Chapter 2 Fear and Love

Twilight awoke from her night of slumber to the brightness of the sun filtering in through her window. She yawned and stretched, small twinges of soreness and pleasure still lingering in her body. She took a moment to delight on her memories from last night, feeling both happiness and shame at the same time.

With a sigh she went to the window and allowed a cool sea breeze to flow into her room, birds were chirping in the distance, Celestia’s sun was warm but not overbearing, the scene from her room offered her a perfect view of the ocean, overall a perfect shining morning. It was so serene so calm, it annoyed Twilight to no end. Nature, at its best, was mocking her, teasing her with bright glittering sights of beauty and peace, it was disgusting. Sighing she turned to her bathroom. A long shower being just what the doctored ordered for her to prepare herself for the new day. Even then she found no peace.

Under the cascading water Twilight thought. She thought about how her day was going to be, she thought about what she would do for fun, but it always came back to what the buck did she just do last night. Letting the water fall down her body she began to think about what she should do about her condition.

Twilight knew she wasn’t sick or anything, or at least she hoped to not be. Her actions towards Spike were certainly not normal, they were in fact downright illegal, because rape, no matter how you look at it, is still rape, but for her emotions to have culminated to all this. It was beyond her.

“I’m sure if Spike knew about it he would hate me forever.” Twilight said, sighing into the steam of the water. Staring at herself, in a full body mirror placed inside the shower, she tried to find a flaw on her that would indicate she was broken. A slight flaw on the Twilight that showed before her that would prove she was paying for all that she had done, a blemish, a bruise, a change in her mane color, anything to show even a scrap of how broken she felt inside, but all she found was a smile, bright, beautiful, and one she knew she was not making.

Who knows? Maybe it could actually turn him on, but I doubt he is a pervert like you.’ Her reflection spoke.

“Can’t you leave me alone for five minutes?” She said to the reflection.

‘I AM you! Just more honest about what I want and how I feel. I will never leave, Twilight. Not until you do something about it, about Spike, and by something I mean tell him your feelings and accept the consequences.

“I… I want to, but I can’t risk it,” Twilight turned off the shower. “If I do tell him and he doesn’t feel the same way then we couldn’t be friends anymore, it would be too painful for us, for me.”

And if he feels the same way? Have you thought of that? If he does then we will stop feeling guilty and actually start to truly enjoy time with him.

“But even then, I would have to tell him what I have being doing to him,” A sad smile adorned her lips. “And I really doubt he would be ok or forgive me for it,” She sighed sadly. “I ruined any chance I had, those nights are all I’ll ever have with him.”

If you give up so easily then you don’t deserve him at all.

“I know. Spike deserves better than me, he deserves better than a perverted coward who can’t even speak their mind.” She spoke, a resigned and defeated tone in her voice, yet an encouraging and fake smile plastered on her face.

You are pathetic.’

“I guess I am,” Twilight turned away from the mirror to exit the shower. “And I’m perfectly fine with that.”

Finishing her bath Twilight looked into her closet and filed through every piece of organized cloth deciding on just what to wear to impress her drake friend. Finally she fell on something seductive yet functional, a red, tie around, two piece showing off her curves yet not too revealing, it was satisfying to her but she also grabbed a yellow hoddie to put on later. Opening the access door to check if Spike had slept in she, surprisingly, found him almost ready.

“Good morning, Twi,” He said. “Man, I slept amazing! These beds are soooo soft!” He said grinning at her. “Did you sleep well too, Twilight?” Twilight was struck dumb for a few seconds, who wouldn’t with the sight set before her. Spike was topless, yes, she had seen him topless on many occasions but this was different. Spike had the shirt lifted just above his head his face smiling as he pulled it down. Twilight’s mind jumped to various scenarios one in particular stuck out, Spike getting dressed after a VERY long night.

Twilight smiled awkwardly. “Y-yeah! It was a good night sleep, I enjoyed it a lot.”

“Cool, Hey, it’s barely nine o’clock, should we go and have breakfast?” Spike said a little put off by Twilight’s staring but chalked it up to Twilight being Twilight.

“Alright, lets.”

-----------------------------------------------**********************************************

Their second day started normally, having breakfast and trying to decide what they should do. Spike looked outside and decided that a nice day on the beach, free of pests, would be just what they need.

It was fun. They got to splash and swim around the beach, testing and teasing each other for who could go out farther. Twilight floundering in the water with Spike coming to save her every time. They did not enjoy the day by themselves, no, they got into a rather competitive game of volleyball, girls vs boys, against a group of beach goers.

Hours went by. It was not until lunch that the new friends decided to go their separate ways. Twilight and Spike found themselves starving after such an exhausting morning and the buffet bar was the first thing to enter their minds.

“So,” Spike said, sitting on their table with his food. "Nice day so far huh."

Twilight started biting into a piece of toast she had gotten before answering Spike's question.

"Very, you jumped pretty high to get those lobs."

"I had to!" Spike defended himself. "It was three unicorns on two stallions and a dragon! Those girls barely jumped for those hits." He joked. Sighing a bit as he remembered those unicorns. "But those girls looked nice."

"They did did they?" Twilight spoke a slight sharpness entering her eyes, unnoticed by Spike.

"Yes, there was one in particular, her fur was so shiny, her mane was catching the light just right, and the colors of her pelt! Jeez, I wish I could see her more."

Twilight at this point was highly agitated. Her mind tingling with punishment for those two unicorns. Jumping from banishing, to execution, to blasting them off to the moon, she finally settled to do all three. ‘Those little hussies think they can take my Spike? Well they have another thing coming!’ She thought. So enraptured in her thoughts of torture and punishment Twilight barely registered Spike’s words, barely.

“I’m sorry Spike, I was lost in thought. What did you say?” She said, her tortures and pains pushed to the back of her mind.

“What do you want to do tonight, Twi?” He spoke each word slow and clearly, like an adult explaining something to a child, Twilight let it slide.

“Oh, I don’t know,” She said, sticking her fork rather forcefully through a hot dog. “There are many thing we could do and places to visit I can’t decide what to do! Maybe if I do a checklist.” Twilight spoke while exaggerating her bites.

“Twilight” Spike deadpanned, non pulsed by Twilight’s actions. “Remember, this is our vacation, you promised me to NOT do any kind of schedule. Just do what feels right for you! We came here to have fun!”

“Thanks Spike, you are right, then let me think,” Silence reigned for a couple of minutes as they ate. It was near the end of their meal when she saw a poster near the exit of the buffet. “I have an idea!”

“I’m all ears.”

“Well, since yesterday a certain stallion tried to miserably invite me to a date, why don’t we have one?”

“As in, you and me? Together?” Spike as, tilting his head to the side.

“Of course! Well, if you want to,” Twilight blushed a little at this, embarrassed at her careless proposal. “I know we are friends and it would be awkward but I, I mean, it should be fun and we-“

“I would love to go on a date with you, Twilight,” Spike said, cutting of her rambling. “But are you sure you want to go with me, I mean, I don’t know if you noticed but you are still a main prize for most males here, even if you did sent that idiot flying.”

“Oh yeah? Then please explain to me why you haven’t noticed most girls are practically drooling over you?”

“I have, and I can’t blame them, I’m just that charming and irresistible.” Spike smiled cockily.

“And that is why I want to go with you, oh all powerful mare magnet.”

Both of them looked at each other’s eyes before laughing.

“S-seriously Twi, do you really want to go with me?”

“I wouldn’t have asked if I didn’t, Spike”

“Then, I am honored to be your escort for this night, milady,” Spike bowed before her as best as he could in his sitting position. “But, where are we going?” Twilight smiled warmly at him before pointing behind him at the poster she saw earlier. “…… You are in for a surprise, Twi.” He smiled at her.

“What kind of surprise?”

“Oh you know the best prize ever.” His smile was confident, arrogant, and instantly piquing Twilight’s curiosity.

“What is it!!” She demanded to know.

“A surprise.” Spike said before finishing his meal.

-----------------------------------------------------------------****************************************

A surprise indeed awaited Twilight at the hotel. Spike had prepared elegant attire. Literally, according to Spike it was incase they went out somewhere fancy, it was claw stitched, custom designed to a personal level. Not as elegant as Rarity’s gala dresses, but they weren’t supposed to be. Formal casual the technical term Spike used to describe his creation, though Twilight suspected he coined the term himself. Spike’s attire was a black vest, a green flame design stitched onto the breast pocket, followed with a green dress shirt, accented with purple lines running with the grain. Pants that were as black as coal and matching shoes. The finishing touch, though, was a fedora hat. Twilight found him handsome, though the fedora was pushing it a bit. He truly did look amazing.

“The piece the resistance.” He said reaching into his closet to pull out a dress that took Twilight’s breath away. It was a yellow dress but at the same time it wasn’t, it was a mix of yellow, green, and a light orange. The gradient between them almost imperceptible, obvious at a second glance yet still pleasing to the eye. The top was full yellow, but the lower you went the more the color mixed, sometimes the colors would clash, sometimes change seamlessly, it was almost too much for the eyes. Her cutie mark emulated by a cut amethyst was placed at the hip, here Twilight thought her eyes were playing tricks on her as she could have sworn the crystal was bending and twisting with each flutter Spike did to show her the full dress.

“Spike...” She was stunned. Such intricacy and detail she didn’t think Spike was capable of such meticulous planning in clothes. ‘He is spending too much time with Rarity. Maybe I should send some guards to work for her.’

“Awe you don’t have to say anything Twilight, just put it on so we can get going.” Spike said, false tone of nonchalance in his voice. Urging Twilight into her suite.

-----------------------------------------------------------------****************************************

A few hours later the duo were standing at the entrance of a restaurant ready to check themselves in.

“May I help yo—Oh Princess Twilight Sparkle!!” A griffon said, placing a quick respectful bow for the monarch. “We are honored to gain your visit to our modest establishment.” The griffon gave another respectful bow as he said this. “My name is Swift Claw, how may I serve you and your companion this fine night?”

“Good night, sir Swift Claw, we would like a table for two please.” Twilight smiled ear to ear as she spoke, never presenting her irritation to the griffon.

“But of course princess, do you wish to be seated near the dais or would a balcony suit you better?”

“Near the dais will be fine.” ‘Curt, to the point, and few words Twilight,’ She thought. ‘It is expected from a princess.’

“Excellent choice, Princess, now if you would be so kind to follow me.”

Entering the restaurant they saw that it was indeed modest, a four star restaurant known to hold great shows and other kinds of events. Following the griffon they noticed a chef cooking skewers and some other selected dishes, spinning and flipping the ingredients in a flashy manner, they also noted the restaurant wasn’t full of customers but had enough to call it a busy night. The scant people that were present had an air of expectancy around them, as if anticipating something amazing.

Arriving at their table, almost directly in front of the stage, Spike proceeded to take Twilight’s seat out to allow her to sit and then took his place.

“Enjoy your stay, the menu’s will arrive in short notice, and also you have arrived at the perfect time, the show will begin in fifteen minutes, kind sir, princess.” And with that the griffon left them.

“It’s a very nice place; don’t you think so, Twilight?”

“Indeed Spike, it is very nice, not overall luxurious but more casual, comfortable, I suppose.”

“Pardon me, here are your Menu’s,” A zebra waitress said handing them each a simple and elegant portrayed menus. “I shall return in a few moments when you decide your order.” The zebra bowed as he left.

“Well that was fast,” Twilight commented. “I believe we are getting special treatment,” She giggled a bit. “It’s the kind of treatment I like, don’t you, Spike?” No answer. “Spike?” Putting her menu down she saw Spike scanning it before giving out a sigh of defeat “Let me guess, no gemstones?”

“Yeah,” Another sigh. “I mean, they have meat here but no gemstones? Guess dragons really are not common around here.”

“About that, have you noticed we haven’t seen another dragon yet?” Spike shook his head “Strange isn’t it?”

“Not much,” Spike replied taking up the menu again. “Considering most dragons are not exactly civilized, it doesn’t really surprise me anymore, as far as I know I think I’m one of the few, if not the only peaceful dragon.”

“Probably, but don’t lose hope, maybe you will find another dragon like you in the future, Spike,” She said looking at the menu, trying to find something she liked. “Perhaps even a… Dragoness.”

“Dragoness? Why would I want to meet a dragoness?” Spike said never putting down his menu. “I think I’ll have roasted pork, it has been ages since I last ate meat, how about you?”

“Why shouldn’t you? Spike, you are a dragon, it is only natural you will find a dragoness the most appealing to you,” She answered matter-of-factly. “Alright, I’ll have a hay and dandelion salad and a glass of red wine to drink”

“Maybe, but I have seen dragoness before, like the last time I went with Luna to the Dragon Lands on her diplomatic mission, and let me tell you, they aren’t that pretty. I personally find mares to be far more appealing, at least, they are for me.” He put his menu down. “I think I’ll have a glass of wine too, by the way the dress suits you well, you look very beautiful.”

Twilight blushed slightly at his comment. “Thanks, that suit is also very nice, it makes you look more handsome,” She said putting her menu down and looking up to Spike, who was smiling at her. “What? Do I have something on my face?”

“No, nothing, nothing.”

The waitress came back and took their orders, a full minute passed without them saying anything, until Spike remembered something.

“Hey Twi, I have a question”

“About what?”

“It’s about, well, you know, him.” Spike put some emphasis on the word ‘him’.

“Oh yeah, him.” Twilight said, almost vomiting on the word.

“I know I promised to never ask and I know you made me promise to remind you that you would never talk about it, but please, just what exactly did Sentry do to you that was so bad?” Twilight’s expression turned sad and sour. “D-did he cheat on you?”

“No, Spike,” Twilight sighed, sadness could be felt on said sigh. “He did something far worse,” She smiled warmly at Spike. “He was using me, from the very beginning he was using me, all so he could become a prince himself. I should have known that it was going to turn out that way, everystallion that showed even a hint of attraction to me was always looking beyond the mare to the princess that loved her. Always looking to get something out of me... I should have seen it coming.” She said. Venom and spite filling each and every word the escaped her lips. She almost lost herself to the emotions till a voice brought her back.

“Twi….”

Spike, I can always count on you though. You won’t try to use me... you really are my most dependable of friends.’ She thought. It took a moment to realize that her words had worried him, unsettled her lifelong companion, she was not going to ruin this night.

“But it’s alright, Spike, it’s alright,” Twilight focused on Spike. “It was five years ago, I’m already over it.”

“Then, why haven’t you searched for a true special somepony?”

“Let’s just say I’m waiting for the right one to come .......even if that right one is in front of me.” She said, telling the last part to herself.

“Ladies and Gentleman,” Said a voice from above. “Here in our restaurant and for your delight,” He spoke, the crowd had begun to pay more attention to the stage. “Please welcome and enjoy the act of the fabulous “Prancing Ponies”!”

“This should be interesting.” Spike said, looking at the act that was about to begin.

Shortly after the performance began the waitress arrived with their dinner. They proceeded to enjoy the food and the show of comedians mixed with tricks of magic and illusions. As the show went on Twilight and Spike talked and laughed, remembering their friends, their duties, their mistakes, their victories and everything they could come up with, overall, they were enjoying their date immensely.

As the act closed up it was followed by a round of applauses as the voice from earlier began to speak again.

“And now, please enjoy some of our selected music, if any happy couple wishes to dance, by all means, do so in our stage, goodnight and enjoy your stay”.

The voice died down and slowly a calm yet powerful melody was beginning to be heard.

“Finally!” Spike exclaimed getting up from his seat. “Milady,” He said bowing and turning to Twilight. “Would you grant me the great honor of share a dance with you?” Spike extended a claw towards her.

“Oh Spike,” Twilight giggled. “That was so corny,” she placed a hand of her own over his. “I would be delighted, my knight.”
Walking to the stage in a slow rhythm as well as other couples, the music began to adjust to a more recognizable tune, Tango.

Suddenly Spike held Twilight tightly against his body looking right into her eyes, grabbing one of her hands with his own while his free arm was wrapped around her slender waist. The music carried on and soon the dancing began.

Nothing fancy or spectacular, it was a simple close dance for most of the couples, save one or two who decided to show off, Spike decided on holding Twilight close to him but gave her enough room to move freely, never gazing apart from her face and eyes.

“I didn’t know you could dance tango, Spike.” Twilight whispered next to his left ear.

“You can thank Cadence for that, but I am more impressed YOU learned how to dance.” Spike snickered back at her, whispering to her ear.

“Ha ha, very funny, but I guess you’re right,” Twilight allowed herself to rest her head against his shoulder space. “You are so warm, Spike.”

“So are you.”

The song began to die down when a sudden horrible noise was heard. It caught all the presents attention to be focus on the cocking table, it’s assorted skewers and dishes trembling. A pot began releasing a heavy dose of steam bubbling and boiling as its content were heated to dangerous levels.

“DUCK!” the chef shouted and most did, except for some on the dancefloor, then the cooking pot tipped over, letting out hiss, before sending almost all of the skewers forward like deadly spears.

*Clang* *Clang* *Clang* *Clang* *Clang* *Clang*

“SPIKE!” Twilight shouted from her ducking place, seeing Spike standing in front of a couple of griffons in line of the deadly attack, even in her position she could all the skewers jammed into his scales. Thoughts of pierced skin and bleeding organs rushed through her mind as he stood motionless. “SPIKE!” She shouted again, getting up and ready to help him, the rest of the presents were stunned by the action and before any female could scream in horror or panic, the skewers fell to the ground, their metallic ends twisted and crushed.

“Y-young lad, a-are you alright?” The griffon male said behind him.

Spike turned around smiling at Twilight and everyone else there. A sigh of relief escaping his lips “I am glad to see you are okay. You are fine, aren’t you?” He asked the griffon couple before a blob of yellow and purple smashed into him.

The blob had begun hugging him tightly and firmly “You idiot! You scared me half to death!” Twilight said. “You are such an idiot, Spike! I thought………I thought I was going to lose you!!” Hot tears descended from her eyes, a mix of panic, anger, but most of the tears shed were those of joy that he was alright.

Spike returned her hug. “Hey Twi, it’s ok, I’m fine and I’m not going anywhere, I will stay at your side as long you want me.” Letting Twilight calm herself down on his chest he turned to the still stunned griffon from the entrance. “Swift Claw, was it?”

“Y-yes Sir.”

“How much do I owe you? I think we are going to retire now.”

“I-it’s on the house, kind sir.”

Spike nodded in approval and began to walk outside the restaurant, holding Twilight by his side, still trying to calm her down.

-----------------------------------------------------------------****************************************

Back at their hotel Spike was lying on his bed, ready to call it a night when the sound of a door opening caught his attention, turning on his light he saw Twilight standing on the doorstep of the access door in her usual night garments. Spike knew what she wanted and simply moved to his side, parting the covers, allowing her a place to rest.

Twilight walked to the side of the bed and sat down on the free space, quickly adjusting herself to rest her head over Spike’s chest. Spike began running his claw through her mane, picking at the loose ends, straightening them out, playing with her hair as he saw fit. Twilight showed no discomfort or signs of inching away from his ministration A couple of minutes passed before Spike broke the silence.

“Are you ok now?” He asked, concerned about his friend.

“Yeah, I think I am.” She took a deep inhale, “I’m sorry for freaking out.”

“It’s fine, Twi,” Spike answered. “You look very cute when you freak out.” Twilight giggled. “Are you going to return to your room or do you want to stay here for the night? With me of course, just in case you need more reassurance.”

Twilight didn’t answer but instead she cuddled against his scales further and further, allowing her body to press freely against him.

“I don’t know if I’m going to be able to sleep tonight, I’m just very happy right now.”

Another moments of silence followed.

“Then just use your sleeping spell on yourself.”

Time froze as soon as he said that and then he could feel Twilight shiver, her heart trying to escape her chest, she became icy-cold, sweat fell from her forehead and her eyes shrank to the size of pebbles. She was almost in a state of panic.

“H-h-how….l-long?” Twilight managed to ask, still in his embrace, not daring to move a single muscle.

“About a month actually.” He said almost calmly.

“S-Spike,” Twilight said, looking up at him. “I Swear with Celestia at my witness that I did it because I didn’t know how to pro—“ a scaly finger shushed her lips.

“I already know, Twi, how you feel towards me, why you fell in love with me, even way before my growth spurt, everything.” Spike chuckled. “You really love to talk after you are done.”

“Honestly at first I was freaked out, but I decided to play the fool, to find out what you were planning and my own……feelings” Spike looked to the ceiling. “It was very confusing at first but the funny thing is I grew to the idea fast and soon I began to enjoy it too.”

“Spike……you…….you said you had feelings?”

“Yeah………….call me crazy Twi, but I have always seen you as more than a friend, more than a sister but seven or six months ago everything changed, I don’t know how or why, but I fell in love with you.” he said, looking straight into her eyes.

“Why….why didn’t you say anything!?”

“Because I was, or at least I think I was, in love with Rarity, then I noticed just how hot and sexy you are, Twilight”

Without anything more to say or wait for Twilight launched herself against Spike’s lips, kissing him softly and he kissing her back in return, it wasn’t a hungry kiss, it was a slow passionate one, a kiss that talked with feelings for one another.

When the kiss ended Twilight hugged the dragon with all her might, Spike hugged her back.

“Oh Spike! I’m so happy right now!” Small tears of happiness filled her eyes. “I’m so happy you understand and that you forgive me!”

Told you.’ Her conscience snickered.

“Yeeeeahh………about that,” Spike forced the hug apart for a moment. “I understand alright, but I haven’t forgiven you, you used me Twilight, no matter how you look at it, you were using me against my will for a long time,” Spike looked at her eyes deeply. “And I think now is the perfect time to get retribution.”

“Eh?” Twilight said, totally unprepared for that answer.

Spike smiled hungrily at her.
