height of the screen and stopped. A holographic map of the galaxy appeared on the blue wall.

"This is a map of the Equestrian Galaxy." Said Twilacorn. "Peaceful, gay, unaware of any problems. Now lets zoom out to beyond the borders of the galaxy."

The map zoomed out revealing a large shade of pink approaching the galaxies outer borders.

"Woah!" said Dash in a radical tone.

"As you can see, we have a growing pink problem."

The screen flashed to an image of a character in a metalic dark pink suit with a scary looking helmet.

"This is the mastermind behind that pink invasion. Empress Pinkamena, or as she's known inter-galactically, the Pink Nightmare. Commander of the forces behind the Pink Empire. She seeks to invade our galaxy and one by one force each planet under the rule of Pink. Her first target is planet Jeweladar, near the outer border. A jewel mining kingdom controlled by Queen Rarimor.

"And you want me to try and stop the Pink empire from conquering this planet."

"Can you do it Dodgers?"

"Why of course I can princess, as there is no pony braver or awesome to face this threat than...DASH DODGERS!!!"

Landing back onto the platform after announcing herself, the leverage of Dash's landing catapulted the princess and droid off the platform. They fell 20 stories to the ground, hitting the floor with a thud. Princess Twilacorn looked up from the floor dazed and annoyed.

"Why do you put up with her." asked SP1K3.

Later the princess briefed Dash some more on her upcoming mission.

"I've fed the coordinates of Jeweladar to your ship, and charged SP1K3 to search more information on the nature of the Pink Empire, after I've finished giving him new circuitry. Report in once you've reached Jeweladar."

"Yes ma'am."

"Good luck Dash Dodgers."

Unbeknownst the the princess, SP1K3 printed out a sign from a computer that said "Out of Order". He attached it to his front and proceeded to leave the throne room. Twilacorn caught him with her magic, pulling off the sign and ripping it up.

"Nice try, but you're getting new circuits. No ifs, ands, or buts."

The dragon droid moaned an electronic moan.
