November 1998:

Carcer City is a booming industrial center, providing the chance for many to achieve the American Dream. One of those who is looking for a slice of the pie is Thomas Schaffer, adopted son of police chief Gary Schaffer and well-respected straight-A student at Mathers High School. However, in the matter of one single night at the school dance, it all falls apart. Tensions between rival cliques explode into a depraved civil war caught on camera. Thomas is left to fend for himself in a city where the American Dream is now a mutilated corpse.

Canterlot's best and brightest scientists and engineers have developed a portal to the human world far more reliable than the one locked away in the Crystal Empire. Knowing the potential dangers of exploring uncharted waters, Celestia and Luna join the Elements of Harmony through the portal only to find a city flirting with death and despair. It will take more than the magic of friendship to survive Carcer City in one piece.
