After initial resistance she slowly opened her eyes and welcomed the cozy, warm feeling of the sun mildly stroking her muzzle. The birds living in the treetop of Golden Oak’s library let an harmoniously sound echo through the young couple’s bedroom, letting it feel to the unicorn like everything in the world was perfectly in order. Stretching out in the bed and shifting her position, one of Twilight’s hooves met some familiar soft plumage at her side, then a blue hoof which usually was wrapped around her chest, and after some groping finally what she actually was looking for. Turning away from the rising sun and rolling over to her other side, she wrapped her hoof around her marefriend’s body and slowly let her muzzle down again which a few moments later smoothly met Rainbow’s chest, like it did on every other perfect morning. With a quick movement the unicorn let her other hoof feel behind her ear to ensure that the blue feather of the mare she loved was still placed there. According to old traditions, it was the most powerful gesture of affection and the most precious gift a pegasus could possibly give and Twilight was well aware of that. Knowing how much it meant, she would take great care of it. Salvaging Rainbow Dash’s slowly fading unique scent, a slightly depressed sigh made its way up the unicorn’s throat. The breath escaping her mouth gently stroked the soft blue fur of the mare she loved, letting its hairs move like fine blades of grass in a mild summer breeze. She was well aware that at some point, she would have to let go of the most precious pony in her life, but there was no way she was ready yet to do so. There was no possibility that she could stand up and plant her hooves on the ground as long as she could  keep burying her snout into the comfortable feeling chest of the mare who meant more than her own life to her, even if Rainbow Dash’s blue fuzzy body wasn’t warm like Twilight was used to. A little more than two days have passed since the blue pegasus’ chest stopped smoothly moving up and down. After years of sickness, fears and pains, Rainbow Dash finally had it behind. However, even if she knew for quite some time that the day would eventually come much too early, but Twilight wasn’t prepared for it. Letting her hoof wander to Rainbow’s face and gently stroking her marefriend’s cheek, she looked deep into the slightly opened eyes she loved so much. Even if those magenta orbs were dull and lifeless now, they still were the most beautiful thing she could have possibly imagine. Considering the broad smile the pegasus was carrying on her pale face, a little smile started growing on Twilight’s muzzle at the same time hot tears of sorrow and desperation were streaming down her cheeks and burning narrow lanes in them before they would leave the unicorn’s snout and finally meet Rainbow’s face. Even if certainly some time would pass until she would perhaps be able to overcome the grief and pain she was feeling in that moment, knowing that the mare she loved of the whole heart was nothing else than happy and had no regrets in her last breaths meant a lot of salvation to her. Not enough to eventually overcome the overwhelming terror she was feeling still continuously growing deep inside her though. A fresh summer breeze entered by the opened window and brushed through the room, making the blue feather which was plugged behind Twilight’s ear playfully dance in its wind, playfully moving back and forth tickling her cheek and nose. A pleased sigh escaped Twilight’s lips and she decided to stay in the fluffy bed, being cuddled by the mare she loved, for a little longer at least. Rainbow Dash would forever be a part of her life, no matter how many years would pass, and as long as she had the possibility to be at her marefriend’s side, there was no need to rush things. //-------------------------------------------------------// #2: Medicine [Romance/Slice of Life] //-------------------------------------------------------// 2: Medicine [Romance/Slice of Life] ==================================== The Prompt (by seven-eleven (http://www.fimfiction.net/user/Seven-Eleven) [@Livestream]): "Rainbow Dash needs medicine" Medicine “Oh come on Rainbow, I’m so tired of this!” Twilight groaned in annoyance as the thick liquid drenched her coat and the spoon fell to the ground making a clanking noise again. It wasn’t her first attempt and wouldn’t be her last one trying to give her marefriend the most awful tasting medicine Equestrian pharmacologists have ever developed. As if having a certain sick pegasus to take care of at home wasn’t challenging enough, she also had to ensure that Rainbow Dash would take the remedy at least once a day, no matter what. However she couldn’t overcome herself to use any kind of physical force on her poorly sick marefriend, at least not up to that point. “Please, please, please!” She begged while using her magic to carefully fill the surface of the spoon with some of the thick liquid again. “It’s not that I want to compel you taking it, but you have to!” She almost desperately supplemented, letting the spoon levitate between her and Rainbow’s muzzles, giving the pegasus the most hopeful and promising of all looks. “I’m not gonna’ take this in my mouth! I did it once and I’ll never do it again,” The blue mare responded with determination in her voice, knocking away the incoming spoon with one of her hooves, making it fall to the ground again. “I mean, y’know that I would do anything for ya Twi, but have you ever tasted this stuff?” Rainbow added to her movement with some remorse in her tone, wildly gesturing with her hooves like she always did when feeling pushed into a corner because she knew that Twilight was right and her own acting was wrong. She was nothing else than sorry about her own strong self-defense mechanism and would have loved nothing more than satisfying the unicorn with being a good mare who takes her medicine without objection. However the taste of the thick liquid, the only affordable medicine that was available for the rare illness she was suffering from, was, to put it simply, indescribably disgusting, probably tasting worse than the backside of a mule’s ear if the mule hasn’t washed itself for three weeks at least. “Okay Rainbow, let’s take a break from this and try again later. I’ll go down into the kitchen and get you some tea and crackers,” Twilight said with a still calm and soft voice, carrying a smile on her snout. A few moments later, she left the room with a slightly frustrated sigh escaping her lips. As soon as her marefriend had closed the door behind her, Rainbow Dash let herself fall back onto the fluffy pillow, moaning in annoyance and hating herself for being such a jerk. Twilight was always so patient and kind to her, trying her best to ensure her comfort and help her regaining her health, and all she did was complaining and spitting ugly medicine on the unicorn. Thoughts about how clumsy and rude her behavior was started occupying her mind and all she wished for was to finally be able to overcome herself and just swallow the fluid, however the mere thought about its taste alone was more than enough to make her retch and nearly vomit. Tears of sorrows and guilt were already gathering in the corners of her eyes as all of a sudden the door swung open revealing the mare she loved levitating a box of Rainbow’s favorite crackers and a cup of freshly boiled tea in front of her. Not knowing what to say since giving excuses - not made-up ones, but real excuses - wasn’t one of her strengths; she looked at the blanket in embarrassment when she suddenly perceived the very familiar softness of two hooves on her cheeks which made her look up into Twilight’s concerned violet sparkling orbs. She had no idea for what reason she deserved the sudden consolation, just that her illness wasn’t contagious and therefore there was no risk for her to accidentally infect Twilight with it, so she closed her eyes and gently leaned into a quite affectionate and desirous kiss. Joining the wild dance of the lips and tenderly playing with her marefriend’s tongue, she suddenly perceived a strange and bitter taste occupying her mouth which she usually would have tried to spit out at any costs. However, the love Twilight gave to her, the smoothness the unicorn let her feel with every little movement, was far too agreeable to break the kiss for any reason. After she had ensured that the pegasus had swallowed down all of the liquid, Twilight slowly dissolved the kiss and looked deep into two beautiful shimmering magenta orbs. “Now, was taking your medicine really that bad?” She asked with a wide smile on her muzzle, gently stroking through the other mare’s rainbow-colored mane and playfully flicking her tail. “No... it even was kind of enjoyable,” Rainbow Dash happily returned slightly blushing with an even broader smile on her face than Twilight’s and let herself sink into the pillow again, dragging the unicorn along with her. //-------------------------------------------------------// #3: Never [Romance/Sad] //-------------------------------------------------------// 3: Never [Romance/Sad] ======================= (The Prompt (by Lucrious from IRC #MLP@quakenet [45 minutes]): "Rainbow Dash is falling") Never The evening sun was gently penetrating the clouds high above Sweet Apple Acres and met determined magenta eyes as some blue feathers were playfully dancing in the wind.  It was a nice, warm day, almost no wind was blowing and the small air currents were soft and optimal for any kind of flying – it was the perfect day for attempting the eightfold-double-spin-loop-sonic-rainboom. Still, something felt... off. In fact, it didn’t feel right at all. A startled voice coming from the hot air balloon floating a few meters above the sky blue pegasus shouted out her name. All of a sudden the familiar voice seemed to change into an echo and move away quickly as a strong sensation hit the her chest and made her body feel numb while the world was slowly losing its color. What happened? Where am I? Am I flying? Why is the air feeling so cold all of a sudden? A threatening growl displaced the peaceful silence, that loud that even two princesses far away in Canterlot spilled their afternoon tea in fright. Still, Rainbow Dash didn’t take note of it. Her ears seemed to shut as her view steadily turned to black. Why are my eyelids so heavy?  I’m falling, aren’t I? Why am I falling? The pegasus’ body was motionless and without perceiving it she was falling, faster than probably ever before, passing the clouds with rapidly increasing speed. It was like a dream to her as memories about her foalhood, her time at flight school and finally her time in Ponyville started crossing her mind, like a movie featuring the most precious moments of her entire life played in front of her dull eyes. She could clearly remember how she met and became friends with Fluttershy back at flight school, how she earned her cutie mark by pulling off her first sonic rainboom, how she become acquainted with all of her other friends and how she even confessed love to one of them. It may have been a short, but it was for sure a perfect life she lived. If she could, she wouldn’t change a single thing. Except for falling of course. “Rainbow Dash!” There was that voice again, the same one from the hot air balloon wasn’t it? It’s certainly familiar to me, but who does it belong to? More memories were suddenly rushing her mind as she envisioned her travel to Canterlot earlier this year. It was for a special occasion and also the first time she and her marefriend went officially into public as a couple. She remembered how happy she was when her very special somepony introduced her as her partner and also how everypony else was happy for both of them. It was the most magical night of her life. A hoof desperately tried to grab one of hers, but instantly slipped away again. What was that warm feeling I just felt for a second? She remembered the day princess Celestia visited the couple a few weeks before. It was uncommon for royalty to meet somepony on a private matter and even more if she took the long way from Canterlot to Ponyville just to do so. Even if Rainbow Dash was able to keep it secret from her marefriend as it was thought as a surprise for her birthday the following month, the princess had comprehended what was going on – the fact that there was a new life growing inside the pegasus’ body – within a few minutes and gave her a royal promise to not reveal it. This time however, the foreign hoof got a hold on Rainbow Dash and pulled the blue pegasus close into a soft embrace. There it is again, this warm feeling of security, soothing my mind as it spreads through my entire body. All of a sudden the film which was playing all the memories of her life was torn apart. There was no need for Rainbow Dash to lazily watch her life fade away as long as she could regain control of it. If it would have stopped at that very moment, there would’ve been too many things left unfinished. She was opposed to leave everything... everypony... one special pony... behind just like this. There was no way she would let that happen. “Rainbow...,” the quivering and sad voice said her name once more. It’s close. Very Close. And It certainly called my name. I feel my weariness slowly going away. Rainbow Dash slowly reopened her eyes, which as she did so, met violet sparkling ones. Tears were running down from the corners of those beautiful orbs, but were instantly carried away by the strong wind. “What are you...?” Rainbow Dash wanted to ask her marefriend what she thought that she was doing and why she jumped off the balloon, but at the same time realized that she did so because of her. Amazed by the unicorn’s courage and the risk the other mare took just to be there for her, she wasn’t able to find any more phrases. There was no way that words could possibly describe her emotions. “I came for you, Rainbow,” the loving voice broke the silence again, “To be with you.” “But... why do you risk your life... if I can’t... we‘re both...” In the sudden panic that overcame her and in want to comprehend the other mare’s action, she tried to formulate a sentence, however was shushed in an instant by a lavender hoof that with a gentle and swift movement was placed on her quivering lips. Within a blink of an eye, the other mare’s expression completely changed. The tears stopped streaming from her eyes and all the sadness and worries were gone as a wide and relaxed smile suddenly replaced the frown on her muzzle. “You wouldn’t let me fall, would you?” the unicorn trustfully asked while she put her hoof around Rainbow Dash again and tightened the embrace pressing herself against the mare she loved. “Never...” Rainbow Dash responded after a few seconds with a convincing determination as the blur in her eyes faded away. Raking together all of her focus and remaining strength, the blue pegasus spread out her numb wings and started beating them in haste, resulting in wild and uncoordinated appearing movements. Uncertain if what she was doing was actually right, doubting her very own flying skills, she deeply looked into the other mares violet sparkling orbs which were filled with nothing but faith. She had no choice, there was no permission she could give herself to fail, not with nothing less than her beloved marefriend’s life being at stake. Pulling herself together and focusing on each single muscle of her wings, she called her first days in flight school back to her mind and started flapping again. With all her remaining strength she beat her wings like never before, this time clearly able to account that her movements worked; that she obtained grip using the air currents and was able to slow down the fall with every little motion. A few seconds later, as the couple were just a few meters above the ground, Rainbow Dash managed to regain complete control of the situation and slowly leaded both of them to the ground, carefully setting Twilight down in front of her. After having verified that the unicorn was unharmed, a relieved sigh made its way up through the pegasus’ throat. Considering her marefriend’s beautiful gleaming, but at the same time horrified eyes, Rainbow Dash looked down her own body and realized that she in fact was severely injured. With the knowledge that something else precious was most certainly lost, the world suddenly started to fade to black. //-------------------------------------------------------// #4: Horror Movie [Romance/Slice of Life/Comedy] //-------------------------------------------------------// 4: Horror Movie [Romance/Slice of Life/Comedy] =============================================== (The Prompt (by anonymous): Twilight and Rainbow Dash are watching a horror movie) Horror Movie Five teenage ponies went on a camping trip to the dark side of the Everfree Forest, ending up running for their lives being chased by an insane stallion wearing a scary hockey mask and weilding a rusty and incredibly noisy chainsaw. After a quite long run it just seemed like they finally managed to escape their pursuer when all of a sudden, accompanied by a very dramatic sound effect, the murdurous earth pony unexpectedly rose behind one of the teenage mares, stabbed her through her back and out her belly and ripped her open. Twilight gasped in shock, and would most certainly have screamed if her voice wouldn’t suddenly have been stuck in her throat, and pressed her face against the shoulder of the mare she loved.  With an uneasy expression on her snout and timorously shaking eyes, her unsettled glances searched for her marefriend's soothing magenta orbs. “Awww, c’mon Twi, it’s not that bad, is it?” Rainbow Dash whispered comfortingly into one of the unicorn’s flat lying ears, gently wrapping a hoof and a warm and comfortable wing around her terrified marefriend. “I mean it’s just a movie. It’s not likely something like that would ever happen in Ponyville,” she sincerely commented, her eyes still fixed upon the violent action taking place right in front of the couple as she took the straw in her mouth and continued to sip on her soda. “Even if we are living pretty close to the Everfree...” The pegasus said after a few seconds with a mischievous grin on her muzzle, still sipping the beverage, trying to make a serious and thoughtful expression, or at least avoiding from breaking out in loud laughter. “That’s not funny Rainbow, I’m really scared!” Twilight wailed in a quivering voice, clasping her marefriend’s hoof and burying her snout even deeper in the daredevil’s blue shoulder. “Why am I even watching this with you?” She whimpered, barely able to glance at the screen. “Because it’s my turn to pick a movie tonight,” Rainbow Dash almost humourlessly responded with an understanding, but at the same time slightly annoyed tone, pulling the unicorn a bit closer, gently nuzzling her mane and offering her some  popcorn. “I also watched that slushy romance movie with ya’ and didn’t complain about it, didn’t I?” She pointed out after a few moments, then took a big slurp of her drink again. “That’s something completely different!” Twilight protested sharply, tears reflecting the horror she felt gathering in the corners of her eyes as the head of one of the teenage ponies got chopped off. “It wasn’t something that incredibly terrified you. I mean, I probably won’t be able to sleep tonight!” The unicorn added to her statement, underpinning it with another wince as the stallion waved his chainsaw again, making another mare’s neck yield under the raw force of the rusty tool. Even if she didn’t dare to look at the display anymore, she still was able to hear the terrified screams and insane laughter coming from the television was more than enough to make her whole body tremble in fear. “And besides...,” Twilight hesitantly continued as her shock slowly wore off “...you were complaining the whole time, starting with the opening scene and you didn’t stop until the whole movie was over,” she said with a reproachful tone in her voice, clinging even more to the pegasus’ hoof. “I wasn’t complaining, I was commenting,” the blue mare retorted dryly, giving Twilight a soft kiss on the forehead. “And if you really can’t go to sleep tonight, I’m sure we’ll find another kind of activity you can enjoy,” She seductively whispered in the unicorn’s ear in front of her muzzle while playfully flicking her tail and pulling the other mare even closer just before she gave her a real kiss. When their affectionate and desirous dance of tongues broke away again, Twilight unexpectedly felt bad, however not for what she actually said, but for what would come next. Still, the plan was set and after all the harrowing movie scenes she had to endure the past two hours there was no resigning from it. Inviting the sky blue pegasus into another tender kiss to ensure that she had Rainbow Dash’s full attention, she gave a little sign with the hoof she had wrapped around her marefriend and just a few moments later, three fillies wearing scary hockey masks like the insane stallion in the movie jumped up in front of the couple, making clamorous and horrifying noises they rehearsed for days. As she caught sight of the creepy creatures standing right in front of her at the same time the slaughterer in the movie killed the last survivor of the small group, Rainbow Dash’s heart jumped. Shrieking in terror, she forgot about anything else, jumped up from the couch and dashed off like lightning. However, her panicked attempt to escape the alleged monsters resulted in nothing else than her snout hitting the sturdy wall besides the library’s wooden door. The blunt sound of the pegasus crashing against the paneling echoing through the library was followed by a wild laugher coming from the other side of the room. “That was Scoots and the gang, right?” Rainbow Dash asked through wood after a few seconds with her face deeply buried in the wall and her wings slightly twitching as the pain from the quite hard impact was slowly making its way through her body. “Yep!” Twilight happily confirmed her marefriend’s assumption with a giggle and a wide smile on her muzzle after she had made sure that the other mare wasn’t actually injured before she turned towards the dressed up ponies. “Thank you girls, you did a really awesome job,” she smirked in satisfaction, giving them a box of candies they definitely deserved. “Cutie Mark Crusader Scary Monsters! Yay!” The three fillies shouted in unison, hopefully looking at their blank flanks. However, most probably for the best of Rainbow Dash and any other pony in town, none of them received their cutie mark that night. //-------------------------------------------------------// #5: Of Destruction and Forgiveness [Romance/Slice of Life] //-------------------------------------------------------// 5: Of Destruction and Forgiveness [Romance/Slice of Life] ========================================================== The Prompt (by Echz (http://www.fimfiction.net/user/Echriedz) in the TwiDash (http://www.fimfiction.net/group/93/twidash) group): "Arson, Murder, and Lifesaving" (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ArsonMurderAndLifeSaving) Of Destruction and Forgiveness It was a perfect warm, tranquil, bright and shining, summer day in Ponyville. Fluttershy was on her way to the market place to buy some fresh carrots for her bunnies while Cheerilee was involved in a chat with a quite uncommonly talkative red stallion. Lyra was playing a harmonious new song on her harp just a few meters from Sweetie Drops who had just reopened her candy shop after lunchtime and some fillies and colts were cheerfully playing on the streets when all of a sudden a thunderstorm, the size that ponies have never seen before, emerged and raged over the town. It caused nothing else than massive amounts of destruction. Within seconds, debris and wreckage were uncontrollably flying through the roads, demolishing windows and lanterns that was in their way. Trees were violently uprooted and knocked over and even some roofs were blown off while the weather manager in charge of the small town was peacefully taking a nap somewhere high in the skies above Sweet Apple Acres, far off from any dark cloud. It was a little wonder that no pony got severely injured or even worse regarding the extent of destruction the tempest left behind in the small village. A few hours have passed since the force of nature devastated most of the town. With a nervous expression on her face and shaking knees, Rainbow Dash was sitting on a chair in the waiting room of the new mayor’s bureau, knowing exactly what would come next. The mayor’s personal assistant would come out of the office at any second, call her in and close the door behind him, from the safe outer side of course. After unsuccessfully trying to swallow down her fears, she would slowly and uneasily trot to an isolated, rather uncomfortable wooden chair in the middle of the room and sit down on it casing herself in silence, just waiting for the other pony to start talking, scold her, shout her down and make her getting closer to shed tears with every word she would say. And everything happened just as she suspected. Not daring to move just an inch she tensely sat on the same spot of the disagreable chair for already more than half an hour, waiting for nothing else than the final judgment, in fact looking forward to it - no matter whatever it would be - since everything was better than getting yelled from the other mare. Usually she didn’t mind getting scolded or even insulted at all, but every phrase the mayor used to describe her irresponsible and intolerable behavior felt like a needle getting slowly pulled out of her heart just to violently get rammed back into it the next second. Bearing every word the other pony threw at her during the past thirty minutes, Rainbow Dash was already slightly sobbing and not far from uncontrollably breaking out in tears, but pulled herself together as she knew that a few minutes later she would have been through it. “You’re a true disaster and considering the responsibility I’m carrying for this town, I should not just suspend you from your duties, but banish you from Ponyville, if not from all of Equestria...” Twilight furiously barked, impetuously flapping with her wings and wildly stomping with her hooves in her continuous rage as she was barely able to manage holding herself together, just enough that she wouldn’t slap the lovely face of the pegasus who was silently and remorsefully sitting right in front of her. Within a blink of a second, she turned away from the sky blue mare and went to the huge broken window of her usually orderly, but through the storm that raged through chaotic appearing office. Averting her view from Rainbow Dash and deeply inhaling the cold fresh air for a few times, she somehow managed to slowly calm herself down again. “...But after all, you’re the mare I decided to love,” She suddenly broke the several minutes of tense silence using a soft and soothing voice, just like she wanted to excuse for all the horrible things she said before. “So, if you promise me to not neglect your obligations again, you may go home,” the alicorn gently offered with an affectionate undertone, still looking out of the window, admiring a beautiful rainbow which ornamented the sky above the devastated town. Without saying a word as she knew that it wouldn’t be appreciated, Rainbow Dash stood up from the chair she was crouching on, headed to the door, opened it and had almost left the room when the mayor unexpectedly opened her mouth to add another statement, “and if you happen to pass by the market place on your way, would you be so kind and buy some salad and bread for dinner.” With a broad smile growing on her muzzle, Rainbow Dash left the office and closed the door behind her. //-------------------------------------------------------// #6: I take you to the skies; there we can gaze at the stars together [Romance/Sad] //-------------------------------------------------------// 6: I take you to the skies; there we can gaze at the stars together [Romance/Sad] ================================================================================== The Prompt (by soundslikeponies (http://www.fimfiction.net/user/soundslikeponies) [@Skype] and Tombstone (http://www.bronies.de/member.php?action=profile&uid=7532) from bronies.de (http://www.bronies.de/) forum: “TwiDash in space“ and “Sequel to staying at her side“ I take you to the skies; there we can gaze at the stars together It was the middle of a mild winter night, the moonlight was gently penetrating the clouds and enlightening the small hill not far from the Golden Oak’s Library in a soft glow while a slight snowfall was slowly covering the ground in pure white. Like every Friday night, Twilight and Rainbow Dash should meet under the marvelous tree, the one which was solely standing on top of the hill and through a powerful spell that was once casted on it never lost its leaves, to enjoy the comfort of being close to each other and gaze the stars together. When she had the short, but through the cold and strong headwind rather exhausting, walk behind her, a little smile grew the unicorn’s muzzle as she finally reached the other mare who was already waiting for her. Twilight had looked forward to this for the whole week, not just because she was eager to see the playful pegasus again, but also for the reason that she had prepared something very special for their date. This night they wouldn’t just spend their time lying side by side gazing at the stars and dwelling in beautiful memories of long passed days; this night they would go on a journey like never before to explore the infinite-wide of the universe. Even if the pair got used to only meet once a week for years, they didn’t need any words to describe their feelings for each other or what they’ve experienced during the seven days that had past since their last reunion. The bond they formed was strong enough to overcome any kind of distance; to Twilight, it always felt like the mare she loved more than anything else was very close, and no matter how far away Rainbow Dash was in reality, for the unicorn it seemed like the two mares experienced everything together. Over the past few years, Twilight had mastered all kinds of magic, however to perform the new spell the princess of the night had recently taught her, she still had to put all her focus together. A few moments after her horn started shimmering in a mild purple gloss, the couple found themselves high up in the sky; much higher than any pony may ever have travelled before. Looking down at the world and marveling the sight of the countless stars in front of them, Twilight reached out for her marefriend and holding hooves the loving couple started their matchless journey. Passing the moon and moving through the starry sky at a rapid speed, admiring the incomparable sight which was revealed to them, all their sorrows and grievences were quickly forgotten and replaced by nothing else than pure joy. They were not just ponies bound to a small and limited place they already knew anymore; they were discoverers travelling to yet unknown places no pony has ever visited before. Spotting marvelous constellations which otherwise perhaps would have remained unseen forever and even witnessing the far away birth of a new star, time seemed to pass by much too fast. As she slowly started to feel the weariness weakining her magic and therefore realized that she couldn’t maintain the spell forever, Twilight stopped and wistfully let go of Rainbow’s hoof as she knew that the other mare was eager to try out some of her more difficult moves in the weightlessness, perhaps also stunts even a been daredevil like her would never have ventured to perform under the suppressing influence of gravity. As Rainbow Dash turned around for a short moment to express her thanks to the unicorn, Twilight used that chance to deeply look into her in rapture sparkling magenta orbs for a last time and salvage her wonderful smile for all eternity. Watching the other mare elegantly gliding through the endless universe that was offered to them, passing stars, other planets and galaxies while drawing a miraculous rainbow everywhere she went, Twilight wished for nothing else than that these moments could literally last forever. Overwhelmed by the beauty of the pegasus and some of her sky blue feathers playfully dancing between the in the far away distance smaller and smaller getting celestial bodies, some words Twilight would never forget started echoing in her ears ‘When you miss me just look up to the night sky and remember that I’m like a star - sometimes you can’t see me, but I’m always there.’ A depressed sigh escaped the unicorn’s lips as she remembered the harsh fact that when their time has come, even stars tend to fade. The purple shimmer enveloping Twilight’s horn slowly waned and the marvelous projection of the universe surrounding her as well as the one of the mare she missed more than words could possibly describe, vanished. A long suppressed sob made its way up the lavender mare’s throat as hot and sorrowful tears escaped her eyes, ran down her face and dropped on the cold stone plate in front of her hooves as she had to think about how much Rainbow Dash would have loved to see all this. //-------------------------------------------------------// #7: New Family (1/2) [Romance/Slice of Life] //-------------------------------------------------------// 7: New Family (1/2) [Romance/Slice of Life] ============================================ The Prompt (by Jakkard from #mlp@gamesurge): "Rainbow Dash is nervous about getting introduced to Twilight’s parents" New Family (1/2) Several hours had passed since the sun set for the night which was enlightened by nothing else than the pale blue luminosity coming from the magnificent full moon. Since she wasn’t able to fall asleep, Rainbow Dash, sitting on on the young couple’s soft bed beside her sleeping marefriend, had all time in the world to lock her view on the most admirable stars the night had to offer. Even though the fact that she had already gazed at those stars so many times, she would never stop loving to stare at them and try to determine the very little difference they had while letting her mind rove and herself get lost in their elegance. From the faraway distance, only one of them could clearly protrude since it was the biggest and most beautiful one, but at a closer look, every single one of them had its own unique flair. A slightly troubled sigh made its way up Rainbow’s throat as the nervousness she was carrying deep inside her heart increased from second to second and spread a weak itchy feeling through her whole body. The only things that suppressed her urge to jump from the bed and do something distracting were the few stars her eyes were fixated on as well as the warm and even breathing coming from the peacefully sleeping unicorn at her side which gently stroke her fur. ‘Just three more hours until the sun will rise’ Rainbow Dash thought as her eyes averted from the soothing stars to take a glimpse at the clock which was hanging at the opposite wall of the room. ‘Of all the nights, why has it got to be just this one night in which I’m not able to fall asleep’ She continued her train of thought with another distressed sigh escaping her mouth. “I don’t want them to think of me as a sleep deprived wreck,” she silently groaned with a clear tortured and annoyed tone of voice before she directed her gaze at the soothing stars again. “Rainbow…?” Twilight mumbled dozily and opened her eyes for a small gap. She tiredly looked up and the moment she got the blue pegasus’ dreamy face in view, a wide smile grew on her muzzle. “Are you staring at my flanks again?” Her clearly amused question was accompanied by a pleased yawn. “Sorry, didn’t mean to wake you,” Dash softly whispered and let her hoof gently wander through Twilight’s slight crinkled mane. “And yeah, you could say that,” she added with a sheepish grin and a little heat running across her cheeks. At the sight of her blushing marefriend, Twilight’s smile grew even wider. “Can’t you sleep?” Twilight asked with a caring voice and let one of her hooves meet one of Dash’s who just weakly nodded in response, her eyes still locked at the unicorn’s Cutie Mark. Before Rainbow Dash could notice, Twilight had sat up at her side and pulled her into a comforting embrace. “You really don’t need to worry about it,” Twilight reassuringly whispered while gently stroking through her marefriend’s rainbow-colored mane. “They’ll love you exactly how you are,” She added after a few moments, confidently looking into Dash’s tired magenta orbs. Another sigh, disconcerned, but this time also carrying a lot of relaxation along since Twilight’s soothing words kindled a spark of assurance and hope deep inside her her heart, made its way through Dash’s throat. “How can you be so sure?” She asked and let herself slowly sink on Twilight’s lap before she closed her eyes and buried her muzzle deep in Twilight’s soft fur, waiting for her marefriend’s certainly lovely explanation. “There are so many reasons Rainbow, I don’t even know what I shall start with,” Twilight mildly said and continued tenderly stroking through the other mare’s mane. “On the one hoof, and this is the upmost important reason, because you make me happy and I love you more than words could possibly say. That alone already is more than enough that there’s no way they wouldn’t accept you for any reason.” She explained and added a short break during which Rainbow let a pleasured wheeze meet her comfortable warm lap. “And on the other hoof, just because how you are. You’re a smart, gentle, loving and strong mare who takes care about her friends and who would never back off from an argument to defend her standpoint. You’re exactly the kind of marefriend everypony dreams to have. Dad will be more than just glad that his daughter finally found a pony she’s happy and wants to spend her life with and mom will be joyful that she gets a beautiful daughter-in-law she can talk to and treat with homemade cookies at hearts warming eve,” Twilight loveingly said as the imagination of her mother gifting Rainbow with even knitted pullovers on all possible occasions crossed her mind and made her smirk in delight. “So you see, there’s really nothing in the world that you need to be worried about.” Just the second Twilight had finished her declaration, she realized that Rainbow Dash, snuggling in her lap, has already fallen deep asleep. “And that’s the reason why there’s absolutely no possibility that anypony couldn’t love you,” she silently whispered at the cute sight of the peacefully sleeping pegasus. //-------------------------------------------------------// #8: New Family (2/2) [Romance/Slice of Life] //-------------------------------------------------------// 8: New Family (2/2) [Romance/Slice of Life] ============================================ The Prompt (by Jakkard from #mlp@gamesurge): "Rainbow Dash is nervous about getting introduced to Twilight’s parents" New Family (2/2) “So awesome!” Rainbow Dash rejoiced, spread out her wings and let herself fall back on the soft pillow, pressing the little plushie tightly against her chest. “I didn’t even know that there were Daring Do plushies,” she declared with a lot of enthusiasm in her voice and directed her view at Twilight who was just coming back from the bathroom. “I told you that they’ll love you.” Twilight widely smiled at the satisfied pegasus and sat down besides her. Twilight, for sure, would never forget the expression Rainbow was carrying on her face and the exaltation in her glimmering magenta eyes the moment the unicorn’s mother gifted her with the cuddly souvenir. “So I didn’t promise you too much I guess?” She let herself sink down at Rainbow’s side and used her magic to turn off the light. “You could have promised me twice and it still wouldn’t have been enough to describe how great this day would be,” Rainbow happily replied and turned to Twilight. “You got some really awesome parents, you know?” She calmly said with slight suppressed disappointment in her tone since she just realized that she would never be able to return the pleasure of sharing something as precious as a family with Twilight because there was just her and, if you count a pony that had become something of a little sister to her, a certain orange filly who the unicorn already knew. A few moments of a slightly depressed atmosphere passed until Twilight gently pulled Rainbow Dash into a heart-warming embrace. “Don’t worry about it, you don’t have to return anything to me at all to begin with,” she mildly explained while softly stroking through the other mare’s mane. “You’re already giving much more to me than I could possibly ask for,” She added using a comforting tone. “It’s just…” For a short moment Rainbow looked up in to Twilight’s caring violet eyes, but averted her view again the second she realized that it perhaps would be inappropriate to already ask the question which was burning on her mind for entire day. Yet, even if Dash didn’t venture to forward her request, Twilight already had a clue what it was about. “Rainbow...” Twilight soothingly said, gently putting her hoof on Dash’s chin and slowly turned her back so that their views crossed again. “I couldn’t avoid noticing that there was something you wanted to ask them all along,” she continued with a wide, loving smile growing on her muzzle. “I’m absolutely sure that my parents would be more than just fine if Scootaloo and you would call them mom and dad too.” Rainbow’s eyes widened a bit since she didn’t expect that her thoughts, even if they already were a couple for some months, would be that transparent to Twilight. Now knowing what to say she let her gaze slowly wander down her marefriend’s chest until she got the Daring Do plushie in sight which was placed between them. Looking at the precious gift, she recalled one of the most joyful days of her entire life which were filled by memories she would never forget. “I think you’re right,” She smiled brightly, her view locked with the miniature of her favorite adventurer, some tears of pure happiness gathering in the corners of her eyes. “Got Smarty Pants?” She playfully asked as she softly pressed her beloved little Daring Do against her chest. Twilight nodded, stretched out one of her front legs and grabbed her own precious soft toy from the bedside table. Putting Smarty Pants in between Rainbow Dash and herself and right in front of Daring Do, Twilight warped her voice by at least two vocal octaves higher and started jolly speaking, “Hey Daring, want to go on an adventure tonight?” Both mares chuckled in unison. “Twilight,” Rainbow Dash sighed with an amused grin on her muzzle. “You know that I’m not the kind of pony who plays with dolls, right?” she asked, but found herself looked at with wide pleading violet sparkling orbs. It didn’t take more than a few seconds until another sigh, yielding, escaped Rainbow’s mouth. “Sure, got anything in mind?” Rainbow replied looking at the Daring Do plushie and appropriately moved it to empathize her words, proving more than just her own voice acting skills, before she raised her head and got Twilight in view once again. At the sight of her marefriend’s in joy glimmering eyes, Rainbow Dash felt a little heat running across her cheeks because she realized that the unicorn, in fact, was in a more than just playful mood that night. “I heard that there are two beautiful giant mares who are pulling our strings and that we might be rewarded with a treasure map if we make them kiss,” Twilight lovely explained using Smarty Pants’ imaginary voice what made Rainbow Dash blush even more. “Count me in,” Rainbow replied with a clearly softened tone and leaned close to Twilight, just leaving a little gap between their muzzles as the other mare’s horn started shimmering in a mild light. With Daring Do and Smarty Pants floating above them, both soft toys enveloped in a mild purple shine, Twilight pulled Rainbow Dash in a tight embrace and closed the little gap between their muzzles, engaging her marefriend in a desire-filled affectionate kiss. //-------------------------------------------------------// #9: Broken Dreams: Last Wish (1/2) [Romance/Sad] //-------------------------------------------------------// 9: Broken Dreams: Last Wish (1/2) [Romance/Sad] ================================================ The Prompt (by Tombstone (http://www.bronies.de/member.php?action=profile&uid=7532) from bronies.de (http://www.bronies.de/) forum): "Twilight's Last Wish" Last Wish Twilight directed her view at the ground with a clearly frightened expression on her face and frowned while biting her lower lip, but was still able to maintain her composure. After all, she had already settled with the fact that her life would end eventually, its just that she didn't expect it to happen so soon. "Nurse Redheart, I‘d like to ask two favors of you," she calmly said, raising her head again to look the white mare deep into her green eyes which were full of sympathy. "First of all, I want you to give me some kind of medication, something that will help me stay awake and enables me to enjoy every moment that I have left. I already feel kind of tired, but I’m definitely not ready to go to sleep yet. I still have a lot to do, so many things which I've postponed because I was always busy keeping up with my duties... and perhaps, it’s also because I was living under the fake imagination that everything was perfect like it was," she said with slightly melancholic voice. Redheart nodded understandingly. "And what would be the second thing?" she softly asked, trying to hold back the sorrowful tears that had gathered in the corners of her eyes. "I want to leave here. I just don’t want to die inside this room. I want to visit Cloudsdale once again. Ages have passed since I was there last time. I need to talk to an old friend I haven't seen for years. We always used to spend so much time together, but I haven't talked to her since..." said Twilight with glimmering eyes as her weakened voice slowly trailed off. She coughed heavily several times and gasped for breath, but eventually was able to continue after a minute. "I want to go out and take a last walk in the snow and feel the biting cold on my hooves once again. I can’t remember having done so since the last winter wrap-up I participated back in the days before I became princess and always was so afraid of catching a cold and not being able to comply with my duties then," Twilight dwelled in memories of the most joyful times of her life, a slightly depressed sigh escaping her lips. "I want to feel the snowflakes falling on my snout and catch them with my tongue as I did back when I was a little filly. I want to see my dear mother once again, let me be taken into a lovely embrace only a mother can give and let my emotions run wild, unashamed of showing my feelings to her and weep away my very fears of dying," she added with some hot tears of regret running down her face. "I want to visit princess Celestia, take a walk through the palace and its garden and look at all those stone statues I never really cared about, but which are holding stories of thousands of years within them. I need to thank the princess for the beautiful life she enabled me to live, and for all the friends I would never have met if she hadn't have sent me to Ponyville." Twilight took a short break, taking in the thought that after all, it was just a single day she had left and that there wasn’t enough time to do all these things by any possibility. “But it is utmost important for me to get to Cloudsdale and see Rainbow Dash once again. I want to tell her that I love her and that I’m deeply sorry for everything that has happened. I really don’t want to leave things as they are now. Even if it should be for just one day, I want to be on good terms again with the only mare I’ve ever loved before leaving this world.” When Twilight had finished speaking, the room was filled with an oppressive silence. She and Redheart looked each other deep in their eyes, torn by all kinds of emotions, thinking about the endless list of possibilities a mere day could offer. Shaken by the imagination that a pony, even a princess, was going to be torn from the living this young, the nurse was swallowing a ball that had formed in her throat. “I’ll let the doctor know and prepare everything to get you to Cloudsdale as soon as possible,” she said with a clearly saddened voice before she left the room. As the door had closed behind her, Redheart weakly sobbed and wasn’t able to suppress tears any longer. Twilight looked out of the window into the gloomy night. At the thought that she had just a single day to make up for a whole life, she sighed heavily. Yet, if she would be able to spend just half of it with a certain blue pegasus, it certainly was worth living fast. Between hot tears which were burning narrow lanes in Twilight’s cheeks, a little smile grew on her face. //-------------------------------------------------------// #10: Broken Dreams: Redemption (2/2) [Romance/Sad] //-------------------------------------------------------// 10: Broken Dreams: Redemption (2/2) [Romance/Sad] ================================================== The Prompt (by Tombstone (http://www.bronies.de/member.php?action=profile&uid=7532) from bronies.de (http://www.bronies.de/) forum): "Twilight's Redemption" Redemption An old picture, framed in beautiful mahogany, covered by a thick layer of dust. Before she was holding it in her hooves, the wheels of time had made Twilight completely forget about its very existence. She carefully lifted the photo to her snout and blew away the fine dust which had gathered on it. Sorrowful tears started running down her face, accompanied by heavy sobs, as she took a closer look at it. Most of the colors were faded, all that was left was a lifeless seeming gray. Gritting her teeth, she tried to maintain her composure, but the pain expanding from her heart had taken over her whole body within the brink of a second. Twilight slowly sank to the brittle wooden floor of the abandoned library, the picture tightly pressed against her chest. It was deeply hurting her to see every little spark of life it once carried along being gone like this, also because it was relentlessly pulling her back to the mercilessness of reality. Her breath faltered as the thoughts of how many years have passed and what could have been if things would have been just slightly different crossed her mind. They always wanted to stay close to each other and go through life together. But as Equestria had changed, so had their dreams and the oath they made fell into oblivion like everything else that once had formed their bond. And when Twilight wanted to restore their friendship after all those years, she had to find out that it already was too late to do so. Twilight had made countless decisions over the years, and most of them were for the best. Not just for herself, but for all of Equestria. However, there also were a very few for which she wished nothing more than to be able to turn back time and change them. Those few were the ones burdening her for her entire life, mostly from the second she made them, and also made everything she had achieved as ruler of a whole kingdom seem almost meaningless to her. Confronted with the framed reminder of the one particular decision which she regretted the very most, to reject a beautiful mare, a dear friend for whom she should find out to have feelings stronger than words could possibly explain just a little bit later, Twilight’s whole body started feeling slack from the tiredness that was slowly overcoming her. Barely a single day had passed during which she didn’t think about the dear friend she had lost and during which she didn’t ask herself what could have been if she would have given a response differently in a single word to the one she actually gave. As she felt the last of her strength slowly fade away, she gently put the framed picture on the ground in front of her. Looking at the mare she loved deeply, the princess closed her tear-swollen eyes. At once, a weak light coming from the setting sun shone through the window, gently penetrating Twilight’s eyes and displacing the gloomy darkness that was surrounding her. She laboriously lifted her heavy eyelids once again and as the beam hit her tired eyes, Twilight could have sworn she saw the beautiful colors of a marvelous rainbow coming through the glass of the window like they would escape from a prism. The grief and sorrows she felt were instantly displaced and she realized that there was no need to keep struggling as she at once was soothed and calm again. The tears stopped leaving her weary eyes and a little smile grew on her muzzle. Prepared to finally let go, Twilight sensed the beneficial and comfortable feeling warmth coming from the weak ray of light and decided to give herself to it as she closed her eyes for the very last time. After all those years she was living in repentance, Twilight would finally be able to get redemption as she was taking her last breath and soon, under the starry sky, would meet Rainbow Dash once again.
