Brothers Of Element

Prologue

'I have created them in hopes my brother could be turned over to the light once again. But, it seems as though I'm not a worthy wielder of my own creations.
Shadow has been corrupted by his very namesake. He has joined Discord's army.
He does not obey the mad king, he only smiles anymore when blood is shed.
Whatever has taken ahold of Shadow, knows the elements will stop him and it is coming to destroy them.
I have hidden the strongest element from the world and cast a spell on them. I cannot begin to imagine the chaos he would create if the demon is to remain in control.
He is already lost in the shadows, but the elements will help him.
Though, I cannot see into the future more than a thousand years, I feel the proper wielders will come forth around that time.
I have decided to use the petrification spell to turn my brother and I to stone. I hope you will forgive me.
And I know you will be a great and fair leader. You shall be loved by your subjects.
I know when your parents died I promised I would keep you safe. Though, I must do this for everypony.
I promise you both, Celestia and Luna, your parents' death was not in vain and you will see everything after the final battle.'

Angel rolled the parchment up. He burnt a wax seal and stamped it on the letter. The image of paw prints showing on the red wax.
He picked the scroll up and looked around the room he was standing in. He saw a dimly lit wooden room. Various books lined up on the various bookshelves that were carved into the walls.
He snapped his fingers. The scroll was enveloped in light and vanished.
He walked into a room where a blue and very old unicorn sat in the middle of the floor. He had a long white beard and bushy eyebrows.
The pony was dressed in a robe and pointy hat with the exact constellations of the night sky stitched into them.
He was reading at least five books as they circled around his head. Skimming them as they went by.
The unicorn started hacking and coughing, violently forcing his magic out. He dropped the books to the ground.
Angle ran to his side and dropped to his knees. He threw his arms over the pony's shoulders to steady the old stallion.
"Oh git with you I'll not be struck down by a few hacks and sniffles," the bearded stallion said with a stern voice, pushing the white wolf away from his side.
"Starswirl I have decided to us-"
Angel was silenced by the unicorn, putting a hoof over his muzzle.
"Yes, I know you've decided to use the spell you've made."
"Yes, I'm sorry. But you can't be sad. I-"
The old stallion put a hoof to Angle's muzzle once again, silencing him.
"Yes Angel, I know. I couldn't be prouder of your sacrifice to a cause greater than yourself. But I still have a right to be sad. You are sacrificing yourself after all. I've already lost Shadow and now I am to lose another son."
The blue unicorn was speaking shakily now, letting a few tears slide down his face.
"Starswirl, you will always be my father. You've raised Shadow and I since we were pups." Angel said. He got up and walking over to a desk.
"I know, but you two are immortal. I won't even be here long enough to see you reach your true potential." Starswirl choked out, wiping a tear away.
Angel did not answer, instead he opened a drawer and took out a pair of black gloves. He wore them to improve his magical prowess.
He walked past Starswirl and stood in front of a mirror, looking at his grey armor. The perfectly fitting armor felt unusually natural to him.
The dark grey chest-plate had a heart skewered with a bone painted on it.
The chain sleeves fit snuggly agaist his arms. They came to an end at a pair of stainless steel bracers, set right before his black gloves. His pants were snug fitting chain wrapped in a full metal. They were dark grey with a sheath for his blade.
Starswirl walked over to Angel, staring in the mirror alongside him. "I know you'll save him, someday."
"I hope."
"Angel, please promise me something?"
"Yes, Starswirl?"
"Do not forget who you are, he's still your brother. You have to promise you won't kill him," Starswirl said, levitating a sword to Angel.
Angel turned and grasped it. "I promise." He pulled the stallion into a tight hug.
The stallion returned the warm embrace as tight as his weakened muscles could manage while sobbing openly into the metal shoulder plate.
Their obvious goodbyes were cut off by the door opening. Behind it was a large stallion holding a spear in the crook of his foreleg.
"Guardian Angel, it's time to go." The huge red stallion's deep voice echoed around the room when he spoke.
"Please, Commander Apple, call me Angel. I don't like my first name," Angel said, getting up and snapping his fingers.
A bright light enveloped Angel's head and when it faded, he was wearing a battle helmet modified to fit his wolflike head.
"Eeyup got it, I'll no longer use your name," the stallion said knowingly.
Angel rolled his eyes and stood up. He sheathed his sword and walked out with the stallion, a single tear rolling down his cheek.
Angel stopped. Turning around to look at the massive tree. 'I'm going to miss this place.'

In a desolate wasteland, two armies stood. Ready to die for their rebellion for the hope of freedom.
At least one hundred thousand ponies on either side of Angel.
A single blow of a horn signaled the arrival. The arrival of one of the greatest enemies known. And they were only out for one thing...Blood.
This was the mass of Discord's army. Easily one million things. These weren't ponies, not anymore.
These "things" had been driven mad a long time ago. Discord had made them psychotic, bloodthirsty. And it was all thanks to his brothers help.
Angel took his helmet off and turned around to look at his men. They all stared back, fear, bravery, and honor in their eyes.
"Look at you!" Angel yelled.
"Do you know what I see when I look at all of you?! I see Magic, I see Loyal ponies!! I see Honest, hard working ponies!!
I see Kind and Generous ponies, fighting for better lives for their children!! And you should all but shake in Laughter, not fear!"
Angel turned and pointed at the massive army. "And look at them! Those 'things' want to take away everything; your brothers, your sisters and everypony that just wanted peace and love in the world!! WHAT ARE YOU GONNA DO?!"
Angel turned back to his men, looking over them seeing the sign of hope and the army seemed to get bigger.
"YOU ARE FREE PONIES!! NOW SHOW THEM WHAT FREEDOM MEANS!"
The army gave a battle cry that absolutely screamed of hope and bloodlust. Angel put his helmet on.
Angle dropped to all fours and ran towards the opposing army.
Halfway there he jumped onto two legs and drew his sword, holding it up and leading the charge at the enemy.
It seemed as though time slowed. Angel threw his hand out at the last second. He pushed a spear point to the ground and swiped his sword across the owner's neck.
Angel ran at another, jumping as he stabbed the pony, cutting clean through the armor.
He pulled the blade out and kicked the body in front of him. It flew a good five feet through the air, hitting a number of ponies as it did.
He held a hand out. "Luce!!"
Suddenly a ball of light flew from his palm and hit a pony. The pony instantly burst into flames and started screaming madly.
Angel ducked, dodging a spear that was meant for the back of his head.
He did a summersault forward and grabbed a unicorn, he twisted its neck and ripped its head off. He quickly threw it at the earth pony that tried to stab him, impaling it's horn in his right eye.
~~2 hours later~~
Angel had probably killed hundreds maybe thousands of ponies by now. And they weren't letting up. His army was waning.
He had to do something. He sheathed his sword and drew a circle in the ground with his claws. The white wolf sat in the circle and began chanting, "lumen amplectere, lumen amplectere, lumen... amplectere." large flames started shooting out of the place the circle was drawn.
Tears started dripping down Angel's face. The amount of pain was blurring his vision. Angel was slowly torturing himself, by the sixth time the Latin words came out of his mouth he was bleeding out of his nose and the watery tears turned bloody.
A dome of flame formed around the white wolf. And he shakily stood up. The flame turned to a bright light he threw his hands in the air. "EMBRACE!!! THE!!! LIIIIGHT!!!" Angel screamed, throwing his hands in front of him sending the dome in every direction.
A light enveloped what was left of his army and all the living were teleported beside him.
Angel fell to his hands and knees. Gasping for air.
"Angel?!" The big red stallion yelled, running to angles side.
"Ugh I'm alright," he said as the red stallion helped him up. Angel got up and grabbed a spear from a dead body.
"FOR FREEDOM!!!" In an instant the large shield burst outwards and Angel's army ran out. They ran screaming valiantly only to stop at the sight of something horrific.
Discord's entire army lay dead. Only one was standing, laughing. "Angel..." The dark figure threw its arms out in front of it and the whole land seemed to get darker.
The thousands left of Angel's army were enveloped in blackness. Angel only looked in shock and horror at his brother.
Shadow was like an animal. He was shirtless, covered in the blood of others. The only clothes he was wearing were pure black pants and a thick pair of black leather boots.
He pulled a rose out of his pocket and threw it at Angel the rose was half black and half red.
Angel caught the rose in his hand and looked at it. He was snapped out of it when Shadow rammed his shoulder into his chest. The heavy hit sent him skidding a good fifteen feet across the ground.
Angel released his sword and the rose on impact and the black and grey wolf caught the flower in his mouth. He took the flower and smelled it before puttin it neatly back in his pants pocket.
Shadow's threw his hand to his side and in an instant a black sword much like Angel's silver one appeared in his hand.
"Angel...I-I'm... G-G-Going to k-k-k-kill you... a-a-and then I'm going to make your brother eat your flesh..."
He laughed maniacally and twitched. The grey coated wolf blew some of his black and red hair out of his eye and then ran at Angel.
Angel ran at his brother and ducked under a stab from his sword. Angel grabbed his arm and twisted it behind his back making him drop the blade. Angel kicked the blade away from them.
Shadow whipped his head back and hit Angel on the nose. Causing his white brother to stumble back and tripped over a rock. Shadow turned around and jumped on top of his brother.
He started punching him in the face, raining bomb after bomb to his face. Shadow grabbed Angel's helmet and pulling it off.
Angel quickly threw his hands up in front of Shadow's face. "Luce!" Angel called, sending a small ball of light directly in his brother's face.
Shadow was knocked off of Angel. The white and grey coated wolf got up before his white brother and ran towards him.
Angel recuperated quickly, rolling out of the way of a kick that would most certainly have broken some ribs.
Shadow backed up, grinning wildly. "Get the fuck up!"
Shadow kicked at Angel again, this time connecting with his stomach. The kick threw the white wolf into a stone witch cracked on impact.
Angel got to his feet. He was standing there breathlessly and looking at his younger brother or what looked like him.
His face was bruised and bloodied from the assault of punishing strikes he had just endured. It was as if his helmet hadn't protected him at all.
Angel got into a fighting stance that spoke of skill and years of training, while Shadow just put his fists up.
Shadow ran at Angel, swinging wildly.
Angel ducked under a haymaker and threw an uppercut at his body and then another under his jaw. Angel finished the combination with a strong knee to Shadow's stomach.
Shadow was stunned by this. Angel saw the look and a split second later, Angel wrapped his arms around his.
He picked Shadow up and threw him to the ground as hard as he could. Angel climbed on top of his brother.
He threw punch after punch unto Shadow's jaw, before finally climbing off and grabbing him by the neck.
Angel lifted Shadow up and threw him against a huge boulder. It exploded into little fragments upon contact.
Shadow crashed into pile of bodies. After a good minute of silence he started laughing maniacally. "I will savor the taste of your flesh... I'm going to make your brother howl in pain."
'That wasn't Shadow's voice,' Angel thought.
Shadow Grasped his head pulling at the black and red hair that lay atop it.
'Good, Shadow is putting up a fight...the demon is weak enough for the spell,' Angel pondered, he thought out his next move as he did with every move he made.
Angel started jogging toward Shadow. He closed his eyes for a few second before opening them to reveal pure white, glowing orbs for eyes.
He ran at an unnatural speed towards his brother but before they could make contact, Angel screamed a single word.
"Obrigescunt!!"
Then, it all stopped. The battlefield went dead silent save for the crackling of fires and the crows.
