Chapter 6: Help with Anything?

“To love is nothing… To be loved is something... To love and be loved is everything.”

Spike was bent over the fence, trying to catch his breath. Does Fluttershy do all of these every single day?! he thought. A bit tired, he could feel his muscles aching. They were telling him to stop. He took a deep breath stretched out his shoulders. “Okay!” he said to himself, “I can do this!!”

With his remaining strength, he finally got the twentieth pair of buckets of water to Fluttershy’s small water silo. He broke a sweat, wiping it from his brow. Spike felt himself rejuvenated from completing a task and was ready to tackle the next one. Thanks to Twilight’s overloading demands of cleaning and housework, the dreaded vicious cycle was being handy.

“C’mon you damn chickens!” Spike said, chasing hens in a small yard. “I need to put all of you in the henhouse!” He tripped on the ground, slamming his face into sweet dirt.

Spike held a list, along with a basket in hand. “Alright, so who gets the fresh veggies, and who gets the chopped leafy greens?” he asked, looking at a herd of animals surrounding him.

Next, he held a shovel and dug it deep into the ground. Using his weight to push down the tool, he got a heave of dirt and piled it on the side. He continued until there was a multiple small holes. With a bucket by his side, Spike began to scoop compost into them. A wretched smell filled his nostrils, causing him to flare them. “Damn, smells nasty,” he muttered to himself.

Fluttershy watched him, peeking out of her cottage. He was muddied, tired, and breathing heavily. She could feel her own mouth water. Something about him was just amazing. Her trance was knocked off when she felt a light tug on her leg.

Angel seemed to be disappointed. “Oh, what is it, Angel bunny?” she asked, grabbing a book next to her. Her broken leg rested on a big pillow, plush and comforted by a stool.

The bunny shook his head and hopped away. Fluttershy blushed and dug her face in the book. I hope nobody saw how I looked like, she thought to herself. From behind the book, Fluttershy peeked out the window. From seeing Spike, she couldn’t help but smile. A grin spread across her face, leaving her to giggle and put the book down in her lap.

Spike blinked before heaving a long sigh. “I think that’s it,” he said, picking mud out from under his fingernails. He dusted his pants off before entering the cottage. Angel took notice of him and turned around. “Hey there,” he said before the bunny made a disgusted face.

He lifted his arms up and sniffed his armpits. Spike gave a shrug. “Smells alright.” He walked up to Fluttershy, who seemed to be unphased by the smell. “I think I finished everything,” he said proudly, emitting a putrid odor.

Fluttershy could smell Spike from across the room, but she was used to foul stenching smells. She nodded. “Yes, you already finished everything I needed to do today.”

“Hmm, really? Great!” he said, pointing back with his thumb, “Let me take a shower and I’ll be right back, okay?”

“W-Wait, Spike,” Fluttershy said, putting both of her hands out.

“Yeah?”

She turned a light shade of red. “You can, um, use the shower here,” she said, “I-If you want to.” She looked away, covering herself with a book.

“Really?” Spike exclaimed excitedly. He gave a bright smile. “I really love your shower here!” Fluttershy didn’t now know to respond to that. “Remember when I slid all the way into the mud pool?” he chuckled, looking back at such a time.

Fluttershy blushed at that memory. It was years ago. When Spike was a kid. It’s just amazing that they grow up so fast… “Well, I’m off!” he said, strutting through the cottage. He left Fluttershy, smiling to herself. “You’re not a kid anymore, Spike,” she whispered.

Princess Celestia, a regal royalty opened her eyes. “Sister, do you feel that malice in the air?”

Her younger sister, Princess Luna replied with a nod. “It’s a sense of dread and trepidation.” The younger princess closed her eyes. “The future seems to be grim, dear sister.”

Princess Celestia was silent. “We shall hope for the best.”

“F-Fluttershy?” Spike’s voice called through the house.

“Hmm, what is it?” she asked, lifting her eyes up from the book.

“I don’t have a towel to dry off myself with,” he said, “or even clothes to wear.”

“Oh, oh…” she said, imagining Spike naked. She could feel her throat close up.

“Yeah, I didn’t think well on this. Is there any towels I can use?” he asked, “I don’t want to walk around here in the nude.”

Secretly to herself, Fluttershy desired it badly. “They’re in the small wardrobe in front of the bathroom,” she said, hearing the door slowly squeak wide. In his birthday suit, he waddled over and grabbed a towel.

“Thanks!” he said before he went back into the steamy room.

Fluttershy was left alone, her thoughts to herself. She continued to fantasize about him, leaving a goofy smile and a red face.

A tall cloaked figure found himself standing in front of a ruined building. Cautiously, he softly knocked on the door. An perpetually upset man by the name of Grimsilver opened the door. “Greetings, Sir Grimsilver,” the tall figure said with a respectful bow.

“Christ, finally,” Grimsilver replied with annoyance. “What’s the news?”

“Due to a few...” the man said before a quick pause, “mishaps, you need to be patient for a few more days. And how is Buffy holding up?”

“Don’t make me start on that bumbling fool. If he was any slower, he would go backwards.”

“May I come in, Sir Grimsilver?” the cloaked man politely asked.

“Yeah, yeah. Come on in,” Grimsilver said, gesturing his hands. “This place is where hogs crawl and live. This place is a filthy rut!”

The cloaked man gently closed the door behind him, taking off the hood on top of his head. “Your spirits seem to high of today, Sir Grimsilver,” he said with a small smile. The man stood tall, but not noticeably. He held soft eyes, but his expression was strong. His posture held order and a sense of a soldier.

Grimsilver gave an exasperated sigh. “I do apologize for my outburst there, Wilhelm. Sleeping and living here for the past week is aggravating. Especially with that thing.”

“Do you mean by Buffy, sir?” Wilhelm asked, reaching towards his side to open a bag.

Grimsilver grumbled and sat down on a worn out sack of hay. He gave a reluctant nod before Wilhelm gave a small smile. “I do not know why you speak so ill of him.”

“He’s been a thorn and a tumor in my side,” Grimsilver said, “He’s obnoxious, loud, and uncouth.”

“Buffy, my dear friend,” Wilhelm said, taking out a greasy bag, “Are you here?”

“Mr. Wilhelm?” Buffy’s slow words came out from the other room. His giant frame walked into the room. A bright smile poured onto his face. “Mr. Wilhelm! It’s good to see ya’!”

“The pleasure is all mine, dear Buffy,” Wilhelm said, shaking the brown greasy bag. “In fact, I heard you were a good boy!”

Grimsilver scoffed and turned away. “No worries, sir,” Wilhelm said, handing the bag to Buffy. The giant’s face lit up and smacked his lips. “Oh, you couldn’t have, Mr. Wilhelm!” “Oh, yes I did, Buffy!” Wilhelm said with a warm smile. He turned towards Grimsilver. “I got you a bag too, sir Grimsilver.” The silver-haired man turned towards him. “Y-You did?”

“Why would I forget you, sir?” Wilhelm said, digging up another greasy bag. “It’s your favorite too. A double-stacked supreme deluxe baconator with potato fries fried in hay oil.”

Buffy dug into his gigantic burger before Grimsilver looked away. Grimsilver gave a ‘hmph’. “Peasant food is not what I usually eat, but this will do.” He reluctantly accepted the bag, feeling the warmth of the junk food.

“Please, eat sir,” Wilhelm said, gesturing with his hands. “Go ahead and eat.”

“Y-You won’t tell anyone, right, Wilhelm?”

“Have I ever told anyone when you trust me with your life, sir?” the gentleman asked, giving a small bow.

“You’re a damn good man. However, dear Wilhelm, how long are you going to stay here?” Grimsilver asked, taking a bite out of his burger. He gave a nod of approval of the taste before Wilhelm spoke. “I am here to stay if it’s your order, sir.” he replied with a small bow.

“Perfect!” Grimsilver said between bites of his burger. He stuffed a few fries in his face before talking again. “Get a bit more information about this ‘Spike’ character. Also, check on Fluttershy.”

“Could you give me a little information to go off of, dear sir?” Wilhelm asked.

“Of course, Wilhelm,” Grimsilver said, almost inaudible from the food in his mouth. “Spike and Fluttershy are residents in this town. Fluttershy is a pink-haired girl and Spike is a green-haired boy.” His voice turned sour with the mention of Spike. “Just walk around town and you’ll know enough.”

“Done and done, dear sir,” Wilhelm replied.

“Good. I love how you don’t ask any questions. That’s what I endear about you.”

“However, sir, I do have a question,” Wilhelm said.

Grimsilver raised an eyebrow. “What?”

“Would you like to pizza for dinner? I heard it’s a quite good dish.” The silver-haired man chuckled. “I also spotted a small sweet shop not too far from here. And I do know you love small pastries.”

“Have I ever told you how much I love you, Wilhelm?” Grimsilver said with a hearty tone.

“I love Mr. Wilhelm more than you, Grimsilver!” Buffy said, already done with his meal.

“Shut it, you waste of space!” he replied venously.

“Fluttershy, is there anything you want for dinner?” Spike asked, dusting his hands off. “I may not look like it, but I can sort of cook.”

“What do you mean by ‘sort of cook’?” she asked, giving a small smile.

“I do my best if you want something, that’s all,” Spike said, adjusting his very tight clothes. “Besides, I have to back to the library and change my clothes.”

“Why don’t you surprise me then?” she asked, putting both of her hands together, “Dinner isn’t in about a few hours anyway.”

Spike gave a quick nod before going out the door. “I’ll be back, Fluttershy!”

Fluttershy gave another smile, imagining Spike as her husband. A husband that would come back home. She giggled to herself with her own little fantasy, leaving her animals puzzled.

Spike took a few steps before lavender magic made a spark next to him. Twilight appeared in distress and panic. “Spike, come with me!!” she exclaimed.

“Okay, bu-”

In an instant, they were gone not too far from Fluttershy’s cottage. They appeared inside of the Golden Oak Library where Twilight held a letter in her hand. She pointed at it. “I received a letter from the princesses!”

“Before you go on that, I have to change my clothes,” Spike said, walking off into his room. Twilight followed after him, still explaining everything.

“I noticed after that Fluttershy was injured, Princess Celestia and Princess Luna notified me immediately something could be happening soon. It probably was a coincidence, but there’s a chance it could be linked,” Twilight said as Spike took off his tight clothing off of himself.

“Are you going to stand there and watch me change?” he asked. “And I thought you were in Canterlot not too long ago.”

“I walked around town and also found that it slightly different than yesterday.”

“I-Isn’t that everyday when something is a little bit different?” Spike asked, putting on undergarments.

“I’m just telling you, Spike!” Twilight said putting both of her hands on his shoulders. “Something might happen in town!”

“If any problems arises, then we solve it together,” Spike said, sliding a shirt on. “Simple as that. Also, I’m going to take a few bits.”

“Good way to think, Spike!” Twilight said, “But-”

However, Spike left the library, leaving her alone without a word. She gave a groan before sulking around.
