In Nocturnal, Echo Shade doesn't die, neither does Dawn. But if they had? What would happen then?

An alternate path for my story Nocturnal.
I recommend reading the first seven chapters of Nocturnal before this.
After Echo Shade dies, Shadow delivers his body back to Canterlot. Leaving without an explanation she wanted for the suspected murder of the stallion. She then becomes just a shadow of her old self, consumed by grief.
