Weighing Decisions
Previous ChapterNext ChapterWaking up my left side of my body felt cold while the other half felt warm. Scootaloo's warm body felt great against my chest her soft fur and cute snore made me chuckle I slowly removed her off my body and rose from the floor.
Grabbing my clothes I walked down from the attic and towards my room. Entering my bedroom I saw both Dawn and Amy sleeping with Fluttershy, I smiled and looked into my drawers seeing most of my clothes were dirty I grabbed the only clean clothes which was a black t-shirt with black cargo jeans, it took a few minutes for my shower and grabbed the dirty clothes hamper.
Walking downstairs the living room, it was quiet with the only light from kitchen which was lit all night.
Entering the garage I placed my dirty clothes into the washing machine making sure to separate the whites from the colors.
Looking outside the sun wasn't even up. It was a little early for my taste, but if there was any time to wash my clothes it would be now.
Once I put my clothes in the washer I looked around my home to see that everything in the house was clean, looking outside towards the backyard I looked towards my shed the very shed I found my now girlfriends all were frighten and feared what I'd do to them. Scootaloo was the first to even attack me she was determined to keep her friends safe no matter what.
I didn't really enjoy her company all that much and simply wanted to rid her from my home, but as things escalated as days went on I found myself liking her ever since she protected what I did to her friends.
I didn't want them to go they were my small family, I cared for them but eventually they'd go home. As I walked over to my couch I sat down and listen to the quiet sounds of my home the water tap dripping and the birds chirping as they had woken up. I ran my hands through my hair as I looked for a way out, a decision has to be made and I had to agree with my heart or my head.
Letting out a sigh I looked at my kitchen counter and grabbed my keys from the counter along with my wallet, but I left my phone I felt as if I didn't need it.
I exited my home and proceeded to my car, turning on the engine I back up from my driveway and just drove.
Ninety minutes later...
By the time I actually paid attention to where I was going I had entered Denver and It kinda surprised me, it was an hour drive to the city and I had nothing there I decided it was time I drove back home until I saw my gas light turn on, seeing as it needed gas I entered a gas station slash convenience store on my way back home.
Entering the gas station I saw an old man looking through his paper as he sat there just reading, some background music in air as it felt comfortable. I walked over to the front of the store to see the old man look up from his paper.
"Uh twenty bucks on 4 and a pack of smokes and a lighter." He nodded and asked for my ID, taking out my wallet I showed him my ID, never really like my ID photo I looked stupid. The kind of stupid every 16 year old looks like when they get their license and get to drive for the first time.
Once our transaction was complete I grabbed my items and walked out the store filling up my car with gas, I listen to cars as they entered streets most were disgruntled people having desk jobs others looked like happy teachers ready for a day of school. I was glad I worked from home, I never really liked going to an office and dressing myself up all fancy just to get paid the same if I would've worked home. Sure there was the social aspect but other then that it felt bland.
I let out a sigh and placed the gas pump back into its proper place and enter my car listening to classical music as I just drove. Looking at the cars time, 90 minutes was spent from home to Denver to a gas station exiting Denver all the way to stopping at a fairly quiet park.
Exiting my car I locked my door and proceeded into the park, finding a bench I sat down and just waited for nothing particular until I remembered that I had some cigarettes that I had yet to open. Opening the pack of cigarettes, I lit one on and let the nicotine enter my lungs exhaling I felt good as if my troubles were whisked away.
"Howdy." I heard someone say I looked up to see an old man, looking towards this man he looked homeless, his clothing was less then glamorous his push cart filled with things that looked important for his survival along with what looked like cans aluminum all for recycling. He also had a gray unkempt beard showing that it hadn't been trimmed or shaved in what seemed like weeks. He also didn't look dirty like most down on their luck hobos, he looked well kept aside from his beard.
"Uh hey." I replied
"Ah hate to ask but ya got any change?" He asked opening his palm.
"Sorry I don't have any." He looked slightly upset and looked towards my pack of cigarettes.
"Can I bum a smoke then?"
"Yeah here." Giving him a cigarette I lit up for him as he let the sweet release enter his lungs.
"Mah names Derek O'Brien what's yours." He asked politely.
"Michael Anderson." He nodded as I took another long drag of the cigarette.
"So what's wrong? Ya seem mighty upset."
"Why do you ask that?" I asked with curiosity.
"Eh nobody enters a park at seven in the morning and smokes without havin' some problems." He informs with a slight chuckle.
"Why do you care?"
"I've been here for almost six months now most people come through here just moping around, sometimes there's just some assholes always pick on a guy down on their luck until I show them my military training moves." I chuckled as he took what seemed like kung-fu pose.
"You were in a war?"
"Yes sir. Vietnam, was a sergeant commanded my own brigade, times have changed since I was twenty all seems like a blur to be honest." He said with a roaring laugh.
"Well if you wanna know, I'm having some girl troubles. There's these three girls who I care for with all my heart and they have to leave Colorado and I don't know if I should even try to stop them from leaving. They have to go eventually and me trying to stop them only hinders their lives." I admitted not giving any names for obvious reasons.
"Tell me about these girls."
"Well the first one is really nice, polite and just beyond beautiful everything about her is just fantastic, she sings from time to time and she clearly cares for me. Another has a bit of a country twang to her but she's beautiful too, I care for her the same way as the first one, she's also pretty handy with tools and all. The last one is loud, egotistical, but cute when she wants to be, sure she might've threatened to kill me when I first met her, but she eventually turned her tone after I spent some time with her."
"They all seem like pretty swell girls so them leavin' is the problem where to exactly?" He asked
"I'm not sure they all seem to come from across the country." I responded.
"Huh that's mighty difficult ya don't want them to just leave everything they worked so hard for. That's a challenging thing to face, but have ya ever told them ya want them to stay?"
"That's the very thing I'm fearing. Saying I want you to stay. I just don't know what to do." I admitted I was stuck I wanted someone to point me to the right direction I need a sign but that sign would never come.
"I'm sorry, but I can't help hopefully your life will turn out for the better." I simply nodded and walked away from the homeless man. I dropped my cigarette to the ground and stepped on it letting the ashes fade. But before I left I took out my wallet and handed the homeless man some money.
"Hey uh thanks for listening I know we're stranger but here looks like you need it more then me." I said to him taking out two one hundred dollar bills.
"Thanks friend hope your troubles are finished when ya get home." I simply nodded and turned away and continued towards my car.
I look at my watch to see that it was eight a.m. I had to get home before anyone else woke up. It was a long quiet drive home.
Later...
I entered my drive away and exited my car and walked towards the front door, turning the knob I pushed open the door to see Amy and Dawn watching tv with the volume low. The two seem to enjoy their time as they watched Spongebob Squarepants.
Stepping forward into the living room the two turned their heads to see me, they both got off the couch and ran towards me.
"Where were you mister?" Dawn asked as she placed her hands on her hips with an annoyed expression.
"I went out for a bit." I informed nonchalantly
"Where?" She asked once more.
"Well it started off as a drive around town that escalated to driving to Denver which lead to me walking around the city for a bit before going back home." Dawn seemed upset that I left which was to be expected she always hated when I left without telling her.
"Look I'm sorry little sis I just needed some time by myself, I spent most of my week with girls and it does take a toll on a guy." Dawn's attitude slightly changed as she let out a soft sigh.
"It's okay I guess I can pass it up, but you need to tell us first mister!" Dawn said glaring at me.
"I will kiddo so what's up?" I asked walking into the living room.
"Nothing but we're hungry." Dawn complain Amy simply rubbed her stomach and made a mouth gesture.
"Alright pancakes here we come, Dawn help me out a bit." She nodded and proceeded into the kitchen using a step stool to see the counter.
15 minutes later...
"Now mom told me to flip it when the edges start to turn brown, now you do the same!" Dawn informed as she taught me how to cook store bought pancake mix.
"Like this?" I asked flipping the pancake over to see the golden brown fluffy cake that was the pancake.
"Yup yup!" Dawn happily shouted
"You weren't kidding when you said that your sisters taught you to cook." Scootaloo teased as she let out a rather loud yawn.
"Hey the most I can do is boil water and pour it into dried noddles and throw frozen food into the oven gotta keep things simple." Scootaloo rolled her eyes as she entered the kitchen looking into the fridge to get something out, her butt was out with her tail hanging high.
Dawn had walked out of the kitchen and towards Amy. Most likely to ask about what she wanted on her pancake.
"You really like wearing things that show off your ass don't ya?" I asked not facing Scootaloo.
"You like it, deny it and I won't let you touch it ever again." She taunted with a slight giggle.
"Well your ass does look good from this angle plus with your CutieMark just makes it ten times better." I said with a chuckle before continuing to make breakfast.
"So where did you go? I woke up with you not inside me." Scootaloo informed whispering the last part into my ear.
"I went out for a bit thought about somethings is all. Nothing you gotta worry about." Scootaloo nods and looks over your shoulder to see your sisters conversing about something both seemed to be giggling and smiling as they glanced towards her.
"What're you two talking about?" She asked playfully.
"Well Amy and I were wondering are you my brother's girlfriend?" I simply dropped the spatula making Scootaloo chuckle.
"Well yeah pretty much I mean me, Applebloom, and Sweetie Belle we're all saying your bro. He's pretty much the perfect guy for us, plus he knows us really well."
"You can say that again he's cute and caring like any other special guy especially since he took us in our time of need." Sweetie informed walking downstairs.
"Yup and he took pretty good care of us when we were hurtin'." Applebloom added as she joined Sweetie.
"Wow you all must love him well just know this, he's our big brother you better take good care of him same goes to you too mister!" Dawn informs her hands on her hips as she glared right at me.
"You don't have to worry about us, we'll take special good care of him." Scootaloo stated as she placed my hand on her soft flank. Her soft silky tailed wrapped itself around my hand as she closed the gap between the two of us.
"Good." She said with a nod before walking back to her little sister.
Scootaloo gave me a kiss as did the other two girls as they walked towards my sisters. Going back to the pancakes I began to think about my decision if I begged them to stay they'd stay but in turn leave their old lives, if I told them to go everything before they arrived would be the same along with their lives.
Whatever I chose it would've made both parties upset, nothing would prepare me for what I'd say to them in a week before they'd leave. I had to have all the fun I wanted with them, it's only natural that I'd spend my time with my friends and now family.
I made my decision it was a difficult one but I had to let them go. It's my choice and in the end it'll be better this way. I can only await the eventual end to this wonderful journey. I looked outside to see a large amount of dark thunderous clouds, I smiled as it meant spending time inside my home.
