Chapter 1: Meeting the past.

Deep orange clouds fill the sky, and the quiet but peaceful darkness comes to an end. Birds start to chirp as always, and busy Ponies awake to settle on in another busy day. Fluttershy, who was first to get up before her animals, quietly made her way downstairs to get herself something before taking care of her animals. This was her daily routine. Wake up, eat, feed the animals, care for them, go to sleep. Fluttershy wondered if she gets out more than usual, but she's never that kind of person to just stand around while many others walk, and possibly stare at her.

It has been a year since Twilight's coronation, and since that day she has been very busy. Sometimes she never see's Twilight during the day... She sometimes wonder how Twilight's family is, and how she got to be princess. She's not saying she's jealous or anything, it's just ironic that Twilight became princess... She wonders about this, and not knowing that her pet cat's bowl is being overflowed with food. Coming back to her senses, she stops and apologizes. Maybe she needs a break... Fluttershy steps out her cottage and into Ponyville. She breathes in the fresh air while walking, and plus she's a little bit comfortable since there isn't many ponies around yet. 'It is early', thought Fluttershy. As she was walking, she saw a little nest in a nearby tree. She walk up to the tree, and spots two birds with there chicks. She watches an awe when the mother feed her chicks, and the dad finding more food...

That was what she thought the male bird was going to do, instead, she spots the male bird flying towards the ground. Now realizing what he was doing, she walks to the bird, and in front of him was an injured baby squirrel. "What... What happened to you?!" silently shouting like she always does. The squirrel shows Fluttershy it's injured hand. "That should be no problem." She said that, but didn't have anything on her, except for one bandage. She wraps the bandage around the Squirrel's hand, and it squeaks happily. "Your very welcome. Can you show me where you stay?" The squirrel gets up, and starts running. Fluttershy follows after.

Coming to a stop, she realizes that the squirrel went into a small bush. "But... That leads to the Everfree Forest..." Getting freaked out, she takes the chance. "For the Squirrel!" She crawls in the bushes. Right when she crawled in the bush, she noticed something different. The Everfree wasn't this bright, and it isn't as eerie as it looked. She could hear animals making lots of noise, and animals that she new. She wondered happened to all the creepy trees and the scary sounds coming from deep within the forest. It almost felt peaceful. She spots the squirrel in the distance, and continues to follow it. Finally, she reaches a tree with another squirrel looking down. The baby squirrel hugs her mother, and the mother squeaks a thank you to Fluttershy, as she and her baby walks away. Fluttershy smiles for a sec, then frowns when she is now alone. She also needs to figure out how to get out of here. She walks to a bush to try and see if this is the way out, not noticing a small crack emerging from under. She stops next to the bush, and crawls under. getting stuck by hanging branches and thorns, she stop, and feels a gust of air drawing near. She takes one last step, and the ground caves in...

She slides down the hill, and into a patch of trees. Now she really doesn't know where she is. So, she decided to scream, "AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!" A flash of red flew in the sky, making Fluttershy fall silent. She was going to yell out Rainbow Dash's name, but stopped as she remembered that Rainbow Dash has only a hint of red, and this one was red all over. She was freaking out, but the only way to get out of here is to find help. So, thinking of this idea, she bravely goes the direction the unknown figure flew towards. Reaching the clearing, she spots the unknown pony. "...Such big wings...The only ones who have wings as big as those are..." She stops, almost screams, but silently squeals. "Is he a dragon? but dragons are not our size... Maybe he's not a dragon..." The unknown figure's ears perk up, it can hear her. "...Ok maybe I should leave..!" CRACKLE. The sound of a leaf being stepped on gave off her hiding spot. She tries to run, but instead trips on a fallen branch.

The unknown figure turns around, and walks to where Fluttershy is. Panicking, she tries to get up. Seeing the bushes being pushed away, she stops. He stops, and both of them stare into each other's eyes. 'He... Has pretty eyes...' She thought in her mind, but forgets about it when trying to get up. "...Do you need any help..? She stops. The tone in his voice is soft, so she shakes her head, nodding a yes. He offers his hoof, and she takes it, getting up. She trips a little, but regains her balance. He smiles, "Did you... Just wonder in here? That's kinda unlikely for anyone to do that..." She wonders about that for a bit, before catching herself from turning red, so, she looked away. He keeps going, " I haven't seen anyone like you here before, and I'm surprised you knew this place was here..." He looks at her, and see's that she was looking away. Smiling, then says, "My name's Relic... I live in this forest... What's your name? Finally looking at him, she somewhat gets the courage to say her name, but in the most quietest tone, to where no one would hear. "I'm...Fluttershy..." "Hello Fluttershy, it's nice to meet you." She pauses. 'He heard me?!' This is the first time anyone has ever heard me in this tone!' She thought, but smiles a bit. "So, want to go for a walk Fluttershy?" He seems harmless. Getting the courage to speak loudly, she mutters, "Um...Sure..." Relic turns around and leads the way. Before following him, she finally answers herself, 'I don't think I'm in the Everfree Forest... But this pony, Relic, how come I've never heard of him, if he lives here..? She leaves that in thought as she follows along...

           "So, where did you come from?" He soon asks, breaking the silence. "I've... Come from Ponyville..." She is now talking to where someone can actually hear her. He walks slower than usual, and Fluttershy thinks that he must be deep in thought. "Pony...Ville? What's there?" Now that really caught her off guard. "You... Never heard of PonyVille? it's one of the places where Ponies live in harmony." She somewhat bumps into him because of how fast she was walking, but also wanted to ask him something. "Have you heard of Canterlot? that's where the Princess is." He looks at her. "I've never heard of Canterlot either." Something's up. "What about the Crystal Kingdom? Or Phillydelphia? Or..." She stops talking. Relic nods a no. "Have you heard of anything?" He stops walking. He knew where this conversation was going. "I was here all my life, never to see the outside world. At one point I thought I was the only one in this world, but you proved me wrong." Now she was confused. How could somepony be in one place all his life, and not knowing the outside world? He must know something. He laughs, then says, "It may sound hard to believe, but it's true." "But why?" She quickly answers, now fully talking. "Why didn't you ever come out? Equestria is a huge place, and you just been here? Am I... The first pony you ever talked to?" She had to say that, because he was making it sound like it. Relic stares at her, and Fluttershy looks away, finally he says, "Yes. You are the first." She couldn't believe what she was hearing. that's impossible, he is so close to Ponyville, yet he hasn't heard anything? The forest is dense though, but something like that isn't the problem. Fluttershy tries to process this in her mind, but that will only make her brain hurt. That means... He has a lot to catch up with, and Fluttershy might be able to help him.

Twilight wonders in Ponyville, looking confused as ever. As she continues to walk, she spots Applejack at her stand with Applebloom. "Applejack!" the other mare spots Twilight. "Twilight. How you doing? finally taking a break?" Twilight laughs, "Yea, I am. I'm finally done sending in my morning report to Princess Celestia, so I just wanted to relax for a bit, but I can't help wondering." Applejack leaves the stand and goes to her. "What's on your mind?" " Have you seen Fluttershy around? I tried knocking at her cottage, but Angel came at the door, meaning that she wasn't there. I haven't even seen her today. Have you?" "Sorry Twilight, me and Applebloom haven't seen her at all either. I know it sounds strange, but maybe Fluttershy went somewhere to see some more animals. It's not like her to just disappear like that." Twilight thinks for a moment. 'She's right, Fluttershy wouldn't do that. But I can't help but wonder, why did she leave, but never tell us?' That thought played in her mind, but decided to let it go. "Alright. Thanks Applejack! Good luck selling your apples." They both wave a goodbye...

"Who is this Princess Celestia?" Fluttershy looks at Relic, and thinks about his question. "She's the most kind Princess ever. She is the one who brings us the Sun, along with her sister, Princess Luna, who brings us the Moon." He stares. "They control the sky?" She chuckles, "Just the Sun and Moon. They are Alicorns." "And What are Alicorns?" "Ponies with wings and a horn. There the most powerful in all of Equestria. There the ones who posses great power, and have all types of magic..." She starts laughing, and Relic chuckles along with her. "What?" Fluttershy stops and says, "You remind me of a filly. They ask a lot of questions about everything. But that's not a problem, seeing as though you've been here, and can't get out." Relic smiles a bright smile. She does the same, but suddenly stops when she looks at two chains on his left back leg. She didn't even noticed something so easy to spot, in fact, she didn't really get his appearance. She looks at him. His hair is rose red. It's not to long, but medium length. His wings are bigger than Princess Celestias, and this might sound strange, but he has sharp teeth for a pony. He's different in way Fluttershy can explain, but maybe she will find more about him later. She heard what Relic was saying, but couldn't comprehend, she was daydreaming. "Fluttershy? You there?" She squeals, "Sorry! I was kinda thinking about something... Anyways, what were you saying?" He looks in a different direction. "Can you tell me about this Crystal Empire?" Yep, she knew she was going to be talking for a long time, so, she starts off, knowing that he would ask about something else.

The sun was setting in Ponyville. Everyone's day was almost coming to a close. On a single cloud, all but one Pegasus naps. Rainbow Dash had a busy day clearing the clouds for the night, during the time, she expected Fluttershy to come and watch, but the her disappointment, she wasn't around. She hasn't seen her since yesterday, not that she's really worried. Fluttershy's just really busy with her animals, so maybe she doesn't have time for us. Her eye's open, and she realizes that, although Rainbow Dash hasn't her, she never went to her cottage...

coming to Fluttershy's door, she begins to knock, but hears someone calling her name in the distance. "Rainbow Dash? What are you doing?" "Hey Twilight. Did you see Fluttershy today? She usually see's me clearing the clouds, but It seems as though she's not around." Twilight sighs. "So she's still not back. I haven't seen her all day today. I'm getting kinda worried. She's never out all day." Rainbow Dash thinks about that, then says, "She's probably busy, or just hanging somewhere, besides, it's getting dark, and you know she come's home after dark. So don't worry about it." She pats Twilight on the shoulder, and flies off. 'Maybe she's right, she could just be hanging around...' She thinks about that last thought before flying off...

"I didn't know you can have so much fun here!" She blurts out while laughing. Hours earlier she was telling Relic about the many places of Equestria, and then, about herself. She talked about where she came from, which was Cloudsdale, and how she got her cutie mark. He seems intrigued by her cutie mark story, because he was around animals, but never understood what they were saying. She also told him how she was bullied throughout the time. Since it was getting emotional, Relic told about his time in the forest. So far she seemed to like his stories. But something cam to her mind. "I know you been here all your life, but did you get lonely sometimes, since you are the only one here?" He was looking at a river bank until Fluttershy had asked that question. He looks at her and says, "Well, no. I had the animals, whom I didn't understand, to keep me company. I never knew anything was out here until you showed up..." He smiles, knowing that he is not the only one anymore. Fluttershy does the same, then looks at the sky. Not realizing the skies colors, she says, "How long have I been here?" Relic looks up to, and see's the evening skies. "Since this morning. It's about to get dark in some hours." Then it hit her, she is never out when it's dark, especially if she was in a forest. "I... Should go now, i'm not really a fan of the dark..." She gets up, but stops when she hears Relic Busting out laughing at what she just said. "W - what? Things come out at night, and you don't know what's going to happen... Would you mind... Showing me the way back?" He stops laughing and gets up, going behind her. "Sure, c'mon..."

"Today was fun, Relic. I haven't laughed like this in a while." She adds while walking. "Yea, it was the best time for me as well." What he meant was, it was the best time he had with another pony. He trails off, and Fluttershy notices. "What's the matter?" He stops and looks at her while she stops. "...Will you come back? Someday?" "Of course!" She quickly says. "I can't just leave you for a day, then never coming back. I promise I will come back tomorrow morning. I'll bring something too... Okay?" This made him happy, to actually have a friend. He thanks her, but says. "This is where I stop. If you keep going, you will be out..." She turns to him, sad, "Can you come out?" He sighs. "I wish I could, but..." He lifts his hoof, and touches an invisible dome. "You can come in and out, but I'm stuck here..." Amazed, Fluttershy tries to touch it, but to no avail. "I'm sorry Relic." "It's not your fault, I guess I'm just destined to be in here." With a smile he adds, "See you tomorrow?" She was feeling bad for him, but the looking on Relic's face made her just a bit happy. "Yes, I will see you tomorrow." She walks off without him. "What will you bring me?" Relic says. "It's a secret!" She yells, then runs off, laughing and waving goodbye...

Walking near her cottage, she can hear her friend Twilight running towards her, yelling her name. "Hello Twilight, how are you?" "Where have you been? I didn't see you all day! You walked off without saying anything..." Twilight yells but quiets down. Fluttershy smiles at her friend. "I'm sorry. I just got caught up in something, and I met a new friend who lives in a forest. His name is Relic, and he's really amazing." Twilight arches a brow. "Relic?" "Yeah. We was talking all day about Equestria and laughing about his stories. You should meet him one day. Twilight can tell that she was having fun, and that's all she needed to calm her down. "Well, ok. At least you had some time with your new friend, but just tell us next time before disappearing." Fluttershy nods a yes. "I will. Goodnight Twilight." "Goodnight" She closes the door, and Twilight walks away, feeling tired from today's work. Fluttershy goes into her bedroom, and looks out her window, looking at the direction where she came from meeting Relic. "He's an interesting person... But I forgot to mention. What were those chains in his leg, and why is he stuck in there? It's like a prison. Did he do anything? Well he doesn't know anything so maybe not. Feeling tired, she climbs in her bed, waiting for the next day to arrive... So she can meet Relic...
