A Jar of Dark

by Ajaxis
Thadrim station has gone dark—All the lights are out, the window panes are covered, and the reserve power for life support is dwindling. A mare already blind since childhood must turn the power back on, or else the darkness will be permanent.

Penumbra has been blind since fillyhood, living on Thardrim Station all her life, accustomed to the artificial gravity and mostly synthesized food, but always an outsider because of her disability. On her next birthday, one where she would be of age to get a set of synthetic eyes, the station suddenly loses all power. Emergency protocols cause all the windows to be shut before decompression from lack of pressure regulation ensues. There is no light, only darkness, and life support is running on empty. Penumbra is given the job of finding the central generator control, and reactivating it before Thardrim station stays dark, forever.

A crossover story with The Nightjar, the iOS game wherein you have to navigate a broken spaceship with only your ears. This is also a side-story to The Trancer, my other story. I strongly suggest you read that, first, so you understand certain things that are referred to.

NOTES: Corsair the pegasus is © Fethur, who as far as I know doesn't have an account on FiMFiction, but whatever. Credit where it's due.
