//-------------------------------------------------------// Rarity's side business -by Ellipsis The Reader- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Opening for business. //-------------------------------------------------------// Opening for business. It was that time of the year again in Ponyville. The Summer was midway and the days were at their hottest. All the winter celebrations and spring parades were over and the next holiday was the autumn Running of the Leaves, and of course Nightmare Moon Night, but that didn't help the little white unicorn with three shiny gems on her flank. They did not need the young mare's services. No: Rarity did help decorate the two autumn holiday, and even if she did it still would not be enough to cover the 6-month gap of income. And so she would open her 'side business' for the second half of the year, as she has done every year since she opened Carousel Boutique. It was a terrible story, if even there was one. She opened for business in mid-spring. She sold a few dresses but business was slow, and she was forced to limit her meals, water use, and cleaning supplies (both personal and household). This caused some dismay in the young mare's life, and more came in mid summer when all sales stopped completely. The ponies of Ponyville had no need of clothes in the working times, fields to tend to and ranches to maintain. Needless to say her money ran out. Thankfully her parents, bless their loving hearts, gave her a sizable amount of bits to help out. Rarity celebrated with a large breakfast and an extra, extra long bath, followed with two months of penny-pinching. Even so her bit count ran low and no sales came in. She stopped making dresses as all her mannequins were full and there was no need to make more just for them to not sell. With only a week's worth of bits Rarity decided, rather than spend the next week in a quite panic she would go the local, and only, bar in Ponyville The Mud Hole. While it was not a place she would normally like to go to it was the only place to drown one's sorrows. Which is what she was going to do before going to tell her parents she can't go through with her business. She would then most likely would find a nice stallion and become a simple housewife. She pushed the thoughts out of her mind. She would have plenty of time to think those thoughts hangover. She entered the bar and took a sit; politely ask for a drink and started drinking. She was halfway through her third round when a stallion came up to her, "Well aren't we a heavy drinker." She looked over to see one of the field stallions, a name didn't come to her. "Oh this. No I'm just trying to forget my terrible life for one night." He chuckled at her depressing admission. He had a grey coat with black hair and what looked like wheat for a cutie mark. "How can a beautiful mare like you have a bad life?" He asked taking a seat. "Oh like a fool a decided to chase a dream. Now I'm falling out of bed, and falling hard." He laughed again, "And hows that?" Finishing her drink, "I wanted to a seamstress, a dress maker, and while business was painfully slow at first it has altogether stopped and seems to have no chances starting up." He busted out, "HA HA! Of course not! The last thing I would want my wife to do this time of the year is wear clothes." A bit hazy Rarity could only reply, "Come again?" With regained composure, "Ain't nopony here in ponyville wants to be buying fancy dresses during work season." "Heh?" Was all that came in response. "The workin stallions don't want their honey in fancy giddups when they get home. They just want to buck 'em." "Heh?" once again. "And no mare is going to get prettied up if their stud going to be gone all day." "Heh?" A recurring theme was starting to emerge. "Plus they have their own work. Basically, you ain't gonna sell fancy while everypony working." Rarity smiled a small smile, "So how am I to make business? Wait til holiday?" The stallion ordered another drink, "You would be more likely to sell in the winter. In fact, you could get hired as a decorator. Sure you could talk the mayor into paying for it." Rarity laughed putting her head to the bar. "Ha ha. That's great! Now I just need to make it till winter." Tears started to form to which Rarity order more sweet liquor. "Give me the strongest you got. I can take it." And she did, twice. Now the world spun just enough to the white unicorn dizzy and unable to use magic straight. She was unable to lift the glass anymore. "Sorry Sweetie." The bartender stopped her, "Got a rule: You can't get the drink, you don't get to drink." And walked off. "Well phooey. Now what? I guess I should head home." She got off the stool and on her face she went. "Need some?" The grey stallion offered. "Please?" He helped her to her hooves and walked her out. From there on it was more-less a blur, but she remembered get home. "It's a bit chilly, autumn coming." The stallion commented. "It's plenty warm inside." The drunk unicorn remarked. "Is that so?" "I think so, maybe you could help me check." she giggled. "Maybe I should." And with that they enter the fashion boutique, and soon after lustful moans could be hear form the opened forgotten door. Rarity once heard her mother say, "Hangovers are Celestia's way of punishing us for getting drunk and stupid." If she was right, then it was a cruel way of punishment. She could've just throw us in a dungeon for ten years, but nope! Knives in skull. Rarity's morning with getting out of bed face first. "Why?" she almost begged. Rarity laid on the floor for a while just wanting to cry. After she looked around. This was her first home away form her parents. She wondered what Sweetie Belle was doing. Waking up of course. Or eating breakfast. Then something caught her eye. On her dresser was a pouch. She got up and walked over as straight as she could. It was a bag a bits, and a bit of bits. What is this? Where did it come of? Rarity thought. Then it came to her. It's payment. Payment, for last night. She it threw across the room. It was dirty. She was dirty! "Oh sweet Celestia! I'm a-" She just wanted to throw the whole bag away, run to her mother and cry. Cry until her mother ensure her that everything was okay, and will be okay. Cry until her daddy came to hold her and chant, "There, there my little gem." Cry until her precious little sister came to her asking so sweetly, "Please stop crying." And would in turn cry with her. But she didn't. Instead she cried because she knew she had to accept it. She had to take that dirty money, and spend on her dream. She knew it wasn't going to be easy, and now she felt ashame for giving up so easily. So she gather up the bits and counted them. Enough for a few days. A week if she stretched it out, but it wouldn't last. She would need to 'work' again. And with that Rarity's side business opened for business. It is a woeful tell, but what makes it truly terrible it that on the night Rarity's side business was also her first. Author's Note Well this was shorter that I predicted, but whatever. Maybe I can more later. Well thanks for reading if you read this, and let me know what you think. P.s. Thank Celestia for spell check. //-------------------------------------------------------// Favorite Customer //-------------------------------------------------------// Favorite Customer Today started like any other. Rarity had just made the deal with three queens of a great country for a 100 dresses each and the most handsome princess asked for her hoof in marriage, and her three perfect foals were telling her how much they loved her. Then she finally opened her eyes to her bedroom. It was boring compared to her dreams. She sat up rubbing the sleepies form of her eyes. "One day." She told herself, "One day." She climbed out of bed and marched out. She headed to Sweetie Belle's room but remembered her sister was not staying with her this week. No, Sweetie Belle and her parents were visiting family far off. Just as well, Rarity didn't want her precious little sister around today. Today was the day she her side business opened this year. She was almost happy, after all her favorite customer was coming today. She decided to clean up. Floors, windows, and everything that had a solid layer of dust on it. She put all her mannequins and other supply in her work room. She would not be using them for a while. She took the occupied models and put them on display. Just because she was making back room deals didn't mean front room ones had to be neglected. Even if they were rare. She changed her bed sheets with fresh linen; nothing was too good for her number customer. She took the removed sheet to the laundry room, or as her mother would call it 'The Family Shame Room.' There she took care of Opal's area. Finally, she cleaned up herself. A nice bath with extra strength conditioner to give her mane extra luster. She let the vitamins and nutrients soak in. After, she rised off and went to apply make-up. Not too much, just enough to be sexy. Rarity finished just in time. Her favorite customer was here. She watched him from her bedroom window. He was one of the most handsome stallions in ponyville. He was nice and polite, spoke kindly and always minded his manner, and on top of all that his winning trait was that he wasn't selfish like so many others. He always made sure to take care her as much as she would him. She would take him any day, even if he was strange order. She troted downstairs to greet him. The doorbell rang as she approached the door. Using her magic to open the door she greeted her first customer, "Big Mac, please come in. How are you." The red stallion entered, "Good day Miss Rarity." "Mac, please." Rarity cooed, "Just Rarity will due." "Yes ma'am." "And pleasssse don't call me ma'am." Rarity sang, "We're practically the same age. "Of course Rarity." "Now wait here. I just remembered that I left the hat in the workroom." She opened the door to a room of cluster. Her goal in the back, because of course it is. Rarity sighed and started moving thing out of the way. "I still can't change my cutie mark." "That's okay." Macintosh said in the showroom. "I've learned how to change my voice." Rarity informed him. "No need for that." He asked looking at the displays. "I change my eye color. It's not too hard." Rarity was closing in on her target. "That's okay," His eyes shifted to the floor, "I want to thank ya Rarity." "Don't mention." She said from the workroom. "This is a business." "Well I mean, thanks also for not telling anypony about... you know." Big Mac became redder. "Oh Big Mac," Rarity called out, "You have nothing to be ashame of. Applejack is a beautiful mare in every way. She's strong and clever. Any stallion be lucky to have her." "But she still my sister." Mac called back, "My little sister." "Well she isn't little anymore darling," She said coming out with a cowboy hat, "And I'll tell you now. You won't hear a word from me if you decide to get with her." He smiled just a bit, "Thanks." "Sure thing," Rarity smiled backed, "Now go upstairs while I get ready." He nod and trotted upstair. When he was out of sight she started her spell. She foused on her fur: not her skin. Did not want to repeat that mistake. Soon her aura came over her and changed the color of her coat from beautiful white to healthy orange. Next her mane, the aura washed over it changing it from lovely purple to a pretty yellow. Last, she put the hat on and done. She trotted to her room. Opening the door she asked, "How do I look?" Big Mac looked over to Rarity with his sister's color. "Oh! You look- You look- Umm..." Losted: he paused to gather his thoughts, "You look amazing." He said as she trotted to him. "No need to rush." Rarity whisphered, "Foreplay is free." ***** Their lips make contact and their tongues caress one another. His hooves start to explore her body. Rubbing her neck and forelegs. Brush over her now golden mane. This was interupted with Rarity pulling back, "Let's go to the bed." They trotted over and sat on the linen sheet and continued. This time Rarity joined in the exploration. Starting with his great muscles. The muscles that maintain Sweet Apple Acres. These and Applejack's muscles work the literal acres apples. From dawn to dust sweat drips off their massive frames. How must he feel to watch his beautiful sister's body work and see only forbidden fruit. Forced to settle with Rarity's lean body. While she made sure stay fit and healthy she could never have the firm tone AJ had naturaly. Luckly Big Mac could overlook this nick in his fantasy, She continued her journey to its obvious destination. As she touched his spot a moan of tension sounded. Rarity was always impressed with how a pony's privates were hidden away. Out of public sight, but still easy to accept for restroom and other uses. She revealed the sizeble stud. It quickly came to its full size and she started working her tongue on it. "Oh Aj" Macintosh moaned which cued Rarity to start the next stage of her service. She had become very skilled in this field. Never choking or even gaging as she worked a stud. Then, without surprise, Big Mac pulled on her to come over. After swinging her flank over he started at her own fancy bit. Always the gentlemen he made sure to please his lady friends. Most stallions just sit back and enjoy her oral services. Some just fulfill their part there and pay up. Leaving Rarity unsatisfied, not that it mattered. Is was business and that was job. Luckly this did the deal Big Mac. He alwayed return the favor, but something she did wonder if it was out of common code or a desire to love his sister. It didn't matter because neither answer would surprise her. What did surprise was Big Mac's premature climax, or rather just earlier that normal climax. He usually held out until the main act. "I'm sorry." Big Mac apologized, "Applebloom been so active lately I haven't been able to relieve myself." "It's fine." Rarity wiped her muzzle "Hope you don't charge me extra." He smiled. She tried to look crossed but she couldn't help smiling. They rearrange their bodies. Rarity laid face down on her pillow; her flank in the air. "Mount up cowboy." Big Mac did with pleasure and grace. Smoothly inserting til fully in, and then pumping at an smooth, pleasureing pace. A real goldilocks. Not too fast, or too slow. Oh Applejack, Rarity thought, you have no idea what you're missing out on. The couple moved and sweated. Her fresh sheets were now damp. Her mane was getting stuck on her face and neck. Soon she was biting into her pillow to hold her near screams in. After many mighty thrusts Big Mac finished with a powerful load. Where his first shot was like firecracker, this was a full barrel of TNT. Heat swell inside Rarity and dipped out. The magnificent stallion collpased next to Rarity breathing heavily. Rarity checked her clock. Lunch had come, gone, and been forgotten. Rarity giggled. Stamina was definitely in Big Mac's list of strength. "Well, I would invite you to lunch but Granny Smith is probability worrying." She climbed out and almost slipped on the 'AJ hat'. It must have fallen off at some point. "I'll just tell her I took a snooze and over slept." Big Mac replied, "She'll believe it." "Well, I'm going to get a late lunch from the cafe." She started to the door. "I understand." Big Mac climbed out of bed, "I'll pay and leave." Rarity turned around, "Oh Big Mac, I didn't mean it like that." "It's fine." He put the money on the drawers. "Like you said. Granny Smith is probability worried about me." Rarity sighed, "Yes, of course." They headed down together. "Well have a good day." "Thank you Rarity." She opened the door for him where Applejack was about to knock. "APPLEJACK!" They shouted together. "Rarity, I was wondering if you saw-" she saw him. "Big Mac? What you doin' here?" "Umm, well..." Big Mac had nothing. "Well we're busted Big Mac." Rarity confessed, "Might as well come clear." "What!" Big Mac was shocked "What's gonna on here?" Aj asked. "Your loving brother here was only trying to be nice." Rarity added. "Rarity please!" Big Mac begged. "You see your birthday was coming close and your big brother was wanting to get a gift." Rarity cooked up. "He what?" Aj reponsed. "Yes, he was going to have me make a fantastic gown for you. So you would look your very best on those special nights." Rarity monologued "Really now." Applejack looked to her brother. "Well, umm.." He stared down and kicked the floor. "Oh Big Mac," She nuzzled his neck, "You ain't got anything for my birthday." After the shock he nuzzled her back, "Well nothing too good for my Applejack." They step apart, "Okay then, now me another question." Aj turned to Rarity, "Why are you orange?" Rarity quickly looked at her hooves. Her coat was still the fruity tint, and soon enough Applejack was comparing their colors. Luckly Rarity thought fast. She crossed her forelegs and said, "I was modeling." Her smile went from ears to ears. "Rrriight." Applejack said, "Well, Granny left some apple slices and salad for ya, so come on home." "Right behind ya Aj." He started out but stopped and faced Rarity, "Thanks alot Rarity." "No problems Big Mac," Rarity waved him off, "I'll start working on the design tonight." "You know I still got that gala dress." Aj called back. "That formal wear Applejack." Rarity replied, "These will be more causal." "Right." Aj turned to walk with her brother. Rarity sighed heavily. That was close, she thought. Closing the door the she prepared the reversal spell as well her contraceptive spell. She already performed it once a week as instructed, but she alway did it after Big Mac. A stud as powerful as him might overpower the magic. It was ridiculous, but better safe than sound. After her coat was the purest white and mane fabulous violent she head out to grab lunch. Well technically second lunch, because after all a proper lady does not spit. Author's Note NOT A CLOPFIC! Let's get this straight. While there is sex, and descriptions of it, this is not suppose to get your rocks off. This story explore the topic in philosophical ways on various levels. If you do get your rocks off then congratulations you prev. No seriously, thanks for read and let me know what you think. //-------------------------------------------------------// A Special Day //-------------------------------------------------------// A Special Day "Oh yes. Oh yes." Rarity shouted with lust filled energy, "Yes, yes. More." She cried as her latest client hammered on. Anyone who heard her cries of passion, which no one did thank Celestia, would believe she was having the greatest time a mare could have, but if one were to see Rarity from any angle other that directly behind they would know that every shout of passion and ecstasy was completely and utterly fake. Red Thunder, a dark coated pegasus with a red mane and cute little red lighting bolts for a cutie mark, was enjoying Rarity's services and bless his heart he was trying his best, but he just couldn't push her buttons the way she would to. So she would just fake her moans of pleasures. After all getting off wasn't exactly necessary for her, but sometimes she wondered if she was doing him kindness or just dooming him never pleasing a mare while thinking he was the best they would ever get. Actually that would be unkind to his future lady friends. All the heavens above knew they didn't want another stallion like that. Well, that time came as it did every time. Red Thunder released himself and Rarity sang her high note. Another flawless performance and once again the mighty love machine collapsed next to her huffing and puffing. She rolls over to look at the ceiling also breathing heavily, at least for a while to keep up appearances. Sometimes she thought about taking up smoking just so she could have something to do. "Well I guess that’s my time." Red Thunder said in his pool of sweat. "I think you got a few minutes left." Rarity joked to which Red Thunder just sighed and rubbed his eyes, "Something wrong?" "Nothing. Just... tired." His forearms fell to his side, "I'm getting really sick of Rainbow Dash." And with that Rarity started the other part of her of side business. While providing the means for stallions to release physical stress she also allowed them to relieve their mental stress as well. She would listen to anything they had to say, and like as they didn't boast about her business to the whole town she did not say one word of her clients woes out of this room. This bed. "What happened?" "Everyday me and Stormkite have to keep the north section in check," Thunder explained, "and every day she just loths around. She takes naps while we're run ragged." "She can't be that bad." Rarity commented. "Not that bad?" Thunder asked, "I don't even know why she still it change? She can't lend worth a featherpillow." "Is she that bad?" Rarity honestly asked now, with concern about her close friend. "Hmmp. You remember the low line storm we had last year?" Thunder asked. "I think so." Rarity thought hard, "A low line storm is when you force a storm of the local sources, and rather having it float up high it stays low and goes straight to rain cloud." "Yeah. Often used to make up for missed high flys." Thunder continued, "Well, one day me and Stormkite are flying our patrols when we see a wave of black clouds. Scared the moldens off us. I mean these were some deathcloud. Category 5, strike the earth then start a fire. Blow you through a house and a house through you. Nailed everything down and go on kiss it good bye." "And you tell that just at a first glance?" "Baby, YOU could tell that at a first glance." Thunder pointed to white unicorn. "You did need to be expert to know these thing were trouble." "What did you do?" Rarity was invested in the story. "Well, at first we were about to turn and report it. Get some backup," Red Thunder explained, "but it was coming in too fast. No way we could get there and back in time. So I looked to Stormkite and asked what should we do and you know what he said." "What?" Rarity was hang on every word. "With this strange look in his eye his look went straight at me said 'We bust it.' and flew straight in." Red spoke with wonder, "I follow soon after. It was greatest cloud bustin' I ever done did. I got struck by lightning about three time, and the world started turnin this weird shade of red and purple. The taste of burnt metal came to me, but all that was nothing compared to what Stormkite must have got through. When he came out he was smoken from this burn mark, while I didn't even get a mark from my hits, he also sprained a wing and pulled the other, and though he never tell it like this I sure he broke a few ribs." "Wow." Was all Rarity muster. "Yeah, and after that we thought we going to be heroes. Turns out we almost get court marshal. Why? Because that storm was suppose to come through and juice up the ground." "Juice up the ground?" Rarity was confused. "When lighting strikes soil it makes it more fertile." Red quickly explain. "Oh! I didn't know that." Rarity was surprised to learn something new. "Yeah, well guess whose job it was to tell us this?" Red Thunder asked. "Who?" "NO PONY! Because Rainbow Dash didn't assign anypony to tell us." He was becoming angry. "She put up a memo and that was all. A lame memo, and nothing else. This thing could've killed somepony. To this day we both believed we saved lives, and to this day we hate cyan bull." "Oh come now." Rarity tried to soothe the dark Pegasus though she was also to dislike that cyan bull as well. "Stormkite lost a promotion because this thing was two weeks in planning, and we stopped it." Red Thunder spoke with lost passion, "She didn't even ran drills." "That's doesn't sound right." Rarity commented, "She’s the element of loyalty." "Loyalty doesn't equal competence." Red Thunder simply remark, "I rather have a slimy turncoat watch my back out there that Rainbow Dash." "Really now?" Rarity was in disbelieve. "So long as he had a good head on his shoulders." Red stated, "Wouldn't stab you in the back until you no good to him, and out there you're always good so long as you can fly." "Is that so?" Rarity asked. "Oh yeah. For sure." He nodded slightly, "The north sector is the most dangerous of the five with cold front and warm front every summer and winter and there's always a chance of griffon attacks." "Griffons?" "Yeah, they have a little village to the north," He explained, "and you never be sure if they’re going to attack. They're honest folks mostly. Strong code of honor, but their promises aren't inherited from parents to child. So the young ones are unpredictable. Never know what they going to do." "And you and Stormkite work it by yourselves?" Rarity was becoming shocked. "Yep, while Rainbow and her seven are work the center sector." Red huffed, "The calmest sector has eight ponies while me and Stormkite are working 12 hours shifts just to cover the bare minimum." He let out a deep sigh, "It's just unfair in every way." They sat in quiet for a what seem like hours when finally the first light of day came up. Dawn was here and Red Thunder's time was up. It was her after night shift slot for stallions who worked nights wanted a little before going home. "Well I'll head out now. Same rate?" The dark stallion got up. "Yes. Just put the money on the nightstand. I trust you." She replied with faith. "I should get back so I get chewed out for having the cloud cover misaligned," He opened the window and checked for on lookers, "or hear about Rainbow Dash being praised for having it just right." He jumped out and flew off. Rarity rolled over to catch a few more winks. Though not too many. She needed to get up soon, because this was a very special day. ***** Two eggs over easy with a dry biscuit and a bowl of oats. A glass of juice followed by a glass of milk. A filling breakfast for a big day. Rarity needed to be at her top shape today. She went and counted her money that she had for today. She told ten bits from every side payment for luxuries, no matter how big it was. Ten and only ten. The rest went to bills, maintence, and supplies. Even so, she often found herself on the edge of bankrupt, but she always pulled through. She counted up her spending money. This will be plenty, Rarity thought to herself. She headed downstairs when the doorbell rang. When she steped out she saw a pale stallion with a blue mane. His cutie mark was a lighting with wings. "Hello, Miss Rarity?" The stallion greeted, "I'm Soarin’ of the Wonderbolts. I was wondering if I could talk to you." Rarity was stunned. "What? Oh! Of course come in, that is... come in more." she laughed nervously. "So what bring a noble Wonderbolt here?" "Well, the Blue Feather company is looking for a new design," Soarin’ explain, "and a little birdie told me you're one of the best." "Well, I'm proud to say that birdie told you was right." Rarity was pleased with his remake. "Now what kind of design should we go for?" Stripes. No, checker pattern. No, lightening stripes with checker pattern. Genius! "Well, it's going to be a competition." Soarin’ informed the excited seamstress, "There’ll be other designers. So you'll have to bring your a-game." Rarity busted out, "Ha! I didn't know there were other kinds to bring." She used her magic on her pencils and started the to draw out the shapes. "So I guess you want something stylish, efficient, and aer-o-dy-na-mic." She struck a line with each syllables. "Yeah. You know," The pale Pegasus flew over next to the artist at work, "that birdie also told about your other service you supply." No. Her heart sank. No, it can't be. "Other service?" Rarity tried to play dumb, "I don't think I know what you're talking about." She smiled a winning performance. "Oh come on," the stallion egged on, "I been saved up my allowance like a good boy. I should have enough to get some tail." "Oh that 'service'," The white mare couldn't play without looking like a utter fool. "Yeah. I got the bits to pay." She couldn't believe this. This wasn't fair, but it did make sense. After all dreams don't just fly in and get you everything you want. No, you have to work for it. "Well, you know," Rarity marched away, "I'm sorry to inform you, but that service it for locals only." "Well I'm a native local." He followed. "Are you now?" Rarity questioned. "Oh yeah!" He boasted, "I was born just west of here. My grandfather was the sector head. Retired the year I became a Wonderbolt. I flew all over Ponyille. I know every nook and-" "Soarin’ I am sorry," Rarity was on the edge of tears, but it didn't matter because the two worlds must never intertwine, "But I have other appointments today. So if you would be so kind." She opened a window. "Rarity I was-" "Now please. I have guests coming over and I must prepare." Rarity nearly pushed him out. Closing the window and drawer the blinds. She then fell to the floor and started crying. Her tears were cut by the doorbell ringing and a high-pitched cry, "Rarity!" She climbed to her hooves and used her magic to fix her make-up, then followed her name to the source, "Sweetie Belle!" She hugged her little sister. "Well?" The little unicorn smiled as wide as she could, but Rarity didn't seem to notice. "Now Sweetie Belle, I hope you had breakfast," Rarity went into kitchen, "if not I will make you something quickly." Sweetie Belle heart sank. Her ear drooped, "Well Mom made a big stack of-" "Good," Rarity interrupted, "Just give me one second to clean up." She wrapped her aura around the eggs, biscuit roll, oats, and all dishes and pots and placed them all away in one stroke. "Ha! I would just love to see Rainbow Dash try to do that." Sweetie Belle whined, "Rarity!" "Now now, Sweetie Belle," Her elder sister hurried on, "We have a full day ahead of us." "What are we doing?" Sweetie Belle asked. "Groceries!" Rarity declared getting her purse, "We need to stock up for the week." "Okay, but Rarity-" Her sister trotted out the door, "Hurry up." They headed out. Rarity was pranced while Sweetie sulked after her. When they arrived to the market place Rarity tried to make conversation, "So how is school?" "Fine." Sweetie answered, "I'm having trouble in math." "Math is very important. You need in about everything." Rarity explained, "And how about your cutie mark?" Sweetie Belle perked up a little, "Oh, well me and the crusaders-" "The crusaders and I." Rarity corrected. "The crusaders and I," Sweetie Belle fixed, have been trying a lot of stuff, but none of us have gotten our cutie mark." "Well, perseverance is a virtue." Rarity reassured. "Just keep trying. You'll have it before you know it." "Okay." Sweetie Belle was smiling again. "Just nothing too dangerous," Rarity asked, "at least not without adult supervisions." "Of course Rarity." They went on through the market to gather their list. Fruit of the fruit stands and spices from spice stands. She recognized her 'clients', but greeted and dismiss her with 'Miss Rarity.' and she a simple 'Thank you.' They finished the list and start on home. "Well I can't wait to get home." When they neared the boutique Sweetie Belle piped out, "Rarity can we bake a cake?" "What?" Rarity called back, "Why would we do that?" "Well because..." She tried find the words. "Sweetie Belle, whatever it is it can wait til we get home." Rarity cut her off, "Now hurry up darling." And she did, but with a heavy scowl, "I can't believe you." She mumbled under her breath. They came to the front door, "Sweetie Belle go inside and get a pot of water going for soup." "Okay." Sweetie Belle opened the door to darkness, but it was soon flooded with light as a booming 'SURPRISE' rang through. Her parents and friends were all under a banner reading ‘HAPPY BIRTHDAY ‘ as confetti rained down. Sweetie was speechless as she ran to friends. "Well, did we surprise you?" Applebloom asked. "Of course we did!" Pinkie popped in, "Did you see the look on her face. It was like" She gasped deeply, "and then was" Pinkie made an over sized smiled. "It was great!" Sweetie Belle laughed but she quickly scowled then turn to ran to her sister and kicked at her, "You're so mean Rarity." "What?" Rarity tried to act coy, "I don't know what you mean." "I thought you forgot about today." "What are talking about?" Rarity smiled, "I'm just as surprised as you are." Sweetie Belle puffed out her cheeks looking as mad as she could until Applebloom called her, "Sweetie Belle come play some party games." She turn to join the other crusaders. Rarity, now free of her deception role, went to sample to the banquet of party food made by Pinkie Pie. There was cake and punch and tiny sandwiches, which was always strange to her. Why tiny sandwiches? Who thought of them? Why did they think of them? As she progressed her belly rumbled. Her filling breakfast had been depleted, but before she should decide of what to eat her mother jumped her with hugs and a kiss. "Oh Rarity." "Mother." She hugged back. Then her father came over floating a small present, "Who's this for?" "You of course." Her father asked, "Ya think we forgot about you." He floated the gift over, "Happy Birthday Little Gem." "Ooo! This is my favorite day of the year." Her mother squeed, "The day both my precious fillies were born." She was about to cry. Rarity took the present in her magic form her father's and the bow came neatly off. She pried the top and inside was a beautiful gold necklace with a large diamond with the same cut as the ones of her cutie mark. She smiled sweetly, "How much did this cost you?" "Not too much." Her father said, "We saw it on our vacation, and I just had to get it. The zebra we brought it from said that gems and gold were so common he could sell them cheap." "Well good." Rarity sighed, "I only asked because... well, this is fake." "What!" Her father was shocked. Her mother's smile fell. "Yes. The gem is clearly fake, and the gold is just cheap metal painted." Rarity examined the necklace. "I can't believe this." Her father said scowling. "Well it's the thought that counts," Rarity said then gave her a big kiss on the cheek, "and I still love it." She dawned the necklace. She looked at herself in a mirror. "It looks great. Thank you." "Rarity! Get over here." Rainbow Dash called out. "Well I guess I should sociality." Rarity hugged her parents and then went to join her friends. "Happy birthday Rarity." Twilight greeted her, "I didn't know you shared birthday with Sweetie Belle." "Oh yes." Rarity said, "The day Sweetie Belle born was the birthday of my life. A was so happy wen I saw. You know, many know this, but I was the one who named her." "Really?" Fluttershy asked. "Oh yes." Rarity answered. "When I went to visit her I heard her singing. So I said, "She a 'sweetie bell', and daddy named her as such." "Sweetie Belle when she was a newborn?" Twilight was skeptic. "Well I say she was and anypony who says different can suck an apple core." Rarity remarked. Applejack busted out laughing. "Woo. I remember the day lil' Applebloom was born. I was just peaches." Twilight had joined the laughter, "Still, sharing a birthday. It must be special." "Oh it's nothing." Rarity played it off. "Nothing!" Pinkie popped in above them somehow. "It's super awesome. I wish I shared birthdays with my sister. That would so great." "But then you have less parties a year." Rainbow Dash entered a dash logic. To which Pinkie Pie countered, "That's okay. We just party harder. Enough for all of us." Everyone laughed, even Fluttershy giggled. Then Twilight floated out a present form her bags. "Here. I got then for you." It was book, because it is always a book with Twilight. Books were the only thing she ever gave. "Oh thank you." Rarity took and placed it with the other for her. Five from ponies and a sixth from a friendly dragon. Speak of whom, "Aren't you going to open them?" Spike asked walking up. "Oh no. You see, it's rude to open a present in front of the giver." Rarity pulled out a half truth. In reality she simply didn't want to open them. She knew they would be unappealing. Her heart was set on one thing. Everything else was secondary. "Well that?" Dashie pointed to fake necklace. "It was from my parents." Rarity explained, "It would be cruel to say no to them." "I can understand that." Applejack interjected, "You know Granny Smith says 'The greatest birthday gift your every got was the first one your momma gave ya.' and then something she finishes with 'and don't forget your papa helped." Anyhow, the party went on. They danced. They played. Rarity showed off her fake gem, but mostly stepped back letting the others have fun. She didn't feel like 'getting down' with them. She wondered why. She was usually more out going, talkative. Then it hit her. Just this morning she had done business on the side. On this day. The day celebrating the greatest gift she ever received from her mother, and she have sold it for a few bits not 12 hours ago. Rarity wanted to break down, but she didn't. Instead she told her tears and put them away for later. As the day went on the party's end came. They all started to head out. Scootaloo went with Rainbow Dash. Applebloom was too tired to walk, so AJ carried. Fluttershy and Twilight said their goodbyes and goodnights. Her parents, and Sweetie Belle, decided that Sweetie Belle should stay the night. Which was fine. Rarity had no clients for the rest of the week. Pinkie Pie offerd to come back and help. "I would appreciate that. Thank you." Sweetie Belle fell straight to sleep, so Rarity just put her bed for the night. She then went to open her present. Sweetie Belle had received a number nic naks and toys and little dresses. They were nice. First was Twilight's. She unwrapped to find a book. Shocking. It was a copy of 'History of Fashion'. It was a new print. She had an older, possibly original, copy in her drawer in the workroom. It was wore out and could fall apart anyday. Which was fine. She memorized almost every word and picture. Next was Pinkie Pie. It was also a book. Now that was shocking. It was a book on party design and planning. Very thoughtful of her. Fluttershy and Applejack made a bird-feeder and a red and green scarf that was just lovely. She hang the birdfeeder up and put the scarf away for later. Rainbow Dash was last. It was a large box. She opened it and were books. Comic books. By tens of dozens, and laying on top was a note. 'Had to sneak this in after I heard you weren't opening during party. I thought you use these for dress designer. There's a lot of art based off this stuff so who knows-RD' How thoughtful of her. She squared away the gifts and wrapping when something came to her. She looked around. She looked high and low. In the corners and everywhere she could think of, but she could find her last present. The one from Spike. She knew Spike brought one. She counted it, but now it was gone. Did he take it back? but why? A problem to handling in the morning. Rarity climbed up the stairs. Sweetie Belle light snoring could hear. She went and ready for bed. As she was about climb in bed a tapping sounded form her window. Looking outside she saw a gray mare with golden mane, her eyes looking in two different directions. Whenever Rarity saw her she wondered how mail didn't get mixed up or go missing. Maybe it was her type of magic. A 'never get lost' spell. That's didn't matter. What did matter was what the mail mare had to deliver, which was a letter. It had a third important stamp and was sent from the Blue Feather Offices. Rarity waved bye to the happy deliverer and opened the letter. Dear Rarity, I would like to apologize for my behavior this morning and to inform you that I was not trying to bribe sex from you.
