CHAPTER FOUR

The night fell with little fanfare, and Twilight still remained very much concerned about the state of her body.

“Ugh,” she groaned as she ate a sandwich. “This is stupid.”

Spike had gone out to get some things, so Twilight was alone, staring at the ceiling with tired eyes. There was no sound but the faint murmur of her eating. She shivered and the wires moved beneath her skin.

A tear hung in her eye; she noted that the zooming eye remained crystal clear.

“What is going on?” she muttered, unable to think of even a half-baked answer to her problems. “There’s no villain who’s ever done something like this: play the long game.”

Twilight decided to go to bed. There was no point in continuing to think about something she had no facts for. She laid her head down and sighed. Her head was aching. She cried, worried about her future. The mechanical eye stayed dry.

When Twilight woke up, Spike was asleep on his bed, mumbling under his breath. Stretching, Twilight moved herself out of bed, but fell, finding extra weight on her back. The thud caused Spike to jump up from his sleep, shaking his head wildly, trying to process what was happening.
