Our's Is Just to Do and Die
A heavy rolling fog enveloped the edges of the runway. The oppressing mist swarmed the multitude of ponies scattered around the air strip. Try as they might to repel the oncoming fog, the pegasi simply flew through the amassing cloud base without even scattering a few wisps. What has once been a warm, cheery, blue sky had turned into a dome of grey.
“Celstia damn this Kinglish weather,” muttered Silver Eagle to himself. "Sergeant Valkyrie, what the hey is going on?"
"I'm not sure Colonel. It appears that the Weather Corps aren't able to effect the clouds. I think that it has to do with how far we are from Equstria. The pegasi aren't able to connect with the clouds. We can still stand on them but we are powerless to move them," replied the non-commissioned officer, grimacing at the growing fog base.
"Buck! There is no way that we can get these aircraft to lift off the tarmac in this weather," grumbled Silver Eagle. "Alright I am making a command decision. No jump tonight, we have to push it back to tomorrow if we want any hope of getting there alive. Sergeant, gather the troops and break the news, then tell the team to meet in my tent."
"Yes Sir, I'll go tell the troops," Valkyrie replied with a quick salute and jogged off to rouse the ponies milling about the airstrip.
Colonel Silver Eagle returned the salute barely paying attention to the retreating NCO. Turning back to the airstrip and the grounded troop transport aircraft. Sighing once more at the resilient fog that was still rolling in off of the Kinglish Channel.
"Count you blessings now, while you still can Reltih, for they will soon run out." Silver Eagle muttered to the darkening sky. "Run and hide you murderous bastard, The Raptors are on our way."
