//-------------------------------------------------------// The Name's Grand Papillon!! -by NyxKnight- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1 //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 1: To the aid of strangers. It's all a blur. My memories are chaotic and warped. I know who I am, where I am from, and I remember who my family is. However, my life from the past few years is already gone. Except for one thing...no...one idea that is buzzing around my fractured mind. I find it strange that my voice can't speak of it as if cussed by some unknown force. But I know with certainty, it will revile itself...soon Joachim Valentine awoke to the glowing sun shining in his weathered face. He slowly picked himself off the ground while he allowed his eyes to adjusted to the light. Which was odd seeing as Joachim was always in a dark place or in his coffin whenever he slept. He had been around for four hundred years, give or take, so he knew the precautions his family had instituted for safety incase the locals of Romanian ever decided to start a angry mob. The ignorance of mortals was amazing to his family, especially his brother and sister as most hunters, or fools believed, the old rumors like sun light, blessed water, a cross, or a stack in the heart would destroyed them. At first Joachim thought he must have gotten drunk with someone at a local tavern, and just passed out on the road. However, as his eyes finally focused on the sight before him, it caused an odd mix of awe and fear within the poor vampire. He was on a dirt road that lead to a city, which in Romanian, or anywhere in the world was not an odd thing. However, he stood there as the city before him was beyond amazing. A city with bight glorious colors, and architecture that had no rival was built on the side of a large mountain. Joachim quickly slap himself, and closed his eyes hoping that he was just dreaming. Unfortunately, he opened them to the same sight. He knew where ever he  was, it was not the world he came from. For decades his world became a dark, and dangerous place especially as the Great War was beginning, and evil creatures roamed Europe. Even a blind man could tell the world was beginning to fall apart, this place however, was not only brighter, but alive with the purity of a child. Joachim found this unnerving as he was now alone in a strange amazing world that seemed to be a slice of heaven. His focus returned as he thought of the other side of this event, a whole new world to explore, and learn about. To his surprise a large amount of screaming erupted from the city as if it were under attack. Thanks to his vampire vision even in sunlight he could see what had looked like swarms of large bugs dive into the city.  His thoughts, and feelings of his own situation quickly settled as an old, but powerful thought coursed his mind. People were in trouble... Joachim found his resolve and focus his vampire blood in hope he still had the power. In a flash of black smoke, the human of giant size was now in the form of a golden bat. Relief hit him as he took to the sky, and flied to the city in peril... Queen Chrysalis was enjoying her day despite the meddling of that annoying unicorn. Her changelings quickly descended upon Canterlot, and were rounding up the pitiful ponies who oozed with love, and positive emotions that changelings fed on. Her changelings were very hungry, and her duty to her people was the top priority, even if a few ponies suffer because of it. Though she would admit to enjoying the pain they felt. "Nothing will ruin this wonderful day!" she gloated over the bride standing by the groom as her changelings soon brought back the ponies who were going for the elements of harmony. The streets of Canterlot were in chaos as the horde of changelings attacked, and incased ponies in quick drying slime for their future feedings. The city guards tried to fight back heroically, but soon joined the citizens in imprisonment. This was a grim time for the city, and soon Equestia. A family of three who lived in the grand city for almost a year now, were hiding like an animal that was being hunted down. "We need to get out of the city while they don't know were here." The stallion in bright green had only on thing on his mind, to get his beloved wife, and daughter away from this madness. The family soon left their hiding spot, and moved into the alleyways, hoping not to be noticed. However a changeling saw them, and call in back up with a loud screech. "Move!" The family bolted out of the alleyways, and into the main street in desperation, followed by a squad of changelings on their tails. Even at full gallop the adults were quickly caught, and slimed, their daughter turned around in fear to see her parents trapped like everypony around her. "Run!" The parents yelled at their daughter. She run as fast as she could with tears in her eyes, but soon tripped, and fell down as the changelings came closer and closer, she curled up and sobbed to her parents horror. Then in a flash a golden blur rammed the squad of changelings, before they struck the filly, and in a flash of smoke knocked the fiends into the sky. The filly was still crying, she wanted to be home with her family, then she looked up to see the monsters coming at her were gone, and in there place was a large cloud of smoke. Soon the cloud passed and she was amazed, and confused as what she could only describe as a giant appeared. Joachim emerged from the smoke seeing the stares of confusion from the capture creatures around him which he could only think of as miniature horses, and received lots of looks of rage from the bug monsters, who were now flying towards him. He didn't care, he could tell by the looks of fear on the horses faces that they were just innocent creatures being terrorized, forced away from their homes. Joachim quickly turned in to his bat form again, and took to the sky as the changelings were hot on his tail. He knew something was leading them, and as he flew he saw a larger, more vile bug in one of the fancier buildings. After some quick air tricks, he lost the squad chasing him, and flew in to fight the boss. Joachim flew in to the surprise of the bug, and several ponies, each as colorful as the ones in the streets. He landed on the opposed side of the queen next to a fallen stone pillar, the burst of black smoke from the golden bat scared the ponies, and unnerved the Queen, especially after it dissipated to revile Joachim. "Who and what are you to dare challenge me!" Slowly Joachim pulled out a butterfly mask from his back pocket, and placed it on his face, in a wave of power he yells. "When the forces of darkness attack the weak I am their, In the name of honor this fist shall strike, In the name courage these muscles will not break, In the name of innocence my blood will boil!" He stomped the ground with great power making the fallen pillar next to him jump in the air and in a quick, and flamboyant style, grab it, and place it on his shoulder in a heroic pose, while still pointing at the Queen. "Champion of truth, and justice, Grand Papillon is ready to fight all evil doers!" //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2 //-------------------------------------------------------// Chapter 2: Making an Impression. The room was silent as the ponies, the bride and groom, and princess Celestia watched the queen of the changelings and a strange creature calling itself Grand Papillon stand their ground, waiting for the other to make the first move as everypony, including Twilight, wondered what this creature was. "What is that? I have never seen such a creature. It stands on two legs, and has odd claws like Spike's, but it's different. It's taller then Princess Celestia by a foot, and it is clearly physically powerful giving it's muscular build, and it speaks our language, but it entered the cathedral as a golden bat?" Twilight's mind was racing as there were more questions than there were answers, then she turned to see her brother Shining armor next to Cadence. Snapping herself back to reality, and the real situation of the changelings invasion, she quickly thought of an idea. With great strength Papillon tossed the stone pillar resting on his shoulder at the queen, then quickly ran behind it. Chrysalis focused her magic at the pillar  that was only a mere foot away, and blasted it in to dust. To her surprise Papillon use the dust as cover, and launched himself in the air, so to come down on the queen with a powerful strike of his fist. Chrysalis would have felt that horrible pain tomorrow morning if it weren't for five of her changelings flying in the windows, and knocking Papillon away from her. Papillon was surprised, but quickly flipped in the air, and landed back in fighting stance as five new fighters joined the battle. Twilight moved to over to Cadence, and Shining as the creature distracted the queen. "Are you ok?" She looked over the couple to see if there was any damage. "We're fine Twilight, but I don't know if that thing can beat the queen, what do we do?" Shining looked at the fight as the thought of more changelings joining this battle would crash this surprising ray of hope. "Can you use your barrier spell to repeal the changelings?" "That could work, but the queen almost completely drain my energy, I don't have the strength." "Then let my love give you strength." Cadence placed her horn next to Shining's causing a bright magical light to glow, and surround them.   Papillon now had to deal with these lesser bug demons again, it's a good thing he had another card up his sleeve as in an instance he disappeared into thin air. "Where is that thing?!" Chrysalis question was soon answered as her changelings were being attacked, and knocked out by an invisible creature. "You think invisibility will save you!" Chrysalis began to charge her magic, and aim her horn to destroy the entire roof of the building, until a light coming from the bribe, and groom caught her attention. Both Cadence, and Shining Armor levitated into the air, glowing with a pure magical light. Soon Shining's barrier spell was cast, blasting the queen, and all changeling in canterlot into the air far away. The battle was won, and the city saved, Twilight ran to her teacher, Princess Celestia to see if she was hurt. "Princess are you ok?" "I am fine twilight, I'm just not as young as I use to be." Celestia said as she rubbed the back of her sore neck. Twilight was relived at her teacher's safety however she gasped as she turned to the creature to find it laying on the ground. Everypony quickly ran to Papillon to find he was still breathing, but he looked like he just passed out. The ponies surrounding the hero were quiet for some time, until one spoke up. "What is it...or he?" Twilight started as her mind tried to solve this puzzle. "Maybe he's a shaved diamond dog." Pinkie pie blurted out "I don't believe so but he clearly is dress like one, except for this beautiful mask." Rarity scanned his outfit as she picked up Papillon's butterfly mask. "I have never seen an animal like this, almost like a monkey, but..." Fluttershy's mind was busy trying to processing this information. "Well I haven't got a clue what he is, but I reckon if he went to the trouble to fight those varmints then he can't be that bad." Applejack had a good point as Rainbow Dash quickly agreed. "AJ is right, plus did you see him fly in as a bat? That was kind of cool." Celestia soon brought order to the discussion as she told the ponies that no matter who or what this creature is it clearly tried it's best to save them, and gave Shining Armor, and Cadence enough time to repeal the changelings. Then everypony agreed with the princess as the guards came into the cathedral to check on the princess, Celestia quickly told them to take the creature to one of the guest bedrooms and have guards stand by outside. "Now let are guest rest as now with the real cadence we can have a true wedding." With that the ponies quickly prepared for the wedding of cadence and shinning armor with much more positive results. Shining Armor, Princess Celestia, and the other ponies apologize to Twilight for doubting her in the beginning, although Twilight didn't hold it against them. Princess Celestia was commending Twilight Sparkle, for it was her instincts, and conviction to them that ultimately saved the day. The wedding ceremony was quickly rescheduled, with Twilight eagerly overseeing preparations for a much happier, and profoundly appreciative Cadance. Shining Armor, and Princess Cadance were soon married, and an ensuing celebration occurs. Joachim remembered the last moment of conciseness. He was battling the bug she-demon, and was prepared to dodge her magic blast. Then suddenly  a strange warm light showered him, knocking him out. Joachim had a recurring dream for the entire time he slept. He was floating in the air above the strange world. In an instance he was shown a city of ponies, then a apartment building near a park, and inside was a small black statue that was reminiscent of a native American totem. This dream would repeat which told him that the totem may have the answers he seeks, and his lost memories. But now Joachim must rest. It had been two months since the creature known to ponies as Papillon had been asleep. At first many thought he was in a coma however every now, and then he would move, and yawn. No pony alive knew that vampires were famous for hibernating for long periods of time. From months to years to even centuries, which bothered many scientists, and scholars the princesses employed to find more information on this creature as tests both magical, and scientific provided little information. Even Princess Luna tried to find out more by going into his dreams only to be blocked by his mind's protective membrane. Eventually only a nurse was checking in on him, always making sure he was comfortable, and writing down any, and all activity. Rumors soon spread within Equestria about a mysterious being who came to the aid of canterlot like a superhero from a comic book. The princesses aloud some ponies, especially a grateful young filly, and her parents who saw Papillon to write him thank you cards for his heroics in Canterlot that day, which were placed on a table in his room beside his mask. It was a raining mid morning as the unicorn nurse walked down the lovely ordinate hallways of Canterlot castle with a smile on her face. As she reached a room on the upper level of the castle the guard standing outside the room greeted her, she countinued to smile, and opened the door to her surprise to find the bed inside was empty, and the window was opened. Celestia and Luna were having a lovely breakfast of hay bacon strips, and fruit in the royal dinning room while talking about the usual. "So tia what have you been up to this week?" "Oh. Just looking at some group meetings for ponies looking for somepony special." "Oh....I didn't think you were into dating." "It's not for me." "Then.....oh....OH." Luna's face beamed a bright red at the thought of her beloved sister trying to get her to date somepony. Just then a guard busted into the room to Luna's relief, as he told them of the missing Papillon the royal sisters' faces turned to concern. Until the guard put a piece of paper on the breakfast table which the princesses began to read. "To anyone who finds this. I find myself in thanks to the creatures who watched over me while I was resting, to my amazement whatever magic was cast during my battle with the bug she-demon was, so full of positive emotions that it overwhelmed my mind. I do not know what transpired earlier that day, but I could not let the innocence suffer, and by the amount of cards thanking me it was the right thing to do. As you may have guessed I am not from this world. I have no clue how I came to be here as my mind is still fractured. I was once called human however that was many centuries ago as I am now a vampire, be not concerned for the safety of yourselves as I am a psyche vampire which feeds on emotions. Giving as how much positive emotions were blasted at me that day I would say I could go on without feeding for some time. I tell you this as I now must find a way to my realm, and with hope my memories will return, I would like it if no one would hinder me on my quest. However know that I mean no harm to any peaceful creatures this world holds. Thank you kind strangers... Grand Papillon..." Joachim in bat form flew quickly in the poring rain from the castle to a distant city, he did not know what awaited him there, but if it could make sense of this weirdness then he had no other option. Far behind the golden bat, a Pegasus with a tan coat was in stealth behind the storm clouds. The Pegasus was on a personal mission as he set his dark green eyes on the creature he would soon meet on the field of battle in the city of Manehattan.
