Scootaloo's Secret

Scootaloo has been having dreams (nightmares to be exact) about what happened to her parents and her brother. Do the crusaders know about them? Have they asked? Why is she keeping this a secret...is there something she doesn't want to tell them?

Nightmares begin

Scootaloo jumps from her bed and starts weeping silently. "Why are they coming back?" She wonders, "Last time I had that dream was when-" she stops. Scootaloo gets out of bed and opens the window. "It's Friday morning." she grumbles. She heads to the sink and splashes water on her face and starts to get ready for school. "Bye Aunt Buttercup!" She grabs her backpack and runs out to the door heads for school.

On her way she meets Sweetie Belle and Apple Bloom, "Hey guys! What's the plan after school?"
Sweetie Belle pipes up "Maybe we can try to get our cutie marks in ballroom dancing! It seems so fun and classy"
Sweetie Belle spins herself around only to hit the floor. Apple Bloom laughs and picks Sweetie Belle up.
"Ah don't know Sweetie Belle Ah ain't much of a dancer, remember the Talent show? We were the laughing stocks at school for almost a month!" The crusaders all shudder at the memory. "Plus Ah caint go I gotta go visit mah ma at the hospital."
Sweetie Belle gasps "Oh my gosh! Is she alright?" Apple Bloom nodds quickly
"Oh she's fine, she just slipped on a rotten apple at the orchard and hurt her back. Doctor's said she'll be good as new about a week. Nothin can stop these apples."
Sweetie Belle and Apple Bloom laugh. Scootaloo stays quiet with her head down.

The girls finally get to school. Sweetie Belle and Apple Bloom run inside, Scootaloo looks at her classmates and their parents.
"I made your favorite dessert and put it in a container for lunch."
Silver spoon's mother hands her the lunch bag, she then hugs her mom.
"Thanks mom your the best!"
"Honey be good alright!"
"I will mom!"
A tear falls from Scootaloo's eye she quickly wipes it away and walks inside her class.

Chapter 2

Scootaloo couldn't pay any attention in class she was too busy wondering about her dream. "It might be a sign"
"Which gives us the answer?" Cheerilee looked at the distracted filly
"Scootaloo?"
Scootaloo looks up at her teacher "Yes, mam?"
Cheerilee chuckles "Which gives us what?"
Scootaloo scratches her head "Um...45?"
Cheerilee smiles "Correct!"
Scootaloo lets out a big breath That was really close I need to pay attention before I get in trouble.

Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo walk home from school together. Sweetie Belle tries to start up a conversation
"Hey scoots my parents are having a barbecue this Saturday wanna bring your folks along too?"
Scootaloo tenses up "Um...I don't think they can make it, my dad has to work and my mom is uh.. really busy."
Sweetie's smile disappears "Oh ok...hey Scoots?"
"Yeah?"
"Are you ok?"
Scootaloo gulps "I-I-I'm fine."
"Really? Because you don't seem fine, you look like you haven't slept very well, you look really tired, I think you need to-"
Scootaloo finally snaps "I SAID I WAS FINE! NOW SHUT UP AND LEAVE ME ALONE!
A few ponies quickly turn around at the sudden burst. Scootaloo yells at Sweetie who is clearly tearing up wondering what just happened. She then realizes what she just did
"I'm so sorry Sweetie Belle." she whispers and runs home.
She didn't mean to yell at Sweetie Belle she just has been feeling well lately. She's sorry she took it out on the purple and pink haired little filly. What is wrong with me? Now I'm yelling at my friends? I need to talk to someone.

Scootaloo heads towards Rainbow Dash's home, hoping she can at least talk to her, unfortunately she wasn't home. Oh thats right its her naptime. She's probably on a cloud somewhere in the sky. Oh well I guess I'll check on her later.

Scootaloo heads home, exhausted from not sleeping well. She goes to her room and passes out.

Epilogue

Scootaloo nightmares have gone and never came again. Rainbow Dash, Sweetie Belle, and Apple Bloom have convinced Scootaloo that it wasn't her fault it was all an accident. Although she still misses her brother and mom, Rainbow Dash does what she can to comfort her. In the later years, Rainbow dash is like a big sister/mother to her. She is a strong mare and a wonderbolt just like she promised her little brother. After every show she says "Thanks Rain and thanks mom for watching over me I love you."

Chapter 3

(In Scootaloo's dream) "Where am I? Mom?"
"Hello Scootaloo"
"Mom! I missed you so much!" Scootaloo runs towards her mother. Scootaloo's mom disappears,"Mom? Where did you go? Don't leave me please!"
Scootaloo begins to cry.
"Big sis?"
"Rain chaser?"
"Where am I why am I bleeding? Why am I dead?"
Scootaloo cries "I'm so sorry I didn't mean to hurt you I didnt want this to happen!"
"Sis? No I wanna go! I want to stay with you!" Scootaloo tries to hug her little brother but hugs nothing but air.
"NO! DONT GO! I'M SO SORRY!" Scootaloo sits up and cries "I'm sorry! I'm so sorry!"

Sweetie Belle and Apple Bloom are talking in the clubhouse.
"And then what happened?" asked Apple Bloom
"Well she just apologized and ran off."
"There's something that filly ain't tellin us."
"I know and have you noticed she tenses up when we mention our parents or hers?"
"Yea, how com we never seen em before?" Sweetie shrugs
"I don't know we'll just have to ask her."

Scootaloo runs to the clubhouse, when she gets there she sees Sweetie Belle and apologizes right away
"I'm so sorry Sweetie Belle I didn't mean to yell at you. I have been so stressed lately and not getting much sleep, and I've been having nightmares. I'm so sorry!"
Sweetie Belle and Apple Bloom look at each other.
"It's alright I forgive you, but Scoots why have you been acting like this?"
"Like what?" Apple Bloom joins in on the conversion
"You've been real quiet, distracted, getting hardly no sleep, having nightmares, and yelling."
"Yea and how come we never seen your parents." Scootaloo sighs
"It's a long story, it all happened when..."

Accidents can happen

The two young fillies were all ears. Scootaloo sighed and began.
"It happened 5 years ago, my dad left my mom for another mare, I had a little brother who was just 4 years old." Scootaloo let a tear fall, "His name was Rain Chaser, my mom was taking us to our new home."

(Scootaloo's flashback)
"Mommy!"
"Yes Scootaloo?"
"Where are we going?"
Scootaloo's mother smiled "Were going to a new home."
"Wheres daddy?" Scootaloo asked
Scootaloo's mom teared up "Daddy's not going to live with us anymore."
Scootaloo got mad and began to scream "No! I want daddy now! He cant go!" She jumps up and down waking up her little brother.
"Scootaloo! Sit down!"
"No! I want daddy now!"
Scootaloo's mom turns around to sit her down not watching the road. Scootaloo's mother loses control of the car and crashes in a nearby tree. Scootaloo sees her mother and cries. "Mommy?! What's wrong why aren't you moving?" She tries to get up "Ouch!" Her wings and back leg was broken. "Rain Chaser?"
"Scootaloo!"
She quickly turns around to face her little brother and doesn't like the sight at all.
Rain chaser was bleeding from his bright orange head.
"Big sis? My head hurts real bad." He begins to cry, "What's wrong with mama? Why is she sleeping?"
Scootaloo bites her lip to keep from crying. "Don't worry Rain Chaser, everything going to be okay."

"Somepony called the ponimedics and took us to a nearby hosptial. I got better in a few months but the doctor's said that I wont be able to fly well until I'm a young adult."
Scootaloo gulps and lets out a tear, "My mom died on instant and Rain Chaser he died after 3 days in the hospital."
Scootaloo cries,"I was beside him the whole time! I watched him as he suffered slowly until he died! No pony should have suffered painfully like that! Especially at his age! He was too young!"
Scootaloo bawls and cries even louder. "The last thing he said to me before he died."

Flashback
Scootaloo begins to cry as she watched her brother slowly die. Rain Chaser sees her and says "Don't cry big sis you look sad I don't like it when you look sad. I'ma see momma in a little while. I spoke to her when I dreamed, she said Don't you worry little one I love you and Scootaloo I'll see you soon. Mama still loves us she said she'll be watching over us up there." Rain Chaser points up. "Bye big sis promise me you'll be a strong filly and a good flyer like the wonderbolts."
"I promise Rain."
beep beep beep beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep

Scootaloo calms down and looks at her two best friends who are crying. Apple Bloom has a box of tissues and blows her nose.
"Scootaloo?"
"Rainbow Dash?! How long have you been here?"
"Long enough." Rainbow hugs the little filly.
