Soaring through the sky, Rainbow Dash couldn’t feel any freer. Rainbow loved flying more than anything else in the world; after all, she is known as the best flier in Ponyville. The wind through her mane and just the overall feeling of being up in the clear blue sky made her feel relaxed. Nothing could stop this feeling. “Rainbow!” a familiar voice called. “Twilight?” Rainbow quietly mumbled. What was so important as to interrupt her daily flying routine? Rainbow couldn’t wonder. “What’s the matter?” Rainbow called. “I have some interesting news you might like to hear!” Twilight shouted back. Rainbow swooped down towards the ground to hear this so called ‘interesting’ news her lavender friend was about to tell her.
“So, what’s the buzz?” Rainbow asked. “There’s a new pony in town! I don’t know her name yet, I don’t think anypony does so far, but she’s said to be the fastest pony ever!” Twilight exclaimed. “Fastest pony ever, huh? You all should know there’s no pony as fast as me!” Rainbow exclaimed. “Mhm, sure thing,” Twilight murmured. “What? It’s the truth! If you think she’s faster than me, t-then you should feel ashamed!” Dash yelled. “Rainbow Dash, sometimes there’s going to be a pony that’s going to be better than you at something, flying and being fast included,” Twilight told her. “Oh just hush Twi. I’m going to find that pony, and prove to her and everypony, that I’m the fastest pony ever!” Dash exclaimed, and then flew off, starting her search for her rival. “You do that,” Twilight mumbled, feeling irritated, and then walked back to her library. Twilight knew this wasn’t going to be good.
Exploring Ponyville wasn’t the easiest thing to do, especially for Rainbow, who mostly spent her time in the clouds. “Ugh, where could she be? She can’t be that hard to find! There has to be a pony that stands out here!” Dash checked almost every corner of Ponyville. She was sure of it. “Oh who am I kidding? I’m never going to find her at this rate...” She sighed for a moment, and then a glorious idea struck her. “Hmm, I know a pony that might just help me find her. After all, she does know every pony in Ponyville,” Rainbow then flew off in a hurry. “Why didn’t I think of this before? This is obviously going to make this search way easier!”
Rainbow stopped just outside of SugarCube Corner, and then gently knocked on the door.
The door quickly swung open, and a cheerful pink pony was to be seen. “Oh, hey Dashie! Come right in!” the pink pony said cheerfully. “So, what can I do for you today?” she asked. “I just baked these fresh batches of cupcakes! They’re vanilla flavour! Want to have a taste?” she asked. “Uh, actually, as much as I’d love to taste them Pinkie Pie, I’m kind of here to ask for a favour,” Rainbow asked sheepishly. “Oh, okay! So what do you need help with? Baking, cleaning, setting up a party, helping take care of Tan-,” Rainbow cut her off. “I need help searching for a pony!” Rainbow exclaimed. “Aw, that should be easy peasy, lemon squeezy! After all, I do know just about every pony in Ponyville! Is she the new pony Twilight told me about?” Pinkie asked. “Yeah, and I need your help finding her! Have you already met her?” Rainbow asked impatiently. “Of course I have, silly billy! She’s really nice, and really fast, too!” Pinkie exclaimed. Rainbow Dash felt irritated hearing that. “So, where is she?” she asked. “Just follow me!” Pinkie said, and bounced along, whilst Dash followed her behind.
“So, where did you meet her? Do you know her name?” Dash asked. “Right near Town Hall! And her name is Alli!” Pinkie replied. “What type of pony is she? A Pegasus? Unicorn? Earth Pony?” she kept asking. “She’s an Earth Pony! Just like me!” Pinkie giggled. “What does she look like?” she kept asking all of these questions. “Hmm, well as far as I can remember, she has light bluish-green fur, a long dark brown mane and tail, and light green eyes!” Pinkie replied. “And her cutie mark?” Dash asked. “Oh, I don’t know! She didn’t show me it. She hid it behind her tail!” Pinkie replied. A blank flank? Dash wondered. “Well, thanks for the information Pinkie,” she said. “Anytime, Dashie!” Pinkie replied, still bouncing along.
They both stopped outside of a small cottage. “Here we are!” Pinkie yelled. Dash knocked on the wooden door. The door opened. “Oh, hey Pinkie! I see you brought along a friend,” Alli said. “Yup, her name’s Rainbow Dash! She is a good friend of mine!” Pinkie replied. “Hey,” Dash said. “Nice to meet you,” Alli replied. “So I heard you’ve been said to be the fastest pony ever, huh?” Dash asked. “Yup, back in my old town Canterlot, I used to compete in many races as a filly, still do now. I won all of them, even brought along a few medals,” Alli replied smugly. “Well, just so you know, I’m like, the fastest pony in Ponyville. So if you ever want to compete with me, just know you’ll be 2nd place from now on,” Dash said smugly, trying to build up her confidence. “Oh, feisty attitude. Kid, you keep telling yourself that,” Alli replied. “Oh no…” Pinkie mumbled. “Why don’t we hold a race? Whoever wins gets the honour of being called the fastest pony alive. The loser will be called the slowest pony on earth. Deal?” Rainbow asked. “You betcha’,” Alli replied.
“Rainbow, why’d you say that? All of us in Ponyville already know you are the fastest pony in Ponyville!” Pinkie said. “I just want to prove a point. There can’t be two ponies in this town that are fast!” Dash replied. “Oh, I guess…” Pinkie replied sadly. “What’s the deal? Something bothering you?” Rainbow asked. “Oh, no. I’m okay!” Pinkie replied. “Okay then. Well we need to set up this race! Call all of our friends to help! We need to prove a point,” Dash exclaimed. “Well, okay,” Pinkie replied, and bounced off.
