A grey unicorn with a mic and a clipboard popped her head out of the curtains and then looked over at the greyish earth pony. "Octavia. Your on in 30." The mare looked up from the phone and nodded at the unicorn. "Alright." Octavia looked down at the phone and sighed, Please don't fail me now Vinyl. Octavia thought to herself. The grey unicorn came back around 15 minutes later, "Octavia your on in 15." The grey earth pony didn't even look up, but she nodded anyways. "I gave you enough time, Vinyl." Octavia grabbed the phone and dialed her friend's number. "Hello?" "Hey Vinyl, It's Octavia." "Oh Hey Octi! Wats up?" "I was wondering if your going to come to my concert cause I got a seat saved up for you." Octavia asked her friend slightly getting worried. "Aw no is that tonight? Aw geez Octi i'm so sorry I totally blanked on this one. I'm actually in the middle of working on a big project with Neon Lights right now... we've just hit a break through with the- I just don't think I'll make it to this one. I swear I'll make the next one though... I-I promise. Okay?" "It's fine..." "Awesome. Now I really got to get back to-" "Actually no, no it's not fine, Vinyl. You've done this to me before and this is a really big thing for me and your not there for me..." "Yeah I know. I-I just-" "I just can't believe you." whispered Octavia. "Octi come on. You know how my schedule can get! Look after tonight I-I swear things will be different, okay? We can go to that restaurant that you-" Vinyl tried not to argue with her best friend. "I don't want you sorry Vinyl..." "Wait, what?" Said Vinyl. Consider this friendship over." "Octavia. Come on you don't mean that! "You let me down to many times..." "Wait! No! Please O-Octavia!" Octavia sighed before hanging the phone up. "I'm sorry." The same grey unicorn came back and tapped the cello-playing mare's shoulder. "You on in 5." Octavia looked up at the mare and faked a smiled, "Okay." Octavia stopped for a minute, "Thanks." The grey earth pony walked out onto the stage and grabbed her cello's bow and started to play as the lights brightened. At Vinyl's place The white unicorn sighed, "Sorry Neon... I-I can't concentrate. I got to go..." The white unicorn got up and bolted out of her house, heading towards the stadium that Octavia was playing in. How could I be so stupid! Vinyl tried to hold back the tears. Vinyl stopped in front of a guard, "Hey come on! I'm telling you my friend's playing right now so let me in!" Vinyl glared at the guard. The guard sighed with annoyance "I said this to you already! I can't let you in, I can let you in at the interval!" The white unicorn kept glaring at the tall guard, "I don't wanna go in at the interval I wanna go in now! I need to be in there now!" The guard sighed once more, "Sorry I can't allow it." The blue-maned unicorn growled, "Fine if you want to do this the hard way we'll do this the hard way!" Vinyl puts her hoof in the air, getting ready to slap the guard when he grabs her hoof with his magic. "Don't" "No. Get off of me! I need to see her! OCTAVIA!" The unicorn screamed for her old friend, hoping she'll hear her. Back in the stadium Octavia finished playing her songs and took a bow. "Thank you..." The earth pony whispered before disappearing behind the curtain. The grey mare looked at her phone and sighed before turning around and going into her dressing room. There was a picture lying on the desk of her and Vinyl. Vinyl was playing her Cello and she was playing with Vinyl's dj system. Octavia walked over to the picture and flipped it over. There was writing on the back, Do you remember? The grey mare dropped the picture and turned away from her vanity. "Yes I do remember... But I don't want to..." Octavia sighed and took off her black bowtie and put on her usual pinkish-purplish bowtie. "I don't want to..." Octavia's manager walked into her room, "Your wanted at the interval." She sighed and headed outside, ignoring her manager's orders. "I just want to go home and go to bed..." The musical mare trotted past the guard not even noticing her old friend. "Octavia?" The grey mare froze when she heard Vinyl's voice, "Please go..." The grey mare sighed before racing off. The white unicorn raced after her ex-friend. "Please wait Octavia! I need to talk to you!" Vinyl yelled after her vanished friend. By the time Octavia got home she was soaking wet. The musical mare shook herself to try and dry off before stepping into her living room. "Ugh. Why'd she make it difficult?" The grey mare walked through her kitchen and up the stairs. She walked down the hallway and into her bedroom. Octavia laid down onto her bed as she stared up at her ceiling, listening to the steady rhythm of the rain beating down on her roof. "Is it bad that I miss her?" The grey earth pony walked over to her desk and flipped open a calendar, "Four days." Octavia shut the calendar and went downstairs. "Four full days and I'm already a wreck." The earth pony opened up the fridge and grabbed leftover pancakes. "But I carry on." Octavia sat down at the table and looked out the window. It was still dark, but you could see a pinkish tint in the horizon. "I'm Octavia and I cannot be effected by a ponyville pony!" The musical mare stomped her hoof on the table, spilling over her coffee. Octavia sighed before going into her kitchen and grabbing a few napkins. "Then why am I sad?" The cello-playing mare walked over to her phone and started to listen to her voicemails. Octavia I'm sorry! Please give me another chance! I promise I'll change! I know my mistake and I've learned from it. Can't you see how bad I feel? This is tough for me since I have a tight schedule, but I promise that I'll make room for you and your concerts! Please forgive me, Octi. Octavia looked down at her hooves as she listened to Vinyl's voicemail. "I can't forgive you." The grey mare looked at her phone before deleting all of her voicemails, "I just can't." Octavia whispered to herself before going back up into her room. At Vinyl's place The white unicorn paced back and forth in her room. "Come on Octavia please pick up." Vinyl sighed and placed her phone onto her dresser and jumped onto her bed, "Why am I so stupid?" The magenta-eyed mare looked out of her window before getting up and pulling the curtains closed. A few hours later, the phone rings which makes the heart broken unicorn jump out of bed. "Octavia!?" "Who?" A male's voice blared through the phone's speaker. "Nopony. What do you want Dad?" said Vinyl. "Oh ok. Well anyways me and your mother were wondering if you'd come over for a party that her friend is hosting?" Vinyl's dad asked with a begging tone. "You want me to come to Las Pegasus?" "Of course! And you can bring your boyfriend too!" Vinyl's dad tried not to laugh. "Who?" "Neon lights? North Lights? Something like that." Vinyl's face became red in embarrassment, "Neon isn't m-my boyfriend!" "Okay!" Vinyl's dad sarcastically said. "Look Dad I'll be there." "Good! It's in a week so be ready cause' I wanna see you before then!" Vinyl's dad said his goodbyes before hanging up. The white unicorn sighed before heading to her bed again. "I really don't want to go anywhere though." Vinyl jumped back onto her bed. The magenta-eyed mare huddled in her blankets as she watched her alarm clock's arms slowly move from the twelve to the one. Vinyl felt her eyes slowly closing as she fell into a deep slumber. A day later The white unicorn sat up in her bed and rubbed her weary eyes. "Gosh I'm hungrier than a horse!" Vinyl stretched her arms and hopped out of bed, heading towards her phone. "Still no calls from Octavia." The unicorn hopped back into bed for her hooves felt heavier today. "How can she just end our friendship? We've been through so much and then out of know where she's like "Consider this friendship over!" I know what I did was wrong, but everypony makes mistakes!" Vinyl growled with annoyance, "Why can she see the pain that she's putting me through!?" Vinyl sighed before putting her face into her pillow. Vinyl slowly made her way down to the door. Somepony was ringing her doorbell, she tried to ignore it, but the pony wouldn't go away so Vinyl was forced to open the door. "Dude! Vinyl why haven't you answered any of my phone calls!?" Neon Lights tilted his head in confusion. The white unicorn sighed, "I know. I know! There's just this... thing... that I've been stressing over..." said Vinyl. Neon nodded to his friend, "Alright. Is it okay if I come in?" Vinyl nodded and then left Neon light come into her house. The green stallion walked into his friend's living room and sat down. "So what are you stressing about this time?" Neon asked Vinyl when she trotted into the room. "It's more important then music this time." Vinyl sighed once more as she sat down beside Neon Lights. The stallion nodded, but you could tell he was confused. "What's more important then your career? The green pony looked at his unicorn friend before looking away. "My friendship with Octavia!" The mare snapped at him. Neon Lights sighed with annoyance, "What happened this time?" Vinyl sighed, "Long story." The white mare got up and turned on her flat-screen TV. "I'm not going anywhere." "That night when me and you were working on that big project. Well it was the same night as Octavia's concert... She called me and asked me if I was going to be there since she saved me a seat. I said that I couldn't because I was working on the project with you, well she got angry and told me to consider this friendship over..." The blue-maned mare held back her tears. "Sounds like she was jealous." Vinyl growled at her friend, "Your not helping Neon!" "Sorry." "It's okay... I just can't live without her! I'm surprised that I lived this long without hearing her nagging at me for playing my music to loud." The musical mare sighed before hopping off of the couch and heading back into the kitchen.
Sad MelodyView OnlineDying FriendshipSad MelodyChapter 3 Sad Melody Octavia stepped out onto the stage and the lights dimmed instead of brightened, "This song is for the tough times everyone of you have had or will have..." The musical mare grabbed her cello's bow and started to play her instrument. When the concert was over she took a bow and as she came back up she saw Vinyl in the very back standing there. Octavia rubbed her eyes and like she thought... Vinyl wasn't there at all. The grey earth pony sighed and walked off the stage and into her dressing room. Please forgive me... Octi... Vinyl's words echoed in the musical mare's ears. Octavia looked at her reflection in the vanity. Worn down from barely eating and depression. The earth pony's stomach growls as she clenches it with both of her hooves. "What have I done?" The musical pony mumbled to herself. Octavia slowly made her way out of her dressing room. "Octavia are you okay dear?" The grey unicorn, also known as Octavia's manager, made her way over to the sick mare. "Yeah I'm just feeling a little sick-" Octavia was interrupted by a cough. "You should go home at once Octavia. I couldn't live with myself if you got seriously sick." Octavia nodded and made her way over to the stadium doors, "Thanks again, mage." Octavia smiled uneasily and then walked out of the door heading towards her home. The mare had to stop a few times to catch her breath, or to think about her old best friend. We've been through so much. How could I just throw that away like it was a crumbled up piece of paper? The classy mare sighed unhappily. The earth pony looked around before unlocking her front door, "I have to apologize to her... I just have too." Octavia blinked a few times before trying to go upstairs. After her third attempt of falling, Octavia grabbed a bottle of Tylenol off of the kitchen counter. The musical mare walked over to her couch with a glass of warm milk. The grey earth pony took some pills and washed them down with her milk, "I-I'll apologize tomorrow... I don't feel so good." The grey mare yawned before curling up in a ball on the couch. Yeah. I'll apologize tomorrow for sure. Octavia fell asleep with that one thought in her head. Vinyl The white unicorn walked around Ponyville with her friend Neon Lights. "So will you go to my parent's party?" The green stallion looked up at the clear sky and then back down at Vinyl, "Of course!" "Great! We're leaving tomorrow so be ready!" Vinyl smiled before racing back to her house to start packing. The magenta-eyed mare shut her suitcase and dragged it downstairs before looking up at her clock, "I've been packing since eight o' clock." The unicorn shook her head at the clock before retreating to her bed. "And I'm beat." Vinyl yawned and then slowly laid in her bed and pulled the covers over her. The white mare laid there until her eyes closed as she softly snored.
