A couple of weeks have passed since Twilight went to visit Fluttershy. In this time Twilight had made some preparations and did some more research, since the concert would be in two days.

“Spike!?.... Spike!? Spike where are you. I need you to send a letter to princess Celestia for me!” Twilight jelled.

“I’m upstairs Twilight!” he jelled back “But can’t it wait until later?” he asked.

“No it can’t I’ll be gone from tomorrow morning until Sunday evening remember?” Twilight said while climbing the stairs.

“Oh… right, I forgot. But did you remember me going away for a couple of days?” spike asked in return.

“Wait what? When did you tell me that?” Twilight asked.

“Remember last Monday? I told you during dinner.” Spike told her.

“If you told me last Monday then why can’t I remember it?” Twilight asked.

“Maybe because you were reading that book on Starswirl again?” Spike asked.

“Oh right I was reading his autobiography, that I can remember. Well maybe I just didn’t listen when you told me” Twilight said.

“Wouldn’t be the first time you didn’t notice something I said” Spike added.

“Well sorry then but you know I’m busy most of the time.” Twilight said.

“Yeah yeah yeah. I know, I know” spike said “It’s just annoying not being able to talk to you okay?”

“I guess I could listen a little more to what you say.” Twilight spoke in her apologetic voice.

After that the both of them went downstairs and had dinner, after that Spike finished packing his bag and said goodbye to Twilight.
That night Twilight couldn’t get to sleep as she kept thinking about everything that could go wrong tomorrow, but after about an hour or two she finally fell asleep.

That morning Twilight woke up early, she decided that she would get out before she fell asleep again, something she didn’t like but she knew would happen. So she got up and went downstairs, straight into the kitchen to make breakfast and coffee, something that Twilight couldn’t live without.

After her breakfast she went outside and took a little walk before heading over to the train station, where she had to wait on her train due to delay.

After the train had finally arrived Twilight got on and found herself a seat. She felt nervous , this was her first time going to Canterlot without Celestia ,or anypony else for that matter, knowing. Well except maybe Fluttershy, but it still felt kind of wrong.

After the train ride Twilight got out and went straight to her hotel, it would be the first time she wouldn’t be in the castle while visiting the city. So after she had checked in she decided to take a walk through this part of the city. although she had lived in Canterlot, she didn’t know any of these places due to never really going out. But she was happy to be there now, she didn’t know why but she was excited.

After her little trip she decided that she would try and find Fluttershy to discuss the last parts before the concert tomorrow evening. Twilight knew in which hotel Fluttershy was staying, but when she arrived at the hotel Fluttershy wasn’t there. Twilight was surprised when the pony at the desk told her she had left a couple of hours ago. Twilight didn’t know what to do since she didn’t expect Fluttershy to be out in the city.

So now having nothing to go to, and nothing to do, she decided to go to her hotel and read some books she had brought with her. But when she got to the hotel she stayed at, she thought to herself that maybe reading wasn’t the only thing she could do. She thought about it and came to the conclusion that she had to go out and hit the town as well.

Whilst on her way outside the pony at the front desk waved her over.

“Miss Twilight?” he asked “This was given to me for when you returned” he spoke while handing over a letter to Twilight.

“For me?” she asked as she took the letter. “Do you know who gave this to you?”

“Sorry miss Sparkle but I couldn’t see the ponies face” he apologized.

Twilight went to sit in the lobby as she opened the letter.

“Dear Twilight Sparkle

It has become clear to me that we both are in this fine city without you knowing about my info on that. For this reason and some other minor details I would like to meet you in The Beer Barrel, a bar not that far from your hotel
Kind regard’s.

A friend”

Twilight read the letter a couple of times before deciding she would go there. But due to her not knowing this district very well, she decided to ask the pony at the front desk.

After walking for about twenty minutes she arrived at the small bar, which looked kind of neglected. Once inside however it didn’t look that bad, your classic old bar for what Twilight could tell. A big bar and some small tables and a couple of couches along the wall.

At the bar Twilight spotted only one figure, hooded just like the pony at the hotel had said. Twilight decided to walk up to him but stopped dead in her tracks as she saw who it was

“Uhm….hello? Wait is that really you or am I imagining this?” Twilight asked suddenly shocked.

“No it is me, are you surprised or just freaked out?” The cloaked pony asked in return.

“Well I certainly wasn’t expecting to see you so I’m kind of going to freak out but probably later and when I’m alone.” Twilight answered dry

“well in that case I will keep things short. I know why you’re here and I just want to tell you to have fun, don’t think too much it will drive you crazy, okay?” the hooded mare spoke.

“I’ll try and remember that, and by the way since when did you pick up smoking? You of all ponies should know the danger of it, and set the good example.” Twilight spoke confused as some smoke came from under the hood

“Twilight dear, don’t get me wrong but it’s sometimes a little stressful to rule an entire country with only two of us, so don’t get to worked up about it. Plus I am not that addicted to it.” came the answer

“well ok than. But still I’m kind of shocked to see my mentor, who shouldn’t even know I’m here, is smoking.” Twilight spoke

“Twilight as your mentor it’s my task to know where you are, plus you could have just asked to stay at our place. You know we own several houses in the city.” The mare spoke

“yeah but I didn’t want to bother you with it okay? I wanted some time away from that always being watched. You of all should understand that.” Twilight told her mentor

“Alright, Alright don’t make such a big deal out of it, if you want it I’ll leave you alone for now. But you’re welcome to join me in some drinking here, just as friends.” Her mentor spoke.

“Well it would be a shame to go out and return so early” Twilight admitted “sure I’ll share a few drinks with you” Twilight finally answered.

And so Twilight ended up doing something she would have never thought she would do. Going out and drinking, and for that matter she would have never ever thought Celestia would have joined her. But in the end she had a fun night, although she didn’t remember much the next day. Except that she felt terrible.
