You awake.

Which is strange for a number of reasons. First and foremost being the fact that you're pretty sure you just died. You'd say you were certain of it, in fact. You were-

...how were you killed again? Oddly enough, you can't seem to remember. You try to recall the moments leading up to your death, and find you can't remember those either. In fact, much to your alarm, you discover that you don't seem to be able to remember anything at all!

Okay, calm down, you think, trying to control your breathing, only to find that you haven't been breathing this whole time anyway, nor do you seem to be capable of doing so. You go to rub your chin as you think about this revelation, but realise you do not possess one, nor anything to rub it with. You are completely formless!

You start to feel the panic coming on again, so attempt to abate it by mentally revising everything you know. You believe yourself to have died, so your current form, or lack thereof, would probably be your spirit. You have no memory of your life, yet still possess knowledge of concepts such as life, death and self. You still possess emotions, such as anxiety, stress, and, oddly, arousal, which you would have assumed you would have no need of any more. After all, you no longer possess any physical senses.

Actually, that may not be true for all of your senses. With a start, you realise you have been dimly aware of our surroundings this whole time, thus proving you still possess your sight at least. Although all you can see appears to be an endless void of blue and white.

You try to look around, an awkward task with no physical head or eyes to move, and find you have been facing upwards, towards the sky. Levelling your vision out to be parallel with the ground, you find that you appear to be in some sort of town, buildings surrounding you on all sides. This town doesn't seem familiar to you, but then you can't even remember your own name, so it's difficult to determine whether you've been here before or not.

While wondering if you've reached some sort of afterlife, you notice that you are not alone out here. Milling around the town, you spy some strange brightly-coloured creatures.
