Have You Forgotten Your Mission?
"Hey where am I?"
"Hello Luna."
"I said where am I!"
"Tsk tsk tsk, little Luna always letting her anger get the best of her."
"How dare you! Who our you whelp?!"
"We are the Nightmare forces. And we want to talk.."
"Talk?"
"Yes talk. About your promise."
Luna woke up with a jump, thrusting her body forward so her eyes which had seen the ceiling were now examining her wall. She panted rapidly, almost as she was hyperventilating, but alicorns do not suffer such things. But they do suffer one thing; an eternity of regret and loss. Princess Luna knew this better than anypony; even her sister Celestia had not felt nor seen the horrifying things Luna had.
The princess gasped for air slowly, taking a deep breath calming herself down, what a nightmare! She rubbed her eyes with one hoof and lifted the bedsheets of with the other as she had done many days before, but, this time she stopped halfway: a note lay on her bedside table, it's presence made her feel uneasy.
Cautiously, she used her magic to levitate the piece of paper to her face where she could clearly read it. The note was black, and on the back in bold red letters it said; 'Thirty Days'
Luna felt her blood run cold, she wanted to throw the paper away, pretend it was never there! As if nothing happened, but she couldn't, Luna's body froze. She didn't know how to react. What was she to do, this was obviously a message from the Nightmare forces as they call themselves but, what did they want? The details of her dream drifted away before she could remember!
Then the noted flashed and another sentence appeared, 'Five Star Street, Canterlot.'
Her eyes widened, a street address? She knew the Nightmare forces weren't physically alive so this wasn't their house, so who's home was it? No-pony else had ever communicated with the forces so why? Should she go? Who was there? Or what?
Her mind raced faster than the Wonderbolt's top flyer, spinning around and around, doing backflips and loops! She shut her doubt and dizziness off and focussed, after a few minutes of musing on the matter she came to a conclusion: she would go, on the strike of midnight, at the witching hour.
"Sister?"
"Yes Luna?"
"Who lives in star street?"
Celestia smirked at her curious sister, "It's a shady side of Canterlot, not many patrols go by; why do you ask?"
"Just asking, it's been so long since I've been here it's just... I want to know about what's been happening while I was on t- Well not here." I smiled weakly, we don't talk about my banishment much, it makes me remember terrible things and angers Celestia. I don't really understand why, but I'm guessing we all don't want to talk about things we regret.
"Ok..." Celestia took a chunk out of the honey coated oats that laid in the glass bowl that was set out before her befpre taking a sip of her tea, "I should fix that though. I'll file the paperwork today, next week there will be at least 3 per day. Hmmm.. That would do it...!"
"What do you think Luna?" Said Celestia turning to me, but she frowned when I was no longer beside her, "Lunaaaa....?!" She called after me. But she was too late I was already gone, headed for the canterlot library. I thought I knew how to figure out what the Nightmare forces wanted, and why.
Well I was wrong.
There was no books, spells or rumours about the Nightmare forces! I had to be missing something! Some important detail! I felt life ripping my hair out (if my mane counted as hair) and scream at the top of my lungs, "What do you want from me?!" but I really don't want people to think of me as, 'Princess Luna, The Alicorn Who Went Insane On The Moon!'
I had to face the facts, the only way I could know was to go to the mysterious meeting of sorts.
So as I put on my cloak to go out one thing raced through my mind: Time to figure this out.
Time to get to the bottom of this.
