Despite a week of continuous nightmares, I've slept great. I admit that may come across as strange, and I'm probably as confused as you are. The truth is, no matter how hard I tried, I just couldn't wake up. But that's not why I think these Nightmares are important. Not at all.
Last night I was, or would it have been this afternoon? I'm not sure, but that's what time it was in the dream when it happened. Anyway, I was somewhere in the Everfree forest in Equestria, and I was ambushed by a pack of timberwolves. I outran them, but one of them managed to leave a deep wound in my arm (leg?) before I got away. When I woke up that same wound, in the exact same place, was there.
My arm was caked in dried blood. When I saw that, It took all my strength not to vomit. My parents would tie me down and interrogate me if they saw this. My dad was gone to work already when I woke up, and my mom was still in bed. "Good," I said aloud, too tired to care if my brothers heard me. I went straight to the bathroom so I could clean up my arm. As soon as I walked in the bathroom, I did vomit. Have to clean that up. I told myself. "After my arm."
It was deeper than I thought. I went right to the bone, but somehow didn't touch a single vein. "Weird, gross, and cool. Mostly gross." I didn't notice until just then, but I stuck a finger in the wound, and was touching my own skeleton. I really am a psycho. I went back to my room to grab one of my first aid kits.
My youngest brother was in there, "Wake up, Patrick." I couldn't let him see my arm, he was only four years old. No four-year-old should see their oldest brother’s bones!
"Close your eyes Max." He didn't close his eyes, he turned around. And he saw my arm.
"What did you do to your arm?" I was the third time my dad asked me, and I sill had the same answer.
"I didn't do anything, a dog bit me."
"Why should I believe that?"
I almost rolled my eyes at him, "Because you know I'm smart enough not to do this to myself. Besides, it's almost midnight, shouldn't we get some sleep?"
He seemed to have noticed the clock for the first time that night. He looked back at me, "We'll finish this in the morning."
I looked at my watch, almost three a.m. Perfect timing. I took one last check over what I packed; hooded jacket, check. Some spare changes of clothes, check. Blankets, check. Food, check. First Aid kits, sheck. My list went on for several minutes. I’m all set, time to leave. I just had to make it to the abandoned house at the edge of the neighborhood, and I could stop for the night. The only thing between me and there was an hour's walk. Already three thirty in the morning,I have to get moving. Luckily for me the walk was un eventful, because I needed to find a stable place in the house for rest for the night.
I was still in the Everfree forest. No signs of the timberwolves, that was a good sign. I hope. I need a name. Heck, I don't even know what type of pony I am. I looked at my sides, no wings. No cutie mark either. That would make it harder to blend in, if I ever got out. I felt for a horn, I had one. So I, guess I’m a unicorn. Cool, I have magic. I heard running water. That's when I noticed how thirsty I was. And how hungry. Maybe there'll be some food near where ever the water is.
The water was a stream, a small one at that. I would have to make do with that for now. I dipped my snout into the stream and began to drink. I saw something glinting in the stream. What is that? I limped over to it, I was a fancy black cross. I’m not exactly sure, but maybe it’s even gothic. I'm a unicorn, why not try at magic It took a while, but I finally managed to lift it out of the stream, well mostly. The bottom of the cross stayed in, the rest slide away from it. A dagger? Why is there a dagger in a stream? Dismissing a myriad of possibilities is easier said than done, especially when you have asperger syndrome.
Possibility one: an adventurer died nearby. Possibility two: fate itself wants me to commit suicide. Possibility three: This has something to do with my as of yet undiscovered special talent. And, Possibility four: something wants me to kill somepony.
"It's the last one," said something behind me, "I hope you’re smart enough to do what I want."
I spun around, or tried to at least. All i managed to do was rip the flesh on my injured limb further apart, and collapse in a heap on the ground. Somehow the dagger fell right in front of my face, and didn't even scratch my nose. I looked up to see who, or what, wanted me to kill somepony. I fainted right after I made eye contact.
I woke up in the abandoned house a near unbearable pain in my left arm. "AGH! SHIT THIS HURTS!" After the pain subsided enough for me to think I realized who wanted me to commit murder. "No way. I couldn't have been.” But the more I thought about it the more sense it made. “I wonder who she wants me to kill.”
I need to eat breakfast. I made my way over to my backpack, careful not to step on an unstable places in the floor. My arm felt wet. Almost forgot about my arm. I need to change the bandages on that bite first. My first aid kit was open when I got over to it. Who got in my first aid kit? "Who took my stuff?" The response shocked me, not because of what it was, but because of how I heard it, in my mind.
You don't need it. That voice, it was familiar, but I couldn't quite place it. And then I thought back to last night, in the Everfree forest.
"Now I'm hearing voices, as if I needed to go completely insane."
You're not insane, you're unique.
"Now my insanity is giving me a pep talk, just great." I tried to sound sarcastic, but failed miserably. I almost believed that I was really hearing the same thing that wanted me to kill somepony.
Not somepony, some ONE. Extra emprises on one, definitely not what I expected.
"Are you really that determined for me to commit murder for you?"
You're more worried about me wanting you to kill someone than how I'm communicating with you?
"I'm just going to dismiss my whole life as a bad dream, and hope I wake up in an insane asylum."
That can be arranged.
"Is that a threat? I'm not sure you could actually make that happen."
You'd be surprised how many agents I have in both worlds.
"Just tell me who you want dead so I can get back to my life."
I don't know who it is yet, YOU need to find that out.
"Could you explain that?" I thought of a detail that might make it easier for me. "And can it wait till after I eat?"
I finished eating, but me breakfast wasn't very filling. Not that I expected peanut butter and crackers would be filling. "So, mind telling me what you want me to do now? Or would you like for me to guess?"
How would you even be able to guess?
"For a start, I know who you are. I also know a few ponies you might be holding a grudge against."
Prove it.
"Your name is Chrysalis, and you're the queen of the changelings. You tried to conquer Equestria be disguising as Princess Cadence so you could exert mind-control over Shining Armor, who was creating the magical barrier that was keeping every changing other then yourself out of Canterlot. You were discovered and managed to overpower princess Celestia, only to be defeated by Shining Armor when the real princess Cadence broke you mind control over him."
I'm impressed by how much you know. Maybe you'll be able to do this more easily than I thought.
"How about you explain what you want me to do now?"
I want you, no, I'm ordering you-
"No."
What?
"No. I don't take orders from anyone. I'll do this for pay."
Maybe this will make you take orders. Before I knew what was happening, my whole body was racked in pain.
"AGH! SHIT! STOP!"
Will you take orders?
"YES! JUST MAKE IT STOP!" The pain faded immediately. "Okay... Okay. What do you want?"
Princess Celestia is interfering in your world's politics. I want you to stop her.
"Seems like I have more to gain from this then you. What do you have to gain from me stopping her?"
That will be apparent as soon as you finish.
"Who are you talking to?" The voice came from behind me.
"What are you doing spying on me?" I tried to sound annoyed, but I'm not sure if it worked.
"Answer my question first."
Kill him. The dagger you found is in your bag. I got up and walked towards my bag.
"I'm just talking to myself."
"That's not what it sounded like." I got to my bag.
"What did sound like?" I opened my backpack and reached inside.
"It sounded like you were planning a murder with someone." I grabbed the dagger.
"I was. With the voices." I waited on his reply, maybe he'd run and I wouldn't have to kill him.
"The voices..." he sounded confused, then he realived what I was hinting at. "Stay away from me you nut job." He didn't run. I spun around and threw the dagger. It hit him square in the heart.
"Crazy isn't contagious, asshole."
Now I’m sure I picked the right person for this.
"Sheer dumb luck that I even hit him."
The dagger is enchanted to never miss when thrown.
"I tried to miss you know."
I told you to kill him. Why would you try to miss?
"No need to kill everyone who sees me."
Why would you think that?
"You wanted an assassin, not a psychopath."
