I trotted through the trees, emerging at a beautiful lakeside. Luna's stars flickered in the water, and I let my wings out with a sigh. I pushed off my hind legs, and glided over the water with ease, feeling the spray against my stripped tail. I turned around sharply, and flew back to the shore. Landing, I walked over to an old fire pit, and took a seat nearby, taking in the scenery. The lake was medium sized, meaning I could easily fly straight across to the other shoreline in a matter of minutes. The treeline encircled the small clearing the lake was held in, and the clearing offered a brilliant view of the starry sky above. I looked up, and quickly picked out a few constellations by memory; Orion, Leo, Cancer, and the Big Dipper.

"Hey." a soft voice said, interrupting my fantasy. I turned to see Pyrus walking towards me, his horn emanating a soft orange glow as he levitated some firewood behind him. I smiled dorkishly.

"Hi." I replied, and he set the wood into the fire pit. I could tell it took  a bit of focusing, but the unicorn managed to start a small fire. Pyrus sat next to me as I tucked my hooves under my chest. He looked up, and smiled.

"It seems your old mentor has done well tonight." he said, and I cringed a little. Not even a year ago, I had been Luna's apprentice, but due to some royal...complications, my studies with her were revoked, and my magic taken away. She still let me have my feather though. The shimmering magpie's feather hung in my mane hung limply now, no life behind it.

Pyrus noted me reaction and laid his tail across my flank.

"Sorry...I didn't mean to bring that up...." he said, and I sighed, stretching my hooves out in front of me into a more comfortable position.

"It's ok just...please don't mention that again alright?" I said, holding back my tears. He nodded silently, and laid next to me, front hooves in front of him. Without hesitation, I nuzzled his neck.

"It's good to have you back from Canterlot....I missed you..." I whispered. He nuzzled my mane weakly.

"I missed you too..." he murmured, and I snuggled into him, closing my eyes.

We sat there snuggling for a good minute or two, just enjoying each others company by the fire, until I felt Pyrus stir next to me. Quickly I sat up, opening my eyes. He chuckled.

"I was just adding more wood to the fire. Calm down." he soothed. I shifted my front hooves, and laid back next to him.

"Sorry..." I apologized, and he kissed me briefly before I snuggled into his side once more.

We laid there for a good while, until I opened my eyes to see the fire dimming. Looking at Pyrus, I saw he was drifting off to sleep. Smiling, I nudged him playfully. His eyes flickered open, and I stood. He groggily levitated a small bucket we always kept nearby, filled it with lake water, and dumped it onto the fire, making it sizzle out. He stood, and almost fell into me, only barely catching himself before he did. I watched him carefully.

"We need to head back to town..." I said, and he nodded. I noticed he was clearly in no shape to walk, so I was about to offer to fly us home when he pulled me into a hug and charged his horn with energy. I closed my eyes, and felt a wind whip at my mane. When I opened them, we were standing in our bedroom in Ponyville. I smiled, and trotted over to my side of the bed, pulling the navy-blue covers aside to get in. Pyrus was mirroring me on his side, and we climbed in. He wrapped his hooves around me and pulled me close, pulling the blankets over us with his magic. I reached up and kissed him softly.

"Goodnight." I said.

"Goodnight." He echoed as I closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep.
