The rays of the afternoon sun crept slowly over the windows of the library, giving Twilight’s mind a bit of ease. For a brief second, she smiled as the warm light bathed upon her lavender coat and calmed her frantic mind. Sadly the jingling of a dog bell caught her ears, giving her a friendly reminder to keep reading.

“You find anything yet, Twi?” Spike asked as his back leg came up to his ear before he scratched at it.

“Sorry Spike, but I can’t figure out how to reverse the portal’s magic,” Twilight answered back in a very disappointed sigh as she stared at him.

It was a few days after Twilight’s adventure through the portal into the human world. After all was said and done, she and Spike returned with the crown and the situation with Sunset Shimmer was presented to Celestia. Sadly for Spike, as he came through the other side, his body did not reverse and turn himself back into a proper dragon. At the time, the only idea was to head back into the portal and come back, hoping it would work, but the portal was closed and wouldn’t open again for about a month. With Spike being trapped in his puppy body, he begged Twilight to help restore him back to normal.

“Darn. Well maybe you should take a break,” Spike said to her as he jumped on the table and looked into her face.

Taking a break was much-needed for her. Worried that the effects of the transformation were permanent, Twilight stayed up countless hours, hoping to find a way to fix him. Looking up at him, Twilight gave him a soft smile as her mind started to worry again.

Ugh, I’ve been looking for days already! Having his diet change from gems to dog food most likely did some damage to his overall system. He can barely eat the dog food and I’ve even seen him try to nibble on a ruby yesterday!

As much as she wanted to keep looking, she knew he was right. Of course, her decision to stop only got bigger as her stomach growled for food. Both of them looked to her gut and Spike started to laugh while Twilight blushed from embarrassment.

“A break would be nice, I suppose. Oh, I almost forgot that Applejack invited me over for dinner,” Twilight stated, quickly remembering that her country friend decided to treat the new princess to an Apple Family dinner to celebrate her coronation.

“Ah! Seems it’s close to dinner now!” Spike replied, turning his head to the clock. “Would be nice to get out of this place for the evening. Can I come with you, Twi?”

“Sure thing,” she replied, closing the spell book and levitating it back to a large shelf. As it floated into place, both of them left the desk and quickly made their way for the door.

“You going to try and fly there?” Spike asked, before his tail started to wag from excitement. I seriously hope she says yes, I really want to see if Dash’s practice with her has paid off.

“Mmmm, I’d rather walk,” she replied, letting her wings flap a few times before she rested them against her sides. “Last time I flew, a cold breeze hit me and my wings went stiff.”

Ugh, she’s putting off flying even with Dash’s training. I swear if it wasn’t for Celestia’s help at your coronation, you would have crashed into the ground!

“Fair enough, I guess,” Spike answered, a bit annoyed by her actions.

“So shall we head for sweet apple acres now? It’s about fifteen minutes to get there and I don’t want to be late.” Twilight opened the door, letting the warm breeze greet the both of them.

“After you, my princess,” Spike said in a teasing tone, taking a bow before her.

Twilight sighed at his efforts but couldn’t help but chuckle at them. Without saying a word, both of them made for the farm.

The walk wasn’t much with the exception for a few mares stopping to pet Spike and give him attention. Thankfully, even with his transformation, lots of the ponies in town were used to his presence. Interestingly enough he started getting much more attention. In a way, he was happy to be a dog, considering most of the better-looking mares in town loved dogs. Though he was still draconian in nature, he would let his puppy instincts take over a few times. While some mares were keen on lifting him up and nuzzling his nose, he would bark softly and lick them back. Twilight herself had no problem with it, but the way he acted was slowly turning him into a dog—permanently.

Eventually, they arrived at Sweet Apple Acres. The two trotted over to the barn and searched around for Applejack. As they started to make their way to the farmhouse, the cries of a voice Spike wasn’t used to hearing filled his ears.

“Hey Twilight, you hear that?” Spike asked her, looking around for the source of the noise.

“Hmm?” She replied as she perked up her ears to pick up any sound. “Hey isn’t that Applejack’s dog Winona?” She asked as a bark played out rather dully.

Before Spike could answer, the sound of a barn door bursting open was followed by louder barks that filled both their ears. Turning their heads to the nearby barn, they noticed the mahogany coated collie running away from a worried Applejack who was right behind her.

“I need a male! Please earth goddess, I need one so badly!”

Spike’s ears perked up at the voice of Winona. Though he had seen her lots of time during his years in Ponyville, he never heard her voice so clearly. A quick realization and he remembered his dog form allowed him to understand pets. He first discovered his new abilities when he visited Rarity and heard Opal uttering death threats against him for coming onto her owner. Feeling a sharp pain in his leg, Spike knew to never visit the boutique as a dog ever again.

“Darnit Winona, get back here!” Applejack shouted as she tried to grab onto the red leash that was dangling behind the collie.

Both Twilight and Spike said nothing as Winona’s eyes locked onto the only other dog within sight. Altering her direction slightly, Winona charged for Spike, barking wildly.

“You! Please help me!” She cried out to him, happy to know she could actually end her ordeal.

Seeing where she was heading Applejack picked up her pace and managed to grab onto the collar. Feeling her leash get pulled Winona let out a painful yelp as her body came to a sudden stop a few feet before reaching Spike.

“Is she okay?” Spike asked as Winona whimpered at her owner, wanting to be free.

“Twilight, pick Spike up with your magic will ya?” Applejack asked, worried Winona would break free and launch herself at him.

“Of course,” Twilight flared up her horn and wrapped Spike in a soft aura of magic. Lifting him up, she placed him on the back of her neck and turned focused back to Applejack.

“Please, earth goddess! I want a male! You always allow me to have a male!” The words left Winona’s mouth only coming across as frantic barks and whines to the ears of both mares.

“I take it she’s… in heat?” Spike asked Applejack, nervous that the female mutt had her heat driven eyes on him.

“Very much so, poor gal has been for the last few days,” Applejack grunted, pressing down harder on the leash. “I usually let her visit the neighbour’s dog but he got fixed last week and now there ain’t no boys around to fix her right. She ain’t taking it kindly.”

“You’re darn right I ain’t taking it kindly! You should know how horny you get when you’re in heat, earth goddess!” Winona barked at her. “Poor earthshaker always has to leave the house for the day!”

Spike felt his face turn red, hearing Winona give him a bit of insight to how Applejack’s heat cycles went. He wasn’t ignorant to the fact that ponies had cycles. He knew very well thanks to Twilight spending hours in her room trying to get herself straight, especially one time she broke a leg on her bed.

“Winona has an interesting name for you,” Spike told her, focusing his attention on the golden mare.

“Oh? Oh right, you’re a dog so you can understand her, right? I bet she’s calling me awful names right now!” Applejack chuckled at him.

“I would never call you awful names, earth goddess! You don’t deserve such mean words!”

“Nah she’s just complaining about being in heat. Why don’t you get her fixed?” Spike asked.

Both mare and dog looked at him with a cold glare.

“Hey! How about you go get your nuts snipped and tell me how it feels to be boring!”

“Hmph, maybe we should get you fixed instead wiseguy!” Applejack replied.

Spike went quiet and Twilight just chuckled at his poor word choices. Before Twilight could butt into the conversation, Applejack smiled and got an interesting idea.

“Hey, why don’t you fix her up Spike?” She asked with a grin on her face.

“What!?” Both Spike and Twilight replied shocked to hear Applejack say something so bluntly.

“You mean it earth goddess!?” Winona barked as she pranced around on the spot, ready to enjoy a boy for herself.

“Uh, no?” Spike replied, scared of the words Winona said to him as she licked her muzzle.

“You can’t be serious AJ. Spike’s a dragon and I don’t think having him uh… screw your dog, is the best thing for his current condition,” Twilight replied, taking Spike’s side in the matter.

“Oh come on, Twi. My poor gal needs a male and he’s the only one around. Besides, I highly doubt Rarity will ever sex him up now that he’s a mutt,” She teased at him, not holding back her punches.

Spike’s ears drooped down and he whined softly, knowing she gave him a low blow.

"So what if I have the hots for Rarity? I could still try!" He said to himself before Winona started to speak up again.

“You like that snotty unicorn with the stupid cat? Ugh.” Winona barked at him.

“That was kinda low AJ, but, you do have a point,” Twilight admitted knowing Spike had little to no chance with Rarity as a dog.

“What? Don’t agree with her, Twi!” Spike said, worried she would literally feed him to the dogs. “I’m still a dragon at heart!”

“Oh don’t be so boring! Besides, earth goddess is giving you the chance to tap this! Don’t you deny her words!”

“I don’t want to... uhh, rut her!” Spike started to say to Winona before shifting his voice to Applejack.

“Please!?” She screamed pulling harder on her collar.

“Oh come on, Spike. Ain’t every day a collie like my gal shows interest in a male. Besides, maybe once you turn back into a dragon you can have a bit of sexual experience on your side!” Applejack teased further, purposely letting the leash go a bit loose in her mouth. Feeling her leash become looser, Winona jumped forward, making Spike launch himself off of Twilight’s back, ready to bolt it into the apple fields.

“Applejack, don’t be silly,” Twilight spoke up, ready to go into more detail as to why it was a foolish idea.

“Hear me out, Twi,” Applejack cut in. “Look at the bright side of things. My gal gets a rut and gets pushed out of her cycle and Spike gets laid for once! Win-win right?”

Not giving her a chance to answer, Applejack looked at Spike one last time. For a brief second he saw her smirk at him before she let go of the leash completely.

“Come to momma, my meal ticket!”

Before Twilight could react and stop both of them, Spike bolted for the fields with a sex-driven female right on his heels. As Twilight lit up her horn, ready to grab both of them, Applejack stepped forward and nodded her head, grabbing Twilight’s attention.

“Don’t be like that, Twi. You know the poor boy tries hard for Rarity’s love but will never get it. I know he’s a dragon and all but for the time being let him have fun with his new form,” she said, watching Spike try desperately to climb up a tree.

“But Applejack, it’s…” Twilight replied but stopped herself as Applejack gave her a pleading look. “Ugh, fine, but if she gets pregnant Spike is not fathering them!”

“Heh, no worries, Twi. I let Applebloom take care of the newborn animals on the farm. You know, warming her up for when she’s ready for kids herself,” Applejack said to her, happy to see her friend had a slightly more open mind for them.

“Still, I hope his internal body fluids are that of a dragon. Better than making him a father at such an early age,” Twilight replied, turning her head to Spike as well, frowning at the sight of him clinging to a tree branch. “I’m more worried about the mental trauma he’ll get from this.”

“Don’t worry about it. Besides, Winona is a gal that really doesn’t get pregnant for some reason. I swear she’s had the neighbour’s dog rut her so many times, yet she’s never had a litter. Vet said something about her being… barren was it?” Applejack said, tilting her head to the sky trying to remember what the vet told her.

“Still, you can’t expect Spike to actually go through with your silly idea,” Twilight said back to her.

“Don’t worry I already said. He’ll be fine, Twi. Anyhow, want to come in and have dinner with me? We’ll let Spike fend for himself for a bit,” Applejack said to her as she tipped her stetson and looked at the dogs.

“Come down here and fuck me already!”

“No!”
