Chapter 1
*BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!*
“Uhhhhhgggg!” Exie moaned as she stirred in her slumber.
*BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!*
“Oh my god,” she said groggily as she blindly swatted her cream colored hoof at her nightstand where her alarm clock laid.
*BEEP! BEEP! BEE-*
Exie sighed in relief as her alarm clock stopped beeping right next to her and took a few seconds to completely snap out of her drowsy state when suddenly,
*RIIIIINNNNGG!!*
She sat up in her bed letting her messy crimson red mane to flow over her shoulders. Looking over at her nightstand her cellphone rang and vibrated. On a normal day in the city of Baltimare she would have ignored the ringing and check it in five minutes. But knowing who the caller probably is it won’t be easy to do the “5 more minutes” charade. Reaching over she grabbed her phone revealing two things: it was 6AM “I seriously want to know who is the chucklehead that decided to make school start at 8 in the morning” She thought; And the identity of the caller. As she answered the phone she let escape a yawn and an exasperated sigh, “Hello?”
“Exie, you up?”
“Noooooooo, I’m talking in my sleep. Of course I’m up!”
“Yeesh, I’m just making sure you didn’t oversleept again”
“Don’t worry Thunderwing, it won’t happen again and besides, I had a ton of homework and didn’t finished till’ after midnight”
“Well I’m doing this for your own sake, I don’t want your parents yelling at you again”
“Well then shut up and let me get ready”
“Soooorrry!” “Somepony woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning” Thunderwing mumbled. “Me and Odysseus will be over to pick you in an hour, Bye.”
“Bye”, she then hanged up the phone and placed it back on the nightstand, not really surprised by any of it. In fact she should be used to waking up every school day and being checked on by one of her best friends, Thunderwing, making sure she was up and picking her up to walk to school.
After one last yawn she kicked her bed sheets of herself and lazily got up. Giving the alarm clock one last glance, she read 6:10 A.M. “I’d better hurry up or else I won’t hear the end of it from Thunderwing or my parents” After a quick shower Exie grabbed a brush and walked up the the bathroom mirror. Wiping away the fogged up mirror it revealed a cream colored mare with wet crimson red mane and aqua blue eyes, and proceeded combing her mane. After being satisfied with a simple ponytail with a black bow.
When she got back to her room the alarm clock blinked 6:30 A.M. Grabbing her saddlebag, Exie threw her cell phone and schoolbooks into it and galloped out of the room and down the stairs and poured herself a bowl of Nutty Oats cereal and began to eat and wait until Thunderwing and Odysseus came by.
When the ebony grandfather clock in the living room struck 7 A.M. a knock came from the front door. Exie walked over to the sink and placed her now empty bowl in it and walked to the front door.
“Who is it?” she asked jokingly.
“Do I really need to say it?” winned Thunderwing.
“Yes, yes you do, now say what you need to say” demanded Exie.
“Fine” said Thunderwing with a defeated groan, and coughed to clear his throat, “Nevermind, I’m not going to say it just open the door we need to go”
“Damn it!” cussed Exie as she unlocked and open the door, “And you were about to say it this time”
Standing in front of her was Thunderwing Nightingale: an adolescent dark-gray pegasus with messy long black mane with a white highlight down his mane and tail and aqua-blue eyes like her’s. But there was a great difference between the young colt before her and herself: he has a cutie mark. His cutie mark had an image of a bow with a loaded arrow with a bolt of electricity that intertwined with the arrow.
Behind him was his younger brother Odysseus Blacksmith Nightingale: an adolescent light-brown unicorn with spiky white and light-gray mane with hazel eyes. Like his older brother, he had his cutie mark: a hammer and anvil in front of a fire.
While they both had saddlebags like herself, they were customized for each other. “You guys ready?”
“Exie, please” huffed Thunderwing “We were up at 4 in the morning, done some chores, and did my morning exercises”
“Even though I told a certain SOMEPONY to not wake me up today that early” commented Odysseus.
“Then let’s get going, we don’t have all the time in the world” yelled Exie as she galloped down the street, “race you guys there!”
“Ho ho ho! You shouldn’t have said that” warned Thunderwing.
“Hey! No fair!” complained Odysseus.
“Ha Ha!” yelled Thunderwing victoriously when he reached a school named Horseshoe High.
Then a exhausted Exie came galloping seconds later, “No... Fair... You... Flew... Most... Of the way... Here...” gasped Exie stopping at each word to catch her breath.
“Now that’s not true, I only flew the last block”
“Well it doesn’t matter which of you two got here first cuz’ I got here first” claimed Odysseus as he approached them from behind Thunderwing with a sly smile.
Both surprised, Exie and Thunderwing turned to look at the brown unicorn with a dumbfounded looks on their faces, which made Odysseus to burst into laughter.
“WHEN DID YOU GET HERE!?” yelled Exie who was the first between the two to snap out of her suprised state.
Odysseus chuckled and tapped his horn, “I’m offended you guys, I can’t believe you guys forgot that I’m a unicorn”
Exie rolled her eyes at him and walked up to Thunderwing, “Cheater” “Thunderwing you there?” as she waved a hoof in front of him.
Thunderwing walked up to his brother and backhoofed his head. “Don’t you ever fucking scare me like that bro”
“Ow” groaned Odysseus as he rubbed his aching head.
“Well, let’s get to class” suggested Thunderwing.
“Fine” groaned Exie and Odysseus.
“I swear, these teachers think we are freaking geniuses!” thought Exie as she took a surprise Pre-Calculus test her teacher: Dr. Jupiter: a white middle age unicorn with lime green mane and green eyes and with the symbol of PI as his cutie mark.
Although Thunderwing was in The Junior Royal Guard class: a class in which shows the cadets leadership skills and every thursday they have to wear the royal guard uniform; and Odysseus was a sophomore, so he didn’t take Pre-Calculus. “But there is somepony that can help me”
She took out her cellphone and tapped it a couple of times. Then across the room a faint Bing! could be heard.
A coal-grey earth pony with violet eyes and black mane and a Treble clef cutie mark looked around in alarm in hope nopony heard her cellphone sound. Upon relaxing and convinced that no prying eyes would look she pulled out her cellphone and read the message: Exie: What is the answer to ? #2?
She rolled her eyes and replied to the text message.
Bing!
Exie took out her phone and read the reply: Octavia: Really? -.- The answer is 42. And if I get caught, you’re going down with me ;)
Exie rolled her eyes at the empty threat. Octavia was one of her closest friends a mare can have. And she often helped her get out of situations like this one. With a victorious grin Exie breezed through the rest of the test and minutes after she handed in her test the bell rang.
“Ok students! Tomorrow brings your textbooks and calculators. And remember about the Unit 13 Quiz we have next week!” called out Dr. Jupiter as the students filed out the class.
“I can’t believe that he would give us a pop quiz” complained Exie.
“Hey, it wasn’t that bad” replied Octavia.
“Well I’m hungry right now, lets skip our next class a go to the last lunch block” offered Exie
“Well... I am feeling a bit peckish”
“Let’s go then!” As they trotted towards the cafeteria everypony turned to look at Exie and started taunting her.
“Hey Exie! When’s your cute-ceañera? I had mine when I was 10”
“Eww! A blank flank!”
A hoof fell on her shoulder, “Hey Exie” She was about to punch the pony who would touch her, but in turning around she discovered the owner of the voice and hoof: Thunderwing.
“Oh, hey Sparky”
He grunted in annoyance at him nickname given to him by his brother and Exie, “Why do you and Oddy insist on calling me that?”
“Hey Thunderwing” giggled Octavia.
“Sup’ Octi. So where you guys headed?”
“Lunch” replied Exie.
“Lunch? Aren't you suppose to be in Art? And Octavia, aren’t you suppose to be in Gym?”
“We’re skipping” said Exie with glee.
“And nothing I can do to stop you?”
“Nope!”
“I figured as much, well anyways can I join you fillies to lunch?”
“You’re always welcome Sparky” said Exie.
“I don’t mind more company” agreed Octavia
“Why don’t anypony shut the hell up about my blank flank!?” complained Exie.
“Beats me, but don’t let it get to you” said Odysseus.
“Yeah, for all they know your special talent is so epic it cannot be pictured!” offered Thunderwing.
“Really? So epic that it cannot be pictured? That is the most stupidest thing I’ve ever heard”
“Well I don’t know, but what we do know is to be patient. All good things come to those who wait”
“Shut up Thunderwing”
“Sorry Exie, its just that the teasing doesn’t usually bother you. Why is it bothering you all of a sudden?”
Exie sighed in defeat, “Well, junior prom is coming up in two weeks, no one has asked me to be their date, and I doubt anyone will vote for me as prom queen”
“Don’t worry about that, besides senior prom will be better anyways”
“But what if I don’t win senior prom queen? I’d rather win this one and not win next year’s”
“Well still dont worry Im 100 percent sure that you will win. Now let’s head over to the Wubs Club. Vinyl, Spitfire and Octavia are waiting for us.”
“Finally we’re leaving!” cheered Odysseus, who was quiet thought the whole conversation.
When the trio entered the club, three others were waiting for them around a table in the corner of the room.
“What took you bronies so long?” said a white unicorn with a crazy cobalt blue and light blue highlighted hair. She also had a pair of purple shades that hid her red eyes and a bridged eighth note as her cutie mark.
“They were discussing some things, it was not my fault Vinyl” replied Odysseus.
“What kind of stuff?” asked a light golden pegasus mare with orange with an amber highlight mane pulled back in a ponytail and orange eyes. Her cutie mark was three licks of fire that resembled a phoenix.
“Nothing important Spitfire” said Thunderwing as he gave a glare at his brother.
“Well, now that we are all here, let’s start getting ready to get this club running!” exclaimed Vinyl.
“Wait... What now?” asked Odysseus.
“Boss told me that he’s giving us a chance to run the place by ourselves tonight” said Vinyl as she giddily hopped up and down in excitement.
“What!?” exclaimed Exie, “Then what are we waiting for!? Let’s get this party started!”
“Woah! Woah! Woah! Woah!... Woah! We need to get the club ready first! Now who is going to do what?” asked Spitfire.
“Well it’s obvious that I’ll be the DJ” stated Vinyl while everyone else mumbled in agreement.
“I’ll act as the manager” offered Exie.
“Wait,” said Odysseus as he held a hoof up to get their attention, “What about the bar, it’s not like we can bartend it, can we?”
“Stop being a filly Oddy” groaned Exie, “Neon showed us how to bartend it so it’s no problem.”
“Well one can’t be too careful” said Spitfire
“Will some of the other employes be here to help?” asked Thunderwing.
“Yea, well some of them, like the bouncers and security, for obvious reasons.” replied Vinyl.
“Well then, we still have about two hours ‘till we open so lets get ready!” encouraged Odysseus.
