The sun was almost setting, Celestia yawned and smiled. She flew down the watch tower and into the castle, she walked to the right hallway and saw Luna's room and knocked. Celestia was glad Luna returned from the monster she was and she gently pushed Luna's room open, she saw Luna in her bed sleeping. Her mane was now different, It reflected the night sky that was filled with stars, and Luna's coat was different too it made Celestia jealous to see such beauty that is in her younger sister. She shook Luna and said "Wake up Luna, it's your turn to raise up the moon and the stars.", Luna slowly opened her eyes and yawned.
She looked at Celestia and nodded, she stretched both her wings and got up from her bed and then rubbed both her eyes. She walked outside her room and flew all the way to the watch tower. Celestia looked behind Luna and sighed, she then left Luna's room. Celestia went inside her room and decided to sleep instead of watching over Luna. As Luna raised the moon and countless stars, somepony that reminded of her father's voice said "Isn't the night beautiful Luna? I still remembered when I was your age I rarely raised the stars, sometimes I did it when I felt happy and not lonely" and then a mare with a voice that sounded like her mother said "After he met me, he began to raise the stars every night." the mare let out a soft chuckle, Luna being utterly shocked looked behind her and saw her father and her mother who passed away a billion years ago.
She gasped and sobbed happy tears and hugged her mother and father, she then spoke "What are you doing here mother and father?" her mother and father looked at each other with sad faces and then her mother, Galaxis said "Luna, you must start a new colony.", Luna was confused and shook her head. Her father, Temporus jumps in and said "The ponies of Equestria are getting weaker and weaker, they all struggle Luna. Your mother and I sense that we should replace the life cycle, what we mean is that ponies would be awake at the night and they would sleep at the day.", Luna was shocked to hear that and said "Then we must not let that happen! We have to tell Celestia what we must do.".
Her father shook his head and said "No, it will affect war on both of you and it would corrupt her mind, then she will use the elements of harmony against you, if the ponies are getting weaker and weaker, then you must start a colony of ponies and filly or colts who are awake at night and asleep at day, we will tell you when you must start looking. But secretly, without Celestia knowing.", Luna sighed in disbelief and said "You really think there are ponies who are awake at my beautiful night? Aren't they all asleep father?", she let out a tear drip from her face. And her mother said "There are some ponies all over the world who are awake at night.", Luna sighed and said "But how can I find each and one of them? I never even met them.", Galaxis smiled while looking at the moon and said "The moonlight will show you each and one of them.", Temporus smiled and looked at Galaxis then Luna, he then said "Farewell Luna, remember.. If Celestia keeps on making the day much longer than the night. You must round up the ponies and take them to the old castle, from then on we will show you the way.".
Then they slowly disappear into thin air, Luna looked at the telescope and sighed. She saw the whole town of Equestria sleeping, but not all of Equestria.
Tonight was the night Luna find the children of the night. Princess Luna put on her coat and her saddlebag that was filled with food, she checked if Celestia was sleeping or not. And when she saw Celestia was fast asleep she went to the empty streets of Canterlot, she followed where the moonlight was pointing at. The first stop was a colt, he was sleeping under the bridge with nopony. It made Luna's heart break to see the colt, he was a unicorn and he was really skinny.
Luna shook the colt until he's awake, and when the colt saw Luna he gasped and smiled weakly. He tried to stand up but he was too weak to do so, for he haven't ate for the past few days. Luna smiled and said "Hello little one, would you like some food?" the volt, aware of what Luna had said nodded his head frantically and smiled. Luna opened her saddlebag and took some sugar cubes and gave it to the colt.
The colt ate the sugar cubes little by little for he wanted to enjoy the sugar cubes. And after he finished eating he felt rather quite full, then he looked at Princess Luna and hugged her. Princess Luna was shocked but then she hugged him back, after they hugged Luna looked at the colt and said "My little pony, come with me and fly with me.", the colt shook his head and said "But I don't have any wings like a pegasus does!" with that statement Princess Luna smiled and put gave the colt some magical dust that could make him fly.
Princess Luna then find each and one of the other fillies and colts, they flew with Luna in the night sky and smiled. They all flew in the air and followed the moonlight, she felt a slight tap on her right shoulder and saw her parents. She smiled and flew with the children of the night and her parents, after what seemed like awhile they all landed on the old castle. Before the nightmare moon incident, looking back at the old castle Luna felt a pang of guilty. Because of her the castle was really really destroyed, but that was the past.
The dawn was almost to rise, Luna gave the children at the hooves of her parents. She flied back to the castle and spotted Celestia eating breakfast already, Luna approached her and said "Aren't you going to raise the sun?" Celestia looked at her with a pale face "How could I raise the sun if you were gone? Where were you? Don't you know I can't raise the moon again now you're here?", Luna started to think of a thousand of reasons. As Luna was about to speak Celestia jumps in and said "It's alright, as long as you're far out of trouble it'll be fine. Now make way for the sun please?", Luna sighed and lowered her glorious moon and stars. She can slowly see the sun peeking out of the meadows, and it calls that it was time for her to take a goodmorning sleep.
