Night Shadow: Epilogue
Chapter Two
Previous ChapterMany years had passed since that event, as the year was now 1985.
Night was now twenty-one years of age, holding a steady job at an upper class watch and accessories store, appraising rings and such. Every day when he returned home, he went on his primitive computer and hacked into sites, changing information for his own amusement. It was only internet 1.0, so it was hard to trace where changes were coming from and because of Night's advanced coding skill, he could essentially fend off anything attempting to trace him, such as cookies. Night had created his own web-site, with its own malicious secrets. The site traced MAC and IP adresses and sent them to a text document, for Night's perusal, and pursuit of valuable information. He often came up with nothing but useless memos of feeding the dog and such. But the rarities which he found were most beautiful in his eyes, bank account numbers, safe combinations, and sometimes, even hiding locations of keys to houses.
Night grabbed a bottle of his favourite alcoholic beverage from the cooler beneath his desk and cracked it open on the handle of a drawer. "Novum Lunaris", premium beer from the hills of some Nation, the name of it he'd long since forgotten. He sipped it and the taste of the alcohol soothed him and made him feel a tad happier. Night leaned backwards on his leather swivel chair and spun around slowly. He grabbed the remote to his projection television and turned on some classical music whilst watching a pirated copy of Back To The Future. Night took another swig of the beer and yawned loudly. He turned in his chair slowly, and glared at the green font that showed on the screen. He dropped his bottle and it smashed on the grey carpet, sending shards in every direction. He slowly read the text aloud. "Deleting all files on C: Erasure cannot be canceled." He angrily pounded his hoof against the keyboard. "Fuck, all my damned files are on C:!" He sighed and swore to himself once more. He obviously didn't do this himself, and began to think it was some sort of espionage. Perhaps another rival hacker sabotaging him to prevent him from taking all the infamy. After the erasure had completed, he attempted to reboot the computer, only to be greeted by a haunting message across the screen. "You should've died in that train wreck, Night." Night punched the computer and smashed the screen.
