Fading Rainbows
Ch. 3-A bad case of tears
Previous ChapterNext Chapter“A-are you crying?” he asked surprised as he inched closer to Rainbow, “NO” she snapped at him. She was right, she wasn’t crying but her eyes where pretty glassy, she wanted to cry but she wasn’t letting herself. “Hey you don’t have to act so tough around me, if you want to cry than cry” he said with a caring voice, “no I can’t cry, or he wins, I can’t break, or he wins, I’m not letting him win” she said with her voice slightly cracking enough for him to noticed, “who wins?” he asked sitting down very worried now, “I can’t say, it makes me look weak, I am not weak” she said determined to stop the flood of tears pushing at her eyes, “I have to go” she said with a squeak and then flew away.
She stopped on a puffy white cloud and couldn’t contain herself anymore. She cried and cried, she sat the sobbing for five minutes before a familiar voice came back to meet her, “Rainbow! What in Equestria is wrong with you?” Soarin’ asked with his eyes wide at the sobbing pegasus, she said nothing back to him, she just stopped crying, “I’m sorry, but I think you need to cry” he said bewildering himself at his own statement, “why do you care so much” she sniffled with a deadly glare pointed his way, “why shouldn’t I care” he said as he brought a cloud over next to her and placed wing on her back to comfort her, “don’t touch me” she said immediately backing off her cloud, his eyes got wide in shock at her reaction “what’s wrong with her, any other sad mare would have loved to get a hug from him, but she just seemed downright scared” he thought. Dash was showing her true emotions for the first time in two and a half weeks, and her emotion was scared and tortured; fear lit up in her eyes as she stared down at the stallion who had just tried to hug her. “Dash what is wrong, please tell me maybe I can help” his voice was smooth and calming, and his eyes were sincere, “I-I was raped a couple weeks ago, don’t worry they caught the guy, but the guy was a close friend of mine that I trusted up until he hit me over the head and knocked me out” she said quietly starting to cry again, she sat back down on the cloud but stayed on the edge of it. Soarin’s eyes grew wide a the scared mare unraveled what had happened not too long ago, her friend had abused and raped her twice, now she has trust issues and is terrified of anything or anypony that tried to touch her, “Dash” was all he could get out of his mouth, he sighed and continued “just cry Dash, he won’t win if you cry, he wins if he gets into your head and controls your life” he said quietly as she took in what he said, she listened and started sobbing again.
She sat there with him sobbing for a majority of the night; Soarin’ tried a wing hug once again to comfort her. She let him and even scooted into him for warmth; she laid her head down and just sat there with the broken breathing. He sat with her comforting her then remembering something she had mentioned, “Dash, when you said telling me about the incident made you look weak you were wrong, you don’t look weak to me” he said trying to comfort her, “yes I do, I’m weak and vulnerable right now, I am so bucking pissed at myself right now” she said sadly, “stop torturing yourself Dash, I don’t like seeing you like this” he sighed, “well you don’t have to, I got to go back to my suite now, thanks Soarin’” she said as she flew away, he was sad that she was gone, but he had to go too.
“Have a fun date last night?” Surprise said jumping into hotel Suite they were staying at, “I didn’t have a date” he grumbled as he was barely trying to wake up, “don’t lie Soarin’ it isn’t a very good habit” she snickered, “I saw you on that cloud with a mare, I saw you cuddling her” she continued, “I was comforting her, she needed some help and I was the stallion who fit I guess” he said a little annoyed, “oh yes some help I see” she started giggling, “NO, don’t even joke about that, she had a very traumatic experience, Rainbow Dash could barely be touched by a hug without jumping scared!” he yelled at her, “oh that was Dash? I am so sorry, I had no idea it was her, I feel bad for the mare” she said sadly, “whatever, I’m going off to find her, do you know what hotel they are staying in?” he asked obviously annoyed, “yup, they are staying in the castle” she giggle softly “of course they are” he sighed and took off to find his new friend. He arrived at the castle and realized he didn’t want to go prancing in through the front doors so he searched any open windows he could see. Window after window seemed to fail for him until he got to a particular high room, once he glanced inside and saw the pretty light blue pegasus with a rainbow mane, doing some stretches and exercises that looked like her morning routine. He tapped on the window with his hoof making her jump two feet in the air. “Damn it Soarin’ you scared me again” she cursed at him, but was strangely happy to see him, “oops sorry Dash” he said blushing, “can you explain why you hunted down my suite?” she asked suspiciously, “what, no Dash, I mean, I just wanted to see you again, not that I was trying anything, and sorry” he stuttered to find the words, she chuckled and flew outside the window and over to a cloud. “
He landed next to her and they sat down again like they did the night before. “I’m glad to see that you aren’t crying anymore” he smiled, “I actually cried all last night, fell asleep on it, somehow it made me feel better, but it still hurts” she said as another tear unlatched from her eye and dripped down, he caught I with his hoof and wiped it away, “please no more crying, I’d like to see you happy” he said with a goofy smile, “but I thought you said you wanted me to cry” she said with a chuckle, “no I said it might help, not that I like to see you cry” he corrected as they sat there in silence
