The Moon's Love

                 It was nighttime in Ponyville, the moon and the street lights were the only source of light. Not a lot of ponies were on the streets; the only ponies that were out either had dates at fancy restaurants or just sitting in the park, looking at Luna's beautiful moon. But there was one creature in Ponyville this night that was not a pony, he was a baby dragon, his name is Spike. The baby dragon was carrying a cart full of gems, from diamonds to topaz, the cart was so full ponies were wondering how such a small baby could pull it? Some late-night ponies tried to help the dragon, but he would respectful decline; reminding them that he may be a baby, but only by dragon standards, eve as a baby, his strength would equal to a average earth stallion, in pony years; he would turn eighteen in three months.

                Spike was extremely upset, His best friend, Twilight Sparkle, birthday was today. all of there friend were there; Fluttershy, Pinkie pie, Rainbow Dash, Applejack, and Rarity, even her parents would be present.The dragon sighed and stopped, pulling a large emerald out of the cart, in one swift motion, he consumed the rock and chewed loudly. After swallowing, he picked up the handle to the cart and began walking to the Golden Oaks Library.

               Now you might be wondering; why wasn't Spike invited to Twilight's party? he was her first friend, her BEST friend, she even hatched him for Celestia's sake! (with help from rainbow Dash and Fluttershy) but we are getting off topic; the reason why Spike was not invited is quite simple, Twilight forgot. The pony who remembers every single book in the GOL, the pony who went bat-shit crazy because she would miss sending a friendship report to princess Celestia and almost destroyed the town in the process of her meltdown, that he saved her from! SHE forgot to invite him; and that cut worse than the deepest knife wound.

              Spike was approaching the library when he heard somepony call his name; he turned around,It was the CMC, Sweetie Belle, Scootaloo, and Applebloom. Spike gave them a small smile before speaking. "Hey guys...what are you doing out so late? shouldn't you be in bed?" Scootaloo scoffed at his question. "We are thirteen, and its only 9:00" she pointed a hoof at Spike. "Aren't you a baby dragon? shouldn't you be the one in bed?" The other two fillies started to giggle at their friends remark.

             The dragon faceplamed, he was really getting tired of reminding of ponies his true age. " Scootaloo I am seventeen, I'm four years older then you! all of you! I am only a baby by dragon standards."

             Sweetie looked surprise, "Oh yeah, I guess we forgot, since you're the same size as us; we would all was assume you were our age."

             "Dragons mature at a extremely slow rate," Spike explained, " by the time I am my age in dragon years, your grandfoals will be gone, Anyway, why are you here?"

              Applebloom spoke next, "well since Applejack is gone, I asked Granny Smith if we could have a sleepover in the club house, She said yes, so I got Scootaloo first at her house, then Sweetie at the boutique, we were on our way back to the acres when we saw you with a sad look on your face caring that cart. I thought you were in Canterlot with Twilight and her friends?"

              Spike gritted his fangs in anger, but quickly clamed himself, these fillies did nothing wrong, they were just worried about their friend. "No I wasn't invited, so I decided to go gem hunting, I just got back."

              Scootaloo raised a brow. "How could Twilight not invite you? aren't you her son or something?"

              Again, the baby dragon faceplamed, "No scoots, Twilight is not my mom, she is my best friend. My mother is princess Celestia."

              The three Fillies eyes almost threatened to pop out of their sockets after hearing the startling news. "So does that mean you are a prince?"

              "I never wanted that title, I just want a loving mother and a normal life." Spike opened the door to the Library. "You guys want to come in for something to drink?"

                " Well thanks for the hospitality Spike, i would love something to drink; what about you girls?"

                "Sure!" Sweetie squeaked.

                Scootaloo shrugged "I have nothing better to do so why not."

                The dragon and three fillies walked into the GOL, the CMC sat on the couch while spike put up his gem cart, he then walked into the kitchen and poured four glasses of sparkling water, Spike then baked some triple chocolate fudge cookies with his fire breath. He placed the water on one tray and carried the cookies on the cookie sheet and walked in the living room. the three fillies mouth's started to water from the delectable treats in front of them. They attacked the tray, devouring all of the cookies in a matter of seconds. Spike's jaw hit the floor watching the CMC eat all of the food, he wanted to say something but he just shrugged and walked back to the gem cart; he pulled out a diamond, sapphire and one of his three fire rubies, he walked back and pull up a chair.

                "So what's been going on with you guys? still trying to find your cutie marks?" asked Spike.

                 Applebloom licked the chocolate off of her face before answering. " Of course! the crusade never ends until we get our marks!"

                 Scootaloo spoke next. "Yeah! just yesterday we tried to get our cutie marks as private investigators! but as you can see." she showed Spike her flank. We didn't get them."

                Spike ate his diamond in single gulp." don't worry you'll get your marks eventually, you just need to keep trying."

Of course Spike already knew what their special talents were, Twilight told him after the school house play; she made him pinkie promise not to tell them, "But you have piqued my curiosity, why were you trying to get private investigator cutie marks?"

              " Because Rarity has been really secretive lately, when Sweetie told us what was going on, I thought of the idea."

              "What has Rarity been doing?" spike was very curious know, he hasn't been to his long-time crush place of business in a while; the last time he went over there, she said she had important business with Applejack and told him to go back home.

              "Well, when we followed her she was doing odd things, she first went to a jewelry store and bought a orange hear -shape locket, Then she trotted to where you and her dig for gems"---

               "Wait a damn second, Rarity doesn't go gem hunting without me , especially after the diamond dog incident, what could be so important that see would risk getting captured by those mutts again?"

                "That's we thought too! but when she started digging in the dirt trying to find a gem, we knew it had to be extremely important. after ten minutes of digging she finally found what her horn was glowing for; a green heart-shape emerald." Sweetie pointed to the fire ruby on the table. "It looked exactly like that!"

              Spike put his finger under his chin; processing the information he just received. " A orange locket and a green emerald....who could Rarity could be giving that too?" Then the thought hit Spike like a moving train. "No It cannot be!" Spike gulped loudly and asked a question he already knew the answer to. " What happened next Sweetie Belle?"

              "Well" Sweetie explained, "after she got the emerald, she went back to the boutique, she then took a shower, fixed up her mane. put on her eyelashes, put on light purple eye shadow and red lipstick; she then--

              "Wait a another damn second!" Spike interrupted a second time, "Rarity wears fake eyelashes?!"

              Sweetie Belle huffed, "As I was saying before I was rudely interrupted, Rarity put the emerald in the locket and placed in a box, she walked into Sweet Apple Acres and talked to Applejack. They went into the barn and we peeked in the window."

               "And?" Spike was sweating bullets, fully prepared to be devastated.

              " We heard Applejack scream YES!!" Sweetie jumped in excitement, "then she tackled Rarity into a pile of hay and started kissing her."

              "NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!"

              The CMC covered their ears with their hooves to protect their sensitive eardrums, after 5 minutes of NO! Spike finally clamed down, but he had tears in his eyes and was trembling. "S-spike are you okay? why aren't you happy? Two of your best friends found their special somepony! that's a good thing!"

              "NO it's not! you case you haven't noticed, I have had a crush on Rarity since I came to Ponyville! and now I find out she wants Applejack?! I spent over a year working my ass off at her boutique; wasted my precious time trying to please her, trying to impress her! For Celestia's sake I even have acted as a pincushion for her! And now you tell me that she wanted Applejack all this time?! So to answer your question Applebloom; I am not happy, I am livid!!" Spike exhaled a small amount of emerald flames; When the CMC saw this they immediately backed away. After the fire faded, they noticed Spike trying to hold in his tears; he was failing miserably. The CMC jumped from the couch and embraced Spike in a tight hug.

            "Spike...It will all be okay" Sweetie patted Spike on his back, "just let it all out."

              After Sweetie said those words, Spike let the flood gates open, he cried over a years worth of tears for five whole minutes. After he started to clam down, hiccupping in the process, Scootaloo spoke next.

             "Geez dude, I thought you were an adult, but your acting like a child with those waterworks."

             Spike chuckled a little from Scootaloos comment, "Yeah,,, I guess I am still a child."

             "Tell me this Spike?" Applebloom looked Spike dead in his eyes. "If it wasn't for the crush, would you have even talked to Rarity?"

              Spike's eyes widen in the shocking realization; if he didn't like Rarity in the first place, they would have not been friends in the first place. " I might have lost a special somepony, but I still have my friend."

              Applebloom patted Spike on the back; "That is a very grown up way to think Spike I'm proud of you!'

             " Thanks a lot you guys...you're good friends." The four friends shared one more hug before Spike looked at the clock. " Hey Applebloom shouldn't you be leaving? I bet Granny Smith is worried sick."

             " Oh my gosh Spike You're right! come on cutie mark crusaders! onward to the clubhouse!"

               The CMC said goodbye to Spike and ran out of the door, not even bothering to close it. "heh, those are some good kids...I'm really glad they are my friends." Spike shut the door, picked up a Daring Do book, sat on the couch and began to read.

                Princess luna was busy wtih night court, very few ponies would come at night to tell Luna there problems, especially since most of them still see her as nightmare Moon. She was about to retire for the night when a mare walked through the doors. Luna's ears perked up, her smile brightend. "Hello our loyal subject! What problems do you wish to tell your night princess?!" Luna forgot to not use the Canterlot royal voice; she almost burst the the poor mares eardrums.

           " Oh..wow..that was really loud." the mare munbled to herself. "No your highness i dont have any problems. I was just looking for the bathroom, can you tell me where it is?"

            Lunas happy expression quickly falterd, she sighed and pointed down the hall the mare came from. " Before you go, tell us why did you come in the palace then?"

            "My daughters birthday is today, her party is the one outside."

           " Your daugther is Twilight Sparkle?" Th mare nodded, "Student of my Sister?" She nodded again. "Then I must thank you."

            The mare looked confused. "What for your highness?"

           "Beacuse of your loins, my niece has found her true love and i have been freed of the nightmare; for these things you have my eternal thanks. What is your name my subject?"

           The mare blushed in embarrassment, only her husband talks about her like that. "Um...Twilight Velvet."

            Luna nodded her head. "It is a appropriate name, do you have any more questions to ask me?"

            "No your highness, thank you for telling me where the bathroom is" Twilight Velvet bowed and went to the bathroom.

            Luna sighed yet again and slumped in her throne, she wasn't invited to the party either. "why did Twilight not invite us? we thought we became good friends after the Nightmare Night? were we mistaken?" Luna looked at the clock, it was 10:00.

             "Guards, you are both excused, you may go home." Both guards saluted and departed to their homes. Luna then rose up from her throne, flew to the window, and looked at the party below. Highercrust unicorns were mingling around the sun princess, trying to lick Celestias ass, she wanted no part of their ambitions and excuse herself to go talk to Twilight but stopped when she got to close. Celestia seemed nervous about something when she was talking to Twilight, "What could Celestia be nervous about?" Luna grew a mischievous grin, she hasn't eavesdropped on anything in over a thousand years ,and now she had the perfect opportunity to do so; she opened the window and flew onto a nearby cloud; from her viewpoint she could see the entire party.

              The party at this point was in full swing; ponies were eating delicious food, drinking fine Canterlot wine and having a good time in general--until he decided to crash the party. Prince Blueblood, nephew to Princess Celestia; is not that bad a guy. Since he is a prince, mare are constantly throwing themselves at him, so at the GGG he thought Rarity was a "Thirsty gold digger" trying to find a way to become royalty, he did everything in his power to act like a horrible douchebag. But after he learned about her being the element of generosity and her hand in freeing his aunt and defeating Discord, he knew he had to apologize to her. But how would he approach her? there was no doubt in the prince's head that she hated his guts. he thought of his plan for a few seconds until he saw his aunt shuffling her hooves very nervously, Blueblood trotted to his aunt to find out what was pestering her mind.

             "Hello Auntie , what seems to be the problem?"

           Celestia looked at her nephew. "Blueblood? I'm surprised to find you here, I didn't know you were invited."

             "I wasn't, I am her to apologize to miss Rarity over my behavior at the Gala, but I think you are trying to ignore my first question." The prince gave his aunt a smirk.

               Celestia sighed, "fine! if you must know, I am trying to find the right opportunity to tell Twilight my feelings for her."

               Prince Blueblood facehoofed, he always knew his aunt had affections for the lilac unicorn. " Auntie you control the sun, have ruled a nation for over a thousand years, and defeated a crazy spirit of chaos; and you mean you to tell me you cannot tell your student you have a crush on her?!"

             Celestia hid behind her flowing mane. "Yes" she squeaked.

            Prince Blueblood puffed out his chest and walked in front of Celestia. "Now you listen here missy, you will go over there' He pointed his hoof to twilight." And you tell her your true feelings!"

            Celestia gave a weak "Yeah."

            "What's that? I didn't hear you!"

           She gave a louder "Yeah!"

           " I still cant hear you!!"

          Celestia screamed in the royal Canterlot voice." YEAH!!!" I WILL TELL HER!" everypony in attendance turned to see there ruler with a face full of confidence; then she teleported to twilights side.

          "Twilight, I need to tell you something in private."

         "  Oh! of course princess." Celestia placed a hoof on twilight's lips "from now on, call me Celestia." her horn glowed and both of them were gone.

            Blueblood felt extreme proud and happy for his aunt, His facial expression screamed "I hooked them up." But the prince had a apology to deliver. He searched the crowd of ponies trying to find the ivory mare, "Aha! there she is!" Blueblood spotted Rarity talking with fancy pants, a good friend of his, but something was very wrong with this picture; Rarity had her hoof wrapped around the earth pony Applejack in a loving manner. The prince had nothing against mare-on-mare relationships, but he knew his cousin Spike has had a crush on Rarity since he moved to Ponyville. The prince waited for a break in the conversation so that he could sneak in.

           "hello good Fancy pants, it has been too long old friend, oh!" Blueblood pretended to just now seeing Rarity and Applejack. " And good evening to you ladies." Blueblood gave a gentlemanly bow.

            Rarity raised a brow at the changed prince. "Good even to you to Prince Blueblood, What brings you here?"

            "I am actually here to apologize to you miss rarity for my actions at the Gala. My behavior was uncalled for and just plan rude; you see, as a prince, mare are always after me, so as a defense, I act rude to them. So when you came to me at the gala, I naturally thought you were just after my money and fame so I acted like a horrible snob. And for that I am truly sorry." Blueblood gave such a deep bow that his muzzle almost touched the ground.

            Rarity's jaw went slightly slack, she never would have thought Blueblood would ever feel sorry for what he did. She pulled herself back together, " well thank you. prince blueblood your apology is accepted."

             Blueblood got back up, "Thank you Rarity, So who is your friend?"

             Applejack grabbed bluebloods hoof and start shaking it so rapidly, she threatened to rip his limb off. "Howdy partner! I'm Applejack, Rarity's marefriend." Applejack let go of the prince's hoof, it looked floppy and defeated. Blueblood put his hoof down to the ground. "A marefriend?" Rarity I had no idea you swinged that way."

            Rarity blushed. " Yes, after the gala fiasco, Applejack helped me out quite a lot to deal with my....broken fantasy."

Blueblood felt a ting of guilt hit him, " Holy shit I turned Rarity off stallions! if Spike finds out, he'll burn off my luxurious mane!"

             ".....I see so do your friends know?"

             "Eeyup! Twilight, Rainbow Dash , Fluttershy and Pinkie know; we just told them today at the party. Pinkie wants to throw us a party when we get back to Ponyville, but I tried to tell her that we don't want one, then her mane deflated, so we told her she could throw us one when we get back."

               "Does Spike know?"

                Applejack looked confused, "Prince Blueblood, how do you know Spike?"

                " He is my cousin, he was raised by the princess herself, it's suppose to be secret only the royal family and twilight's family should know; but I thought you were his friends? surely he told you by know? "

                 Rarity shook her head.  "No, he never told us who his mother is, we always thought it was Twilight."

               Now it was Bluebloods turn to raise a brow. "Why would the princess give a 6-year old filly a baby dragon to raise?"

               Applejack looked at Rarity, "That does seem ridiculous when you say it out loud, but prince Blueblood, why did you ask about Spike in the first place?"

                " We'll I just thought Spike wouldn't take the new very well."

                Rarity gasped loudly. "Does Spike have a prejudice against same sex couples?! Oh no! that could cause a rift in our friendship! and that would be the worst.possible.thing!"

              " I don't think Spike has a prejudice again lesbians, I think he would be upset that his long-time crush is no longer on the market."

               "Well gosh, I never knew the little feller liked me like that, I guess I should have seen it when he tried to kiss me when we saved Rarity from the diamonds dogs."

                 Blueblood facehoofed again with his now bad hoof." No miss Applejack, Spike has a crush on Rarity."

                 Rarity's eyelashes almost popped out, "What?! I never knew spike liked me!"

                "Really? When Spike would come on royal business he would always take about the beautiful rarity. You mean to tell me that after a year of knowing him, you never realized his crush? "

               " No, I never did. I always thought he was just trying to be a good friend."

                "I see" Blueblood looked around the party, he could not find Spike anywhere. " Is Spike even here?"

                Rarity and Applejack looked around, and sure enough, they could not find the purple and green baby dragon anywhere. "Oh my! he isn't here! where could he be?"

              "Was Spike even invited? I must say I am shocked at Twilight's behavior, he is her best friend, If Celestia wouldn't send me into the sun, I would give that mare a piece of my mind!" Blueblood stomped his good hoof into the ground to emphasize his point. Blueblood said goodbye to the mares and went back into the castle; not knowing of a shy yellow Pegasus watching his every move.

              Princess Luna looked appalled, young Spike was not at the party! The night princess pondered on his possible location. " We know he is not in the castle or the city in general, the only other possible location is Ponyville! we shall pay a visit to our scaly subject." Luna's horn glowed in a dark blue aura, she teleported to Ponyville in a large black flash, scaring many of her subjects in the process.

             "What in the hay was that?!" Twilight screamed, after Celestia teleported them to her room, the solar god told twilight how she felt about her. Imagine Celestia's surprise when twilight returned her feelings! The sun princess was currently buried in twilight's haunches; she was sucking twilight's clit when she screamed.

               "Why did you scream twilight? Is something going on outside?"

                Twilight looked out the window and only saw the night sky. "Nothing is outside Celestia, now get your head back down there!"

                Celestia gave twilight a lusty grin; "With pleasure birthday girl."

                 Spike just finished his Daring do book, he looked at the clock. "It's already eleven?" Spike's stomach grumbled, he was hungry again. "I guess those gems didnt do anything to sate my hunger." Spike jumped off the couch and went back to the gem cart; he pulled out five diamonds and walked back to the couch. "Hello delicious, come to papa!" Spike put the 5 carat diamond in between his teeth when he heard somepony knocking on the door. "Who could that be?!" Spike mumbled, jumped off the couch and opened the door; the diamond was still in his mouth.  when he saw who it was he spit out the diamond.

            "Good night, young Spike, we hope we are not intruding on your late night meal?" Luna pointed to the large diamond on the floor.

           "Of course not princess Luna." Spike picked up the diamond and ate it in one gulp. "Please make yourself at home."

           Luna walked into the library and sat on the couch. " Spike, call us Luna, we are *Off the clock*."

           Spike followed behind her and hopped on to the couch too. "Okay Luna but what are you doing here? Shouldn't you be at Twilight's party?" Spike saw the sad look on the night princesses face, his growing with concern. "What's wrong Luna did something happen at the party?"

          "No Spike, we were not invited like you."

           "I see, it sucks doesn't it?"

            "Indeed it does suck, But we eavesdropped on the party and learned about generosity and honesty's relationship."

            Spike looked dejected, "Yeah I learned about that today too. I still almost cant believe it."

            Luna wrapped her wing around Spike and pulled him into her side, this caused Spike's purple cheeks to turn beet red. "Do not worry young Spike, you shall find somepony just for you; you just have to be patient." Luna looked down at Spike with a smile.

           "Thanks Luna, So you didn't try to talk to Twilight while you were there?"

            Luna huffed, "No we did not speak with Twilight Sparkle, she did not want us, so we do not associate with her. Besides, she was too busy with our sister."

           Spike looked shocked, but decided to ask Celestia when he sees her. "So what were you doing before you started eavesdropping?"

           Luna released Spike, "We had night court, but nopony showed up except for one but she just needed directions to the bathroom." She then laid down on the couch with her legs tucked underneath her. "Ever since we have returned, our subjects still see us as nightmare moon, the bringer of eternal darkness. although Ponyville has accepted us, the rest of the kingdom still views us as a monster."

         Spike looked into Luna's cyan eyes; she had the same eyes as him; he could feel the hurt, pain and her suffering. "I understand how you feel, I am the only dragon citizen in Equestria, even in Ponyville I still get the stares and angry glares. Most dragons are monsters; terrorizing city's and burning everything to the ground." Spike brought his palm to his face. "And one day, even if it is thousands of years later, I will be the same as them."

        "No, you are not a monster and you will never be one. You are one of the most kindest souls I have ever met in my life. you are my friend, even when all of the others are gone, I will be there to make sure you never become a monster."

         "Thanks Luna, and you don't have to worry either! The ponies will become more accepting of you eventually, as you give them such a wonderful gift." Spike got up from the couch, walked to the window he beckoned Luna to follow him, she did so and they both looked at the moon." back in the day, when you were still banished, mom use to raise the moon, but it was dull and boring. It was a huge rock in the sky that took up space... Back then mom never told me about you, so I thought it was her natural duty to control both celestial bodies." Spike looked Luna directly in the eyes. "Then you showed up, the day after you can back and raised the moon; it was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. you made the moon seem like it was full of life, it was so bright in the night sky I didn't need a lamp to read at night. for a thousand years, the world had a lifeless rock, but now? there is something in the night sky that eclipses the sun."

           Spike never saw the kiss coming.
