The Fallen Star
Prologue or "Is Celestia High"
Load Full StoryNext ChapterThe Stars were shining brighter than ever. They looked down upon the unusually quiet and serene state of Equestria. Anypony who would have decided to look up into the night sky would've seen the most breathtaking night sky in centuries.
Above the peaks of the misty Canterlot mountains a stark white Alicorn gazed at the stellar spectacle occurring above her head. The Sun Princess was no small pony, even in Alicorn terms. Her wingspan, at it's longest, it would encompass the Canterlot Castle Throne room Doors.
The Princess's eyes looked up in wonder. The sight before her was one of the most awe inspiring sights the princess had ever witnessed in her very LONG life.
The Keeper of the Sun sighed in content. The day had been a trying one to say the least. Between the self centered nobles, accusing politicians, and the endlessly irritating press she had barely any time for herself. So she was incredibly glad she had decided to treat herself with a midnight flight. If any servant decided to check up on the Princess of the day, there would be full blown panic stirring in the Palace.
The Princess decided to think about those things later and returned her attention back to the event of the evening. The Alicorn Goddess stayed like that for sometime. Eventually, shortly after midnight something changed in the sky. It's aura took on a different feel. A slightly purple hue tinged each of the stars in the sky. They began to sharpen in shape and color. The other residents of the night dimmed and blurred back, giving the spotlight to these gems of the sky. Suddenly, Celestia felt a shock wave ripple through magical ley lines flowing through their world. At the same time the stars began a hypnotic dance in the sky.
The Equestrian Ruler's eyes went wide as she glanced up at the light show the night was putting up. The dancing diamonds soon began to circle around a single star. Celestia couldn't figure out which star it had originally been. The original night sky had been completely rearranged. No longer were there the constellations that had been the trademark of the night sky.
All of a sudden, the dance of the stars came to it's climax. The Stars abruptly ended their revolutions in the sky. They then began shaking in the sky as a synchronized shrill shriek emitted out of each. Their shaking got more frantic and their shrieking got more higher pitched as their epicenter sucked in vast of amount of magical energy as if it were an upside down whirlpool in the sky. The star in the center grew. It shape morphed for a few seconds before rebounding to it's perfectly circular shape. The song finally began to die down starting from the outer reaches and flowing to the stars coalesced in the middle. The center star which now dwarfed all of it's brothers and sisters grew to an angry magenta color. The world grew very quiet and Celestia stared intently at the central sphere. Without warning a shock wave, much stronger than before, exploded outwards. It did not only scramble the ley lines in Equestria, but it also materialized physically. The wave of magical energy spread across the dark expanse. It carried the stars when it hit them, pushing them away from the center.
As soon as it had appeared the uncontrolled magical force was gone. All the stars had miraculously aligned themselves back into their original state. All except for one however. The star had lost it's furious color and shrunken in size, but it was still shining bright as ever.
Then it did the most unexpected thing it could've done. It slipped and fell from the sky. The Sun Princess nearly flipped over and lost her control of the air. However she quickly corrected herself and watched the star fall somewhere in the darkness.
The force of the collision between Earth and star was great enough to shake the Canterlot mountains and cause avalanches and Tsunamis all over the world.
Celestia wasted no time. She stretched her wings to the their widest before launching herself like a bullet towards the crash site. The Elder Alicorn Sister zoomed forward and quickly made a brilliant white sonic rainboom that felt so out of place in the elegant majesty of the night. It wasn't long before she arrived at her destination.
The Sun Princess teleported herself right outside the newly formed crater. The earth had cracked around it. All of the nearest trees had been fallen. She saw small amounts of purple lightning flow through the area. Celestia approached the middle of the crater.
What the Princess found made her gasp and fall flat on her flank. She shook her head and leaned over to take in the sight. Curled up in itself was a Unicorn Filly. It had a lavender coat and violet mane. It looked to be an infant barely a day old. However, this was no normal unicorn filly. She had a power inside of her. One that would only grow as she grew older.
Celestia bent to pick her up in her hooves. This filly would have a troubled future the Princess thought to herself. Celestia had been incredibly lucky that she had been the one to discover this infantile pony. Raw power like this could've shaken the very bindings of Harmony if used in the wrong hands.
Celestia having inadvertently prevented a disaster, took off, taking the fallen star with her.
SEVERAL HOURS LATER
Dark Hooded Figures stood over the crater. The Darkness seemed to wisp onto the cloaks making it a part of the shadows of the night. They're cloaks blended well with their environment and repeatedly became engulfed by the night before reappearing elsewhere.
"Oversight," said one of the hooded figures. Her voice was raspy and low. "What can you have you been able to see?"
"The Fallen One was most certainly here," Oversight replied. He stepped out of the shadow of a tree. With his hood drawn off his face was shown in stark quality. His mane was azure and his coat was the clover colored. "Her Magic sticks to the place and permeates the ground deeply. However there are traces of another's magic. It feels like… oh Faust NO!"
"What is it Oversight? What gives you such a fright?" Said another of the Oversight's accomplices.
"It is… that Tyrant… Celestia!" A murmur erupted through the shadows. 'How could it have gone so wrong?' Thought Oversight to himself. They had made many precautions to avoid the possibility of any of their enemies from even becoming aware of tonight's events, much less be present when it occurs.
"Oh this is most terrible indeed," said the first voice, "We have lost our greatest hope for salvation. We should suspected that the Sun Tyrant could've escaped the watchful eyes of our agents."
"Yes and no my dear," said a new voice. It was of a stallion who came out into the clearing, much the way Oversight had done. His voice was firm and calm. "We should have been much more careful than we were. But our hope has not been lost to us. We'll have other times to claim her power. We know who she is with, and our friends in Canterlot will be able to determine her identity and location soon enough." He stopped for a moment and swiveled his head eyeing each shadow in turn. "Our Mistress's strength burns hotter than ever and with it she'll uphold the pillars of our new world. Celestia may have our Mistress, but she has bitten off more than she can chew. She'll never realize the Mistress's true power until we have snatched her from her dirty Tyrannical hooves! We shall strike from their shadows. We shall be fearless in our assault. And when Celestia relinquishes her control over the sun and our world, we will raise a new empire that will bring prosperity and peace never seen before. One that will be led down the right path by our Mistress! And only when we have removed the scourge of Celestia shall we truly be free of our iron chains!"
The crowd that had been listening with their full attention broke out into cheers. Several raised their hooves and many jumped out of their hidden places. The air was thick in the fervor of the ponies. Preemptive Strike raised his voice again, "We shall meet at our headquarters in Trottingham in 5 days. Travel separately and make no contact with other members of the cult until entering the HQ. Travel safely my Brothers and Sisters."
With that, Preemptive Strike turned off. He would catch a train. He was filled with glee. Of course last night had been a total failure, but there were new plans to be made. The Princess better be ready. For her eternal reign will no longer hold. With a smirk he walked away thinking of a hundred different ways to have the foundations of Equestria fall down upon the Princess.
