Book 1 The wolf and the magic

Chapter 6: Alone no longer

It was a rainy day, and by rainy, I mean pouring. But, I was to meet up with Twilight and the rest of the gang for just a friendly outing.  When I got there, Twilight and the others where already here, I took a seat and ate some food. As the day continued, I looked out the window to notice an orange Pegasus filly pulling her scooter through the mud.  She went into an ally and crawled into a large cardboard box.

I told the others and before anyone could say a single word, Rainbow Dash was out there and back in before even a second passed. The group was silent; the only noise was from the little filly crying. Rainbow Dash hugged her tightly. "Why did you not tell me? I would have helped you Scootaloo."

Scootaloo's response was tear filled. "Because I did not want you to see me like this, I never wanted top make anyone worry about me. My moms gone and my dad disappeared on a mission for the Royal Guard. I was here alone, no home, no parents.....No one to say 'I love you'."

This hit everyone with the force of a thousand pounds of any heavy object hitting you in the face.  "Scootaloo, you should have told me." Rainbow Dash released the hug, Scootaloo wanted to hide her self from the world. "I would have helped you, you know that. Element of loyalty or not, I know how much of a big sister I am to you. I care for you, if you got hurt or worse....I don't know what I would do." None of us expected Rainbow Dash to ever be this emotional.

I walked up and kneeled down in front of her. "Scootaloo, I am Dunmore Wolfgang. I will use the resources I have at my disposal, to find your father.  Since he was Royal Guard, Celestia probably knows his last location. If not, we find anyone else who might know.

Rainbow Dash lifted Scootaloo on her back. "You can stay with me till we find you're dad. How dose that sound?" Scootaloo became a little happier.

"Thanks, that means a lot." They separated their hug and sat down.

Applejack gave her two bits next. "Ya' could have told me and ya' could have stayed at my home. We are ya're friends Scootaloo and that's what friends do"

Well this was going on; we wrote a letter to Celestia. Spike had shown up and sent the letter off.

We continued to talk about what to do. We got a letter back for Celestia; she would arrive within the day. We all went back to Twilight's home to wait for Celestia.

About 2 hours later, she arrived. She entered the shop and we explained everything.

"Okay. I will head back to Canterlot to see what I can do my little ponies. And worry not dear Scootaloo, we will find your father, No matter what." With that, she left. I could hear a hint of fear in Celestia's voice.

I got up from my seat. "Alright! Operation 'scoots' is a go! Come on; let's do what research we can. Allons-y!" We all went back to Twilight's home to organize the search areas. Me and Twilight were set to research Royal guard archive books. Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy were set to ask around Cloudsdale. And Applejack and Rarity and Pinkie Pie asked around town.  Celestia sent us more Royal Guard archive books every now and then. But, we had yet to find anything.

---At Cloudsdale---

"Who are we supposed to ask? All of Cloudsdale? That's impossible. But, if that's what it tales to help Scoots, I'll do it!" Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy walked around Cloudsdale in search for answers.

"That's a nice thing to say Rainbow. I guess that's why you are the element of loyalty. Doing so much work to help poor Scootaloo, oh the poor dear, only if I knew. I would have helped as soon as she told me. No pony deserves to go without family."

Rainbow Dash looked at Fluttershy. "And that's why you're the element of kindness. Let's get this done and make sure she gets her dad back!" Fluttershy let out a quiet 'yay'

---Ponyville---

"Now, who shall we ask first?" Rarity looked around wondering who to ask first.

"Well, I'd say tha' Mayor. She should know something'" Applejack pointed over to town hall.

"Yeah, and then when we find Scootaloo's dad, we throw a party. Not just a small one, A BIG ONE!" The three made their way to town hall to question Mayor Mare.

---Twilight's home---

"Twilight you go anything yet? I'm looking though these deployment records and I have yet to find anything that stands out" I continued to look through the files and scrolls, but still found nothing of value.

"Nothing yet Dunmore, you?"  Twilight levitated books and scrolls around her head.

"Nothing just--wait. Look for troops who were deployed, but never came back. Check for any MIA units. We might get something if we compile a list of just that and possibly any, KIA units." I looked through more and more records and books.  We started making 2 lists of MIA and KIA; we hoped he was not KIA.

Twilight figured something else out. "Her dad must have been a Pegasus. Let's lower the list to Pegasus Guards." The list became shorter and shorter till we had a list of only 28 Royal Guards.

I told Scootaloo to help us identify her dad. She could barely remember what he looked like, but an image might hit the right memory. We found nothing on the MIA or the KIA lists. We made a list of guards who where undecided to be KIA or MIA due to still being searched for.

We found a lead on a list of retired guards. An old Pegasus by the name of Sharp wing, he lived in Canterlot. I gathered up info on his address and any medical conditions he might have. "Okay, let's tell the others that we are heading to Canterlot for a lead." I put my Claymore on my back and grabbed my M-3 pistol.

After telling the others, except for Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy, we headed on to the train to Canterlot. We got a solid lead; the guy was apparently part of a squad of Pegasus who were part of the elite solar guard. Their last known location was some where in the mountains near griffon territory, this will be difficult to figure out their last known location.

We arrived in Canterlot and made our way to the south side of the city. But not before running into our old friend BlueBlood. "There you are. The one who shoved me out of his way back at the castle."

I turned to Twilight. "I can't be held responsible for what I might do to him." I turned back to BlueBlood. "Ah, BlueBlood. Good to see you again, yeah...sorry about shoving you and all. But, something happened and you know how it is when the throne room explodes." His attitude did not change one bit, instead of leaving me alone, he got in my face.

"You dared to assault me in my own room. You are a ruffian and an absolute disgusting creature. I mean, look at what you wear. Such clashing colors, just gray and blue." He proceeded to prod me with his fore-hoof. He was pushing my last few buttons. "I have no clue how you are an element of harmony, Order was it? Well, I guess the element of chaos; fear, fits you perfectly. You would scare any small child. Such as this little orange Pegasus and it looks like she is so scared, she can't fly away." He let out an annoying laugh.

That pushed the last button. "You can insult me, but you shall not insult my friends!" My anger began to rise as he taunted me and my friends even more.

"Oh, I hit a button. Now tell me, Twilight sparkle was it, why be even known to be friends with such a disgusting creature. Your little dragon was enough, but this thing is disgusting." This time Twilight got pissed and my anger rose higher.

"You better silence your tongue before I do it for you!" I grabbed his neck with enough force to make him panic. He called for the guards next us, but they acted like nothing was going on.

"Let me go now you disgusting ruffian, or I'll have Princess Celestia throw you in a dungeon!" I laughed at this.

"You are amusing, are you sure you are not a jester?" I laughed again. He attempted to remove my hand with magic. That did not work.

"Let me go you disgusting creature! Do it now!" He attempted to hit me, yet I easily stopped.

"Not much of a fighter BlueBlood. You're a damn prince, what a fucking joke." I put up my fist into his face not knocked him to the ground. His blood was red. "Oh, his blood is not blue. What a let down." We walked off and the guards went over and picked up the now unconscious BlueBlood.

Twilight looked at me. "Did you really need to hurt him?" I gave a small chuckle.

"No, but it felt good to do so." This earned a laugh from Scootaloo. "I knew I had some funny in me." I laughed again as we continued to the south side of the city.

----South side of Canterlot---

When we got to the house, something felt wrong. "Keep your eyes open. Something doesn't feel right "I put my hand on my pistol, ready to fight." Stay casual. Don't be to on edge." We casually walked up to the door and knocked. I looked around at the area, typical residential area of Canterlot, nothing to suspicious.

The door opened to revile the owner of the house; he was a brown stallion with a short black mane. His cutie mark was of a wing that was made of iron, he had a few scars." Are you Sharp Wing?" I questioned as he looked around and signaled us in.

"Yes I am, now get in here. Quickly, come on." He rushed us in and took one last look around before closing the door. "Now who are you? And what do you want?"

I removed my cover and introduced our little group. "I am Commander Wolfgang and this is Twilight sparkle and Scootaloo. We found you on a list of ponies that lost the rest of their team. You worked with the father or Scootaloo, we where hoping you could help us locate him" He took a seat in a comfy chair and told us to take a seat on the couch.

"I don't remember much, but I do remember you little one. Scootaloo, He always talked about you after his wife....died. He became more serious with his job as an elite solar guard. He got a friend to look after Scootaloo when ever he had a mission. But, I don't remember when that stopped." He looked out his window and I took a glance out the same window. Ponies with black cloaks and hoods, something was going to happen.

"Okay, can you indicate on a map were your team was last at. We hope to find him; no one deserves to not have a family." I pulled out a map of Equestria and surrounding territories. He pointed to some mountains.

"That's the last place I remember, we were on a secret mission involving some terrorist organization called the 'Lunar Republic' you have fought them before." I took the map and marked the area he pointed to and then put it away.

"Thank you Sharp wing for all your help, we must be going. But think you have an infestation of pests." I took out my pistol and shot into the next room, killing a hidden pony.

Sharp wing got out of his chair and took out a sword form under his seat. "I may be old, but I can still fight." He held the sword in his mouth and readied for a fight.

Twilight got up and stood in front of Scootaloo. "Stay behind me Scootaloo." Scootaloo gave a quick nod and looked out the window.

Two cloaked ponies busted through the window and prepared to strike sharp wing with two daggers. But, Sharp wing parried the strike and swung his blade across the two ponies' necks, killing them.

"Twilight, get Scootaloo out of here. We have you covered, you should come with us sharp wing." We quickly left the house and ran into the street. Sharp Wing killed a pony who was about to strike me in the back.

"I owe you one, now come on! Let's get out of here!" We ran down the street and I took out a few cloaked figures with my pistol to only run out of ammo after I killed a 5th target. "Oh hell, I put in an almost empty thermal clip. This is going to become CQC real quick."

Only a few more figures had fallowed us, they pulled out daggers. But one of them, decided to blast a few bolts of magic at us. I used my sword to deflect those but one made contact with my left leg, slightly burning it.

"We got to get out of here!" I looked over to see an alleyway. "Through there! Come on!" I covered the entrance and killed one more target with my own bolt of magic.

We arrived at the other side to a populated street; ponies stared at us as I ran out of the alleyway. "Hello, what's up?" I asked nonchalantly. We quickly ran towards the castle to tell Princess Celestia what had just happened.

----Castle---

We got into the emergency throne room, that's normally used like a bunker; the other throne room is sort of a mess. We told Celestia everything of what happened.

"Very well, good job Dunmore, Twilight and Scootaloo. And it is good to see you again Sharp wing."  Sharp Wing gave a salute.

"It is good to see you again as well your majesty. I am ready to help these folk out and I'm not taking 'I can't let you do that' for an answer." Celestia let out a small laugh.

"A loyal soldier as ever Sharp Wing" She turned her attention to us. "I will send word to the others that you have gotten a good lead. Be careful though, if these terrorist were brave enough to attack you in public again. I fear much worse might happen in private attacks."

I took out the map and showed Celestia the last known area in the mountains Scootaloo's dad might be. She sent for a few squads of guards to be sent with us when we go there.

We discussed what to do and other plans of action. I asked Scootaloo to speak in private with me. I crouched down to eye level. "Okay, Scootaloo, when we get to this area and find something that is not what we hopped. I want you to know, we will help you in anyway we can. I am sure Rainbow Dash will take you in. But remember, we are here for you, and no matter what, we will always be here for you. So just be prepared to face a harsh ending to this. But always hope for this to end well." My words reassured the little filly and she had the look of determination in her eyes. We walked back into the throne room where a few squads of guards stood at attention. A total of 10 guards to go with us, the odds are in our favor.

I walked in front of the guards and decided to make our briefing into one hell of a pep-talk. "Alright, here is the plan! We will head in to this area; make sure no one decides to tries to stop us and we will find Scootaloo's dad. But, we might face some hardships on this mission and I need to know that every single one of you is as tough as I think you are! Well, are you as tough as I think you are? Or are you tougher?"

They all replied in unison. "We are tougher, Sir!"  I gave a proud smile.

"Good! We leave at 10am sharp. I expect to see every one of you ready to go and ready to prove how tough you are! Is that understood!?" I raised an eyebrow.

"Sir! Yes Sir!" They gave a salute. I returned the salute.

"Alright, you are dismissed.  Relax for today, tomorrow is going to be tough." I watched as they orderly walked out of the temporary throne room. I looked over to Celestia.

"Yeah, I know, be ready for anything and make sure every one comes back alive. You have my word Princess" I gave a quick salute and left with Sharp wing, Twilight and Scootaloo. We got some rooms in the castle; the rooms were close to the Bunker/throne room for safety reasons and had heavily armored and armed guards standing outside the doors.

We got to bed and we all thought about what might happen tomorrow. I hope that Scootaloo's father is alive. No matter what, we will succeed.
