The Mountain

“Why did I want to climb this mountain again?”
A strange though for a young, mountain climbing adventure seeking, earth pony to have.
But there it was.
If you had asked Pebble what he was thinking any day before this one, he would most likely have said “What rope to best get me to the top of THAT mountain”. But now that that he was at the top of mount horshucaran (as the first earth pony, without any help from a pegasus that is) He couldn’t help but wonder why he wanted to climb it in the first place.
It wasn’t just an impulse that Pepple suddenly wanted to climb a mountain. All his life he had wanted to climb THIS mountain. But why was that?
The more he tried to think about the “why”, the more fussy his thoughts became. And what was stranger still... when he got back on his hooves, and started to get back down. He had this huge urge to get back at the top again. So he did, and so he sat there. And waited...and waited... and waited.
Pebble wanted to get back. It was getting darker, and colder. But the thought “not yet, a little more” kept playing in his head.
But just as the sun was setting in the distance. Something finally happened. It started out small in the distance. But as it got closer, it seemed more and more what he could best describe as “a bucket of rainbow who decided to explode all over the sky”.
He didn’t knew where the explosion had originated from. but from the looks of it, there would most likely be a huge shock-wave on its way to him. Alone. On the top of a mountain.
Pebble knew this. And was very tempted to get to cover before that would happen. But the thought “almost... almost...” were to strong for him to move away. So the least he could do was close his eyes, and cover his ears.
And then he felt it. He could feel himself falling down. But... he didn’t felt anything pushing him? Why was he falling if the shock-wave wasn’t pushing him? He opened his left eye a little... dark. Was he dead? He didn’t felt dead. Just like he was falling. As he looked around himself he saw small stones and dirt fall along with him. “What is?.. He managed to ask himself before he looked up and finally understood.
“THE MOUNTAIN IS CAVING IN? HOW CAN A MOUNTAIN BE CAVING IN?!! ITS A MOUNTAIN!” He yelled out. All while he kept hearing the thought “so close now, so close”
Pebble closed his eyes and started crying “I hate this mountain. I Hate this mountain. I HATE this mountain. I HATE THIS mountain. I HATE THIS MOUNTAIN! I HATE THIS MOUNTAIN!!!”
And then it was all black and silence.
Pebble heard voices yelling. It hurt his ears but at least he was alive.
“Young lady, what have I told you about using magic you don’t understand?” said the first voice.
“to don’t do it” said the second voice.
Apparently it was a mother and daughter having an argument. “If only they would go away” pebble thought to himself.
“And what were you trying to cast?” asked the mother voice... she must have been very angry course Pebble could hear a lot of hissing in her voice.
“a combined love and summoning spell” answered the smaller voice.
“and do you know how to do any of those to fully?”
“no. But I half know how to do both of them, so I thought if I combined those to half’s...”
“THANK YOU, that’s enough young lady.”
The young one got silent. Pebble didn’t quite understand what the big deal was... but then again, he was just an earth pony. So what would he know about magic. In fact... the girls ½ + ½ = 1 whole logic seemed fine to him.
“Why did you even try to use those 2 spells combined in the first place?”
“Well...” there was a long pause in her answer. Pebble found it kinda cute. “A summon love spell. Kinda nice idea when you think about it”
“Is THIS what you thought the result would be? A young colt to fall down through the roof of our hive?”
“Hive?” pebble thought to himself “what does she mean with that?”
“Even IF 1 of those 2 spells...”
“3”
“... huh?”
“well... I couldn’t just directly go from the first half to second. So I just threw some made up magic spell in the mix to glue the 2 other together”
“That IT CHRYSALIS. I DONT care if you ARE my future heir to the throne. You are going back in magic kindergarten!”
Pebble couldn’t hold it in anymore, so he got up and faced himself in the direction the mothers voice had been and starter talking before he had opened his eyes “Aint that a little to hash to do...”
Changelings. He had fallen into a changeling hive! He didn’t knew much about these creature. His teacher had once told him that they feed on the love of others. How that worked he didn’t knew for sure. When trying to visualize it, he had always thought of a pony with a straw coming out from the heart. But the only thing he knew for sure, was what he saw with his own eyes now. And his first thought, witch he immediately felt ashamed for thinking was “Swiss cheese ponies?”
The queen changeling, was twice the size of pebble. But never the less... He felt he had to stand up for the princess. The queen just looked at him with a cold stare.
“Oh. He he he. So our little falling screamer have finally awaken have he?” her face were now mere inches from his own.
“You should be more thankful to the one who saved you sorry little flank from meeting the floor to hard. Or are you really so foolish to think that you survived on your own?”
Pebble didn’t know what to say.
“I just...”
“yes?” asked the queen.
Pebble looked down in the ground “... thank you.”
“So... you do have some manners at least.” the queen said while raisin her head up again.
Pebble felt someone poking him from behind. “eh... I am sorry to ask. But who are you anyway?”
Pebble turned around to face the princess. And when he saw her for the first time, IT happened.
His heart skipped a beat of joy. His soul sang of happiness, and his ears almost exploded from how loud his brain were screaming to him “FINALY!!!”
“i'm.. eh.. he he I...” Pebble felt lightheaded. How could he not. The princess just looked so cute, not beautiful. No... GORGEOUS! Yes... that was what she was. A lovely Swiss cheese looking pony. He wanted to fill the holes in her body with his love.
“whoa, WHOA There!” said Chrysalis “Not so much, I cant eat that much”
“Whats this?” asked the queen “is he... feeding you?”
“He is. And its a lot”
“hmm... interesting,” The queen was clearly interested now, but Pebble didn’t care that much for what she said. Not when his lovely-dovely was right there.“Tell me child, do you think you could teach others that spell you just did?”
“I am afraid not mom. Like I said, most of it was some self-made magic I did on the spot. I am not sure I could remember it.”
“Pity” the queen said “Would have made taking over this kingdom so much easier.” the queen started to walk out the room “at least it seems you have obtained a food supply. What ever it is a permanent one or not, I am not able to say.”
“you... you mean that?”
“yes my dear. Apparently your spell somehow managed to give you your first catch. Enjoy”
“Thanks mom. I love you”
“Love you to”
And so did pebble. He loved her with all his heart. He would do anything that his goddess commanded him to do.
“so,” asked the princess “you wanna play with me slave?”
Pebble was overjoyed with happiness. she was speaking to him. And she gave him such a cute nickname... Slave. He would cherish that name forever.
“Sure, what do you wanna play?”
“How about 'Climb the mountain'? You are gonna lay here on the floor. And I will sit on your back as a chair.”
“Anything for you, my queen” Slave prepared himself and waited for her to sit on him. All the while the same thought played in his mind “I love this mountain. I Love this mountain. I LOVE this mountain. I LOVE THIS MOUNTAIN! I LOVE THIS MOUNTAIN!!!”
