It was Spitfire's last day, WBA was officially closing for the summer. She could honestly say it hadn't been bad, but now that she was clearing out her desk, she just realized how much she wanted to stay. She saw an old album, photos, medals and trophies, all of which she had forgotten about until that present moment. How she longed to look through them all, but there was only a hour until the WBA was closing, and she had so much to do...
"Spitfire, ready to lock the place up for the Summer? Sorry, I know I said that we had an hour, but a certain cyan mare wanted to meet me, and... I can't say I want to miss it..."
Spitfire jumped at the voice, only to realise it was her fellow Wonderbolt, Soarin. She laughed.
"You and that Rainbow Dash, I sometimes wonder what you really get up to!" Spitfire joked, only to see that the Greyish stallion had turned a bright version of scarlet. After a few seconds of awkward silence, Soarin mumbled
"I'm just gonna go now..." and shuffled towards the door.
" C'mon Soarin, you know I'm just joking around, I'm not serious! You've told me many a time that you guys are just friends, and that is what I believe to be true, at least that is what I THINK is true.." Said Spitfire, once again looking behind her to see a once again crimson wonderbolt standing behind her, sweating beneath his mop of ruffled hair, the day had once again been tough, especially as today was the last day, and this lead to his hair being a lot more ruffled than usual.
"Spit, I know what you really think, stop trying to cover it up.''
The office fell quiet for a moment, apart from Spitfire, who was now cursing under her breath, angry at herself for nearly losing another friend.
"Soarin, I'm sorry... I don't mean any of it I swear, just, let's not fall out about it? Please?"
The colt sighed, half out of annoyance that his friend just mocked him, and the other half that this hadn't happened just once.
" S'okay Spit, but no more, K?"
Spitfire nodded quickly, glad that her companion was so forgiving, otherwise this would have been the last time they would have spoken.
With a quick glance at his watch, Soarin gave Spitfire the keys and said a muffled G'bye, and flew off into the direction of the Rainbow Manor. Spitfire, now alone in the building, felt awkward. She was used to this place being full of laughter and cheer, and now it was deserted, lonely. It reminded her of when...
No.
Spitfire was not going to let herself remind her of those times. Even though they had sprung up in her mind a lot more recently...
Just... No.
Dazed by the happenings of just then, Spitfire fumbled around her office desk, looking for things she had put there long ago, things that were from that time she couldn't think back to... until she realized what she was doing, and slammed her hoof back down on the ground: she couldn't trust it.
It was hopeless.
Her mind tumbled back through her memories, searching for the one she had lost many years ago. It travelled through them, until at the very back, it was found. Forgotten and alone, stowed there for years.
