Chapter 1
The *Great** and Powerful will fall...*
It had been the second time...The second time that Trixie had been out-powered by Celestia's ever so faithful student, Twilight Sparkle. The poor mage wasn't taking the defeat to well and, well really, who could blame her? She had tried, oh how she had tried. Suffering the bitter found hate that came pouring in from every show she put on after Ponyville, working on that insufferable rock farm just to make ends meet, and to top it off were all the insults and glares she got from simply walking about the streets of Manehatten.
The negativity was rubbing off on her and eventually, she couldn't control herself. It started out in little bits. The occasional pony would say something and she would quickly come back with a smart insult which would leave him/her with an open mouth and a rather confused expression. But, over time...it got worse. So worse in fact, that earlier today when Trixie was simply sitting alone at a local restaurant and a waiter approached her just to greet her and ask her for her order, Trixie lashed out on the poor waiter, calling him everything she knew (or at least could spit out) her words hit him like venom and even resulted in him crying all the way back to the kitchen.
Trixie now sat in the little cardboard house that she fixed up pretty well to be honest, it had three rooms and I guess calling it "little" was more of an understatement. The damned thing was nearly twice an average pony's size and took up about half the alley. Now you may be wondering just what the hell was in this box? Well...I don't know? Anyway, back to Trixie.
The third annoyed sigh came from the blue unicorn as she tried her hardest to hold her roof up from the pouring rain that was threating to break through at any moment and ruin everything. "Blasted rain! Can't you withhold yourself until Trixie can at least reinforce this place?" She was shouting at the rain as if it could hear her and was going to obey her wishes just out of sympathy. Of course, that wasn't going to happen. Instead, a loud crack could be heard that could shake the legs of chickens and without a moments notice, it began to rain harder.
A couple minutes and the roof came caving in, along with the rain and the cold. Our now drenched Trixie decided to go for a stroll to calm herself down. It was night so she knew nopony would be out to insult her plus it was raining. After a couple of blocks, she had found herself back at ye olde restaurant she attendant earlier today. Naturally, there was no one around but, there were umbrella's over every table...would they really miss one? No, she thought.
She strolled back to her home, now happy to be shielded by the rain, thanks to her new umbrella. Upon arriving at her soaked and barely standing hovel, she decided to stay in the far corner, propping the umbrella up against the wall and laying under it for maximum protection.
The next day she was rudely awoken with the sudden cold hoof prodding her side. The blurry-eyed and still somewhat damp unicorn looked groggily towards her intruder, "Can Trixie help you?" She barely managed to get out.
"Yes, in fact you can," A stern and strong voice jolted her awake as she noticed the shine from the Royal guards helmet, "Miss. Trixie, you are to see Princess Celestia immediately." She looked up at him with endless wonder as a million thoughts flooded her mind in just why the mare of the sun would wish to speak to her? Was this about the waiter? Before she could even ask why, she was ushered into a carriage that was heading straight for the Royal Castle in Canterlot.
~Meanwhile! In The Golden Oaks library~
"Twilight! Twilight!" A very small and very enthusiastic little dragon ran through the library, a letter from none other than Princess Celestia was grasped in his claws.
"Yes?" The purple unicorns head poked out of her study as she saw her little assistant coming closer, "Oh? Is that a letter?" Her head cocked a bit in question and Spike nodded while trying to catch his breath.
"I-It's...from...Ce-Cele..."
"Celestia! Let me see!" Twilight quickly snatched up the note and began to read it.
My Faithful Student: Twilight Sparkle,
I am sending you a new housemate. I know you will treat her well and that you two will of course get along nicely. After all, you both seek out pure magic. She shall be arriving by tomorrow, I know you will take the utmost care of her and I do wish for you not to mention anything on her past...she has been through some hardships. Maybe you could even show her the ways of friendship? Think of that as extra credit~

Twilight looked the letter over countless times, hoping she would at least find a name or some indication on who this new housemate would be? Will she be friendly? Can she speak? Is she blind? Is she even a unicorn?! Twilight was going insane with the constant wonder and this in turn was making her mane twinge out of place. Spike noticed the sudden insanity brewing and decided it was time to go see how Rarity was doing.
Spike had just reached the door when he heard that familiar pop and fizzle noise. A sigh escaped him, luckily Twilight hadn't heard. "Where are you going?" She asked curiously as she leaned over him and locked eyes.
"I-I was just going to check up on Rarity." Twilight looked like she had just been slapped,
"Rarity! There's no time!" She shouted and poofed into the main library, "We have work to do!" Her nervous voice called out and to the poor dragons ears it sounded like glass on a chalkboard...That's not right? Like nails on a chalkboard, or claws in his manor.
"But Twilight..." He groaned, "Today's our day off!" He put on his best puppy face and it was just shot down.
"I don't care. We have to make preparations for our new housemate, that means there will be nothing but cleaning and cooking for the next twenty-four hours." She made a sharp nod as if to instruct this as her final sayings. Poor little Spike looked up at her, trying to find a loophole.
"What about when we need to sleep?" He raised an eyebrow, knowing that this would stump her,
"Sleep? We don't need sleep, Spike. I know a spell that will keep us awake!" She hoped a bit in joy and Spike felt a part of him dying.

Chapter 2
Curiosity
Trixie sat in the carriage as it soared over Canterlot. She had quite the view of the popular city and with it being so early, there was nearly a soul trotting about the usual bustling roads. It made Trixie feel uneasy, like she was on her way to deathrow in this quiet ghost town. She sighed and the drivers ears perked up, "Everything okay back there?" He asked but Trixie didn't respond.
After a couple minutes the carriage lighted down on the gravel road of the Castle grounds. The door of the carriage opened and Trixie stepped out, her mane and cape blowing in the early wind which sent chills throughout her body. Immediately her eyes took to the massive Castle that stood before her. It was unlike any she had ever imagined in her heroic tales and it looked so much different up close than far in town where anypony would usually see it.
Before Trixie knew it, she found herself roaming the granite hallways that were filled with guards, maids, and plenty of Celestia and Luna propaganda. "Miss. Trixie, if you would please follow me." One butler stepped out from a room, he had the usual good-boy smile and extended a hoof as he spoke. Trixie ignored his hoof, "Very well, lead the way." And with those words said, he began to lead her down another hallway which eventually broke off into the throne room.
Celestia sat at her throne and smiled a friendly smile at her guest. She motioned for Trixie to come over and Trixie obeyed. "Trixie! It's such a pleasure to meet you," The princess began, "I know you must be very confused on why I've brought you here," Trixie nodded a little slow and this elicited a giggle from the princess, "Calm down, you're in no trouble." Trixie realized she was acting a little tense but, it was very hard for her to ease her nerves, especially in front of none other than the princess.
"Just what is the reason that you brought me here?" Trixie asked and the Princess's smile never changed."Well, my sister spotted you a little while back and she told me about how you were. Staying in an alley cannot be comfortable, I imagine," Trixie nodded and shuddered about going back to it, "So after a bit of thought, I have decided to move you off the cold and lonely street and into a new home! After all, I cannot let my fine Equestrians be homeless, it would look poor on our land." Trixie understood this, and how Equestria was rated best land in all the world. Plus, she was getting a place to stay, so she was in no way about to argue.
"Are you happy to be moving off the street?" The princess asked,
"Yes! I am most pleased princess!" Trixie decided to drop the third-person act so she wouldn't look like a fool, "Where will I be staying?" The princess was waiting for this question,
"You'll be residing in the pleasant town of Ponyville...is that a problem?" The princess noticed the sudden change when she mentioned Ponyville.
"Well, no," Trixie hesitated, "It's just..." She thought about living in the same town as the damned mare who she hated with her very soul...but who knows? Maybe the princess has chosen a house for her on the opposite side of town, a house is a house after all, "It's nothing princess. When will I be leaving?" Trixie was beginning to grow eager to see her new home,
"Very soon, now please, make yourself at home." The princess stood, bowed, and left. Leaving Trixie to decide what to do to kill time.
~Meanwhile! In The Golden Oaks library~
"Pinkie Pie, I think that's enough balloons?" Twilight stared at the rainbow colored ceiling that seemed to bob around,"What! Are you crazy, Twilight? You can never have enough balloons!" After the quick protest from the walking sugar rush, she began blowing more balloons that would float up and get lost in the crowd.
Twilights welcoming party was coming along nicely. She had cleaned the entire library spotless and polished it four times, shelved then re-shelved then re-shelved again just to be sure. After Spike had grown tired of cooking, Twilight had to ask Pinkie for help and of course she helped. Pinkie brought over party supplies, enough cupcakes to feed twenty, and even a clown! But, the clown had to go because he was eating all the cupcakes and terrifying Spike.
Pinkie looked up at her army of balloons and saluted them, giggling softly as she did so. "So, Twilight! Who's the new guest? Huh?! Is she a unicorn like you? Or, a pegasus like Fluttershy? Oh! Wait, she's an Earthy like me, isn't she!" Pinkie bounced in circles as she guessed.
"Well, I really don't know, Pinkie? The letter didn't say. For all I know she could be a dragon-"
"Like spike!" Pinkie cut in, "Oh! I wonder if her name would be Ember...or maybe Cynder!" Twilight rolled her eyes and peeked out the window, hoping to see one of the Royal carriages.
A bit of scanning and she saw nothing. I wonder what's taking so long? She thought to herself, The princess said she would be here by tomorrow? A quick look at the clock and she could see that it was already well past three in the afternoon. Just where was this mare and who was she? Shaking her head in confusion and impatience, Twilight decided to relax and have a cupcake. It was kind of hard to do though, considering how Pinkie was balancing them all on her assistants sleeping figure. Typical Pinkie Pie.
