Chapters Ebony and Ivory: Next Generation.
Harmony skipped through the streets of Ponyville a broad smile plastered on her face as she made her way to her parents house. The most wondrous spectacular thing just happened and she couldn't wait to tell them. Her stomach was tight in joyous but nervous anticipation. She was nervous, of course, of what they would say. What they would do. But she knew they'd be happy for her. As she got closer and closer her anticipation grew exhilarating the tiny girl. She broke from her skip into a light run and got faster and faster before turning into a full sprint. Then her yellow translucent wings sprouted from her back and she took flight. She rarely ever used her wings her immense fear of heights and weak wings kept her earthbound. But at this moment all of her fears were washed away in a flood of happiness she could fly all the way to Cloudsdale and not even notice. Her mothers' tree house came into view and her smile grew even wider. Landing at her doorstep her translucent wings vanished and she began banging on the door.
"Mom, mom, mom, mom, mom, mom, mom!" The door swung open to reveal a startled and confused Fluttershy.
"Harmony what's-" she was cut off, however, by Harmony wrapping her into a spine crushing hug. Or as close as the small girl could achieve.
"Mommy, please tell me mom is home." She said looking up at her birth-mother.
"Yes, sweetie she's taking a nap though and-" Her words fell on deaf ears as Harmony rushed up the stairs to her parents' bedroom. It was at that moment her eldest, Windy Belle, walked out of the kitchen wondering what all the commotion was.
Windy Belle was Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash's first born. She had incredibly long but gorgeous hair that shined like a rainbow. A beautiful mix of Fluttershy's pink and Rainbow Dash's spectrum mane. She was the tallest girl of their group of friends. She was a tom boy like Rainbow Dash but had Fluttershy's tender heart. Creating a natural attraction to other people it seemed everywhere she went people were friendly to her.
"Hey mommy what's going on, was that Windy Belle?" She asked.
"Yes I've never seen her like this. Whatever it is it better be important enough for her to ignore me and wake up Dashie." She said with a huff and focusing attention on upstairs. Living with Rainbow Dash Fluttershy picked up on how to be more assertive especially with their children. She still wasn't as assertive as Rainbow but one thing she taught them early on was to never ignore either of them. The other was not waking Rainbow unless it was a dire emergency. Or as Rainbow put it. "If you're waking me up, it better be an emergency. You've lost an arm, the house is on fire, or you've broken your legs if it's any less than that you're in a lot of trouble."
Harmony barged into her parent's room startling Rainbow Dash awake. "Wha- What happened did you lose your arm, is the house on fire, what?" She blabbered still half asleep. Harmony ran over and shook her mother awake.
"Mom, wake up, wake up, wake up you need to come downstairs I have something to tell you." She squealed.
"Can't you tell me now?" Rainbow moaned.
"No I need to tell both of you at the same time now let's go!" She squealed grabbing her mother's hand and leading her downstairs.
"This better be important or I will ground you in your own house."
As Harmony lead her mother downstairs she noticed Windy Belle standing at the foot of the stairs with a confused look on her face.
"Harmony, what's going on why are you acting so strange?" But like her mother before her Harmony didn't pay much attention.
"Windy, you're here? Great, come over to the living room I'll explain everything." She said still pulling Rainbow with her over to the couch. Windy Belle could only shrug and follow. Harmony has always been a sweet and kind but she's never acted like this. She was acting more like Starchaser in her 'party-mode.' With her family fully seated on the couch she grabbed a chair opposite of them. Windy Belle and Fluttershy were confused and Rainbow was still half asleep.
"So, what is it that you wanted to tell us, honey?" Rainbow asked leaning on Fluttershy as a comfortable pillow.
"Well, you know that I went up to Canterlot to meet Pan? Well, we went out got some dinner then he brought me to the Canterlot gardens just as the sun was setting and he... well... look." She breathed her face glowing crimson as she held out her left hand. It took each of them to only a second to realize what had happened.
Their eyes became dinner plates, Fluttershy gasped placing a hand over her mouth; she could feel tears swell in the corner of her eyes. Windy Belle smiled which grew wider and wider until it was the same size as her sister's she could feel tears of joy cascade down her cheeks. Rainbow could only stare in shock. Now out of her sleep stupor she was stunned. Staring blankly at the platinum ring with a bright blue gem on her daughter's finger. Fluttershy got up and held her daughter tightly her tears flowing freely now.
"Oh Harmony, I am so happy for you." She breathed pulling her daughter even tighter.
"I can't believe I knew you two were meant for each other. After I stopped trying to kill him of course." Windy said smiling sheepishly. Rainbow Dash, however, was still in her seat completely silent. Harmony pulled away from Fluttershy and stared worriedly at her. “Mom don't you have anything to say?" She asked. She thought her mothers would jump for joy at the news but here she was not saying a word. Frightening thoughts began swirling in Harmony's 'Was she angry, did she not approve of Pandemonium, what if she forbids it, what would Celestia do, what if they had to elope, what if-' Those dreaded thoughts came to a swift end when she was swept up in her mothers arms carrying her to the top of the massive tree's interior. Harmony could feel droplets of water fall onto her head as Rainbow Dash embraced her.
"My little girl, getting married, oh Harmony, words can't describe how happy I am." She choked out. Harmony smiled warmly holding her mother close her quick lived fears a distant memory. This was the happiest she had ever been and it was only going to get better from there. 'It's going to be perfect' she thought closing her eyes.
Ebony and Ivory: Next Generation.
While a family in a small hamlet celebrated one of the most amazing news to hear, a shadow stalked the metropolis of the Griffon capital. Leaping from a roof to roof quieter than a whisper, more invisible than a shadow at night, and more deadly than a plague. It had no facial features except for two piercing red eyes that burned like blood and hell. Finally coming to a stop it stared down at it's target, a tavern. Known as the Three-eyed-Crow it was a popular meet and greet for the cities underworld. There was nothing interesting about the building itself it was mid-sized just the right size to be inconspicuous. No paint adorned its walls no flowers or plants on its sides. It was a simple rectangular stone building with a wooden of a sign adorned with a crow with three eyes. Inside however it was a hot-bed of activity. Powerful gangsters conducting business deals biding their time to stab each other in the back. Assassins and bounty hunters picking up contracts or receiving payment, and mercenary groups from all over the world conducting their own business. While the shadow would enjoy to set the entire establishment ablaze with all of its occupants it was here for an important meeting with an unsuspecting client.
"I know your glare is powerful but I don't think it can burn down a building, not yet anyway." A white hooded man whispered into its ear. The shadow did not move only continued to stare at the tavern.
"You're late." The shadow spoke it's voice deep and hard like stone.
"Well that's what happens when you don't give me proper directions." The hood shot back.
"I did you give you proper direction, you’re just lazy." The shadow bit back now turning his attention to his companion.
"You said and I quote: 'meet me at the rooftop across the tavern at 6:00 pm.' You never said which tavern." The hood retorted.
"Because I didn't think it was important. Which tavern? I don't know maybe the notorious one with all the criminals. You were probably hoping I meant the one with the cute waitress with auburn hair and blue eyes." He responded jumping down to an alley below their perch.
"Okay first off her name is Fire Seed and she has hazel eyes. Secondly that is the last tavern I would want it to be. You'd probably scare her off with your incredible lack of people skills." He said following him.
"I have people skills." He responded sounding almost offended.
"No, no you do not Ebony. The last conversation you had with a person ended with a fractured skull and a broken bottle in the eye." He pointed out recalling what transpired in a back room with a portly aristocrat.
"That's still people skills. A different kind of skill that leads to people telling me what I want." He said walking towards the door. Now in the warmth of light the shadow gave way to a man tall and firmly built with a broad chest, strong shoulders, and toned muscles. He was sporting a midnight blue long coat with matching pants and black boots. Underneath his coat was a reddish brown button up vest and a shirt underneath that. Each article with various symptoms of wear and tear. At his hips were two sheathed blades and upon his face was a solid ebony mask with no features only two large holes for eyes. His companion while similarly built albeit slightly scrawnier was dressed in startling contrast with a clean alabaster jacket with viridian trimming along with a black shirt pants and shoes.
"Yeah along with screaming for death, their mothers and their god all at once. Great skill." His last comment dripping in sarcasm.
"Thank you." He replied not noticing or caring for the comment. As they walked up to the door he removed the mask and the other let down his hood. Their hair like their attire were polar opposite the one in white shined with golden locks that reflected all light that it touched pulled back into a neat pony tail showing off his emerald eyes. The other however had a mess of darkness atop his head and like a black hole absorbs all light that came into contact with it.
The duo swung open the door to the seedy establishment. Inside the walls were filled with unsavory characters. Some of them looked like they came right out of a childrens comic book with scarred faces, missing eyes, spiked armor and other features that screamed “look at me I’m a deadly mercenary.” Others though were far more realistic and twice as dangerous wearing with faces and attire that could blend into any crowd, but with a glint in their eyes that told they would kill a child’s puppy before their eyes if it ended in profit. It was at that moment Ebony noticed Storm Feather a senator in the Griffon Imperium. He looked like most griffons feathers for hair, bird like wings, and claws on his hands. He gained a reputation as a man who came from nothing and rose to power, a real underdog story. That is if the writer ignored that he only achieved that power by getting his hands wet with various underground organizations making his money from selling various illegal items.
“Ivory, correct me if I’m wrong but that’s Storm Feather, correct?” he asked making a subtle motion to the well dressed man.
“Well I do believe it is so are we going to hit two birds with one stone? No pun intended.” He replied. Ebony thought about it for a moment he was going to deal with the senator eventually but on the other hand the mission he was on was too important to mess up and even scum like him was had friends to cause trouble.
“No, he’s not worth it we can’t afford to fail here I’ll send Acacia, she can handle him.” He responded continuing his stride to the bar.
“Oooh Acacia you’ve been bringing her up a lot lately.” Ivory commented raising his eyebrows.
“Ivory I know what you’re suggesting and no. She’s a good hunter that is it. I am not getting involved that closely with another one.” He growled through gritted teeth leaning against the bar. Ivory gave a deep sigh and joined him.
“Look, I know it’s hard but you gotta get move past this. You need to start let-” He was cut off however by Ebony glare. More intimidating than a hydra, manticore and dragon hybrid and burned hotter than 100 suns enough to make even strongest willed men flinch.
“What I need, brother, is to find them and exact my justice and we are not bringing this up again.” He growled Ivory opened his mouth for a rebuttal but knew it was pointless and instead ended the conversation on a weak sigh.
“Good, now if you don’t mind we have our objective to get back to.” He said flagging down the bartender.
“What can I get you boys: Drinks, food, room… other?” The bartender asked.
“Were looking for the Blackfoot Irregulars. I trust you know where I could find them.” Ebony replied the bartender leaned in closer.
“Well that depends what you need them for.” He whispered.
“Isn’t it obvious we’re a couple of customers wondering what kind of services they offer.” Ivory replied.
“Well I’m sure you two are a couple of fine gentleman. However, the Blackfoot irregulars are one of the most well known mercenaries in the world and only take the most serious buyers. No time for window shoppers.” The bartender replied raising one of his eyebrows. Ebony understood the message and pulled out a small package of bits and slid it to the bartender. He took the bag and proceeded to look at it’s contents and the small grin on his face showed he got his answer.
“And there’s more where that came from.” Ebony whispered. The bartender quickly tucked the package in his pockets and with face full of glee he lead the two to a back room of the establishment.
The trio stopped at a door being blocked by a giant of a man whose head almost touched the ceiling. “Hello, Saul we have a couple of generous and wealthy customers for the Blackfoot’s.” The giant looked at the three and put his hand up. “No swords” he said simply pointing at Ebony’s swords. He then held out an open palmed hand. “You’ll have to excuse Saul he’s a half giant and not great with words so forgive his curtness. He is right though no weapons inside the room.” Ebony nodded and removed the twin blades and handed them to the giant. Saul however was not convinced and kept his hand out. Ebony gave slight chuckle before handing over his belt that was lined with bombs, throwing knives, a knife connected to a rope and a broad knife sheathed at the rear. Along with that he handed over twin knives that were lined inside his jacket along with a stiletto knife hidden on his boot.
“Apparently you’re not as dull as the bartender thinks you are.” He commented.
“Not good with words good at job.” he responded before turning to Ivory.
“Oh you don’t have to worry about me, my good sir, I’m not quite as brutish as my bodyguard here I would never touch keep such ghastly things.” He responded putting up his hands. Saul however, like a world class poker player called his bluff and proceeded to pat down Ivory only to find nothing.
“Sorry.” Saul said stepping aside. The bartender proceeded to open the door to a well lit room with a large desk were a Griffon sat flanked by two guards each as big as the one outside. As the two walked in the bartender left shutting the door behind him.
“Greetings gentleman how might I be of service? Please take a seat. I certainly hope Saul didn’t offend you two we’ve been trying to work on his people skills but to no avail. Ah well he’s good at what he does and that’s what counts right?” The griffon smiled gesturing toward the two chairs.
“Hey sounds like a new best friend for you, huh brother?” Ivory joked giving Ebony a playful elbow. Ebony failed to register the nudge and continued to stare at the three men in deep thought. Dozens of thoughts swirling through his mind, dozens of scenarios playing out before coming to the best conclusion. “Fuck it.” Ebony said dashing forward a steel claw extending from the top of his wrist he thrust it into the giant on the left’s stomach. The giant doubled over from the pain when a second claw extended from Ebony’s left wrist. Swiping upwards he sliced the man’s throat. Blood poured from the wound before he fell over dead. Ivory, quickly catching his brother’s plan reached into his jacket were a faint glow could be seen. He then pulled a black spell-gun and fired at the one on the right’s head with a combustion spell. The giant’s head exploded spraying blood, skull and brain matter everywhere. The Griffon was too shocked to move. Those two guards were half giants acquired from the Ice-Spine mountain clans and were brutal warrior capable of tearing off arms and the beating men with said arms. Yet two men turned them into little more than stains on the floor and the walls and the ceiling. Ebony then reached over and grasped the Griffon’s head slamming him into the floorboards. A loud crack could be heard although it was hard to tell if it was the wooden floors or the griffon’s bones. He was about to let out a scream of pain when Ebony covered his mouth with his hand. “Listen up you're going to tell us whatever we want to know and this is over quickly. Don’t and suffer. Your choice.” Ebony growled staring the man down. The griffon stared into his assailants eyes. They were like staring into the mouth of Tartarus. They swirled with unimaginable rage and spoke of a man that has killed more than most of the criminals in this tavern. Fear swept through the griffon’s body to the point he was almost shaking. Ebony carefully removed his hand from his mouth to let him speak but the griffon could only keep staring into his eyes, those horrifying unspeakable eyes. “Talk!” Ebony barked grabbing hold of his throat not squeezing hard enough to prevent him from speaking but enough to cause extreme pain.
“Okay, okay, don’t kill me please I’ll tell you anything you want to know.” He croaked. Ebony eased on his stranglehold but didn't completely release his throat.
“A man was looking to employ your group earlier this week. I want to know why and how many he paid for.” He said.
“Do you have a name then?” The griffon asked. Ebony tightened his grip moving closer to the griffon’s face.
“If I had a name I would have told it to you.” He growled baring his teeth.
“Right, look even if you did tell me the name I probably wouldn't have remembered just don’t kill me.” The griffon pleaded on the verge of tears. He joined this group to get some money but not enough to put his life on the line it’s why he tried his hardest to get this desk job.
“I won’t kill you as long as you stop wasting my time.” Ebony growled tightening his grip even further. The griffon began to choke before wheezing out a reply.
“Okay, look all deals and transactions are taken back to our hq in the city. It’s next to the shopping district it’s on Augustine street.” Ebony stared closely into his eyes scanning him for a hint of a lie. Satisfied, he let go of the griffon’s throat and let him get to his feet.
“Good, we’ll check it out and I highly suggest you don’t try to warn anyone because if you do I’ll find you and you know what I’ll do to you.” Ebony warned walking towards the door. He swung open the door where Saul was still standing oblivious to the commotion inside the room. A sharp blow to the back of his knee toppled the half giant and an metal claw through his skull finished the job.
“Aww I was actually hoping a friendship would blossom between you two.” Ivory bemoaned. Like most of his brother’s sarcastic comments Ebony didn't bother to care.
“Get out.” A simple command and one the griffon did not need to be told twice. He couldn't have fled faster if he was on fire.
“You see it’s stuff like that makes me say you have an unnatural lack of people skills. Didn’t even get the guys name and you cover him in blood, get him on his back, and choke him. A gentleman would have taken him on at least three dates before getting to that.” Ivory said.
“Would you rather we go through the usual banter that would lead us to this anyway?” Ebony asked walking out of the room stepping over Saul’s massive body and taking back his equipment.
“No this way was definitely more efficient I might even get to see Fire Seed before we take off.” Ivory responded following behind and noting that Saul's ears were enveloped in bruises. Half-giants especially those born in clan society are known for having awful hearing mostly from getting Cauliflower-ear from fighting along with genetics.
“By the way nice job noticing that the big guy couldn't hear.” Ivory said putting a jovial arm around Ebony.
“Oh I had no idea it was actually pretty lucky I just thought we’d improvise with him.” Ebony responded with a small shrug. Ivory gave him a small scowl before taking his hand off of his shoulder and sighing.
“Of course that was your plan.” The two made their way out of the bar leaving the bodies and the room for the bartender to clean up.
Ebony and Ivory: Next Generation.
It was late at night when the brothers plotted their next attack. Luna's moon hung high in the sky spotlighting the stage for their next act. The set piece was nothing impressive it looked the same as the buildings around it. A standard stone bricked two story house but of course that was the point. A passing bystander might have thought it was the house of an upper middle class family. Never realizing it was a house of taking and selling lives like meat. However to a trained eye the place screamed suspicious. Place at different locations were four men dressed in regular clothes nothing too suspicious but they were placed in the perfect formation with each of them having a line of sight to another one.
“So any ideas or are we just going to improvise it.” Ivory asked emphasizing the word improvise. Ebony continued to scan the buildings perimeter and guards.
“Alright I can see four of them outside so we probably have six lookouts with two others looking from afar.” Ebony noted before turning to face Ivory. “Any ideas on how to get past them, captain?” Ebony asked. Ivory took a quick glance at the building and at the four guards.
“Well do we care if we go in loud or should we keep this quiet?” Ivory asked.
“Definitely as quiet as possible we don’t want them to think that we've caught their scent and a brazen attack on the same mercenary group they hired would be a dead giveaway.” Ebony replied.
“Yeah cause the bar sure as hell wasn’t brazen at all.” Ivory said sarcastically.
“It’ll be fine they’ll probably never hear about it and the Black Foot’s superiors will probably chalk it up as another person with a vendetta who got lucky. So that plan?” Ebony asked. Ivory took another look at the buildings defenses before giving a sigh
“Yeah it involves not hitting them from up here. We're going through the sewers and hitting them from below.” Ivory stated beginning to walk back down the alley.
“Wait, how do you know they have a basement?” Ebony asked following after him.
“Pretty obvious, if this place is that important there is no way they would keep it on street level at the risk of natural disaster or fire. They have an underground area and that’s where we’ll find what we need.” Ivory said leading the way.
“Okay good deduction but how are we going to know where it is in the sewer?” Ebony asked following behind.
“Elementary my dear Ebony. Going on the assumption that this place is underground I don’t think it would have been planned in any public documents so they would have done it in secret. In case any law enforcement began snooping around. Chances are the sewers were built long before that basement and if I was a betting man they brought the supplies through the sewers for construction before closing it up. So we go down into the sewer, head down the same street and if we find anything out of the ordinary such as the wrong bricks being used we could assume that it’s them.” Explained Ivory tucking his right hand in his jacket and accenting his detailed hypothesis with a point of his finger.
“Alright, and when you're wrong?” Ebony asked cheekily.
“Well then dear brother we get to do your favorite thing and improvise.” He responded leading the two to the nearest sewer entrance.
The sewer’s of the Griffon Capital were just that, sewers. They stunk to high heaven and were filled with things better left unsaid. It wasn’t the brothers’ first trek into these putrid waterways and compared to the Minotaurs’ system it was a delight. The walls though were surprisingly vibrant for the dark space. Each block a different color, a different shape. A small scowl appeared on Ivory’s face the moment they jumped in. As the two traveled further and further through the sludge Ivory’s scowl grew deeper and deeper. In reaction to Ivory’s worsening frown. Ebony had a smile that grew and grew into the biggest shit eating grin the sewer rats had ever seen. “So, how’s that hypothesis coming along Sherhoof? Does it have a couple of holes?” Ebony whispered into his ear getting just close enough that Ivory couldn’t see the grin but could feel its smugness.
Ivory didn’t dare turn to look at him but instead growled through grit teeth. “You know exactly where it is don’t you?”
“Who me?" Ebony asked as innocently as possible. "Of course, well not exactly but I’ve been counting my steps from leaving the surface to entering the sewer and I’d say we just passed it if my counting is correct.” Ivory’s head shot up. Turning around his face going through a myriad of emotions before landing on silent anger.
“You mean to tell me we already passed it and you didn’t say anything?” He asked digging into Ebony with his own glare.
“Of course. While this mission is important watching you suffer is priceless.” Ebony said turning around and heading back down through the muck. Before following Ivory threw up both of his middle fingers so intensely that his arms were shaking.
Ebony finally came to a stop a few meters back and began inspecting one of the walls. “I swear to the Mother this had better be it because this sewer is getting worse as time goes on.” Ivory said breathing in a fresh puff of the putrid air and wrinkling his nose in disgust. “It’s like a new awful smell is being added every second.” He stated covering his nostrils.
“Relax it’s right here.” Ebony said stepping back wards and unsheathing the sword that was on his left hip. Putting on his solid black mask while Ivory pulling up his hood. Gripping the hilt tightly he muttered a few incantations. Sparks began ebbing off of the blade before bright blue lightning surrounded the blade completely. Raising the sword up high Ebony swung it at the brick wall. White hot lightning erupted from the blade tearing the wall to pieces.
The newly formed entrance opened to an office space not unlike the one at the bar. In the center was a large wooden desk being manned by a feeble looking griffon. Across the room was a single guard clad in armor. Each were in a state of shock at the sudden breach. The soldier was the first to recover. He reached for his sword but wasn’t fast enough. Before he could even touch the handle Ebony plunged his sword into the man’s belly. He let out a gasp of shock and pain. Kneeling over he clutched Ebony’s arm trying to pry the sword from his body. In a swift motion Ebony tore the sword out from the man’s body in a clean horizontal slice caking the walls in the man’s blood. The guard gave deathly groan before falling over dead. Ebony then shook the blood off from his sword before sheathing it. The griffon at the desk was still shock however. One part from his ears still ringing from the explosion and also from how swiftly this masked man disposed of the experienced and well trained guard. The griffon didn’t have time to fully process his thoughts before he felt a cool metal object press against his head. He stole a glance at what the object was and found himself staring down the barrel of a spell gun. He opened his mouth to let out a scream but fear kept his throat silent.
“Hey buddy, how you doing?” His captor asked casually taking a seat on the desk. The spell gun never losing sight of his skull. “So I’m going cut to the chase see that guy behind me?” He asked pointing over his shoulder at the man in black. “That guy is a dick. Now I would like to shoot him but sadly I can’t. You however I can shoot no problem. So you’re not going to be a dick to me are you, friend?” He asked shooting him a friendly white smile. The griffon gave a slight shake of his head still staring at the barrel of the gun. “That’s what I thought. So first I need you to help me find it. A couple days ago it is, to our understanding, that you received a job and-” Ivory was cut off by the griffon who rather excitedly interrupted him.
“Hold on! before you continue I think I know the job you're talking about.” He said looking nervously between the two men.
“Oh really mind telling me what?” Ivory asked. The griffon looked away from the two before replying.
“Is it about the Elements of Harmony job?" Ebony and Ivory exchanged shocked and worried glances. Turning their attention back to the griffin.
"What do you mean 'Elements of Harmony' job?" Ivory asked.
"The boss got a huge contract worth a lot of money. Even so I can't believe he would take it because..." The griffon paused letting out a haggard breath before continuing. "The job is to kill one of the Elements of Harmony. I have an overview of it right here." He said.
Now it was the two brothers turn to be shocked. The griffon couldn't see it but their eyes became orbs of panic. “Show me this overview now!” Ebony barked leaning over the desk. The griffon quickly obeyed and flung open one of the drawers. It was the only piece of paper in the entire thing but it was heavier than a solid steel ingot. The griffon shakily handed the paper over to Ebony who’s mouth stretched in shock at the contents.

_________________________________________________________________________________________________
It was that last sentence that made his stomach twist itself into knots. “Fuck.” Was the only word he could muster before handing Ivory the piece of paper. Even though he couldn't see his face he knew his brother was feeling the exact same thing he was.
“Shit.” Ivory muttered as he finished the last sentence.
“How many soldiers is he bringing?” Ebony asked.
“W-well he hasn’t given a final count until they gets the plan from the employers. But I do know he has placed at least one hundred men, 55 of them changelings in the reserves.” The griffon responded.
Ivory placed his face in his hands racking his brain around this information. Trying to think of a solution. “Thank you, you can go now but before that where do you keep your profits?” Ebony asked.
“Out that door and to the right and it will be behind a big metal door. But it’s almost impenetrable without the key and I don’t know where it is.” The griffon responded. Shaking he stood up giving the duo one last look making sure it was safe for him to leave. Seeing neither of them move to stop him he took his chance and sprinted out the door as fast as his feet could move.
Ebony leaned against a wall processing the grim news. ‘Attacking the Elements of Harmony? Is this how low they’re willing to go?’ He thought to himself. Ivory shot up from his seat on the desk and made his way towards the hole.
“Come on I think it’s pretty clear what we need to do. Find their boss and cancel this contract.” He said stepping through the gaping entrance.
“Wait! That won’t solve anything. They have clearly acquired a very powerful ally if they can throw around this kind of money. Even if we stop take this one out they’ll make a deal with another. If they haven’t already.” Ebony said. Ivory stopped mid step out of the room mulling over what Ebony said. Cursing to himself he turned around knowing his brother was right.
“Then what is the plan?” He asked throwing his arms out irritated.
“First we make this look like a robbery now that we know how dire the situation has become we cannot afford them to catch on. Then we head back home and consult with mother. They’re still clearly waiting for an opportune moment to strike so we head back listen for any news.” He responded taking position in front of the door and unsheathing both his swords.
“Any plan for the robbery part?” Ivory asked.
“Yeah, we improvise and by that I of course mean kill everything in our way. Take what we can carry and get the fuck out of here.” Ebony responded getting ready to kick down the door. “Oh and make it messy make them think there was more than just two of us.” He said before sending the door flying off it’s hinges.
Each carrying a large wooden box full of bits the two walked back through the sewer. Behind them they left a swath of death and carnage. Exploded abdomens, charred bodies, limbs and heads spread across the floor like flower petals in a garden of madness. The door itself was a little trouble at first but it didn't stand long against the barrage of Ivory’s combustion and Ebony’s lightning spells. They took only what they could stuff into their pouches and one big box each. Ebony was breathing heavily as the two trekked a little ragged from the fighting. Lightning based magic was among the hardest and dangerous to use draining the user quickly.
“So what are we going to do with these boxes dump them in the sewer?” Ivory asked. Ebony swallowed hard wiping a bit of sweat from his brow. He recalled an orphanage that had shoddily patched roof as they entered the city.
“I know, follow me.” He breathed.
Caring for orphans was difficult. It was the constant rule that Silver Wing knew all too in her long service of being caretaker for this orphanage. She loved the kids but it was still incredibly difficult at times. So many kids each there for different reasons. Some were there because their parents couldn’t or didn’t want to take care of them so they just left them there. Others were there after escaping their abusive parents and of course the ones who lost their families to tragedy. Most were angry at the world, some were so shaken and depressed they could barely move, there were some that took their hardships in stride serving as big brothers or sisters to the younger ones. It was exhausting work with temper tantrums, tears, bruises but she endured it all so these kids could have a chance at happiness. It was that mantra of hers that allowed her to sleep so peacefully at night. It was then she heard a loud knocking sound. At first she thought it was just the wind. The place had been making all kinds of noises after part of the roof collapsed from a magical outbreak from one of the burst magic girls. When she heard the same knocking she groaned knowing it was someone at the door. ‘Please don’t be another late night drop off. She didn’t want to admit it but getting money for food was getting harder. She swung open the door to not another bundle of joy being left behind but two men each carrying wooden boxes. It was rare for her to open the door at this hour and people to still be there.
“C-can I help you?” she asked taking a step back and grabbing onto the door handle immediately regretting opening the door so widely. It could have been an abusive parent coming to take back their rescued (or as they put it stolen) child. 'How could I be so careless' scolding herself.
“Relax miss we mean you no harm.” the one in black assured. “We have donations for your orphanage." He continued. The two proceeded to open the boxes revealing that they were filled with bits and placed them at her feet.
Silver Wing’s eyes widened at the sight of it all. This wasn’t just enough for the roof but she reckoned there was enough spruce up the entire place, maybe get each of them some new clothes. No one would give this much money without wanting something in return. She raised an eyebrow at the two of them.
“What’s the catch?” She asked. ‘What could it be? A loan? No who asks for loans from an orphanage. Sex maybe? Hopefully just me. Oh who am I kidding this much it could only be for one of the kids. Please dear Celestia don’t let it be that.’ Her mind going to darker and darker places the more she thought about it.
“No catch, no loan, we want nothing from you or your orphans.” He responded almost like he was reading her mind. “Just take it.” He said.
Silver wing slowly grabbed the two boxes and slid them away never losing eye contact with the two as she place them just off to the side and out of reach. The two never moved an inch. She returned to them more than shocked. Is this kind of generosity really possible in the capital of the griffon empire? She always thought only Equestria got this kind of kindness.
“Who do I have to thank for this generous donation?” She asked. This time it was the one in white who spoke.
“If you want someone to thank. Thank the Hive of Queen Chrysalis. Have a nice day.” And with that the two walked away towards the train station. Leaving Silver Wing paralyzed in shock.
Ebony and Ivory: Next Generation.
It didn’t take long for news to spread across Ponyville of Harmony’s engagement. It had only been a couple of days since she told her family but it was the buzz of the town. Everywhere she went people congratulated her, wished her well and gave good tidings. Many even offered to help with the preparations Harmony turned them down of course, but they left the offer open to call upon them if she needed anything. She was currently making her way to Princess Twilight’s castle. Today was to be an amazing day today was going to be a big get-together at the castle with everyone.Including Princess Cadance, Shining Armor, Gallant Shield Princess Luna, Lucky and of course Princess Celestia, Discord and Pan. It would be the first they would see each other since the proposal. The butterflies in her stomach had it in a vice grip. She knocked on the crystal door and was answered by none other than Twilight herself. The dark-skinned princess greeted her with a big smile.
“Harmony! Come in we have everything set.” She said leading her to the massive dining hall and the moment she entered she was met by a barrage of confetti and a hail of streamers. Harmony was stunned at first but when she saw the pair behind the attack she couldn’t help but giggle. It was none other than Ponyville’s best party girl, Pinkie Pie and her daughter Starchaser with matching Party Cannons. “Congratulations!” Starchaser shouted as Pinkie blew a party favor at Harmony’s face. Harmony kept laughing at their goofy antics she loved it when Starchaser and Pinkie were like this.
Starchaser looked exactly like what you think a fusion of the her mother’s would look. She had Pinkie Pie’s pink hair with a streak of blue. She inherited her birth mother’s dark skin and Pinkie Pie’s bright blue eyes. She was the second shortest of their group of friends still being a couple of inches taller than Harmony.
“Ease off you two, lot of people are gonna wanna congratulate her. Don’t get her all flustered right off the bat.” A familiar southern voice a from behind the two. It was Applejack with her wife Rarity and daughter Apple Syrup at her side. Rarity rushed past Pinkie and Starchaser and pulled Harmony into a hug.
“Ooooh congrats darling.” She squealed smothering the little girl. “When you're ready come to my boutique and we’ll get you and your bridesmaid dresses all sorted out. Oh, and don’t worry about money, my treat. Speaking of bridesmaids have you decided on who yours will be?” She asked breaking the hug and walking back over to Applejack her arms still around Harmony.
Apple Syrup had wavy purple hair like Rarity’s but she had Apple Jacks complexion, freckles and all. She was the only one of her friends to have dual toned eyes with the outer of her iris being sapphire blue and the inner ring emerald green. She was just an inch or two taller than Starchaser. Despite her small stature she was incredibly strong. Almost as strong as her older and much larger cousin Bing Cherry.
“Oh, well um, I was kind of hoping everyone could be a bridesmaid: Apple Syrup, Windy Belle,Starchaser, Radiance and Lucky, is that alright?” She asked looking around nervously.
“Why of course darling. It is your wedding after all I was just asking for supply purposes. So you have your bridesmaids but what about your maid of honor?” She asked.
“Oh well, I haven’t actually decided that, is that okay?” she asked timidly starting to worry. Only now did it begin to hit her how many choices she was going to make. What if she made the wrong one? What if she upsets any of her friends for not picking them? Being astute as ever Applejack noticed her rising fears and pulled her away from Rarity’s grasp.
“What did ah just say Rarity?” Applejack said putting herself between Harmony and Rarity. Rarity placed her hands on her hips and gave a slight “hmph.” Turning her head as she did.
“Well these are important questions, Applejack.” She retorted.
“Ah know but it’s not like she’s gettin’ hitched tomorrow.” Applejack responded. “It’s gonna be awhile ‘till yer special day so take yer time no need to sweat.” She said giving Harmony a reassuring squeeze.
“Yeah and as for the maid of honor thing pick whoever you want no one is going to be mad. Okay.” said Apple Syrup placing her hand on her best friend’s shoulder.
“Oh, okay. Well then I was thinking of it being Windy Belle.” She replied.
With the same dramatic flair of Rarity she drew a large gasp putting a hand to her chest. She stepped backwards her eyes wide in shock. “What? but I thought I was your best friend?!” She cried in a feigned offended tone. Applejack rolled her eyes at her daughter clearly she had been spending too much time with Rarity. Rarity on the other hand was silently applauding her daughter’s performance.
The joke however was lost on Harmony as her face went pale. Thinking that she had actually upset her. “Oh, Apple if it really means that much to you. You can be it just don’t be mad.” She cried panic rising in her chest.
Apple Syrup, realizing her mistake, quickly recovered. “No, no, no, no. I’m kidding, I’m kidding, I’m kidding, I’m kidding, I’m kidding!” She said waving her hands frantically trying to calm her friend down. “I had a feeling you were going to pick her anyway please calm down. It was just a dumb joke.” She said. Harmony coming to realization it was just a little joke blushed at her overreaction.
“Oh, sorry.” she whispered smiling sheepishly.
It was at that moment Windy Belle flew over to them from the table were the rest of her family was seated. “What’s with all the crying about?” Windy Belle asked landing next to them.
“Oh, it was just a dumb joke. Speaking of which Harmony has something to ask you.” Apple Syrup responded and quickly putting Harmony between her and Windy Belle.
“Oh well Ms. Rarity was asking about bridesmaids and maids of honor and I was hoping that you would be my maid of honor. If that’s okay of course.” She said. Windy Belle was speechless for some reason being asked to be maid of honor never crossed her mind. She was certain she would ask Apple Syrup as the two were practically sisters.
Windy Belle came back to reality with a quick shake of her head. “I would be honored Harmony and I’d love to.” She responded pulling Harmony into a hug. “I love you lil sis.” She whispered.
“Love you too big sis.” She responded.
“Alright, if ya’ll are done let’s get settled before the princesses arrive. Besides I think there are some other people that want to see you Harmony.” She said gesturing towards Agate Quartz and Bing Cherry. Harmony nodded and made her way over to them.
Agate Quartz was adopted by Spike after hatching him from an egg. Like Spike Agate was an earth type draconians with no wings. Agate had chocolate like skin.. Agate’s hair was spiked up and the color of blood. Having a bit of dragon blood in him his eyes were slitted with golden iris’s.
Bing was the spitting image of his father he had his green eyes, was tall, quiet and big. All that size was pure muscle from working on the farm most of his life he was undoubtedly the strongest of the people she knew. He was probably even stronger than his father. The only thing he shared in the looks department with his mother would in his hair. Long and flowing it was a mix of red and yellow like autumn atop his head.
The congratulations from the boys were short and sweet but to the point. The two draconians each gave her a thumbs up and expressed how happy they were for her.
“Congrats, hope you two are happy together.” Bing said his father adding to his son’s sentiments with a “Eeyup.” Cheerilee rolled her eyes at all of them before pulling Harmony aside to talk to her privately to giver her some advice about marriage.
Several minutes passed and everyone was seated when they heard a knock at the door. “I’ll get it.” Twilight said jumping up from her seat and rushing to the door. Harmony sprang from her chair and stood there waiting for what seemed like an eternity for Pan’s face to come through that doorway. Finally, he appeared through the doorway.
Pan definitely took after his father more than his mother. Two horns sprouted from the top of his head with a wavy black mohawk between them. At his back were two green leather wings and his eyes were the same as Discord’s: red iris’s surrounded by a sea of yellow. Standing at a whopping 6 foot and 8 inches he was the tallest in their group of friends and towered the 4 foot 8 girl. She didn’t mind though she enjoyed his height. Harmony sprinted over and jumped into his arms. Pan embraced his fiance and spun her around before lifting her up to his eye level and pulling her into deep kiss. Harmony threw her arms around his neck and pressed further into him. When they parted they were breathless gazing into each other’s eyes.
“Jeez, you two it’s only been a couple of days.” Commented Celestia coming up from behind Pan. “It’s not your honeymoon yet.” She said winking at them.
“Oh Princess Celestia it’s good to see you again.” She said as Pan released her and she met her soon to be mother-in-law. She stood there awkwardly for a second wondering exactly how to approach her. Celestia made it clear when the two started dating that she didn’t want any formality between the two. No curtsies , bowing, or kneeling none of that. But she was still a princess. Celestia was the first to answer cupping her hands around Harmony’s face.
“It’s good to see you Harmony. I am absolutely thrilled to have you as my daughter-in-law.” She said rubbing her cheeks with her thumb. Celestia then pulled the small girl into her bosom in light but warm embrace. “Oh and don’t listen to anything Discord says. On the way over here he had the “brilliant” idea to prank you by making it appear we didn’t approve of this union. I was against it but he may go through with it just ignore him if he starts acting like an idiot. It’s what I always do” She said giving Harmony a little wink.
“Come on now Celly I was only joking.” Cried Discord coming up from behind with Radiance at his side. Harmony could just see Luna and Lucky behind him and bringing up the rear was Shining Armor, Gallant Shield and Princess Cadance still chatting with Twilight.
Radiance in contrast to her brother took more after Celestia. Flawless light skin, long golden hair and bright pink eyes she was incredibly beautiful. Ga
Radiance pushed her way past the group and tore Harmony away from her mother wrapping her in a much more friendly and tighter hug. “Oh, you have no idea how happy I am that you two are finally getting hitched. I’ve always wanted a sister.” She squealed jumping up and down in joy. “We are going to have so much fun.” She sighed before releasing Harmony.
“I feel the same way Radiance I can’t wait to spend more time with you at Canterlot.” Harmony responded throwing her a sweet smile. Radiance returned the gesture before making her way through the crowd to see everyone else, especially Bing.
Lucky was the next to approach her taking. Timidly and with more care than when handling a butterfly she took took Harmony’s hands in hers. Lucky, despite being adopted by Luna, looked a lot like the lunar princess. She too had a pale skin tone. She had midnight blue hair with white and frost blue streaks that contrasted perfectly with her piercing yellow eyes. Being part Griffin two dark blue wings sprouted from her back and her nails were sharp like claws
“Hey Harmony. I just wanted to say congrats and I hope this means we’ll get to see more of each other.” She said quieter than a mouse and a small smile. Harmony smiled back and gave her hands a fond squeeze.
“I hope so too. I would love to maybe make a garden with you.” She said. Lucky nodded in response before letting go of her hands for Princess Luna meet her next.
“Most happy tidings Harmony I am filled with incredible joy at the thought of your matrimony, and I would love it if you two created a new garden I’m sure it would be lovely.” She said smiling at her and giving a quick hug before going over to the rest of the group with Lucky. As she watched the two depart and everyone greet each other she was blindsided by a vicious hug by Princess Cadance. Lifting her off the ground in a binding embrace almost choking the poor girl Cadance squealed like a child.
“Harmony I am so happy for you and Aunt Celestia and I are going to make sure everything goes perfectly for your special day. Hopefully it goes better than mine did.” She joked making her husband cough uncomfortably.
“A little too soon to be joking about that don’t you think, Cadance?” He asked awkwardly.
“Too soon? It’s been decades surely we can joke about it now.” She responded.
“I don’t know can we ever really joke about an almost invasion of our home?” Gallant Shield asked. Cadance rolled her eyes.
Gallant Shield seemed to take equal parts from both of his parents genetics. He had his father’s hair color but in a lighter shade of blue. Like his father he was well built with a broad chest, thick neck and confident face. The face of a leader. He also had, however, his mother’s beauty. His hair was long and wavy tied up in a ponytail and he had bright beautiful purple eyes.
“You two are just sensitive babies it’s fine. There’s gonna be a lot of work preparing for this but that can wait today just relax with family and friends.” She said finally letting go of her allowing Harmony to take some refreshing breaths of fresh air.
“Thank you Princess Cadance I would really appreciate the help.” She said. Cadance nodded in acknowledgement and walked over to the others with Shining in tow giving her a pat on the shoulder as he passed.
“Yeah, like she said congrats Harmony.” Gallant Shield said giving her firm squeeze on the shoulder and a friendly smile and then following his parents. Now free of guests she turned her attention back to the dining hall. An entire room filled with loved ones that cared for her and ready to help. She felt truly blessed to have so many friends. ‘Planning a wedding will be hard but with them it will be a blast.’ She thought.
“Hey sweetie can I talk to you for a second.” She heard Pan call beckoning her to come over to him. Harmony nodded and walked over to her fiance. “So about the wedding I’m really sorry about this but the nobility will have a fit if it’s anywhere other than Canterlot. I tried to convince them that it was your choice and that you would want a smaller engagement but you know how stubborn they can be. So do you mind if it’s in Canterlot? It will probably be really big just to let you know.” He said rubbing the back of his head ashamedly. He knew that Harmony didn’t like being the center of attention but being a prince had it’s prices.
“Oh Pan I don’t mind. I don’t care where it is as long as I’m with you everything is fine.” She responded taking his hand in hers and squeezing it. Pan smiled at her before leaning in for a kiss. Harmony was more than happy to oblige their lips meeting once more. ‘As long as I have you everything will be perfect.’ she thought savoring the kiss.
Ebony and Ivory: Next Generation.
The main changeling hive was a pitch black citadel. Tall towers of ebony and obsidian sprouted from its massive walls. Being in the middle of the savage lands it was almost impenetrable. Most armies could barely get through the savage wilderness by the time they reach the cities impressive defences. Many credit this to the changelings not being wiped out completely a long time ago. Thankfully for the brothers if you know the way and had the right equipment the trek was not nearly as unbearable. They rode on Chokipos, raptor like animals with long beaks and and large claws. Horses could never make the journey on account of there being very little grass to eat. Chokipos instead use their massive claws to dig into the ground and eat whatever they can find. Changelings are the only people to have discovered how to tame these beasts. It took the pair weeks to return to their home and not soon enough apparently. They were able to contact Queen Chrysalis of their findings shortly after leaving the Griffon capital thanks to one of the sub-hives spread across the world. Everything was fine at first until the two were flagged down by a harvester changeling with orders from the Queen. They were simple orders but made their blood chill. “Get home, now.” That was over a week ago. Now with their home in sight they spurred their Chokipos even further pushing them to their limits fearful of what news she had.
“Halt who goes there!” A voice called down to them as they reached the massive gates.
“What’s left of the invasion army! Surrender now and we will spare some of you!” Ivory called back. Ebony chuckled at his brother’s joke as they could hear a commotion from above them.
“Open the gates Prince Ivory and Prince Ebony have returned!” The voice echoed and the massive gates parted for the two. As the riders passed through the archway they were greeted by soldiers in full armor bowing to them as they passed. Dismounting from their Chokipos and handing the reins to one of the soldiers they were met by captain Thorn an old friend.
“Glad to see you two. My apologies but Queen Chrysalis has requested us to escort you to the castle as quickly as possible so if you’ll follow us.” He said as a troop of guards flanked them. The two nodded and followed their lead. As they walked down the bustling main street of the city citizens stopped what they were doing to greet them. Most bowed, some of the more personal ones waved and said hi. The people were not always this kind to the adopted princes. When Queen Chrysalis first adopted the two after finding out that she was incapable of having children there was large outcry. But the two strangers persisted winning over the hearts of their people and earning the title of Prince of the Changelings.
“Thank you Thorne, where is our mother?” Ebony asked as they reached the castle.
“At the war room meeting with your aunts and other generals.” He responded. Thorn shifted his eyes back and forth before moving closer to him. “Ebony what is going on? Are we in danger?” He whispered into his ear making sure no one could hear them. “Your mother and Aunts have been eerily quiet in the hive mind for the past few weeks what the hell is happening?” He asked trying his best to not look scared.
Ebony put his hands on Thorn’s shoulders and gave them a reassuring squeeze. “Hopefully something we can prevent.” He said before letting go and disappearing through the castle doors with Ivory right beside him. Thorn hoped that Ebony was right.
The made their way through the massive castle noting the surprising lack of guards. Their mother clearly didn’t want anything getting out. Descending into the castle’s depths they entered the war room. It was a large circular room with a various maps in the center each on circular tables. There was a large basic map of the world with multiple pins in it in the middle. With more detailed three dimensional maps around it of various areas and cities. The Walls were lined with books upon books. Ancient texts of historical battles, treaties, civilizations both old and new, histories both ancient and recent. Standing around the table was their mother, Chrysalis, along with their four aunts: Papilia, Alexandrae, Arthemis and Priamus.
“There you two are.” Said Chrysalis hugging them both and giving them each a lick on the cheek. “Eugh, you two couldn’t wash your faces before coming here?” She said spitting out the disgusting taste of her unwashed faces.
“I thought you wanted us here in a hurry?” Ivory said giving her a hug and lick of his own.
“It would have taken you like 10 seconds.” She said rolling her eyes as Ivory walked over to his Aunts.
“Every second counts mom.” Ebony said wrapping her in a hug and giving her a lick from behind.
“Well since you wasted no time even for cleanliness. Let’s get to business.” Chrysalis said handing them a newspaper. In big black letters the headline read:
PRINCE PANDEMONIUM TO MARRY HARMONY, DAUGHTER OF RAINBOW DASH AND FLUTTERSHY.
Below that was a press photo of the happy couple standing together.
“Well I think we found were they’re gonna strike.” Ivory said as Ebony continued to read the article.
“It says that they’re gonna get married in Cantererlot in five weeks. This was published two weeks ago!” Ebony shouted throwing down the paper.
“What are you yelling about I told you to get home.” Chyrsalis said.
“It’ll take us two weeks to get to Canterlot with any kind of sizeable force so we’ll have a week to weed them out at best.” Alexandrae said leaning on the large table.
“That’s if we could get a force of any kind in. Pretty sure they’re gonna be looking for changelings.” Ivory added.
“If that’s the case how do you know for sure that they will even show up. You said that a little more half of their forces will be changelings.” Arthemis mentioned.
“I think that’s the point. They want this to be public spectacle. A changeling killing an Element of Harmony at a wedding. We’ve been living in relative peace since the failed invasion but something like that will surely spark full out war. Probably not just with Equestria.” Ebony said.
“So how would they get such a large group of Changelings back into Canterlot? No doubt they’re gonna have checkpoints at all public gateways.” Papilia asked.
“Null stones?” Ivory suggested.
“Fifty-five of them? I highly doubt that unless this was a plan 50 years in the making.” Chrysalis retorted.
“You saw what kind of money they were throwing around. Could have bought them.” Ebony suggested.
“Fifty-five null stones? Somebody really wants them dead.” Chrysalis commented.
“More like they really want us dead.” Alexandrae muttered.
“Assuming that they don’t have that money. How would they get a large amount of changelings into Canterlot?” Ebony asked.
“The caves.” Chrysalis responded. Beginning to chew on the nail on her thumb. .
“The ones beneath canterlot?” Priamus asked. Finally working the courage to speak up.
“The very ones. They are large dark and very hard to patrol effectively.” She responded.
“Okay so we know where they might get through if they don’t have null stones. So that leaves us. How do we get through them?” Asked Alexandrae.
“How many null stones do we have?” Ebony asked stroking his chin.
“Currently? Twenty-five. We had to use a large amount of them getting some harvesters. Into Minotaur territory.” Alexandrae responded. Chrysalis twisted her face in disgust.
“Eugh Minotaurs there love for war and pillage tastes awful.” She said.
“True but there is a lot of it.” Arthemis quipped.
“Can we get back to the matter at hand?” Ebony suggested.
“Right sorry dear. Were you going to say something?” Chrysalis responded turning her attention to her son.
“Well first I’m not too worried about getting into Canterlot. I’m worried about getting out without being captured by the Equestrians.” Ebony said.
“Well if we explain everything to them, surely they’d let us go. We are doing this to protect the Elements of Harmony.” Papilia asked.
“Please the Equestrians won’t believe a word we say if we get caught. They’ll think were with the attackers and this is all an elaborate ploy.” Alexandrae retorted scrunching her nose in disdain.
“Okay I have a question. Why don’t we just send a letter warning them?” Priamus asked.
“Multiple. One they probably won’t believe us. Second even if they did I wouldn’t put it past these guys to put a mole in the forces to lie and say we hired the attack. Another thing is that say all that doesn’t happen and they both believe us and don’t think we had anything to do with it we would still be back where we started with no information. Whoever these guys are they have a vendetta against our Hive we need to act to ensure that they don’t succeed.” Ivory responded.
“Oh.. okay.” Responded Priamus taking a step back from the table.
“I didn’t mean to dishearten you just pointing stuff out.” Ivory said affectionately.
“Oh it’s fine. I don’t know what I’m doing here anyway. I’m not very good at this logistical stuff.” She responded smiling sheepishly.
“Nonsense you’re the sweet little angel on our shoulders keeping us in line. You and Papilia of course.” Chrysalis said reassuringly putting her arms around both their shoulders. Making Priamus feel a little better but not quite stepping back up to the plate.
“Right, well back to the task at hand how do we get out of there?” Ebony asked stroking his chin-line.
“I actually think I have an idea.” Chrysalis said walking to the head of the table. “I have been racking my brain for a solution and I think I have a solution, but I wanted to wait and hear everyone’s thoughts.” She continued. “Clearly whoever these people are they’re not afraid to attack Equestria and perhaps even have their own plans for them and as the old saying goes “the enemy of my enemy is my friend.” She said a cheeky smile forming on her face. “I say we use their public spectacle against them. Your right if we attack them in secret before the wedding we would have a problem getting our troops out when things inevitably get loud.” Pursing her lips to conceal her devious smile. “So I say we let the wedding go according to plan monitoring their movements and just as they strike we stop them.” She now began walking around them. “Now instead of being framed for the attack we come out as heroes. Who saved the Elements of Harmony. I highly doubt the Equestrians couldn’t believe us then.” She finished returning to the head of the table.
“So you're suggesting an alliance with the Equestrians?” Alexandrae said raising her eyebrows.
“Desperate times call for desperate measures. Enemy of my enemy… blah blah all that stuff.” She retorted.
“Okay so now we have the added difficulty of getting 20 strangers near them at a wedding.” Ivory pointed out. “Unless we impersonate them in which case I don’t think they will take too kindly to that even if we do save them.”
“We don’t need to get 20 of them near them only three. You, me and Ebony of course.” She said.
“Because dear this going to go from rescue operation to diplomacy real quick and we need someone that can be diplomatic. Which you two aren’t.” Chrysalis deadpanned.
“Hey we know Ebony can’t...” Being interrupted by a sharp “Hey” from Ebony. “But I can be diplomatic.” Ivory retorted.
“Maybe in some situations but not this one. Besides you’d probably offend Celestia by mentioning something about her body, especially her breasts.” She responded. Prompting Ivory and Ebony to roll their eyes.
“Seriously I do not understand their obsession with the body. I mean you mention the word tit around them and they get all flabbergasted. Makes no sense.” Ivory muttered. “I mean I don’t get why they get offended about complimenting certain aspects of the body but not others.” Ebony nodded his head in agreement. “The body is beautiful they should appreciate it more.”
“By the way why did you mention her breasts specifically?” Ebony asked.
“Oh by the mothers they’re works of art. Her whole body is. Both her and Luna. To be honest I wonder how open their marriage is. I wouldn’t mind taking a roll with her. Maybe even Discord.” She said pensively.
“Chrysalis, really?” Arthemis scolded.
“What? She’s a knockout.” Chrysalis responded Arthemis only rolled her eyes in response. “Anyway back at the task at hand. It will be us three near them at all times when they strike you two know what to do.” She said
“Drop them?” Ebony asked smirking fiendishly.
“Like a couple of badasses.” He said fistbumping his brother with a confident smirk.
Chrysalis giggled at her sons cocky attitudes. “Alright go wash and rest up we leave early in the morning.” She said. “Alexandrae can you get everything ready?” She asked.
“Of course sister.” She replied with a slight salute. As everyone adjourned to prepare for the next two weeks events. Unknowing what their actions will mean for the world and their hive.
Ebony and Ivory: Next Generation.
The train ride from Appleoosa to Canterlot was a long and boring one. Most travelers dreaded the four hour ride but in one car the excitement in the occupants mounted. These occupants were not your normal tourists but the unknown royal family of the changelings. Surrounded by 20 of their best guards all incognito of course. Chryslais could feel the Hive-mind hum with activity from the changelings around her. Mentally prepping for the main event. She noticed the anxiety in her sons were just as anxious. As Ebony shifted in his seat for the hundredth time since departure.
He could feel his heart beat increase as the scenery shifted from pale desert. To the lush green fields of Equestria’s heartland. Chrysalis, disguised as a middle-aged but still beautiful black haired Equestrian. Smiled at her jittery sons. While Ebony was far more conspicuous. She could tell Ivory was just as anxious playing with his thumbs. His legs crossed and shoulders hunched. His whole body tensed up like a drawn bow waiting to fly. Ebony though was more like a predator on the prowl. Shifting and fidgeting. Flexing his hands, popping his knuckles, cracking his neck and licking his lips. Chrysalis could almost see his blood pump faster and faster in his veins. ‘Good. They need to be at their best for the battle. She placed a gentle hand on Ebony’s rocking knee getting his attention. “Ebony. I want you to take refuge in the rafters above the ceremony. I have a feeling they will strike during then. If they do I want you to put on a show.” She said with a conspiring smile. Ebony looked at her for a moment before replying with his own devilish grin.
Elsewhere, in the fair city of Canterlot the citizens were abuzz with joyous activity. Shopkeepers put out many of their wares at discount prices, some even for free. The grand wedding was only a week away and Celestia’s bright sun warmed the city with a soft peace. Celestia hummed to herself as she strode through the grand chapel. The same one that Cadance and Shining Armor married in. Around her workers set up decorations for the upcoming event. To the bride’s request the wedding was to have a natural motif. Beautiful flowers of every color. Lined the borders of the walls with mighty green vines stretching up to them. The ceiling had Celestia’s sun painted on it against a clear blue sky. The altar was gorgeous alabaster white wrapped by bright pink flowers.
“It’s beautiful.” She heard a voice whisper behind her. Turning around to the bride and groom wrapped in each other marveling at the preparations.
“Oh Harmony, good to see you.” Celestia replied walking over to them. “So, is everything according to plan. It’s not too grandeur is it? I know that you said you wanted this to be as modest as possible.” Celestia said surveying the room.
“Oh no, everything is perfect and beautiful.” She replied with a sugary sweet smile.
“Yeah, Mom it’s awesome.” Pan said gazing at the artwork on the ceiling. “This wedding is going to be amazing.” He said nuzzling into his bride as she playfully batted him away. Celestia smiled at the two taking in the scene before her. Between returning tyrants, vengeful spirits, invasions, and a literal demon from hell. Times had been anything but peaceful in recent history. Each of their parents can attest to that. However, seeing the two of prepare for one of the grandest events of their lives. The future looked to outshine the dark past.
“We’re nearing Canterlot. Last chance to rally the troops boys.” Chrysalis said as the train began the climb into Canterlot. Ebony and Ivory looked at each other before Ivory stood up and walked to the head of the cart.
“Alright, my changelings I’m going to be honest with you. We’re heading into a make or break situation. If everything goes wrong we’ll be horribly outnumbered. That's not even the worst of it. Our enemies want us in an all out war against the Equestrians maybe even the world. To make matters worse they intend to go about it by killing one of the Elements of Harmony.” He said with confidence but quietly. His last statement causing hisses from the disguised Changelings. “Our Hive will be torn apart by vicious war if we fail. Our brothers and sisters abroad will face worse persecution. They will be hunted down like dogs across the globe if we fail. Our hatchlings will suffer through starvation and unspeakable horrors if we fail.” He continued. “So we will not fail. You are the best of the best hand selected by my aunt and your beloved general. Will you let her down, will you slap her in the face and say that she is wrong by failing?” He asked eliciting a unanimous no from his audience. “Will you allow our Hive to suffer to the hands of our enemies by failing?” He asked again and the crowd responded with a much louder no. “So do not fail. For the Hive!” He called in a quiet but powerful voice slamming his fist into his chest. The changelings around him followed suit slamming their fist into their chests. Repeating his final words.. “Anything to add brother?” Ivory asked taking his seat again.
Ebony nodded in response and stood as well. “Make them rue the day they thought they could toy with our hive!” He barked but making sure his voice could not travel. “Tear them apart and remind them why we shouldn't be trifled with. We are Changelings and we will not lose!” He shouted his voice dark and commanding slamming his fist into his chest. The Changelings nodded in agreement. Also slamming their fists into their chests repeating the “we are Changelings” mantra.
Chrysalis smiled proudly as her sons rallied the troops. ‘They would have made great kings.’ She thought as a pink energy washed over them. The Changelings looked down as the null stones they were carrying illuminated before breaking. Yet their disguises remained.
“Shame I was hoping they would last a little longer than that.” Ivory commented.
“This is one of Shining Armor’s shields. It seems that the years have not degraded his power.” Chrysalis responded as the train began to pull into the station. As the group exited they noticed the large number of guards around the train.
“This doesn’t look good.” Ebony commented looking out the window. ‘Could they have warned off by the enemy or something else? Everything's ruined if we’re caught here.’ He thought. “Damnit why didn’t I think of this?” He cursed to himself.
“Relax brother this is a royal wedding drawing all kinds of unsavory characters arriving. Like you.” Ivory joked as he left the train. Ebony sat a moment longer counting how many guards there were before following. The passengers were then filed into lines to present their passports. The checkpoint was a large marble gate with gold trimmings. It had guards covering every square inch. Ebony was surprised at the diversity of the travelers around him. Griffons, Dragon-kin, even a Minotaur or two along with countless Equestrians had come out. Ebony quickly lost most of his soldiers in the crowd. He was able to keep track of his mother and stuck to her like a shadow as they entered a line. As he neared the porcelain arches he could see some of his soldiers made it to other side. Ebony was able to breath a sigh of relief. That relief was quickly sucked back when he saw Chrysalis was next. They chose to sneak as a family from Paris with different names. Chrysalis's pseudonym was Mirage. Ivory was to be Emerald Dawn. while Ebony was Platinum Arc. The guard scrupulously went over the passport. Shifting his eyes to Mirage and then back to the passport. Ebony could feel his racing heart beat even faster as the guard furrowed his eyebrows, and puckered his lips.
“Excusez-moi, isz there un problem?” She asked with a perfect Parisian accent.
“Sorry ma’m I just can’t believe that someone as gorgeous as you is 40 years old. You look younger than me.” He chuckled handing her the passport.
“Oh aren’t you un charmeur.” Mirage giggled blowing him a kiss and walking away. Ebony was finally able to breath again as she walked past the checkpoint and into the safety of their Changelings. The guard then waved Ebony over to be next.
“Hmm, Platinum Arc eh? Kind of name is that?” He asked looking over it.
“Oh une ma mother a choisi. Eh, Je work comme un smith.” Platinum replied with an acceptable Parisian accent.
“Smith huh, work or pleasure?” He asked.
“Travail, eh work.” Platinum replied. The guard gave one last look to the passport before waving him through.
“You're good to go, next.” The guard said as he waved over next in line. Platinum met up with his mother just as Emerald Dawn finished with his checkpoint. Chuckling like the guard still at the checkpoint.
“You and your new friend having a laugh?” Mirage asked as Emerald recomposed himself.
“La garde est à partir de Prance. Partagé une petite blague est tout frère. (The guard is from Prance. Shared a little joke is all brother.)” Throwing a jovial arm around Platinum
“You get way too into these disguises.” Platinum replied.
“Quel est le point de mettre un déguisement si vous ne obtenez pas en profiter?” (What is the point of putting on a disguise if you don’t get to enjoy it.) Ivory replied. Mirage chuckled putting her arms around them she twisted her hands through their hair.
“Alright boys enough jokes. The rest of you. You have your orders get to it.” She whispered to the Changelings around her. The captains of each group nodded before departing into the crowds. “Let’s go we have a wedding to get into.” She said walking down main street with her sons at her side.
The massive kitchens were filled with the best ingredients for the wedding. It smelled heavenly and with the best cooks in Canterlot. including Applejack, Apple Syrup and Agate Quartz. It was going to taste even better. Of all the foods she’s had she loved theirs the most. With Fluttershy’s being a close second. As she strode around the kitchens she noticed Apple Syrup frowning over a list in her hand.
“Hey Apple Syrup what’s the matter?” Harmony asked.
“Oh hey Harmony. These ‘professional’ chefs forgot the key ingredients for Apple family pie.” She said. “Ah’m gonna have to go out and get them before momma tears some fancy chefs head off.” She continued.
“Oh I can come with you.” Harmony offered.
“No, Ah’m sure you got plenty of things to plan.” She countered.
“Please, it feels like ages since we’ve done anything together.” Harmony pleaded giving Apple her own stare. Unlike Fluttershy harsh stare. Harmony’s was cuter than a baby rabbit, puppy and kitten begging for food. Nothing could escape it’s gaze and anyone who saw it would crumple into her bidding. Harmony never abused this power though. Probably because she didn’t realize she had it. Apple Syrup was no different lasting only milliseconds before giving in.
“Ah’ll right let’s go, you cutey.” She said. Harmony squealed in joy. Taking her friend’s arms in her's and out the castle.
The walk to the Canterlot markets is a rather short one. However, when almost everyone stops to congratulate you sometimes with gifts. The time doubles. She turned down each of their offers but thanked them for their kindness. While she left without any gifts. The storekeepers generosity elevated her already stellar mood.
“You look happier than a squirrel in a barrel of fermented apples.” Apple Syrup commented.
“Well, I can’t help it.” Harmony said. “I usually don’t like having all this attention but it’s making people so happy. So it strangely makes me happy. You know what I mean?” Harmony said looking at her friend.
“Ah can’t say ah know the feelin’ but ah think ah know when you say it.” Apple Syrup said.
“Thanks it’s weird I was kind of scared- oof.” Harmony was cut off as she ran into something large and sturdy knocking her to her knees. Thankfully not dropping the bag.
“Hey, watch where yer goin’!” She heard Apple Syrup shout.
“Oh, I’m sorry manquer.” She heard a deep friendly Prench accent say as a black gloved hand extended to her. The stranger helped Harmony to her feet. The owner of the hand was a tall man with black hair and kind red eyes.
“Oh I’m sorry it was my fault I should have been paying attention, Mr..” She said awating a response from the stranger.
“Oh my name is Platinum Arc.” He replied smiling at her. “Et this is my mother, Mirage, et my brother Emerald Dawn.” He said gesturing to the two behind him. His brother had bright emerald eyes and gorgeous blond hair that was in a ponytail. His mother was a gorgeous black haired woman.
“Bonjour my dear.” Mirage said giving a small courtsy.
“Bonjour.” Emerald Dawn said waving. “Would you like some help, manquer?” He asked holding out his hand.
“Oh we wouldn’t want to disturb you.” Harmony replied, waving them off. “Thank you though.”
“Oh but we insist my boys would be more than happy to assist such pretty young filles. You two wouldn’t happen to be in un relationship?” Mirage ask flowing past them and resting her hands on their backs. Making the two’s hair stand up at the breach of personal space.
“Actually yeah we are and are very happy. She’s actually getting married in a few days.” Apple Syrup said thumbing at Harmony and sliding away from Mirage.
“Oh you're getting married? How exciting. May I ask who ze lucky boy is?” Mirage asked
“It’s actually Prince Pandemonium.” Harmony simpered .
“Oh! Un prince how exciting!” She squealed giving Harmony’s shoulder’s a little shake. “Well now I insist. I could only imagine how challenging being a royal wedding could be. ” She said gesturing for her sons to take their bags.
“Oh, okay well if you really don’t mind.” Harmony said handing Platinum the bags for him to take. Emerald held out his arms to take Apple Syrup’s groceries. However, Applesyrup kept the bags in her custody.
“Thanks but if it’s alright with you ah’ll carry ma own bags.” Apple Syrup said. Emerald could only shrug at his mother who chuckled at the headstrong girl.
“She has a will stronger than iron.” Mirage chuckled. “Such a pity, too. She would have made a great match for you Platinum Arc.” She said. Apple Syrup and the young man began to blush at his mother’s comments.
“Mère, please you're embarrassing the poor fille.” Platinum moaned. Harmony couldn’t help but giggle at her friend's expense. Whose cheeks were still bright pink.
The newly formed group began to make their way down the street. Leaving Mirage and Harmony gossiping all about the wedding. From the decorations to some of the attendants. From ceremony location to the reception. Even some of the attendees to some of the staff. The two talked the entire way.
“So you are marrying a prince. That must be pretty scary but exciting.” Mirage commented.
“Yeah, but I don’t think of it like that. I’m not marrying a prince. I’m marrying my one true love, my best friend and that’s what makes me happy.” She replied
“That is beautiful mon cer. I’m sure you’re love will last forever. I wonder though since he is a prince won’t that mean there will be guards at your wedding?” Mirage asked.
“Yes, it's definitely something I never thought about as a child but I don’t mind too much. One of my friends, Prince Gallant Shield, is working on the security. He’s the son of Princess Cadance and Prince Shining Armor.” She replied. Mentioning the Crystal Kingdom family their companions eyes lit up with various emotions. “Besides they’re just doing whatever they can to make this perfect.” Harmony smiled as they came upon the castle doors.
“Well here we are. Thanks for the help and the chat. I hope you three plan on staying here for a while. I’d love to see you guys around." Harmony said relieving Platinum from his service.
“Yeah it was nice chatting with ya. Hope you enjoy yer stay in Canterlot.” Apple Syrup chirped opening the door.
“Thank you it was nice meeting you two and good luck with your wedding I’m sure it will be-.” A fit of coughing interrupted her sentence. “Oh, excusez-moi I got a tickle in my throat. Anyway as I was saying I’m sure your wedding will be... special.” She said as she turned to leave giving a little wave. Platinum and Emerald said nothing as they each gave small bow.
“Well that was a pleasant surprise. I wonder if they live here I could use some more Canterlot friends.” Harmony quipped walking toward the kitchen with Apple Syrup.
“Ah guess those guys weren’t much of talkers but they seemed nice.” Apple Syrup sighed following Harmony into the kitchen.
“Such a sweet girl. Naive, but sweet.” Mirage commented. As they walked away from the massive castle.
“Agreed, quite the talker. I’d say we have everything we need except a way to get into the ceremony.” Platinum responded.
“Oh boys let me take care of that you check on the men and get ready. This week is going to fly by.” Mirage responded.
