Memories of the Canterlot wedding flowed through my mind. Almost like a fresh wound. We didn’t die. Oh no much worse. We are starving.
I trotted through the empire looking at the despair through the land. It almost made me want to cry. Almost. Our queen has not came out of her castle ever since she lost what she called ‘The Salvage Of a Lifetime’.
So much for that idea.
Starving Changelings everywhere, the children crying, I know what I must do. I flew into my little house and packed up some bags.
“Hey Ditto where are you going?!” I turned around to see my longtime friend Mimic.
“To Ponyville,”
Mimic gasped. “You can’t leave me here!”
“Come with me then,”
“I can’t!”
“Why?”
“You know already!”
Mimic was not changeling or pony. She was a hybrid. How did it happen? I do not know. But all I know is that Ponyville, Cloudsdale, or Manehattan did not accept hybrids. The Changeling Army does not want her but they took her in anyway. Everyone except for me treats her like dirt. I sighed “You’re right. You will die here.” I was the only person to take care of her and if I were to leave she would be beat to death.
“I’m so sorry Mimic,”
Since Mimic was neither pony nor changeling it gave her excruciating pain to transform. Tears pricked her eyes. “It’s fine, you need to go I will find a way to survive.” She said with a crack in her voice. I liked Mimic. Not in a crush way as a friend way. All the other male changelings made fun of me because I liked to be with her. “Goodbye Ditto, I will hope to see you again,” she sobbed. “Goodbye, Mimic,” I responded.
Just as I turned around to leave I heard “Ditto,”
“Yes,”
“Take care of yourself,”
I smiled as I trotted off for a new start.
I headed to a place rumored to give changelings a disguise that no pony else has. In what was a barren wasteland I saw a shack that said ‘Neon Splash’s Disguises’ “Well this must be it,” I breathed out as I stepped into the old shack. Inside the shack there were littered spray paint cans everywhere. “H-hello? Is anypony here?” I stuttered. “I will be right out!” a sweet voice yelled from the back room. A few seconds later a Neon blue and green Pegasus strolled out. “Oh hello would you like to get a disguise? Free for newcomers!” The mare said in a cherry voice. “Yes. I would like that,” I replied.
“All righty then, just take a seat on that there chair.” She tilted her head to a chair dentists use while she put on goggles. I nervously sat on the chair. “Okay let’s get started,” Neon Splash said, “Male or Female?”
“Male.”
“Happy or sad?”
“Sad?”
She lifted up her goggles and gave me an unsure look. “Are you sure?” “Yes I am sure.” “All righty.”
She asked me a few more questions before she started. The brightly colored Pegasus talked a lot and I mean A LOT! Apparently something called the Wonder Bolts had asked her to join them but she had declined. Also apparently when she was young she decided to mess with her father’s spray paint and that is how she discovered her cutie mark (a spray can bottle spraying a neon lightning bolt). “By the way what do you want your cutie mark to be?” hmm the question leaped and danced around my mind. Then I thought of Mimic. She always wanted to be a cook. “A baker’s hat,” I decided. She raised her eyebrow at me. She shook her head making her braded mane whip around. The cold ink, yet again hit my body.
“You don’t talk much do ya?” Neon Splash remarked. I smiled and laughed nervously. “Well, you are good to go!” She breathed out, “Have a great ay Ditto!” she called out when I left the building. My new pony head whipped around as I said “How did she know my name?” I shrugged my shoulders and investigated myself. I was a light blue/green Pegasus with a black and blue mane and tail. I noticed that my cutie mark was not a baker’s hat but a night sky. I liked it.
I smiled to myself and trotted down the wasteland plains.
The trees were black and had holes in them like us changelings. The leaves were a glowing blue color. It was pretty. I know I can fly but, I would like to take my time, you know? Having a mane was really starting to bug me. I had to stop every five seconds to scratch my head. As I walked on, ignoring the annoying mane, I started to think about our invasion of Canterlot, finding Mimic when she was a filly/larva and everything that has ever happened. I felt sad. Sad in a good way though.
Finally, I made it to the train station. I sighed and thought to myself ‘Here we go’. The train ride was long and boring. We finally reached Ponyville. I trotted out of the train to see…her. “YOU ARE NEW HERE ‘CAUSE I KNOW EVERYPONY HERE!!!!” The pink beast yelled out to me. She got real close to me. I shied away from her and whimpered, “P-please d-don’t hurt me,” “Hurt you! I wouldn’t hurt you silly! I’m Pinkie Pie!” The be- er Pinkie Pie howled out evilly. I shuddered at the remembrance of her trying to kill us. “What is your name?” she asked sickeningly delightfully. “Ditto….” I replied full of fear. “Ditto? That is a funny word! Ditto! Ditto! Ditto” she said bouncing around. I sneaked around her while she was distracted. When she was out of sight I sighed in relief. “Howdy there partner!” I turned to look at the mysterious voice. I held my breath. It was another one of the six monsters! “Mah name is Apple Ja-” I didn’t let her finish I charge away only to run into a building. I read the sign aloud. “Ponyville Schoolhouse. “
