Humanity has been stuck in the 2000 year war between the Angelic Overseers and the Demon Horde. The war is being fought over humanity itself. Humans, being able to summon, and in some instances control, both demons and angels, are considered precious and dangerous to both sides of the war. After 1500 years of enduring the war without much interference, humanity begins to fight back as a third and separate party. Humans have been woefully weak against both sides, and they needed tremendous power to join in the fight.

The humans called upon allies lost to time in order to create artifacts of great strength in order to defend themselves. Among these was a set of Elements.

Virtue is something that is achieved by accident or by choice, but it always comes from within. It comes from Mind, Body, and Spirit. All sentient creatures have bits of each part of Virtue, with some leaning towards one more than the other two.

As the war progressed, angels and demons began to fear the human's strength through the artifacts. This fear led the two enemy groups to work together and send the artifacts and the set of Elements of into another world. What the angels and demons didn't know, however, was that humanity would eventually reach that world.
