From Twilight to Sunset.

Chapter 4: Shopping Trip!

Me: Here we are with a new chapter. I do not own MLP in any shape or form typical disclaimers apply.

Sunset pulls at my hand leading me to the school’s parking lot where I spot a crimson red car with Sunset’s Cutie Mark emblazoned on the doors, she reaches into her pockets and pulls out a set of keys with some sort of device on it, she presses one of the buttons and an audible click came from the car and motions for me to get in. I get inside and buckle the seatbelt, Sunset follows suit and turns the key start the engine, from what I had gathered from my short stint in the school library the car is propelled by an internal combustion engine similar to how the Friendship Express runs on steam.

Soon the two of us were on the road towards the “mall” the drive is nice but the silence is uncomfortable so I decided on asking Sunset how my friends were “So, um how have the others been doing since I left?” I ask her trying to break the silence.

“They’re okay, they’ve missed you a whole lot and wished that they could’ve went with you, you know? Fluttershy especially since the becoming an anthromorphic pony.” She answered “What about you? How were things when you returned home?” she asked me.

“Well, not much. Tirek escaped Tartus and nearly destroyed Equestria if me and my friends didn’t discover a power similar to the Elements of Harmony.” I explained.

“I’ve read about Tirek while I was studying under the Princess.” Sunset replied.

“If we hadn’t found a way to defeat him…” I shuddered at the memory of my friends trapped in those spheres listless, barely moving and practically devoid of all hope.

“Here we are, Canterlot Mall.” Sunset spoke up, I look at the large building that we were approaching it was massive; it was at least three stories tall in the shape of a horseshoe.

I gapped at the massive building “It’s so big.” I spoke in awe.

Sunset laughs “Wait until you step inside, then your mind will be blown.” She said as the two of us enter, I could feel my lower jaw drop at the number of stores that the mall had, Sunset pulls out a small notepad and a pen and starts to write in it “Let’s see, for the moment we’ll have to stick with the basic essentials, shoes, socks, underwear and regular clothes. Then some standard textbooks and finally if I can afford it a cellphone, preferably a newer model rather than a cheap throwaway that seem to crop up in every cheesy spy movie.” Sunset mutters to herself, before dragging me with her.

A few hours later…

I sit in the metal chair in the food court exhausted from the number of stores that Sunset and I went to. I looked at a nearby clock and it was just past six o’clock and a steady crowd of people starts to stream into the building, I ignore the growing volume in favor of food, while I may be an omnivore now I doubt that I’ll actually eat meat anytime soon I’ll just settle for a nice salad. Sunset on the other hand, is casually eating a hamburger, fries and drinking soda as though she’s been doing it her whole life. All of a sudden there was a group of people in matching black jackets with a white star on the back started to dance to music that I did not know the language to.

Sunset raises an eyebrow at the performance “Huh, did not see that one coming.” She comments before the group dissipates.

“What in Celestia’s name was that?” I ask her surprised at the impromptu performance, it eerily reminds me of whenever Pinkie decides to perform a musical number and all of Ponyville participates.

Sunset merely shrugs “That was a flash mob. Basically they show up in a crowded place and randomly does a dance number to a prerecorded song, though I don’t recognize the artist.” Sunset mused.

“It reminds me of whenever Pinkie performs a musical number and we get involved in it.” I comment.

“Unlike Equestria, something like this has to be planned months or weeks in advanced, not to mention the choreography has to be carefully detailed.” Sunset explains to me. I nod my head and the rest of the meal continued on with some idle small talk. Half an hour later we exit the mall and Sunset drives towards a building with multiple floors “You can stay with me at my place Twilight; I know it’s not much but my apartment is big enough for the both of us.” Sunset tells me, as I step inside her “Apartment” as she called it and I was amazed at how spacious it was though a little bare, just a couch, a kitchen, a television, a small desk with a computer and printer on it, a table with a couple of chairs and a bed. It looked like it was only a place to grab a quick nap than an abode.

Sunset sheepishly rubs the back of her head in embarrassment “Sorry about this, when I bought the place this was all I needed so I didn’t see the need to get anything else.” Sunset explained.

I waved my hand “That’s okay; we’ll just have to see about adding on later. By the way how can you afford this place?” I ask her.

“Well before I left Equestria I was saving my bits for a limited edition Power Ponies comic that was going to come out and you get the idea. It turns out that the gold used to make bits was worth a lot of money so I only used a small amount to buy the apartment and to hire someone to forge some fake papers. Other than that I haven’t used anymore bits since then because it would be too suspicious if I suddenly had a lot of money to flaunt.” Sunset summarized. She looked at a nearby clock “It’s starting to get late so we should head to bed and get started on tutoring in the morning.” She suggested, I change into the sleep clothes that Sunset bought and she suggested that I sleep on the bed since I was the guest here. I climb into the bed and slip underneath the covers and before I knew it sleep overtakes me.
