chapter 1: Adoption Center
In a box on the doorstep of the Adoption Center in the middle of a quiant town in the middle of a far off continent, lay three small children. Each by the names of Celestia, Luna, and Discord. The three were all at the age of five or six, crying thier hearts out at being dropped here without an explination. Discord stopped his crying, and attempted a cute little knock on the door, sniffling sadly, the young multi-race creature was for once in this short period of his life. Sad.
A light blue mare with a silky voice opened the door. Looking down, she gasped at the three small fillies, Discord on the verge of crying again, and Celestia and Luna holding each other, trying to comfort themselves. "Who left you here?" Asked the mare, looking at the small fillies with sadness and utter confusion. Discord spoke up.
"M-m-mm-moth" from the small studder, the adoption mare understood, and picked them lal up, nuzzling them. "You'll all be okay here," she ensured.
About three weeks had passed, and no one adopted the triage of fillies, who of which argued constantly. "NO" shouted Luna, giving Discord an angry look. "I HAD IT FIRST!!!" She jumped up to try and grab the toy, buy discord lifted iy up.
"Prove it" he giggled, loooking down at her angry face. Her horn glowed, surrounding the toy, but discord poked her in a tickled spot, imploding the magic by ruining her concentration.
"Fillies!" Called the adoption mare that took them in. "Somepony is here to adopt!"
Discord and Luna ran immediately, but Celestia was wrapped up in a book, and responded with: "just a minute! only a few paragraphs left!" The adoption mare looked playfully at the large grey eath pony standing before her. \
"She's quite the book worm."
"What are thier names?" Asked the grey stallion, giving an inquiring look.
"Uhh well," she said, pointing to Luna. "That's Luna, sitting next to her is Discord" Celestia walked up and sat next to her sister, Discord smiling wickedly.
Celestia shouted in pain, looking at the thumbtack on the chair. She went red faced and attacked Discord, attacking him veraciously. "STOP IT FILLIES!" Shouted the mare, looking at Celestia. Celestia looked up and saw the large grey stallion stanting there, smiling. She blushed, sitting back down after removing the thumbtack. Discord was still giggling.
"Cute" rumbled the big grey stallion voice.
"So" asked the mare, "what's your name?"
"My name," he started, "is Rackus Greyfire.
"Okay, and I just need your signature, and they're yours!" She said cheerily.
"Alright then" he replied, wrighting the name down on the document, smiling at the trio.
"On you go" she said to the three. "I hope you enjoy where ever your new home may be!" She saounded a little overly happy, but she was also exhausted. The three young children hopped off the bench, and filed next to the large earth pony.
"It's nice to meet you, mister!" Said Celestia, hugging his right forehoof.
He just patted her mane, long with the two others. "Let's save it for the adventure" he said, chuckling. Luna squealed.
"An ADVENTURE!?!?!?! Oh my gosh! I'm so excited!" She bounced around hapily. He placed a hoof on her back trying to stop her from blowing the roof off.
"Calm, little one, this adventure will be fun, but there ARE risks." He said, looking at her. "Risks?" Asked the young Celestia, starting to worry.
"Yes, risks" replied Rackus. "This adventure is to a whole other part of the world." They exited the building, continueing to talk.
"But has this place been explored?" Asked Celestia, her fears deepeneing, she was very sceptical about this.
"You're a smart little filly" he said, rubbing her mane. "No, we are going to be the first ones there, to help clear it out."
"Uhh" said Celestia, but Luna butted in.
"WOW! We get to go explore some place new!?!?!? What if there are other PONIES there?" Luna was taking this in like it was a good thing.
About three weeks later, they fillies grew on thier new "dad," accepting him for how bananas he really was.
"Well, it's finally time to board the ship to take us out to a brand new home."
"Woohoo!" Shouted Luna, this finally soothed her adventerous need. Celestia was ready as well, she had a saddlebag with a knife, a book on survival, and a sheet of what plants were okay to eat. As for Discord..... well... he was just laughing at Luna, rolling on the ground, in fact. He stomped a hoof on the ground, staring at the multi-race child.
"Discord! Stop now and get ready!" Discord stopped, stood, and snapped, there appeared a... what he called.... a "backpack," and he smiled micheviously.
"Alright, my little ponies, single file, lets get there, and get prepared for our tin little boat ride" rang Rackus' voice, deep and rumbly. Discord led them, followed by Celestia, and Luna. Celestia was humming happily, looking a Rackus for comfort in all of this. Her humming was happy, but her look was terrified. "It's okay, Celestia" he said, "if we can make a town in this new land, if it get's big enough, you, could be the wise ruler of it all, and reign over a million subjects"
Celestia's eyes grew wide. "Really???"
As the quartet aproached the boat, Celestia was still ecstatic about the whole "ruler" thing. "Wow..... a... like a queen or something?" She asked, still wide-eyed as a gopher.
"Yes" chuckled Rackus "now, we're almost to the boat, then we can talk all you want, okay?"
"Oh.... sorry" said Celestia, looking down in emberassment.
"Celestia, it's fine, but you might wanna tone it down just a bit" he said, laughing.
Once on the boat, the anchor lifted from the power of a unicorn, and the ship took off. "A unicorn can lift stuff that heavy?" Asked Luna curiously, looking at the anchor that was held on board by a slight purple glow.
"Yes, but an earth pony like me can lift much more," chimed in Rackus, looking at the anchor. He shouted to te unicorn at the top of the boat, "Hey! Think you can drop the anchor!? for just a few minutes?" Rackus walked over to the anchor as the magic imploded, he caught the anchor.
Luna,Celestia, and Discord all watched in amazement as thier newly estableshed father lifted the anchor with his back, his knees shaking under him as he stood completely straight and looked at them. He smiled at the looks on their faces, but that broke his foucus. His knees buckled, and the anchor fell on top of him, there was a loud cruching noise as it happened. The anchor was lifted by the magic, and a large dark grey figure lie there, motionless. The children ran to him, and slid the limp figure across the deck, and the anchor was held again as the medical stallion aproached him.
"He's alive.... in fact, barely any of his bones are cruched, but it'll be a while before he can recover." Stated the stallion as the three fillies sat in the boats small infirmary. "He's awake, but you'll need to be careful if you're gonna even poke him, the cruched bones are still being healed, one shove could dislocate a part and he won't heal properly."
"Yes sir" said Celestia, walking to a stool and sitting next to Rackus. "Hi..." said Celestia, not knowing what to say next.
"It.... it's gonna be.... fine" he managed, "don't worry, i'll be better in no time, and then we can play... just not with anchors."
Celestia giggled, looking at him happily, but with concern as well, a concern only a daughter can have for her father.
"Celestia.... where's your siblings?" He asked, looking concerned. Discord appeared on top of him, sitting, and Luna took a seat on the other side of him.
"Ngh" said Rackus, feeling the pain from Discord sitting on him.
"DISCORD!" Shouted Celestia, "GET OFF OF HIM!"
"S-sorry" said the chaos child, teleporting once more, to sit next to celestia on the stool.
"We're here, Rackus" said Luna, a few little tear droplets in her eyes.
"I already told you all, i'm father, dad, pops, even, not Rackus....." He giggled, which came back with a cough. They all gasped. "I'm fine, silly fillies" he grunted. "I'm just hurting a little."
It was odd, Celestia seemed to care the most for this new stallion they had met not even a month ago, it seemed as though she was going to BE the only one who cared enough to stick with him through this. Help take care of him while he was in this condition. She hefted a medical book over. If she was going to be the only one that was going to try and soothe his pain... Discord snatched the book and hald it, giggling. "C'mon diss.... i'm gonna see if I can find something to help him." Discord look at her, with a realization of what she was doing, he droped the book and hopped on the stool, hugging her. (the only time Discord will ever hug Celestia for the rest of thier lives.)
For the next two weeks, Celestia was skimming the book, looking for spells, looking for anesthetic spells, healing spells, aything. She'd looked over the book about thirty times, trying to find something. Luna walked over.
"Sis' , please, stop... he'll get better in another two weeks or so..."
"NO" replied Celestia. "I want him to be better now! So he can enjoy this trip with us!" She wasn't wanting to give up, not now. She grabbed another book, and began to read.
After only a few more hours, and she found a spell thet could help him feel not only better, but stronger then he was.
"Father" she said, looking at him with sparkling eyes.
"Yes? He replied, looking at her with pain in his eyes.
"I..... I found something... it'll be hard but... I can do it! I'm smart..." he placed a large hoof on her muzzle.
"You might hurt yourself..... you shouldn't care about an old man like me, I adopted you and your.... siblings, so that you could lead a new life in a better p-" but he was cut off.
Celestia began the spell, her horn spitting and sparking.
"CELESTIA" demanded Rackus. "STOP THIS NOw-" his voice shrank down has he felt and inner warmth, as slowly his pain washed away, he could feel himself feeling better, and once he felt normal, he broke Celestia's conversation by giving her a shake. She looked at him with wide eyes.
"Dad... let me finish it!"
He wouldn't listen, shook his head, and sat up on the bed.
"Look Cele." He replied, using her nickname. "I'm okay.... and you already look exhausted..... please... go sleep, recover yourself."
"B-but, I-I can make you better!" She teared up, looking at him.
"Celestia, princess of the new world, i'm already better... I don't need to be any better..." she started to cry, throwing a fit. Rackus knew this was dangerous for a small alicorn. "Please!" He shouted. "Calm down!"
As Celestia continued to rage out, screaming and hollering because she couldn't enhance Rackus' physical capabilities.
Luna and Discord ran into the room, looking at the angry Celestia on the floor, then looking at their just fine adoptive father. Luna jumped on him, not really very affective, but still suprised him. "WHAT DID YOU DO TO 'TIA!!" She screamed, pounding his chest, angrily, and Discord glared at him.
Luna enforced her hits with magic, and he actually felt pain, but he couldn't hurt the little filly, so he accepted the assault, feeling each hit blow magical pain unto him. He felt weaker now, he realized that the anger behind the magic was sapping his strength, and he was getting weaker with each hit, he fell backwards, no longer able to hold himself uup with his weakening strength, still accepting the barage of angry hits. Luna was screaming at him, each hit inflicted more pain and more weakness. Those alicorn fillies, when they were angry, thier magic was extreme at lengths.
As Celestia took measure that someone else was screaming, she looked around the room, seeing Discord hovering and smiling at something she turned to look at what he was seeing. She saw her father, and Luna, her hooves were surrounded with a light blue glow, and her father was barely moving, and the barage was still coming. Her being a smart filly, she realized why this was happeneing, and started screaming at Luna.
"STOP HURTING HIM! STOP STOP STOOOP!!!"
A large glow illuminated Luna, throwing her off, no force behind the magic, she just sort of plopped to the floor. Celestia stood over her younger sister, horn glowing. "LUNA! YOU HURT HIM!" Luna flinched at these words, she realized what she was doing was wrong, and was frightened at her sisters very harsh words that came after. "I CANNOT BELIEVE YOU WOULD DO THAT! I MEAN," she lowered her voice, looking at her sister cringe. "Who do you think took us in?"
Luna stared sadly, finally realizing what happened here, the misunderstanding made. "Why were you crying like that?" She pushed, wanting to know her sister's troubles. "Celestia..."
"Dad wouldn't let me finish the spell...."
"WHAT??? ALL THAT FOR A SPELL?" screamed Luna. Now it was her turn to be angry. And she was right to feel that way, he sister threw al that for a spell.
"LUNA! don't you understand that I could've made him better, he nearly died, and I could have better pre-" Celestia's rant was silenced by thier adoptive father.
"I don't want to be better than i currently am, I may have only known you all for a three week period, but i'm your father now, and no matter what you do, i'll always love you... and that INCLUDES the whole thing that just happened."
The words spoken hit Luna, Celestia, and Discord with grief. How could they have done that to him after all he'd done for them, they hurt him in exchange for a new home and an exciting new place to explore. Luna started to cry, and Rackus asked to them all. "Children, please, come here, let me hug you, i'd get up myself but.." he laughed.
Luna's horn glowed, and Rackus felt slightly more moble. Rackus managed to stand, and wrapped them all in his forelegs, grasping them tightly. "I will never... EVER... hate the three of you.... and I really hope you will all love each other with the love I have for you....
Discord showered him with apologies, as did Luna and Celestia, all crying with a mixture of joy and sadness. "We're sorry!" Shouted Luna, looking up at him, only to be greeted with a large, white grin, this deepened how bad she felt, he brushed this off like it was nothing. Same as Luna did with this whole adventure.
