A Friend Needed To Save The Worldby FireBeatChaptersPrologue - Friends?Chapter 1 - The Weather PonyChapter 2 - The Alicorn LibrarianPrologue - Friends? With the wind under her wings and her speed increasing, Firebeat felt alive. Faster and faster she flew, beating her competitor with a great distance. She didn't really want to stop, but the finish line was right in front of her, about a hundred feet away... ninety feet... eighty feet... sixty five feet... she was building more speed... forty five feet... Boom! she stopped so violently, there was a small air expulsion, and Firebeat landed at the WonderBolts Academy, which was closed, for it was spring break. She won, of course. she was the fastest in her class in her local Flight School in Cloudsdale, why, sometimes she felt as the fastest flyer in the whole Equestria, but she new better than that. She was very fast, but no more than that. she is just a young mare, in her last years in school, and so it happens that she's the fastest in her class, but there are clearly faster than her, In other classes, schools, and towns around Equestria. But it was nice, sometimes, to imagine she was the fastest racer in the world, soaring the sky, with millions and millions of fans screaming and hollering... "... Al.. Alright Fi... Fire... You Won... Gimme a second to... Catch my breath..." Her competitor finally arrived, five minutes after her, sweating and panting. He was about her age, with a short greyish blue mane and pure blue coat. So different from Firebeat, who had a mash up of yellow and orange for her mane and neat sunset orange for her coat. Wind Duster seemed to be quite an elegant, quiet stallion, but when you get to know him, he's a loud, messy and fast pony. But he WAS smart, when he wanted to. "You're loosing it, W.D. I guess I really overdid it. I couldn't guess you couldn't fly five miles" she smirked. "Come on, Fire, now you're just being evil." "Ha. That's no evil, you know my evil" "Oh right, I forgot," He shoved her a bit "You're way worst!" "Shut up, loser" "Can it, show off" They looked at each other for a tense second, and burst in laugher. Those two friends were the closest friends there could be, since the first day they met in there filly kindergarten, when Firebeat shoved Wind Duster's face in his lunch. from there, they learned together in young flyers school and continued to there flight school. Always at the same class, sitting together in lunch, playing together at recess, working together on every school project. The very best friends. "What are you thinking?" They were sitting together on the roof of the WonderBolts Academy, watching the sunset. Marvelous colors of pink, yellow, orange and blue mixed together creating a beautiful view. They were sitting there In silence, Firebeat playing with a piece of a cloud, while Wind Duster was just sitting there, with a thoughtful look on his face. he turned, confused, to Fire. "Pardon?" "I said, what are you thinking? you look pretty disturbed." Wind moved in discomfort. "Well, its just.. You know how you said you want to go to the Advanced Flying Academy?" "Well, yea. I talk about it all the time, you know" "You bet I know" "Shut up." "Well... I don't think I want to go." 'What?" Firebeat looked at her best friend. Its been their dream since there first year at flight school, to go to the racing school, Advanced Flying Academy. It was for the top of the top flyers. the entrance examinations were cruelly tough, and then the school itself was only for the toughest flyers. But every each of the few who survive the academy, turn to the best racing pegasais of Equestria. It was Fire's biggest dream, to learn there, but she couldn't. not without her best friend. "It's just, Fire... It's just... I don't feel like I want to race my whole life. I mean, it's fun and all, but..." "Than where do you want to go?" She asked, afraid from the answer. "I was thinking about... well... going to Candrelot to a Architecture Academy." "Oh." there was an long awkward silence, which both pegasais avoided each other eyes. 'Architecture Academy?' Firebeat thought desperately 'in Candrelot? That's days away from here! Why in the name of Celestia would he go that far?' She faced Wind Duster, and when her Yellow eyes met his Grays, she managed a smile. "But we'll always stay friends, right? Friends forever and ever!" "You bet it Fire, and even a billion miles won't stop us!" "Than you can go wherever you want!" "Like I needed your permission" "Can it, Dumbass!" The both of them laughed, and as the last ray of sunlight disappeared, the two best friends were inseparable, and believed that so will stay forever. Four Years Later Chapter 1 - The Weather PonyIt was a pleasant Sunday morning for Ponyville. The sun was shining, the birds were singing, and the trees were covered with leaves in the colors of shinning yellow, bright orange and deep red, for it was fall. Rainbow Dash was up early, as usual, for an early morning exercise. The young pony probably extra spicy, for she was flying faster than a falcon who spotted his prey. Up and down, Right and left, And finally... "Erm, excuse me?" "Ah!" Rainbow Dash lost her concentration as the stranger approached her by surprise, and crushed into the cloud she was planning to land smoothly on. "Is this a bad time?" Asked the stranger, quite sarcastically. Rainbow dizzily noticed it was a female voice. She got up, rubbing her forehead, still quite unable to see well. "Oh no, not at all. Do yourself a favor, and don't scare people like that. I could've died." "Come off it, banging into a cloud barely gives you a scratch, trust me, I know. Any way, I'm new around, and I need a favor... Mind helping me?" Rainbow Dash finally looked at her. The pegasai in front of her apparently (If she could see colors right again) had a smooth dusty orange coat and spikey manes in the shades of yellow and bits of pinkish orange here and there. Her eyes were the color of the sun, and a burning fireball decorated her flank. She was carrying a bag full of notepads and books. 'Another egghead like Twilight then,' thought Rainbow Dash. 'I bet she's going to ask me where's the nearest library.' she snorted. 'Oh well, lets be nice.' "Sure, what is it?" Asked Rainbow the pegasai. "Well, It's actually two favors..." "Shot it." "The first one is, what does it feel like?" "Err... What?" "You know, to stand on solid ground? Is it sharp? Does it hurt?" Rainbow Dash looked at her, 'This Mare had gone nuts!' She thought. The orange pony must have noticed this, for she hurried to explain herself. "You see, I'm from Cloudsdale, and I never set a foot on earth before, so it just interests me how it is. Now that I come and think about it, in that stupid Advanced Flying Academy I barely lay a single hoof on a cloud." "Oh. Well, dirty I'd say. watch out not to step in mud, if you even know what that means..." "Shut up. I know what's mud... I think..." "Hold on, did you say 'Advanced Flying Academy?' as in, the best flying academy?! You learn there? you?" "Ha ha yea, don't I look like a AFA student?" Asked the pony, amused. "No, it's just..." Stammered Rainbow Dash, "You know, you just didn't look... Well, cool enough, with all those notepads and books." There was an awkward silence, and Rainbow started to think she might hurt the pegasai, when suddenly the pony began laughing. "What's so funny?" "We're so alike," She said, "I would've thought I was a egghead too, believe me. Jeez, I really hate walking around with those stuff, they're really heavy, you know. By the way, I don't think I had introduced myself. Never got the chance, I guess. I'm Firebeat." Firebeat pulled a hoof. "Rainbow Dash." She said and shook the hoof. "So," Rainbow started, "Why do you walk around with all this, then?" "Oh," Said Firebeat happily, "you see, I got this school project, and we are supposed to check the influence of friction on 450 Mph racing flight, It's affect on the wings and so. Racing isn't all about strength and power, you know, its a lot and a lot of mathematics and physics. and when I say a lot I mean a lot. So now I'm here for two months in Ponyville." "Wow,"Said Rainbow Dash, "And there's me thinking you're going to ask me where's the library any minute." "Actually, I do need the library," said Firebeat. "But that's not my second favor." "Than what is it?" Asked Rainbow Dash. "Come on, don't leave me hanging!" "Id like to have a fun race," Said Firebeat, finally landing on the road, after looking at the ground carefully for a while, and every time her hoofs were millimeters away from the ground, pulled them back up. "What?" asked Rainbow Dash as she landed quickly next to Firebeat, who now picked a rock and examined it carefully. "Me?" "Yea. When I just got here I saw you flying, and I really felt like racing you. What's this?" she asked after putting down the rock and picking up a blade of grass. "Grass. Racing me?" "Hmm.. Pretty epic. Sure, you know. For fun. No prize or something. It'll be a help for my project." she trotted forward happily, examining the fine Fall day. "Nah, we have a lots of this everywhere. Well, okay then. where does it start and end?" Said Rainbow, catching up with her. "How about from this tree to that one over there? You see it? Warming for me." She said. "That's all? You got it. On the count of three." said Rainbow, as they both took position next to a tree in the shades of gold and red. "One," Said Rainbow Dash. Both ponies leaned forward. "Two," Said Firebeat. Both stretched their wings. They looked at each other. "Three!" They screamed together and took of a glint of orange and sky blue. Rainbow Dash felt great. She was racing a AFA student, and she was wining. she looked back to check on her contestant, and VROOM! she past her so fast that it seemed that her tail was on fire. 'Focus Dash,' She told herself. 'After all, you are the pony who did the sonic rainboom, not her. You can do this!' and fairly enough, she took speed and caught up with Firebeat. The race was very tight. Rainbow Dash is leading no, Firebeat, no, Rainbow, no, Firebeat, Rainbow Dash, Firebeat, Rainbow, Fire, Dash' Fire ---- "It's a tie." breathed Firebeat. "Yea, I felt it." panted Rainbow Dash. Both pegasais were sitting under the finishing-line tree, struggling for air. Race ended up in a tie, which even Rainbow Dash had to admit in. And they sat there quietly for a while, looking at the view of the beautiful Ponyville Fall. The leaves of the trees were about to fall any minute, but they needed Ponyville's help. 'The running of the leaves should be happening any minute now,' thought Firebeat, 'It would be fun to attend. Running instead of flying could be interesting.' Firebeat got up. "I got to go to work, but thanks for all your help!" "Where are you going?" Asked Rainbow, feeling sorry to lose her new twenty percent cooler friend. "I still need to go to the library. You know, A quiet place to work in. If you'll want to talk or something, I'm staying in the Ponyvile inn." "Sure, Have, erm," Rainbow choked a giggle, "fun at the library. Send a hi from me two Twilight. Purple alicorn, you can't miss her." "Ha ha Sure. See you around." Laughed Firebeat as she turned away and started walking. "Err Firebeat?" "Yea?" "Ponyville's That way." "Oh. Right" Rainbow Dash watched the carrot orange mare walk away. 'Boy,' She thought to herself, 'this pony is surely a good laugh with.' Author's Note I wanted this chapter to have all mane six in it, but I decided to give every one or two ponies a chapter. hope you enjoyed!:) leave a like if you did, and comment if you got awesome ideas or mistakes fixing for me. Ill really appreciate it!:) Chapter 2 - The Alicorn LibrarianIt was a quiet, peaceful Ponyville afternoon. The sun was shining, the birds were singing, and the streets were full of pony's doing their business, talking with friends and hanging in the park. Fluttershy was leading a duck family down the main street, and Big Macintosh was dragging a cart full with shiny, juicy, red apples. In Ponyville's library, though, things were a bit less... Quiet. "SPIKE! WHERE'S THE MAGICAL MYSTERIES BOOK?" "IM ON IT, TWILIGHT!" "WHAT THIS BOOK DOING HERE? SPIKE! WHAT IS 'BALOONS OF ALL SIZES' DOING IN SECTION 'G'?" "I DON'T KNOW TWI, I GUESS SOMEPONY RETURNED IT TO IT'S WRONG PLACE!" "WHO WOULD TAKE THIS BOOK ANYWAY?" "..." "..." "PINKIE!" In the middle of this mess, sat an orange Pegasai, burying her head under a math book. "Aren't library's supposed to be quiet?" She grunted quietly. Her table was a mess of math books, pages full of complicated calculations, pens and notepads. Of course, that was nothing compared to the mess in the room, which a purple alicorn and dragon were trying to sort. Apparently, a few hours ago, the Alicorn pony had guests. Pinkie Peek, Appleblack and Dareity, or something like that. Firebeat didn't really care. all she wanted was to work a bit on her school project before she'll go exploring Ponyville, but with all the noise at the tree library, she wasn't going to finish it any sooner. The library, despite the noise and the racket, was quite cozy. The room was circular, all covered with shelves and shelves of books, some who reached the ceiling, and some who stopped and carried globes of the world, tropical-looking statues, and glass test tubes filled with liquids of all colors, with neat windows which brought playful daylight into the room. There was an tunnel for upstairs, where apparently the librarian and her assistant slept, and stairs leading downstairs, which reached to the alicorn's lab. In the middle of the library's main floor was a golden statue of an impressive looking horse, but the most impressive thing in the room was, of course, the tiara and the five necklaces, who shined proudly in their glass cage. The Elements of Harmony, the magic of friendship. Firebeat found herself often gazing at them, at there curious glimmer, at there impressive shapes and colors. She could defiantly see these superior items save Equestria. Firebeat checked the big, old watch that was hanged above the entrance door, and sighed. It was getting late, and she won't have time to explore Ponyville. 'Studying or exploring?' She mused, 'Hours of boring reading or tons of fun and new places?' Firebeat packed up her stuff. 'I have another full two months to finish this project,' She thought to herself, 'And that's a lot of time. Besides, with all this noise, I couldn't have done anything anyways.' And with those arguments running in her mind, she thanked the librarian and turned to leave. "Already?" Asked the little purple dragon with the green spikes. "We didn't even get to know you!" 'Curse Ponyville and their over-friendly behavior.' She thought, but, with a smile she answered; "Okay then. I'm Firebeat." "The name is Spike," Answered the baby dragon proudly, "And this is princess-librarian Twilight Sparkle!" The purple Alicorn stepped forward to shake hooves. She had dark purple mane with streaks of prune and raspberry in it. her cutie mark was an five-cornered pink star with a white little star on each tip. She didn't seem to royal, but friendly and nice. Firebeat shook her hoof and half bowed awkwardly. "So where are you heading, Firebeat?" The princess asked. "Err... I'm going to tour Ponyville, princess." Answered Fire. "Don't call me princess," Laughed the princess, "Call me Twilight." "Okay, so I'm going to tour Ponyville, Twilight." She said awkwardly. "Hold on, Rainbow Dash told me to send you a hi, so... Hi." "You know Rainbow Dash!" exclaimed Twilight happily, "You're her friend, then?" "I suppose." "A friend of Rainbow is a friend of mine. Why don't me and Spike show you around? Meet you some other ponies?" "Err... I guess we could" She answered, not wanting to refuse a princess. "Than come on! I'll show you everything! Spike, drop those books and come with us!" Spike dropped the books to the already messy floor and hurried up, while Twilight already started to show her around Ponyville. "This is the Donut store, best in Ponyville, the barber shop, the shopping center, the restaurants street - Bucky's Noodles are the best, my word - Sugar Cube Corner where Pinkie lives, thought she's not home now, the wishing well, bowling alley, over there is the hospital, there's Ponyville center..." "What's that?" Firebeat pointed at dark looking woods, with high trees of all kinds and big bushes hiding the rest of the road. The whole atmosphere there whispered spooky. Fire noticed that the clouds were moving there on their own. "The Everfree Forest." Answered her Spike. "Don't ever go there." "Why?" "Because there are creatures there beyond your imagination. Evil, cruel, heartless creatures." Answered Spike with a shudder. "Thought not Everypony there is dangerous, you know," Pointed Twilight. "There's always Zecora." "Oh, right." Said Spike. "Zecora? Who's Zecora?" Asked Firebeat curiously, while trying to get a peek on the creatures beneath the dark woods. "Zecora is a zebra who lives in a little hut in the middle of the forest." Said Twilight. "A zebra? here in Ponyville?" "Yea, she's from a foreign country, and a genius. If you need to know anything about a disease, creature of magic, she's the pony... Or Zebra." "Can we go see her? I've never met a zebra before, and she might help me with my project." Back at the library, before she even started working, she told Twilight about her school project, which Twilight, still struggling to control her own wings, was merely interested in. "Nope, sorry. Zecora's out for supplies in Candrelot. But when she'll come back I'll meet you to her." "Well, so where are we going?" "Sweet Apple Acress." Said Spike, "Applejack and Pinkie Pie are making some apple treats together, and boy, I'm hungry." Twilight rolled her eyes. "Okay," Said Fire, "Than lets get going." After a few minutes of walking they reached a big white gate with a sign that read: "Welcome To Sweet Apple Acres" and a drawing of a juicy, red apple on it. "There you are, Sweet Apple Acres!"
