Hello my name is Dusk, I lived in the Everfree forest with Zecora ever since I was a filly, I help her out and sometimes invent new brews but it wasn't always that way. I use to live with my mom BookSpell, we always had lots of fun together, we would bake pie, write silly stories and all kinds of other things but it didn't last long.
This is my story, this is my life.

It all started when I was 7, I lived with my mom back then and I still didn't have my cutie mark it was then where I discovered what I really was.

"Mom are sure I'm an alicorn? Cause I look a lot similar to the pony in the news"

as soon as I said that my mom turned around and turned off the TV

"No sweetie your not like that pony, you were born as an alicorn and I'm sure you are" she said.

I was still curious about the pony on TV so I went to my room and searched in the book Pony species but it wasn't there
Is it in the book that mom hides under her bed? I thought so I sneaked into my mom's room and got the book but then
I heard my mom coming into the room so I quickly hid under the bed.

Soon my mom left so I just read the book under her bed just in case she came again.
The room was dark so I tried doing a illumination spell that will light up your horn "Hrrnngg" luckily I was able to create a dim light with my horn.

And so I read the title "Creatures of all Kinds hmm sounds interesting now lets see..."
I flipped the pages of the book looking at the illustrations of the creatures hoping to find it.
"Aha hear it is!" I yelled but then I covered my mouth and I read the biography of the creature

Changelings.
A creature known to take the form of others and feed on the love that the victim's loved ponies make.
Changeling are dark grey with skin that feels like led, have holed hooves, fangs,long deer like ears that are torn, insect like eyes and wings, they also have a silky like mane and horn shaped like a thorn.

reading that description I looked at the illustartion of one and immediately closed the book not reading anything else, walked up to the full sized mirror my mom had, and there I saw a
dark purple pony,with orange irises, with pegasi wings, blue mane and tail, a thorn like horn, small fangs and holed hooves that were dark grey that faded to dark purple at my knee. I rubbed my hooves on my cheek checking if it felt like led and it did.

I ran out of my mom's room and went to the kitchen
"M-m-mom... Am I a changeling?" I asked she walked up to me and said
"You read the book didn't you?" I nodded, she sat next to me and put her wing around me

"Guess it's time I tell you. (sigh) Well Dusk your father was a changeling and at first we didn't get along but soon I fell in love with him. We soon started living together in secret but the guard found out about him and made him leave but before that we made you... You were also born in secret and no one knows about you or at least I don't think so.
Anyway your not a changeling but only half the other half is a Pegasus just like me."

I stared at my mom for a while trying to take it all in
"Why didn't you tell me?" I asked

"Because before you were to young to know." she responded

"So I'm not an alicorn after all..." I frowned and lowered my head, my Mom held me up closer

"No your still an alicorn cause you can use magic and Changelings can't." Mom smiled and went back to the kitchen
"The pie is ready!"
"Yaay!!" I ran up to the kitchen and stared at the delicious raspberry pie
"It still hasn't cooled yet so go outside and practice your flying!" she said
"Ok" I went outside and flew all around, I tried doing some tricks but all I was good at was circles.

It was night time and I was getting ready to go to bed but then I got this weird tingly feeling in my horn like something bad was going to happen.
After brushing my teeth I went to my Mom
"Mom I think something bad is going to happen" Mom's ears perked up and looked at me with a worried face

"Then go get your saddlebags ready, don't put to much stuff in it just a book, some food and a lighter"

"Why?" I asked
"Tomorrow if you here someone knocking at the door any unusual noises grab your saddlebags and fly as fast as you can to the Everfree forest that way" my Mom pointed south and looked at me with a seriouse face. I went to my room and did exactly what she told me to do except for the flying south part.

The next day I was eating breakfast when my Mom and I heard some knocking at the door

"Dusk go get your saddlebags and do as I told you yesterday"

I looked at her hesitantly

"NOW!"

she yelled, I ran to my room and did just that but while I was grabbing my bags I heard some crashing noises and I looked outside of my room,
I will never forget that moment, my Mom was holding of a stallion from the guard and yelled

"GO DUSK RUN, NEVER FORGET ME AND KNOW THAT I LOVE YOU!!!"

as soon as I heard those words I ran into my room and bucked the window and flew away with my bags.

"It's getting away! Go get it!"

the commander of the stallions pointed at me from outside and one of the stallions started flying up to me.
As I saw him fly up I started flapping my wings as fast as I could and I flew south.

During that time I never looked back not until I crashed into a Pegasus with a rainbow mane
"Hey look were your going squirt!"
she yelled, I kept on flying except a little slower seeing that the stallion wasn't following me anymore but the rainbow maned mare kept on following me
"Think your faster than me huh?"
another voice followed us "Rainbow Dash leave that filly alone and go to bed!" it yelled
"Coming Mom, Ugh I can't wait till I turn 18, I'll see you later Squirt"
the mare soon turned around and flew the other way.

I kept on flying till my wings felt like they were about to fall of, I was starting to land and I was getting near a dark and creepy forest which I guessed was Everfree forest.

It soon started to get closer and closer but the forest was so thick that there was no room for me to land and even worse my body started to collapse and my wings completely stopped flapping, and I was soon falling out of the sky.
I didn't have any energy left to scream so I just fell and I quickly started crashing into the branches of the trees.
Finally I hit the ground, I couldn't feel my body, everything felt bruised and my sight started to turn blurry and my eyes started to close, the last thing I saw was a gray pony walk in front of me then it all went black.
