//-------------------------------------------------------// A Mare's Derpy Travels -by ThatFangirlDerpy- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Prologue //-------------------------------------------------------// Prologue It was quite a few years ago. Derpy Hooves was sitting in her yard, rather late at night. She'd promised her mother to be inside in fifteen minutes. She played with her toys, not wanting to clean them up. With a yawn, she said to herself, "Maybe I should go inside." Whirrrrrrrrr..... The filly's ears twitched at this odd sound. Sounded like something flying. Her hearing was above average due to her eyesight. However, she was able to make something out in the distance. Something blue. And it was headed straight towards her. The moment she noticed this, Derpy dived behind some bushes and watched the blue thing crash into a tree trunk. It seemed so small, and why was it flying? She slowly crawled out of the bushes and knocked on the doors to the blue telephone box.  A tall, brown stallion opened the door and smiled down on the young filly. "'Ello there!" the stallion smiled. Derpy just waved, unsure of how to react. Her mother always told her not to talk to strangers. "Do you happen to have something to eat? I'm starving." the stallion asked. "Uhm," Derpy pulled out a bag of carrot sticks that she'd been eating. The stallion's face lit up. "Carrots! Lovely!" He took the bag and munched on a carrot stick. "Ah, it's nice to take a break from listening to 'EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE!' all day long. What's your name?" "I'm Derpy Hooves," Derpy spoke quietly, unsure whether she should have told the stallion her name or not. "What a unique name! I like it! Now, Miss Hooves, let me give you a piece of advice. When you see a Weeping Alicorn statue, don't you dare look away. Don't even blink." Derpy nodded. "Alrighty, I'll see you in the future, quite possibly!" the stallion climbed back into the telephone box, and it disappeared, just like that. Mrs. Hooves trotted outside. "Derpy, honey, time to go to bed." "Okay, mommy, but can we bake tomorrow?" The filly looked up at her mother and focused her eyes. "Baking? Well, okay," her mother smiled, carrying her inside. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ever since then, Derpy Hooves developed a passion for baking and even had her own method. Taking a whisk in her hooves, she repeated to herself, "Eggs, stir, milk, bake. Eggs, stir, milk, bake." The result was perfect every time. Miss Hooves, now seventeen, has moved out and gotten a job as a part time mailmare, and opened a bakery to keep herself from making too little money. She really enjoyed what she did, but ponies would still talk about her eyes behind her back. She had a best friend, Carrot Top, who would sometimes help her navigate around Ponyville. Other than Carrot Top, though, she never had many real friends. She still had a pretty happy life, but something felt missing. Something big. Something blue. One day, though, the missing thing came back to her. And so did her fillyhood.
