The Nightmare Night that Never Ends

Blink was awoken to a thudding noise. Zomponies were pounding at the windows trying to get to their next meal, having a look of hunger in their eyes. One of them in particular caught Blinks eye. He ran up to the window to get a closer look to what was once his best friend, Rumble. Even though Rumble was a several years older, he always looked up to him like a brother. He gasped and ran up to his mother and said with tears welling up in his eyes.

"*Sniff* M-mommy it's Rumble."

"It's not Rumble honey it's one of them now," she said, before mentally berating herself for being so blunt. Blink started to bawl, he crying seemed to make the zomponies aggressive in trying to get in.

"Twilight why'd y'all go and make the youngin' cry like that!"

"I'm sorry I wasn't thinking," said the lavender pony. "Blink, I'm sorry, come here," she reached out to her son, wanting to wrap him in a hug.

"No! I'm going to go save my friend!" he declared before running up to the door and started pulling off the barricades with his magic. Most foals his age would have difficulty lifting a book. However, Blink inherited his mother's natural talent.

"Blink, stop!" Twilight said, trying to use her own magic to put the barricades back up. It was to late, the barricade had weakened enough to allow the zomponies to break through. Twilight levitated Blink out of the way just before Rumble could bite him. She shot a magical blast at the one who dared to try to hurt her son, making its head explode. All the ponies started running except for Flare who said.

"Go, I'll try and hold them off for a little bit!"

"But Flare, you'll-"

"GO! You need to make sure our son is safe."

Twilight quickly kissed her husband before she levitated Blink and put him on her back and they ran out the back door with the rest of there friends. During their mad dash, Twilight took a few pot shots at lone zomponies, trying to take out some of her frustration.They ran for several minutes until they reached the Cutie Marks Crusaders' Clubhouse; they were far enough from the zomponies that they could catch their breaths for a little bit. Twilight collapsed on the ground and started crying uncontrollably. Blink went up to his mother and wrapped his hooves around her neck, crying as well. He was scared, confused, and upset that his mother was crying. Her friends could only stand by and let her grieve for a little while. After a few minutes, Applejack came up to them.

"Blink, why don't y'all go talk with Fluttershy for a little bit," she said.

"But mommy-" he started.

"Don't worry, Ah'll make sure she's okay."

Blink nodded, gave Twilight a squeeze before letting go and slowly making his way over to Fluttershy. Applejack walked over to Twilight and wrapped her hooves around her friend, causing a fresh wave of tears to spring forth from the purple alicorn.

"Ah'm sorry, Twi, Ah'm truly sorry."

"It's not your fault, Applejack," Twilight managed to say, "it's these damned zomponies."

"Twi, this may not be the best time, but we gotta keep movin'."

"I didn't even get the chance to tell him," she continued to sob.

"Tell him what, Sugarcube?"

"I'm pregnant."

Everypony gasped in shock.

"Twilight, Ah'm so sorry, but we gotta-" Applejack was interrupted by the sounds of moaning and groaning. Each one of the ponies were looking around to see where the source of the noise was, but it was impossible to tell. That was until Fluttershy screamed. They all turned to the yellow mare who was looking up in horror. When they looked up, they saw a whole hoard of pegasi zomponies flying towards them. Twilight took notice of the grey pony who was leading the hoard. Twilight immediately recognized the zompony as Derpy. Derpy began to pick up speed, anticipating her next meal. A mach cone began to form around her, charging at the group of survivors. She missed them by a mile, but created a shock wave like Rainbow,s sonic rainboom, except this one was blood red. Twilight and all her friends were knocked of their hooves by the shock wave.

Fortunately, nopony was hurt, just stunned. When they turned their heads to see where Derpy had crashed their jaws dropped. Derpy had toppled over the tree she had crashed into and proceeded to stand back up, completely unharmed. "That's just not possible," Twilight whispered. They started to run to the left of where Derpy was, but were stopped by a horn lodging itself in a tree in front of them. They turned their heads towards the direction of where the horn came from; a hoard of unicorn zomponies had joined the party. At the front of the hoard was Sparkler, who had a hole where her horn should be. A new one then twisted itself out of her head, except it was a pale as bone. The other unicorn zomponies then lowered their heads and fired a barrage of horns.

"Everypony, get behind me now!" Twilight shouted to her friends. They quickly got behind Twilight before she threw up a shield. Instead of bouncing off the shield, the horns lodged themselves into the shield, forming cracks in it. Crap, the shield won't hold for long. Celestia, help us. "On my signal everypony dodge! Ready! 3, 2, 1, now!" Twilight used her magic to teleport Blink and herself while her friends jumped out of the way of the horns.

Once everpony was behind the trees, Rainbow Dash yelled, "What the hay, Twilight?! Why didn't you teleport the rest of us?! You're an alicorn for crying out loud!"

"Rainbow, I may be an alicorn now, but my new powers haven't matured yet," Twilight calmly explained, "I'm only slightly more powerful than I was before and I'm trying to conserve as much magic as I can until we really need it."

Rainbow Dash looked away in embarrassment. "Sorry Twilight, I shouldn't have snapped at you like that."

"It's alright, Rainbow. Everypony, let's head back to town and hold up at the library. I might be able to use my lab equipment to find a way to cure everypony." The others nodded in agreement and began to gallop through the trees toward town.

When they reached the outskirts of Ponyville, they ducked behind some buildings to avoid being seen. "Alright everypony," Twilight began, "let's try to do this quietly."

"Help, anypony!"

Applejack's ears perked up at the sound of the voice..

"Applebloom!" Applejack ran towards where she had heard the scream of her sister with the others lagging behind her, trying to call her back.

They were turning corner to corner past every house until they saw Applebloom on the ground about to be sliced in half by her big brother. Applejack sprinted forward and tackled Big Mac, keeping her little sister safe.Big Mac got back up and charged towards Applejack. Applejack dodged her big brother's attack easily. Big Mac then began to swing his scythe wildly at Applejack. Applejack dodged but tripped on a rock, hitting her head on the ground. Big Mac raised his scythe in front of Applejack was too dazed to do anything, but Rainbow flew to her rescue. She hit Big Mac into a building smashing through a wall. She thought he had been dealt with and turned around to help Applejack. However, she failed to notice Big Mac get up unscathed. Rainbow turned around too late. She tried to dodge, but the scythe managed to cut her right wing off.

"Bucking Tartarus!" Rainbow curled up into a ball of agony. It was like the time when she broke her wings, except the pain was increased a hundred fold. Big Mac raised his scythe again to deliver the killing blow.

"Time to take care of this, Pinkie Pie style."

Out of nowhere, Pinkie pulled out her party cannon, aimed it at Big Mac, and fired her cannon, sending Big Mac flying through the wall of the same building. Big Mac tried to get up again, but the debris he was trapped under was almost to heavy to lift; he would be trapped for several minutes, giving Twilight and her friends time to escape.

Twilight's friends, however, were in complete disarray. Applejack and Applebloom were hugging each other, not even noticing what was going on around them, Rainbow was muttering incoherently, trying to put her dismembered wing back on as if it would do something, Fluttershy and Rarity were hugging each other and crying, Pinkie's mane had gone flat and she was just staring off into space, and Blink was clutching his mother's leg, trying to wake up from this nightmare. She had had enough. Twilight's horn began to glow and in a flash of light, she along with her son and friends, were gone.
