The Moment Of Truth

Previous Chapter

"Dr. Wavelength to test chamber nine please, Dr. Wavelength please report to test chamber nine." the voice on the intercom said.

"Fuck!" Wavelength said to himself as he began to run down the halls, "I'm late!".

Wavelength had worked at Arbeit for about five years prior to the beginning of the Genesis project. He had a lot of involvement in the project himself, and was one of the first to see the projects completion. He had volunteered to test the device as soon as it was ready, as he considered himself to be one of the main contributors to the project. He often stayed in the lab all night, trying to finish the project himself., he wasn't very pleased when he found out that the project was finished without him.

"Hey Wavelength!" a security officer said, "Running late again?".

"Maybe. Whats it to you?" Wavelength replied.

"Oh, nothing." the security officer said "Just curious.".

Wavelength sighed, "Where is my lab coat?" he asked.

"Here." The officer turned around and opened a locker, Wavelength floated the coat over to himself.

"Thanks Sunbeam, how about a  beer later?" Wavelength asked.

"I just might have to take you up on that." Sunbeam replied, "Let me open the door for you.".

The large hydraulic door opened up into a large, rocky cavern.

"Don't fuck this up." Sunbeam said.

Wavelength stepped into the cavern, two other hatches opened. Inside one, Wavelength could see some of the research team at the control panel. In the other, Wavelength saw Celestia herself, silently judging everything, well, at least Wavelength thought she was doing that.

"Dr. Wavelength," a voice said "Are you ready to begin?".

"Yes." Wavelength replied.

Wavelength walked over to the device, it looked like a cylinder, about the size of a work desk in an office. Wavelength walked over to the control panel. "Are all systems ready?" Wavelength asked, "Scans show green across the board." the voice answered., "Proceed". Wavelength began to fiddle with the control panel.

SYSTEM READY

Wavelength began to type.

BEGIN SYSTEM OPERATION 14

Wavelength was startled by the devices response.

WARNING! TYPE 5 LIFEFORMS DETECTED! F.E. DEPLOYMENT IS NOT RECOMMENDED!

Wavelength ignored the response, and continued to type.

CONTINUE OPERATION 14

COMMENCING...

Wavelength stepped away from the console and ran to the other side of the room. Te device began to shake and rumble, and the entire chamber was filled with a bright green light and plants began to grow out of both the floor and the ceiling, in the course of five minutes the entire chamber was full of lush, green, plants. The research team began to cheer and laugh, and Celestia looked pleased. Now all that the teams needed to do was test the device two more times, and only then would the project be complete.
