The frightened Marston family awaits solution in their barn, the only thing that separates them from the full fury of the US Army and Bureau agents. Quickly thinking, John unties the reins from a hitch in the barn and leads a chestnut brown stallion out of his stable.
"Hey c'mon, Jack, darlin' get on this horse. Get out of here. Go find a place to hide." John said as he helped his son Jack onto the horse.
"You're comin' with us pa!" Jack said.
"Ill catch up." John said as he helped his wife onto the horse.
"You keep ridin' and don't look back, and dont be worrying about me, you hear?" He said adjusting his hat
"Now get going!"
"You stay out of trouble, John." His wife said holding her hand down to him.
"Ain't no trouble Abigail, ain't no trouble." He said taking her hand as she leaned down, the two sharing a passionate kiss.
"I love you.."
"I love you..now go, Git!" John smacked the hind quarters of the horse, the horse let out a noise of objection before trotting out the opened back doors of the barn. Carrying Abigail and Jack away from the impending destruction of the Marston family. John watched as the horse trotted away, taking in a breath, contemplating the fact he would not be seeing them again.
He turned around and began to walk towards the other side of the barn, he gently pushed one of the doors to peer through its cracks, to see what challenge awaited outside. What he saw was a mixture of men in formal suits, and men in uniform. Armed with Springfield Rifles, Winchester Repeaters, High-powered Pistols or Colt Revolvers. John stepped back, taking in a deep breath before pushing open both doors, walking outside he stared death directly in the face.
John observed the posse of men only around 15 feet away from him. Quickly grabbing his Cattlemen's Revolver and firing at whoever dared threatened him. 4 shots landed, 4 men dropped before the rest began to open fire on John, the mixture of high and low firepower tore through his body. He stood before them, bleeding, coughing with bloody gargled breaths. His legs buckled as he fell to his knee's, slowly falling on his back and slipping away into the cold abyss of death.
Edgar Ross lifted his gun up, smirking in the most cocky of manors before he and the rest of the men began to walk away. Leaving the Marston Ranch as murderers, glorified murderers is what they were. Off in the distance, Abigail and Jack could here the gunshots, filled with worry, Jack turned the horse around and set course for home.
When they arrived, passing the bodies of dead agents and soldiers who John and Uncle had killed in an earlier fight. They arrived at the barn, what they found all but shattered their hearts. Laying lifeless in a puddle of blood, Jack looked at his father, turning pale from the shock. Abigail dismounted the horse and ran to his side, fumbling to her knees and crying over the body of her beloved and now deceased husband. John Marston was dead, or so it would seem...
His eyes began to open, slowly as the blinding sun greeted his eyes with a bright white light. John tried to pick himself up but he felt pain, "Grraah! Ahhh! Dammit to hell.." He got on his side, his vision began to adjust and he quickly realized..he wasn't at his ranch, wasn't anywhere that he knew actually. The grass was too green to be the Great Plains, not enough tree's to be Tall Tree's..Everything else LOOKED different too!
John struggled to his feet, the pain seemed to fade as minutes passed by. "Where the hell did those bastards dump me.." He looked around, the rolling green hills, beautiful oak tree's and flowers all around. Wherever he was it sure was nice, that was for sure. He began to walk around, although this place was nice..his family is all that John cared about. Some of the local wildlife began to show themselves, typical things such as bunnies, birds, squirrels. The usual stuff, not a person in sight though.
"Hey c'mon! we're gonna be late!" Some female voice called out.
"I'm coming, i'm coming!" Another female voice said.
"Uhh..E-Excuse me miss?! Miss! I need your help!" John called out, he began to walk around more frantically trying to find the source of the voice. He began to run when the sound of hoofs trotting against the ground. John ran over to a small pathway to catch a glimpse of ...Ponies? Th-They were ponies right? Really weird colored ponies though..
"What in the?.." John stood there in absolute confusion, one of those ponies was a really weird color of green, the other was white. They were way too small to be ridden, who was talking?..the ponies? No no no that's impossible. John however wanted to know where they were going, so he ran down the path following them.
After a few minutes something flew over him, when he looked up to see what it was, John tripped over his own feet from the shock. A flying pony, this pony had WINGS and was FLYING. That's impossible, this was a dream..it had to be, none of this is possible!
Just when he thought it couldn't get any worse, it did. Another oddly colored pony with a horn could be seen running into a town off in the distance. John literally had to sit down and think about how he felt about this. He had no idea where he was and he didn't like it one bit. None of it was natural.
