Chapters One Night In Canterlot- Rarity/Rainbow Dash
Rainbow Dash spread her wings and caught the wind, gliding along for a bit before resting on the spire of a rooftop contently. It was past midnight and the night sky sparkled with stars and a cool breeze ruffled Rainbow Dash's mane, which was unusually flat compared to what it usually looked like after she'd flown. She'd been taking it slow tonight, just taking in the night sky. She didn't want to injure her wings.
Initially she'd come to Canterlot to visit Twilight Sparkle, only to find she was in the Crystal Empire with Celestia. Now she had no place to stay and a two weeks’ vacation that she was regretting now. She should have thought ahead, checked with Twilight whether she'd be in Canterlot- but then again, she wasn't well-known for her thinking. That was Twilight's job.
Now she was bored.
Applejack and Pinkie Pie were in Appleloosa, Fluttershy in Cloudsdale, and Rarity had rented a house in Canterlot due to her business calling her to the capitol more often than not nowadays. Their friendship had drifted apart recently, ever since Twilight had been crowned a princess. It wasn't the lavender unicorn's fault, obviously, but they'd all began different lives, started new arcs, and pursuing dreams.
A voice- a strangely familiar voice- startled her out of her train of thought.
"Rainbow Dash, what on earth are you doing on my roof?"
Only her wings kept her in the air as she slipped off the thin surface of the spire, and began to hover. She turned around to come face to face with a very sleep-deprived Rarity standing on the balcony below her.
"Oh, hey Rarity! Uh ... You know, just flying." Rainbow Dash said.
"Flying? You looked awfully still to be flying- one might have thought you were thinking, if one didn't already know you didn't have the capacity to think." Rarity smirked, walking closer to underneath where Rainbow Dash was flying.
Rainbow Dash grinned back and glided down to rest on the balcony railing next to where Rarity was standin g. "Well, I'm glad to say that I exceed your expectations."
"Ponies don't tend to do that often." Rarity sighed, her mood drastically changing from teasing to troubled.
"Hey, what's up with you?"
Rarity sniffed. "I don't want to talk about it."
Rainbow Dash nudged her gently with her wing, surprised at her own tenderness. She wasn't known to be soft, but on the rare occasion she was, it was always with Fluttershy, or maybe Pinkie Pie- rarely with Rarity. In fact, never with Rarity. She'd always assumed the unicorn was strong enough to handle her own problems.
"I got stood up." confessed Rarity.
Rainbow Dash's brow furrowed. Standing someone up was a case of disloyalty. And she hated disloyalty.
"Who was he? I'll kick his lily flank." Dash growled.
"Actually ..." Rarity sighed again. "It was the most wonderful mare. A pegasus, an awful lot like you dear. She modelled one of my outfits at a show last night."
Rainbow Dash blinked. "I, uh, I didn't know you were into mares." she stated awkwardly.
"Do you have a problem with it?" the designer asked casually, but there was a hint of venom in her tone.
"No! No, no, it's cool. How many people know?"
"Just you, Twilight Sparkle and Fluttershy. I haven't really had a chance to tell Applejack yet, and I'm not sure I want to. She's the whole reason I discovered my sexuality after all." Rarity said, staring up into the night sky.
"You were into Applejack?" Rainbow questioned. The night was full of revelations for her.
"Was. Past tense. Aside from that, who isn't smitten with Applejack?" Rarity said. Rainbow Dash blushed then stretched out her wings.
"I just wish I could be more open with my sexuality, but I never, ever, want to hear anyone calling me 'Rainbow Dyke' again. And I'm afraid people will." she confessed.
"Dear, everyone already knows. You make it quite obvious for someone who's afraid of people knowing. And just so you know, I've never heard anyone call you Rainbow D-d-y ... And if they did, I'd smother them in fabric and choke them in ribbons." Rarity said seriously.
"Thanks, Rare ... Wait everyone knows? How?" Rainbow Dash asked. The night was full of revelations.
"You act like a lesbian. You check out mares when they walk by. And, you're obviously into Applejack."
"Um, actua-" Rainbow tried to interrupt, but Rarity carried on, her voice rising.
"And that's okay. That you're into Applejack, I mean. And not just because I liked her, but because you two make a great couple." Rarity finished her mini rant finally, leaving a silence big enough for Dash to say what she wanted.
"Actually, I'm uh, not into Applejack like that."
"Then who do you like?" Rarity asked curiously.
Rainbow Dash flew closer to Rarity.
"I actually like somepony else. Somepony I'm close to. They're smart, kind, beautiful ..." Rainbow Dash smiled bashfully.
"Go on." Rarity blinked, staring into Rainbow Dash's mauve eyes.
"And above all, they're generous." Rainbow Dash whispered the last word practically on Rarity's mouth, then captured it in a sweet kiss.
The embrace could have gone on forever, but a small blunt object hit Rainbow Dash in the flank, causing her to tear away from Rarity. They both stared down onto the street, where a young-ish unicorn colt was standing.
"Get a room!" he yelled at them angrily. "Dykes!"
"Come up here and say that to my face!" Rainbow Dash yelled at him. He threw another rock, and Rainbow Dash kicked it out the sky. He stormed off and Rainbow Dash turned around to find Rarity smiling back at her.
"We just can't seem to catch a break, can we?" the unicorn murmured. "Maybe we should go inside? Where are you staying in Canterlot?"
"I'm not staying anywhere. I planned to stay at the castle with Twilight, but ... That didn't really go to plan." Rainbow Dash said, flying down to the balcony to stand next to Rarity.
"Well, if you want, you can stay here?" she offered nervously.
Rainbow Dash grinned back at her and pecked her on the lips.
"I suppose I can. Yeah. That'd be nice"

The Burden of the Paparazzi- Rainbow Dash/...
Ponyville had become a riot town.
The paparazzi surrounded the cloud house at every angle, pegasi from the sky and earth ponies and unicorns standing below, just waiting for a sign of the rainbow-haired Wonderbolt, even though many of them should know her schedule, and that she never goes out on Tuesdays.
A lone figure, separate from the crowd surrounding Rainbow Dash's house, drew their cloak further over their head and flew quickly to the back entrance of the house, guarded by a burly light green pegasus. They lifted their hood slightly revealing a portion of her face that only he can see. He nodded and let them in, a smile crossing his face for a brief second. His boss needed something to cheer her up; the paparazzi had been particularly awful today.
The pegasus kept their hood up as they entered the house, glancing around at the expensive architecture. It never failed to impress them, even though they saw it so many times. The tall ceiling, the smooth pillars ... It was art, really, not a home.
They travelled through corridors they'd learnt by heart and arrived at what appeared to be a bedroom. It was dark for a supposedly light home.
Their eyes rested on the bed, where a cyan pegasus lay sleeping, their chest rising and falling with each breath.
They stepped closer, examining the body of the mare while she slept.
Then, her cyan eyes flew open and she grinned. "So you came."
"I always come," they replied, revealing a feminine voice. "It’s a Tuesday after all."
"Indeed," chuckled Rainbow Dash, and she stretched before flying out of her cloud bed to nuzzle against the other mare, who still managed to keep her face hidden.
"Have the paparazzi asked you about your current relationship status yet?"
Rainbow Dash groaned. "Only about nine times. And that's just this morning."
"Why don't you just tell them you aren't interested in Rarity anymore?" the mare suggested.
"I try, but they just don't listen to me! They're about as stupid as Diamond Dogs." she grumbled.
The other one smirked. "I don't mind telling people about us, Dash." she insisted. The conversation had been had so many times they'd memorized their lines.
"I just want to have a bit of time for us. To do what we want, when we want, and not have every single move photographed."
"We've had us time- six months of it. I'm sure six months is a reasonable time between a break-up and a new relationship."
Rainbow Dash's eyes grew dark with mischief, and she pushed the other mare onto the bed, pinning her down and pulling back the dark hood of the cloak, revealing an amber mane and light opal body. She kissed the mare with passion, but once the mare had pushed her tongue in Rainbow Dash's mouth Dash pulled back, leaving a small moan dying on her lips.
She smirked. "We couldn't do that in public, now, could we Dusty?"
Lightning Dust smiled sheepishly. "I guess not. Alright, fine, you win. But I'll beat you next time!"
Rainbow grinned. "You wish," she said, leaning down to kiss her lover again.

Springtime in Paris, Prance- Rarity/Twilight Sparkle
They always knew, if they were going to go anywhere together, it would be Prance. Paris, to be exact.
Rarity loved it for the fashion scene- the lights and glamour of Paris nightlife combined with the high street shops in daytime- it was heaven for the designer.
Twilight Sparkle, however, was more interested in the architecture. Neightre Dame, the Hoofel Tower ... It would be a dream to study the city of light ... But it was also the city of love, and it would live up to its name.
They never got around to actually going though. Sure, they talked about going, over glasses of champagne in posh restaurants, and less-fancy glasses of wine in the library or boutique, but they never bought plane tickets or booked a hotel.
They'd always been too busy, with Twilight's duties as a princess, and Rarity's ever-growing success as a fashion designer.
But, ten years later from when they first got together, they would still sigh blissfully about Prance and its wonders.
"Rarity? Can you come down here for a moment?" Twilight called from her study, smiling in excitement, waiting for the familiar sound of Rarity's hoofsteps making their way downstairs.
Rarity had officially moved in to Twilight's quarters in the castle a few years ago, since she practically lived there anyway. It gave her easy access to her main boutique in Canterlot- though Ponyville would always hold a special place in her heart.
"What is it, darling?" asked Rarity, first poking her head round the door but then entering the room properly.
"I've got something for you. Close your eyes." Twilight instructed playfully, and Rarity followed. The purple unicorn lifted something with her magic off her desk and placed them in front of Rarity's eyes.
"Open."
Rarity's eyes grew wide immediately and she snatched the tickets gently with her own magic. She looked at Twilight lovingly.
"Paris, Prance. Two weeks, commencing in three weeks’ time. We're finally going to Prance!" Twilight's excitement seeped out of her clam exterior.
"Oh, Twilight Sparkle, this is simply marvellous!" Rarity gushed.
"The hotel's booked to. L'Hôtel Rouge Amant- it's supposed to be very luxurious, so I'm sure you'll love it.," Twilight said, taking a deep breath before continuing. "Now Rarity, this isn't just an out-of-the-blue trip. In a month it's our ten year anniversary. Ten years is a long time, and I've known you for more than that
"I've shared so many memories with you, good and bad. The time we defeated Nightmare Moon. The Gala. Discord. Countless others. Every moment with you is precious, and I love them all. I love you. I'm not very good at saying it, because I don't say it often, but I really do love you with all my heart. If I didn't, I'd be pretty stupid to do what I'm about to do. And I'm anything if stupid." Twilight chuckled, and Rarity giggled, but the laughter was caught in her throat as a field of Twilight's magic encased a small black jewellery box lying on the desk. Twilight let it hover in front of her, then took another deep breath and opened it.
The three blue diamond-shaped jewels were just like Rarity's Cutie Mark, surrounding a soft pink star-shaped jewel in the middle, all on a silver ring.
"We're connected in a way deeper than friendship. I felt it then and I felt it now. So, Rarity ... Will you marry me?"
"Yes!" Rarity said eagerly, a small tear running down her face. She captured Twilight in a fierce hug, who gently placed the ring on Rarity's horn.
"I love you. And you don't say it often, true. But it just makes it even more special when you do." Rarity smiled down at the tickets, feeling a warm glow spreading across her body as she thought of everything they were going to do in Paris, and the royal wedding that would follow.

Operator, Please Put Me Back on the Line- Time Turner/Colgate
Colgate walked to the phone box and inserted a few bits. With a shaking hoof she dialled the number and waited while the dial tone played in her ear, hoping he'd pick up.
"Hello?" a masculine, English voice said, and Colgate sighed silently.
"Time Turner, its me." she said, trying to keep her voice steady.
"Colgate! This is brilliant! You didn't call me in ages; I was beginning to get worried." Time Turner exclaimed. She could hear the sounds of music in the background, and knew he was at an event somewhere.
Actually, you didn't call me. I waited for ages, and you said you'd call, but you didn't.
Instead of speaking her thoughts, she took a deep breath in to calm herself. "I'm fine. I just got a bit caught up in my work. You know how busy the shop can get."
Lies. Her little clock shop never got more than ten customers a day. But he didn't need to know that.
"Of course, of course. How are you doing? it's been a while since I've seen you."
"I'm fine, thanks. How's the movie going?" she asked in a flat tone. She could practically hear his eyes widen in excitement at the mention of his new movie.
"Oh, it's great, Colleen, great. Everyone here is awesome. We're shooting the stunt scenes tomorrow, and I'm even doing some of them on my own."
How exciting. I really care so much about what you're doing without me.
No. That wasn't fair. His acting career meant a lot to him, and his stuff really was good. She just wished he'd stop taking up new roles every time he finished one, so he could spend more time with her.
Selfish as it was, she needed him.
"Col? Colgate, are you still there?" Time Turner asked
She snapped back to attention. Time was ticking, and she only had a few minutes left.
"Yes, I'm here." she said, sniffing.
There was silence for a bit.
"I miss you," he finally said. "A lot."
"Then come home!" she blurted out, finally voicing her thoughts. "Come back to me after this last movie. I haven't seen you in, what, a year? More. It's ridiculous."
"Colgate, hon, it's more complicated-"
"To hell with complicated! I'm your wife, not something you can drag out of storage whenever you want it!" she cried out. "if you really want me to stay your wife, start acting like it."
There was a pause. "Colgate-"
Beep!
"I'm sorry, your call has been disconnected. To get more time, insert three bits into the slot and-" a robotic voice said, interrupted by Colgate slamming the phone back into the wall with her magic.
She wished she'd never called.
